9 Unforgettable Ice Cream Shops in the East Bay Perfect for Summer | Eater SF

"Every time you visit Miharu’s, it’s like the first time. Because the shop updates its menu often, you might not always be able to get your favorite. But you’re bound to find a new one printed on colorful die-cut pieces of scoop-shaped papers, which the shop hands on the wall touting the latest offerings. The flavor mashups are unexpected, and it’s hard to go wrong. Go for the floral-tart mix of lychee ice cream with raspberry rose sauce, the breakfast brownies with a satisfying mix of carmelized cornflakes and fudgy brownie bits, or the juicy white peach blossom sorbet that’s enhanced with hints of orange blossom. They’re all winners." - Lena Park

I mean this is the best ice cream I’ve had in a very very long time. All the cream is so inventive, flavorful and delicious. They still have some pretty tame flavors but why rob yourself of getting some of the best and strangest, in the best way, ice cream combos you want. The only thing I can equate this place to is salt and straw except with less gimmick flavors and more just great combos.

This is my second visit to Miharu, renowned for having the best homemade ice cream in Oakland. On this occasion, I opted for the "Build Your Own Sundae," which allows for two flavors of ice cream and two toppings. Additional scoops are priced at $1.50 each, while extra toppings cost $1.25 each. I particularly enjoy the Passion Fruit and Lemon with Berry Lavender Swirl, both of which are gluten-free and vegan. I plan to visit for ice cream two to three times a month moving forward.

Google
Saw 4.9 star rating and decided to visit. First ice cream I’ve eaten in a while where I audibly said “wow” after taking a first bite. Softer texture, quicker to melt — but the lower temp makes the flavor more accessible.

Google
Love their dark milk chocolate ice cream. Such a perfect blend and not too sweet. I also tried their earl grey cajeta which was pretty good as well.

Google
Honestly this place is my new favourite. You can’t go wrong with any flavor. My friend and I got single scoops first and then had to go back and get a pint. My personal favorites were the Uber, new Orléans pecan swirl and green Thai tea 💕 Also the maybe Hispanic maybe Asian, younger looking worker with black curly hair and an apple watch was the absolute sweetest. My friend and I both thought you were so kind and just radiated such a positivity. Thank you 🥺

Google
Absolutely delicious flavors, staff is super nice, helpful , and patient while helping you try flavors! The person working was great with wheelchair accessibility and the building is pretty accessible (i dont think it has a door button, but otherwise pretty good!). Absolutely will keep coming back!

Google
Crazy fun and inventive flavors!! Things roatate and change frequently so it’s exciting to come back and see what’s new. Always friendly staff happy to offer samples:) Parking in the area sucks tho so plan accordingly.

Google
Had the cherimoya ice cream on a cone and it was delicious! It's refreshing, light and not sweet. At 8:30pm all the tables were taken! Friendly staff offer samples of any inventive flavor. Will return! Highly recommend 👌 Also the caramelized bananas looked ah-mazing!

Yelp
Top: Cookie milk and cookies Bottom: Banana w/ dulce de leche Both greaaat flavors on their own and absolute perfection together!!

Yelp
Always need to end a meal with dessert, no matter full I am, haha! And you know we love a good local ice cream joint! Place is cute and colorful inside. The staff are super friendly and energetic which is a breath of fresh air from these youngsters nowadays. The flavors are unique and lots of asian influence. You know they're good when there are tubs of empty flavors! Their earl grey must be poppin' because they ran out and everyone coming in was asking for some. If you're a chocolate lover, I highly recommend their cookies milk and cookies flavor! Basically cookies and creme but with chocolate ice cream! Who else has this?! Also their breakfast brownie is fuego. Perfect ingredients combined to give you so much flavor and crunchiness in an ice cream. The prices are on par for a homemade ice cream parlor. Definitely a great spot to visit again.

Yelp
I first tried Miharu Ice Cream during the POC Food and Wine Festival a few weeks ago so when I was in Oakland and craving something sweet, I knew where to go. It wasn't too hard to find some street parking by the apartment complex on a Sunday afternoon. Plus it was free so that was a bonus. We rounded the corner to enter their little shop. There's some seating inside and it seems a good amount of people order their ice cream and hang out. You can even sit along a bench to see inside their kitchen area. They've got lots of unique flavors to choose from, both signature and seasonal. You can sample some flavors if you're not sure. Since you can choose 2 flavors for a single scoop, I went with the banana with dulce de leche and breakfast brownies. Both delicious! The banana ice cream has a real banana flavor and the dulce de leche makes it quite sweet. I liked the breakfast brownies flavor more because of its sweet and salty balance plus the added textures from the corn flakes and brownies. There wasn't any line when we arrived and the staff was great. We found a seat quickly and ate our ice cream there. I'll be stopping by again whenever I'm looking for ice cream while in the area!

Yelp
Came here after dinner to get dessert with my bestie and our boyfriends while I was in town visiting. My best friend isn't that into ice cream, and neither am I, but I saw they had some Asian flavored ice creams which really piqued our interest. And I'm super glad we went! We went on a Friday night and it wasn't too crowded. It's a small shop with some indoor seating and they also have a bathroom. My boyfriend and got to try a bunch of their flavors: lychee with raspberry rose, pandan with ginger, lemon with berry lavender, mugicha, strickhand, cookie milk and cookies, and lemongrass. Each flavor was really good, but the pandan with ginger was the best one in our opinion. My bestie and her bf got a single scoop and my bf and I also got a single scoop of the pandan with ginger. Also their flavors rotate every 3 weeks! We loved the ice cream so much that we went back 2 days later to buy pints of the pandan with ginger hahaha. Definitely come check out this ice cream shop if you want to try some unique and yummy ice cream flavors!

Yelp
This place had a good n weird vibe! There was a line out the door when I came upon this spot, so I thought I'd try it! Omg!!! The portions were huge!!! Too big for just me, so thank goodness I was waiting for a ride! The staff were very generous with their time in testing flavors! Street parking only.
google avatar

Stephanie K.

Yelp
The service was amazing and the flavors were so unique! I love that we were able to try different flavors. My FAVORITE was the lemongrass, the color was so pretty and it tasted even better. I thought the other flavors were so creative but a lot of them I loved the idea but I don't think it came out as I expected. I also really liked how to they have Happy Cow Chocolate for sale for people who are lactose intolerant.

Yelp
Man, I was actually expecting this place to be an ordinary ice cream shop, but they really did me wonders with the ice flavors. With a good number of choices to choose from, I was impressed by how good it was. The servers are super friendly, and they will gladly give you samples with a smile on their faces. I ended up getting a double ice cream scoop with the Lychee w/ Raspberry Rose Swirl as well as the Banana w/ Dulce de Leche. The banana one was recommended by my friend and damn that was delicious. I already love banana flavored anything so this and the dulce de leche was SO GOOD. The churned ice cream really tasted like banana and the addition of dulce de leche was the perfect addition. I highly recommend this one. The Lychee one was good too. A little bit tarter but nothing bothersome. Didn't really taste the lychee though, as the raspberry flavor was a little more potent. But this place is good! Definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

Yelp
A friend suggested this place raving about their banana split and buttered peanuts. Normally, I am not the biggest banana split fan--I can't remember the last time I had one ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ My partner and I came in on a Sunday night after dinner. There was a line and it took about 5 minutes for us to order. The staff person was super friendly and readily offered recommendations. We tried a few samples: nian gao, breakfast brownies, and one more I can't remember. Breakfast brownies was our favorite of the flavors we tried and we requested that it be subbed for the lychee ice cream in the banana split. It took less than 5 mins for the split to come out and it was worth the short wait. Truly a sight. All components were delicious. The brûlée'ed banana was a special treat and nicely balanced the banana flavor. I personally was worried about a too-ripe banana--unfounded! The peanuts were delicious. I loved the berry sauce more than I thought I would. It seemed raspberry-heavy, which was perfect with the chocolate. After about half way through I noticed that the vanilla-based ice creams were a little on the ice-y side. However, the chocolate one was smooth. I think the toppings went a long way of taking away the iciness. The interior felt a lot like the Giant Robot space (colorful and bright). We sat at the bar table along the window. The tall table was a little wobbly when I accidentally hit my knee against it. The non-bar seating looked more comfy, but that may be my age. Overall, a lovely experience and I'll be back again :D

Yelp
Cute little ice cream spot in Oakland. The staff who helped us were super friendly. We ordered a banana split that was caramelized and torched with the following ice cream flavors: breakfast brownie and cookie milk & cookies. It was topped with chocolate syrup and toasted peanuts. This was a nice addition as it offered a saltiness to balance out the sweetness of the ice cream flavors. Plus side, they offer pint sizes in case you want to take it togo. Will definitely come back if in the area to try their other flavors.

Yelp
This review comprises several different visits that happened over the last 5 months or so. Back in late summer, I got a single of lychee with raspberry rose, and banana with dulce de leche; the latter is a seasonal flavor. The lychee with raspberry rose is great if you prefer fruity flavors with a floral hint, and the latter you'd like if you want something sweet but also like the taste of real bananas (not artificial banana flavor). In late October, I returned and tried the honeybush tea, shrikhand (it's a vegan flavor containing saffron, cardamom, almonds, pistachios), qahwa (coffee and cardamom), key lime pie (vegan), and blue corn blondie. If you enjoy South Asian desserts, you'd probably enjoy the shrikhand. I really liked the honeybush because it is very sweet from the honey but also has a strong floral flavor. I also liked the blue corn blondie since it has more of a dense and cookie-like texture. I came back again earlier this week and sampled some flavors, including the pomegranate pistachio and cacao pu'erh. The latter has more of a bitterness compared to most chocolate flavors - it's almost like coffee but not quite as strong. I liked the salted butter and winter night cookies (which contains cookie butter and cinnamon), the first is very decadent and buttery as you might guess, and the second is sweet and you can indeed taste the cookie butter in it. I appreciate that they allow unlimited samples since they always have numerous interesting flavors, both standard and seasonal, to try. I've had many great ice cream flavors here and am looking forward to whatever they come up with next.

Yelp
Miharu is one of my favorite ice cream shops in the Bay Area, right up there with Salt & Straw with their constantly rotating ice cream flavors. In the two times that I've stopped by, there were new flavors available to sample that I had not seen before. For all you dessert fans that are looking for desserts that are "not too sweet", Miharu is unfortunately not that, as ice creams here lean towards the sweeter side. That said, if you get a small size to share with a friend, it ends up being the perfect amount of dessert without putting you into a sugar high. Other flavors I had a chance to try out that were delicious included hojicha, qahwa, and toasty marshmallows & yaki imo. The staff here is welcoming and patient, and encouraged us to sample anything we saw that sounded interesting. If you're in the area of Downtown Oakland, definitely give Miharu a try if you're looking for some tasty and unique ice cream flavors.

Yelp
We make a special trip here anytime we're in the East Bay, because Miharu's ice cream is delicious and the employees are so kind. I'm always eager to see what their seasonal flavors are, as they change frequently and are always inventive. Glad to see that they have so many options that are coconut based. We're not vegan at all but for some reason we found we prefer their vegan coconut based options, which is just a personal flavor preference. Our favorite flavor right now is still their lemon with berry and lavender swirl, which is one of their signature flavors (is offered all the time) and is vegan. I am also really enjoying their coconut truffle, which is one of their seasonal flavors (I heard it might only be here for another week or so ) and is also vegan. Enjoy your visit to Miharu! We always do :)

Yelp
Great experience. I had a double. Blueberry sorbet, hint of mint and oolong ice cream Great combo on a hot day. Went back for the same a week later. Another bench outside would be nice.

Yelp
I was here for about five minutes, but the taste of the cookie milk & cookies is enough for me to give this place 5 stars this time. Not too sweet or rich (I do have a sweet tooth so that opinion is probably skewed) and I liked the simplicity of my single scoop. It was enough for me to get my fix and didn't make me feel awful afterwards. I didn't try the other flavors but they seemed like a fresh departure from the usual combinations of other ice cream spots. Also, from the utensils, bowls, and sample spoons they use it seems like this place is environmentally friendly which is a plus. The staff were friendly and approachable too. Will definitely come back next time I'm in the area!

Yelp
Great flavor options, friendly service, delicious ice cream. I had the Blood Orange fennel crunch and Shrikhand, both were really good!

Yelp
This is an ice cream parlor in midtown Oakland, CA featuring unique, novelty ice cream flavor combinations. On this visit I arrived close to closing however there were still some patrons walking into the shop. You can order ice cream by the scoop in a cup, pre-packaged pints, or cone. The shop also offers a variety of baked goods (mostly cookies) with vegan options, sundaes, banana split and hot chocolate. I was impressed by the ingredients combinations and they're not just throwing flavors together; the ingredients actually pair well together. To be a small ice cream parlor surprisingly they have seating that can accommodate up to 15 people. Overall this was a great experience and one which I will try again when in the area. Give them a try.

Yelp
let's get straight to the pint here! as far as i'm concerned, ice cream is a daily essential food group! so anytime we can add more scoop shops to the rotation, we're 100% here for it! now Miharu isn't quite a new kid on the block. they were operating out of a cloud kitchen in Oakland just a couple of years ago. it was then I first tried their Breakfast Brownies and Miharu's Royale that I knew I could expect great things from this place. and thankfully for all of us ice cream lovers, they finally opened up a brick and mortar at the end of June. they've got some creative creations and also some traditional flavors converted into bold new adaptations. Breakfast Brownies is my staple and has caramelized crunchy cornflakes, with brownie chunks all mixed into their sweet cream. our current go-to is the Banana Dulce de Leche. with swirls of their homemade caramel sauce. true story, but my husband finished his scoop and went right back in for more in a sundae form drizzled with more dulce de leche and sliced almonds. (don't tell him I told you!) the Butter Caramel Popcorn is so interesting with a sweet and salty combo and added texture. and our kids love the Cookie Milk & Cookie because what kid doesn't? one flavor that I hope comes back into rotation is Miharu's Royale. it had housemade cookie dough with toasted macadamia nuts, and crunchy chocolate pieces in a coconut base. I bought a pint once from their cloud kitchen and have my fingers crossed! we never fail to stop in here when we are in the area. and since we are more regularly here on the weekends again as of late, I foresee more frequent visits! cone-gratulations again on the shop Miharu!

Yelp
Delicious ice cream! This place took over Little Giant (another awesome ice cream spot that I guess didn't survive the pandemic). This place doesn't have cookies or any frills however. The flavors are unique though! Warning: parking is a pain.
google avatar

Mariam M.

Yelp
Mmmm Miharu is absolutely delicious!! I love the flavors and it seems like they're all relatively organically made, the spoon and cups were all recyclable as well. I found that they have a lot of unique flavors and I can't wait to try them all.
google avatar

Abigail M.

Yelp
Ahhhhhhhhhhh I'll definitely come back servers was kindly and patiently waiting for us to order since we wanted to taste every flavor. I finally decided to get one scoop of Banana Dulce De Leche on a waffle cone! Best decision ever! I loved it I even added some rainbow sprinkles best combo! A must try!
google avatar

Yelp
8.12.23 Latest and greatest ice cream shop in the Bay! They opened about a month ago and took over the previous ice cream shop a block down the Fox Theater. As a fan of strong & unique flavors (esp Asian flavors) and creamy texture - Miharu hits the spot. If you love Bi-Rite and Garden Creamery in SF, you'll love this place. I almost want to gatekeep this place because I don't want there to be A crazy line when it gets too popular. LOL ICE CREAM: Unique & strong flavors. The flavor is exactly as stated on the sign and the flavor combos don't overpower one another. They also have vegan-friendly flavors! I've sampled all their flavors and my favorites are: - Matcha-Ta (vegan): matcha & horchata - Kinako Hazelnut - Green Thai Tea - Honeybush Tea They rotate their flavors, so I can see myself coming back frequently. I took my friends here after not even a wk of trying it for the first time and they loved it. AMBIENCE: Pretty sizeable place with some seating and a bathroom & great lighting. During the busy hours, I can see it may be hard to find parking, but so far it hasn't been a problem for me. SERVICE: Amazing. Super friendly and they currently let you try as many flavors as you want - even after we bought our ice cream they let us try more flavors we were still curious about. WILL BE RETURNING SOON!

Yelp
A place that has 50+ reviews and 4.9+ rating?! That's nuts! Is this fake new?! I had to find out. After spending quite some time in the store, trying out many unique and delicious samples, enjoying fantastic customer service, and enjoying a delicious scoop of ice cream in a waffle cone, I can confirm that this place does indeed deserve the 5-star rating! They have very unique and delicious flavors, every flavor I tried, I enjoyed, there were no bad flavors! The ice cream was the right about of sweetness and creaminess. I assume many flavors are seasonal, they post the flavors on the wall on your right when you enter, with the ingredients in each flavor. Really just an exceptional place! And exceptional service! This place has only been officially open at this location for 3 months, but I can tell it will be a staple of the neighborhood and potentially open many more locations. Another +1, they are very pet friendly, the moment I entered, the guy at the counter smiled and offered my dog a dairy-treat. EZ recommendation and 5/5! Well done!
google avatar

Mikaela C.

Yelp
I am not an ice cream person, but I enjoyed the flavors that Miharu had to offer. Parking is scarce in this area as it is in Downtown Oakland. Miharu seems to rotate its ice cream flavors constantly. It was my first time visiting Miharu and it did not disappoint. I went on a Saturday evening and they still had their winter seasonal flavors. They also allow you to taste-test all the flavors before committing to it. I genuinely enjoyed their Winter Cookie flavor the most. They also have other interesting flavors like raspberry/lychee, banana/dulce de leche, etc. I love how unique and creamy all of the flavors are. I also love the sizes that they have available as what I ordered was the perfect amount of dessert for my partner and me. I will be coming back again!
google avatar

Veronica L.

Yelp
Dipen the owner is super nice. My friend and I must have tried 10 flavors and he and his staff were super nice and helpful. This place is bomb. I went when their place was operating out of a window at Oakland Food Hall back in October 2020. The Nian Gao, Cacao Pu'erh, Rose w black sesame were all bomb. Wholeheartedly recommend this place! Ask for the punch card!
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
I'm not a huge ice cream person, but this place may have changed that. It was so good! The breakfast brownie and cookie milk and cookies were soooo good!
google avatar

Tifany P.

Yelp
How did they recreate the flavors so accurately?? I stopped by with my friends before a concert nearby, and had the most memorable time. The place wasn't busy when we came in, so we got to sample all the flavors, which were super amazing. That made choosing pretty hard, but we went for a double scoop of Masala Chai and some Brownie flavor with some bits that tasted like toffee, but did not stick to your teeth. This place has the best consistency, creaminess, and flavor accuracy of all the ice cream I've tried so far. That overall 4.9 rating is so deserved. If I'm in Oakland again, I'll definitely be coming here. With its food, service, and quaintness, this place is such a gem !!
google avatar

Avey S.

Yelp
I ordered the coconut truffle, and the winter night cookie and the two together are an elite combo. We got to sample several flavors and they all were very unique and tasty! The ice cream is soooo creamy and there's a good amount of seating inside. The ice cream server was kind and I love the branding and design -- really cute and bright! Looking forward to coming back here :)
google avatar

Geri S.

Yelp
This is Oakland's BEST. Fantastic flavors, friendly service - wins points in my book. If you're Happy and you know it - you're at Miharu Ice Cream!
google avatar

Denice D.

Yelp
As a big ice cream fan, I was excited to try this place. This place replaced Little Big Giant Ice Cream. Came here with my son and they have a lot of different/unique flavors. I got two flavors the Shrikhand and the Lychee rose. I like both flavors, but I felt that both ice creams were over churned. I also sampled a bunch of flavors as well. I can tell they make their own batches. One of the flavors I wanted to try they said it came out bad so they couldn't sell it. Overall I was not impressed to come back again and again. The pricing was standard for ice cream ships nowadays. Located in the Uptown area, parking it relatively easy to find. Street parking. DO NOT park in the lot, the homeless pretend to be the monitors of the lot. I did enjoy the flavors they provided. Customer service was good too.
google avatar

Mads R.

Yelp
Great creative flavors. Wouldn't find them anywhere else! Shrikhand was interesting but qahwa was the star
google avatar

Tommy Y.

Yelp
Just get the breakfast brownie trust me. This place never disappoints with every unique flavor. I wish they had slightly more seating and that the chairs weren't broken but that's ok

Yelp
Let me start this review with what I think is a key piece of information about the location/ordering: This business set up was beyond weird. I have never been to an ice cream business that didn't have its own storefront. I'm not sure how or if it's even possible to order in person. I made my order through their website online. It's located in the Oakland Food Hall, and a bunch of businesses share the space with one central area for people to pick up their orders. *Side note: Do NOT go into that bathroom unless it's an emergency; I don't know if it's always that way, but at 8PM it was disgusting. Now, on to the ice cream. Despite the note above, it's a five star review because the ice cream is just that good. It's up there with the best ice creams I've ever had, top 3 for sure. Very creamy. Extremely unique flavors. I had the 8oz with flavor 1 as Lychee Ice Cream with Rose Raspberry Swirl and flavor 2 as Toasty Marshmallows & Yaki Imo (Sweet Potato). I could tell the Marshmallows & Yaki Imo was much sweeter than the Lychee, but even though they were distinctly different flavors, I still didn't mind eating the area where the flavors touch/mix. I usually hate that part of a double scoop, when the flavors clash, but that was not an issue here! Both flavors were so amazing! I want to come back and try all of them. I'm certainly glad I don't live anywhere around here or I'd be in trouble, but I can't wait to come back the next time I'm in this general area. The price is pretty steep; the scoops were not generous. It comes out to be about $10 (with tax) for a TIIIIIINY 8oz (or you can get a even tinier scoop at about $7 for 4oz. Trust me, it's better to go with 8oz. Either way, you get to pick two flavors for either size. You can also order pints for about $15. However, the taste and flavors will compel me to come back time and time again! Very happy to have come across this delicious business (because of Yelp! They don't have an actual storefront, so there's no way I would've come across it otherwise)!
google avatar

Serena J.

Yelp
Great ice cream shop, maybe my new favorite in the east bay! Ice cream is creamy but still light, and the flavors are distinct and precise. I tried a few flavors - my favorite was the lychee w/ raspberry swirl, but all were good.
google avatar

Breanne S.

Yelp
Super yummy ice cream! The flavors are pretty unique & they do allow samples which is nice! I got the peach blossom sorbet & the lychee with raspberry rose swirl & both were flavorful! If I had to decide I would say the lychee was my favorite between the two. The workers were super nice & there are also a good amount of seats inside in case you want to sit inside to enjoy your ice cream.
google avatar

Karena K.

Yelp
I love this ice cream spot! I felt bad about asking for a lot of samples, but there were too many flavors that sounded so good. I am not sure which are seasonal, so try these unique flavors while you can. I personally love floral flavors and not many offer those, so I am glad this place does! I love the honeybush tea the most (the one I ended up getting). They also have other flavors like lychee and banana with dulce de leche, yummy!
google avatar

Kathryn W.

Yelp
We came to try this ice cream after my son met the owner buying ingredients at the local farmer's market. This is some next level ice cream. The flavors are both complex, and interesting while being perfectly comforting. I can not think of a time when I have ever had better ice cream. The creaminess is perfection. It is the creamiest ice cream I think I have ever had. The lychee w raspberry and rose had a swirled ribbon of raspberry coulis. It was almost too pretty to eat.
google avatar

Smia S.

Yelp
Went here for the first time with some family and I ordered the Qawha (coffee and cardamom) and the dark milk chocolate ice cream. Was probably the best ice cream I've ever had! My group also all enjoyed what they ordered. The place was a bit busy because it was about half an hour before closing but the employees were working super fast and were super friendly. The space was a bit small, but since it's ice cream, people were coming and going pretty quickly. Would definitely come again!
google avatar

Francesca S.

Yelp
This is the best ice cream I've probably ever had and they serve up bomb chicken sandwiches next door so it's like a bogo deal if you do the little circuit.
google avatar

Jeizl M.

Yelp
Loved the ice cream. First time trying the Blue Corn Blondie flavor and really enjoyed the taste of it. Don't know how to describe it exactly, but imo it sort of has a cereal or barley taste to it, which I liked. Will be coming back again to try more flavors next time!
google avatar

Margaret W.

Yelp
Miharu is a take out only ice cream shop located in the Oakland food hall (Jingletown). You can check their instagram for flavor offerings. It being Lunar NY... We wanted to try their version of Nian Gao ice cream. WOW. I have to say, they nailed it. There are little pieces of nian gao in the ice cream and you can taste the flavor through the ice cream itself. If you're patient enough and wait for it to slightly soften, that's when it's the best! I just wish there were more bits of sticky goodness. Each pint doesn't come cheap so this is definitely a treat.
google avatar

Katie L.

Yelp
I found out about this place on TikTok and immediately went to try it out that same day. What made me especially interested was their unique Asian flavors, including Indian and Omani flavors which you don't find very often. I wanted to try the matcha-ta, but they were out by the time we arrived around 8pm on a Saturday evening. But I got the qahwa & strawberry, and the qahwa was my favorite!!! It's a coffee flavor with cardamom, and while it was strong, it wasn't too bitter and it had the perfect amount of sweetness. I would definitely go back for this flavor again and to try to get a taste of their matcha-ta. Customer service was pretty great too! I usually feel bad about asking for more than two samples, but the cashier didn't make me feel bad at all for asking for three :') I'm an indecisive person, so I really appreciated this!

Yelp
It's been awhile since I've had ice with this level of flavor depth and unique options! We got a total of 4 scoops: thai green tea, qahwa, lychee + raspberry rose, and shrikhand. This is one of those instances where you just have to try it yourself because words won't do it justice. We basically opted for flavors that you wouldn't usually see at a typical ice cream shop and we recommend you do the same because we were pleasantly surprised. Flavors were so well balanced and the texture made each spoonful so creamy. The flavors were not subtle which can be a problem when incorporating flavor into a dessert, but that was not the case here! I thought pricing was very reasonable in comparison to other ice cream shops. I actually found this place thanks to social media and boy did it exceed my expectations. The store is clean and brightly lit, ice cream is clearly labeled, and there's a lot of indoor seating. I really appreciated how the workers were very patient as we wanted to try most of the flavors. I thought parking was going to be an issue but there's lots of free parking around the block. This place is also in downtown Oakland, and we recommend visiting during the day. Overall, I strongly recommend you give them a try!

Yelp
This is a very cute ice cream shop in Uptown, next to Hot Bird. They have very unique flavors like shirkhand and quawa. If, like me, you don't know what those are, the staff will explain to you and there are also explanations listed on the cute ice cream wall to the right of the entrance. I had the lychee ice cream with raspberry rose and the cookies n cream. Both were very tasty. The ambiance--tastefully decorated, homey, cute.

Yelp
First off, excellent service! Cheyenne (I know I probably didn't spell that right I'm sorry lol) was really patient with us trying their assortment of flavors. Cookies was delicious as well. Cool little spot I'll be back!

Yelp
Miharu is an absolute must try ice cream spot and is certainly my go-to from now on! Their breakfast brownie, lemon w/ berry lavender, and matcha-ta are unmatched. I was pleasantly surprised by the matcha-ta because he combined it with horchata. Revolutionary! They were so divine I came back for a pint on the same day. They opened just over a month ago and I got the opportunity to talk to one of the owners, Dipen, for a bit. He has a gift of food innovation and he allowed me the honor of sampling some flavors that are in the works. They also had 5 different non-dairy / vegan options! If you're craving ice cream, you must check them out.

Yelp
So glad we went down the street to find Miharu First, the staff is awesome!!! They gave us recommendations of flavors to try and toppings. Super nice people! Came here on Friday night and got helped instantly. I got the banana nut with peanut butter sauce on top. Holy heavens. This is soooooooooo good. Words cannot describe. Already planning another trip over!

Yelp
I wasn't even very hungry and debated if I even wanted any dessert. But I'm glad I did because this is some of the best ice cream I've ever had. The prices were reasonable. They are happy to give samples. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
Yum to the max. Each scoop had layers of complex flavors dancing in your mouth. Delish.
