The 15 Best Breweries In Boston 2024

"Mighty Squirrel started in Waltham, but recently expanded into a glitzy second location in Fenway. The two-story space has ample seating and a full kitchen serving pizzas, tacos, and mulitas—go for the pizzas freshly fired up in the brick oven, and the cheesy mulitas made with corn tortillas. The real reason you're here though is for the beer. We love its signature beer Cloud Candy, a crushable New England-style IPA with tropical fruit notes of papaya and mango. Other standouts include the Mango Lassi, a sour IPA that we (and all of our beer-drinking friends) can’t get enough of." - valerie li stack

Mighty Squirrel’s Gigantic Fenway Brewery Is Now Open | Eater Boston

"Opened just in time for St. Patrick’s Day weekend, the new Fenway taproom from Mighty Squirrel occupies a 13,000-square-foot, two-story space and brings the Waltham brewery—home of the cult-favorite New England-style IPA Cloud Candy—into Fenway. I learned the massive site will produce some of the same brews as the Waltham facility while also offering occasional Fenway-exclusive releases; there are four bars on site, plus a full kitchen selling pizzas, tacos, and quesadilla-like mulitas stuffed with a choice of meat, shrimp, or veggies. The taproom sits below the Bower apartment complex, is located at 1 David Ortiz Drive, and is open weekdays from 11 a.m. to midnight, Saturdays from 10 a.m. to midnight, and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with an on-site coffee bar that opens daily at 6 a.m." - Erika Adams

Mighty Squirrel Is Opening a Massive New Brewery in Boston - Eater Boston

"Waltham-based brewery Mighty Squirrel is making a gigantic move into Boston proper later this year. Boston Business Journal reports that the crowd-favorite brewery broke ground this month on construction for a 13,000-square-foot location in Fenway, at the shiny new residential development Bower, that is slated to open in October. The brewing company — known for its hazy, juicy New England-style IPAs like Cloud Candy — plans to use the space to experiment with new beers in smaller batches, and it’ll also include a kitchen run by a yet-to-be-named food partner. The brewery will also be neighboring the highly anticipated reboot of legendary Boston restaurant Eastern Standard, which is going into the same development." - Erika Adams

Google
This place truly exceeded my expectations. Every time we go to a brewery, I usually feel like the food menu is limited or just an afterthought but Mighty Squirrel Fenway completely changed that for me. The food was delicious, way better than I expected from a brewery. Everything was beautifully presented, well-portioned, fairly priced, and there were plenty of options to choose from. They really care about both flavor and quality, which makes the whole experience even better. Of course, the beer was great too, good variety. We especially enjoyed the IPAs and Lager. The vibe is relaxed, and it’s the perfect spot to hang out before a game or just enjoy a laid-back afternoon. My friends and I Shared some of these dishes.

The place is amazing with plenty of fun games to enjoy. The food is good and satisfying. Their beer is absolutely fantastic — fresh, and full of flavor. The staff are super friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. Great vibes all around — highly recommended!

Google
The best brewery premise I've ever seen. Very spacious. Tons of quality & private seating. Great effort into the vibes, live music is always much appreciated. Great place for people to relax and enjoy others' company. Naveen also brews quality IPAs - and I am someone who normally shies away from the bitters. I would recommend a visit if you're in the area and are looking for a place to be with friends.

Great brewery in a great location! Our waitress Aleksei was amazing. She recommended some of great beers based on our tastes and preferences and even brought over some samples when we were unsure. Very awesome atmosphere right near Fenway, will definitely be going back.

Google
Highly recommend!!! Had a few tapas and drinks; the Burria de res tacos consume is remarkable, the best. Loved the beet salad. Really good food!!!!! Loved my Mojito seltzer. Recommend for them to have coasters, will keep the wiping water to a minimum. Also, you need TV in the bar area, per corner. Regardless, the place is awesome, great atmosphere with exceptional food!!!!

Google
Very large space, most people get takeout so it’s a nice place if you want a quiet area to work! Tried their seasonal spring drink, Honey Lavender Latte. Definitely got the honey flavor, not so much the lavender though and they do make their lattes very milky as a warning. Overall, still a solid drink, would come back just for the really nice and quiet area to do work!

Google
A huge location with a lots of beers on tap as well as food. I think the first part to remark on, is just how massive this place is, 2 stories, lots of seating. This would be a great place for a big group hangout. They have an assortment of board games as well as a shuffleboard table. There are multiple bars so you're not beholden to one location. The kitchen is on the first floor, you order online and pick up at the counter. The food is quite good - the pretzels were delicious and the salad was huge. I personally did not enjoy the beer offerings too much, they don't do flights, but they do small pours. I think it is a solid location if you like Mighty Squirrel beers .

Yelp
I was here for a friend's birthday and it was a lovely time! It is a new, well lit, and fun spot that has recently opened in Fenway. They have plenty of seating across an upstairs and a downstairs. While there for my friend's birthday, there was a Red Sox game nearby, which meant the space was not busy until after the game ended. They had plenty of staff available to help out as needed and all seemed in good spirits. Even though I am not much of a beer drinker, I do tend to enjoy sour beers and hard seltzers. I was able to try three of their sour beers, which included their mango, watermelon, and prickly pear options. All of them were not overly sour and had a subtle enough, yet enjoyable flavor. Out of the three, mango was by far my favorite! While I had dinner beforehand, my friend ordered food and raved about it! She ordered a quesadilla and a pizza, which came out fairly quickly. They also have games available, like Jenga and playing cards. They are also okay if you bring your own games, like my friend who brought dice. It creates for a fun environment! Check out this cool spot if you're in the area!

Yelp
Location: great space with multiple floors tons of space and games Beer: consistently average and underwhelming. They seem to have more non-beer options than beer. Its just not a standout or something you would buy again Food: tried pizza- no. Dont. Tacos- maybe, but dont be expecting anything beyond bar food. $9 chips and salsa sampler- good chips with 4 completely water "salsas" - no Food is not why you would choose this location. Service: great

Yelp
Very good selection of beers, great for IPA lovers (like myself). Food was good, ordering system was user friendly. Lots of room, well-lit and chill staff.

Yelp
Stopped in before a game at Fenway. My boyfriend waited in line to get us beers and I grabbed the last available table. We ordered food on an app and they let you know when it's ready to pick up at the kitchen area. Pleasantly surprised that it was happy hour so the food was half off!

Yelp
1 David Ortiz Way is the home of a new, spacious location for beloved Mighty Squirrel Brewing! Bright, airy, futuristic and such a great addition to the Fenway neighborhood - this will be my new pre-Red Sox game spot for sure! This location features all the same beers offered in Waltham with the addition of Hard Seltzers and Hard Smoothies - I tried the Mojito and Margarita Hard Seltzers and Piña Colada and Strawberry Daiquiri Hard Smoothie. All so unique and delicious but I will tell you that I can't wait to cool down after a hot summer Sox game at Mighty Squirrel with the piña colada hard smoothie!! This location also features a kitchen and my Birria taco and shrimp taco were !!! Hats off to the whole team for a home-run of a second location! Make a plan to check out this new spot!

Yelp
Very modern and cool view of the Pru. Awesome Fenway vibe. Went for trivia, beer was great, bartenders fantastic. Trivia host was fun and funny!

Yelp
This place is clean, spacious, and vibrant. Mighty Squirrel has a great Fenway location. However, I have never been a fan of their beer and still am not. Every beer is bitter, which I understand for IPA's but why are their pilsners, sours, and lighter beers bitter? I didn't order any food but I have to say, the food looked and smelled delicious. They also offer coffee, have plenty of tv's on two floors, and beautiful artwork on the walls.

Yelp
Carson was simply awesome! Oh, this squirrel's name is DEFINITELY "Marty". Go ahead, publicize that. Mighty Squirrel Brewing, henceforth referred to as MSB, is a very new and well-appointed establishment 200 yards from Fenway. We stopped in for a flight before our tour at Fenway Park. Every beer we tasted was excellent. We loved the layout and overall feel of the place, too. Simply stated, if we lived in Boston, MSB would be a regular hangout for us. Well done, two dudes from San Diego!

Yelp
What an awesome addition to the Fenway area! Right next to the commuter rail station, multi lever bar with amazing beers! They also have a kitchen you have to use the QR code to order from, but well worth it! New must stop every time at a game or concert!

Yelp
Such great lighting with lots of tables for big groups! A new hotspot for hanging out with co-workers after a long week. Lots of drink and food options and really good vibes. There are tons of games to bring to the table too which makes there something for everyone! An upstairs and downstairs for all the views too!

Yelp
Avg at best brewery. Hard to justify a visit having Trillium so close. Plenty of choices but non are worth a full pour.

Yelp
What a fun place steps from Fenway. If you love craft beer and an interesting venue, this is your jam. We didn't try the food yet, but the beer is great, the service is friendly, and it's clean and bright.

Brittany S.

Yelp
Almost nobody there, so pretty quiet for a Sunday afternoon. Don't validate parking, but got lucky for street parking.

Yelp
Cant handle volume. Food looked great but after waiting an hour for tacos we asked for a refund. Huge disappointment.

Warren E.

Yelp
The pumpkin beer was off the charts. Most of the beers are good but the pumpkin was outstanding the only thing. I Would improve on is the decor inside the pub..seems a bit to sterile

Charles F.

Yelp
Amazing beer and people. Great time to get you even more excited to visit Fenway Park and enjoy a game.

Jackie L.

Yelp
We were in town for Red Sox game and had tried their beer at a local bar. So when we stumbled upon the brewery after the game, we had to stop. Really fun and chill vibe. Beertenders were friendly and quick. I live in California and would love to see them come out west!

Perrin E.

Yelp
Place was slammed with food orders before a concert. Manager Megan was super professional and made it right for the customer. When they ran out of food and the wait was more than one hour, she helped find a substitute and ultimately provided a refund. Well done!

Eric K.

Yelp
Super friendly staff and great beer including sours which are really hard to come by in Boston. Newly opened hidden gem in the Fenway neighborhood. Note to management please prioritize/keep sports games on TVs especially during the playoffs.
