Mikado was an amazing experience from start to finish. The restaurant is spotless, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the service is fast and attentive. The food is delicious and high-quality, with great options for vegetarians as well — which I truly appreciated! The prices are also very reasonable for everything they offer. I left feeling happy and satisfied. I would definitely recommend Mikado to anyone looking for a great meal and great service

I chose Mikado to celebrate my fiancee’s birthday, and it was absolutely the right decision. Loved the ambience, food and the service. The team kindly accommodated my order and even surprised us with a yuzu cheescake, candle and a happy birthday song. Such a thoughtful touch! Wonderful service, delicious food, huge portions , and a memorable experience all around. Thank you!!!

We had such a great time at Mikado! I was worried about going with young kids who are picky eaters (9 and 7) The food looked and tasted amazing, the vibe was relaxed and welcoming, and everyone was super friendly. It’s also really kid-friendly — our kids can be tough to please, but they were obsessed. The server even gave them kid chopsticks, which they thought was the coolest thing ever. The food was awesome all around: •Yakitori– tender with a really good sauce. You could tell it was fresh. •Teriyaki chicken– soft, flavorful, and the rice was perfect. •Gyoza – veggie dumplings with great texture. •Maki rolls– California and shrimp tempura rolls were both hits. We also tried the salmon avocado and cucumber avocado! •Yuzu dessert– light, fluffy, and just the right hint of lemon and blueberry. I was really impressed with the flavor and texture and wished the slice was a bit bigger it was so good. We don’t usually eat dessert so that’s saying something. •Matcha pudding- not our thing, but if you’re into matcha, and not so sweet dessert you’ll love it. We’d 100% come back. The kids were already telling our waitress that next time we’re in NYC, **this is the first place we’re going**. Couldn’t have asked for a better dinner with my boys.

We have been in search for a new Japanese goto place and I think we have found it! The decor is very nice and refreshing. Flowers and paint masks add a really nice touch to the atmosphere. The food is amazing! We had gotten there at lunch and they have a lunch menu. I hear the drinks are great! Most come back to try that out another time.

We were out walking and I wanted a quick snack, so I got the salmon salad. It was perfect for a quick pick me up and not too heavy, tasted fresh, and the quality felt decent for the price (an expensive snack). Service was brisk but we only ordered takeout so we didn’t see much of it

Very lovely atmosphere with a beautiful maple tree and cherry blossoms adorning the area. Great service and even better food followed. Cocktails were delicious and very appealing to all crowds.

I stopped here by chance as I was running errands in the area. I ordered the premium sushi set. Just for about 60$ total (post-tax and tips), I got a good appetizer dish, a large platter of sushi, and a cute matcha pudding dessert. It turned out to be one of the most enjoyable dinners I've had here. Very good experience for very good price!

I'm surprised by the experience I had here! I've only heard good things from many many people, but didn't love my experience trying the sushi. I ordered Mikado's 4 rolls lunch special and got salmon avocado, yuzu scallops, yellowfin and jalapeño, and eel and avocado and had it delivered (so I cant speak to the service or ambiance). I really appreciated how it was packaged (very nicely and beautiful branding), and they give a lot of soy sauce which I appreciate. My order also came on time. They also gave generous portions of meat for each, and the fish tasted fresh. Unfortunately, the rice felt very gummy and mushy, so it made the roll a bit unappetizing. I would try this spot again given it's been recommended so often and am open to having my mind changed!

This is a review of their sushi delivery. I ordered a four maki sushi box and it was inedible. The fish was completely spoiled, smelled bad, extremely fishy, and the fish was BROWN. I wish I read the reviews because after looking up Google reviews of this place, other people reported delivery meals being "old, slimy, spoiled." This is a serious health violation. They are clearly serving old fish for delivery orders since they can't be refunded. This is disgusting behavior from a restaurant and they should not be in business. Note: I looked up the health rating for this restaurant on NYC Health and from Nov 12, 2024 they have 5 violations, plus 3 violations earlier this year in March 13. This is all public information that anyone can access by the way! It is also included in their Yelp page above. Their violations include - Live animal other than fish in tank or service animal present in facility's food or non food areas - this means rats. - Food contact surface not properly washed, rinsed, and sanitized - Filth flies or food/refuse/sewage associated with flies or other nuisance pets in establishment's food and/or non food areas. - Anti siphonage or back flow prevention device not provided where required. - Establishment is not free of harborage or conditions conducive to rodents, insects, or other pests. - Non food contact surface or equipment made of unacceptable material, not kept clean, or not properly sealed. - Cold TCS food item held above 41F smoked or processed fish held above 38F intact raw eggs held above 45F - Hot TCS food item not held at or above 140F These are just a few of their violations. Do not eat here or you could risk becoming seriously ill!

Took a weekend trip to Brooklyn with my sons and this is the first place chosen by them to try. Nice decor and it was warm and cozy. Service was great as the waitstaff was very attentive and helpful. The food was very good. I had miso soup and chicken teriyaki, my son, Jonathan had sushi and some hand rolls and Tristian had Nugari.

Went here for hh and was amazed with the deals that they had. Drinks are $5 and under and the sushi rolls are $6. They also have some small bites like edamame and sushi tacos. Sushi rolls are fresh and come out fast. Friendly service and they don't rush you out. Shrimp tempura and spicy tuna rolls are my fave here. Hh is weekdays 3:30-6:30pm.

Yum! We ordered delivery the other night for Valentine's Day and had a delicious meal. Four of us shared a few things. We started with the tuna balls and waygu beef appetizers and shared the special for 2, another combo, miso soup and the salmon don. Everything was fresh and tasty. Deserts were good too. Delivery service came at the later end of the window we selected and was good. Can't speak to the ambiance but if it's anything like the attention to detail that went into the food and packaging it's bound to be impeccable.

Came here for HH with a friend for their $6 sushi roll and $3 beer deal. The HH sushi rolls only have 4 pieces, just fyi. We got 5 rolls and an edamame to share. It was plenty for the two of us! I thought the edamame could've used some more salt, but overall it was good. The rolls were good, nothing amazing, but that's what I suspected with such a good HH deal. The fish was fresh, just not as tender and melty as other sushi I've had. Overall, it was exactly the meal we set out to have for a nice catch-up between friends.

I ordered the Mikado Deluxe Set on Uber Eats. The set was fantastic quality and a decent price given that it included uni! It included 8 pieces of sushi and a 4 piece of toro scallion roll. The fish tasted fresh and high quality, the uni serving was generous, and each piece of sushi had a little topping, Highly recommend this place, $38 for the set was absolutely worth it!

This place is super cute, quaint and vibe. I met my friend for a quick lunch. They have a lunch special but all the things I wanted were on the reg dinner menu. I had the crispy rice with spicy tuna, karage and the best yuzu margarita ( I subbed the tequila with mezcal and it was 10/10) Our server was very pleasant and patient but he kept making errors which would have ticked off a different type of person. ( not me) as long as the food is good its all good

Our experience started out fine. We came right at opening on Sunday, so our group was quickly seated. They gave us a private booth which was appreciated. Service was friendly and we were provided with complimentary nori because our toddlers kept asking for seaweed. They even gave us a refill which was really nice. Food was good but portions - especially for the dons - were quite small. Which is where our experience went from good to wtf. We got our check, on which we were charged $20+ per don. I thought this must have been a mistake because all of the dons we ordered off the lunch menu were listed in the $16-17 range, including the unagi don. I pointed this out to our server, he apologized and he reran our total. Thankfully I asked for a paper receipt, because on review of the receipt, they had only changed one of the prices of the dons. I went back to our server and asked why the prices were still incorrect, and his answer was 'that is the dinner price, because you guys got dinner sized portions'. I confirmed with him again that he had given us dinner sized portions, because as I mentioned above, I actually thought the portions were quite small. The server said yes, you had dinner sized portions and showed me the DINNER menu on which the prices were consistent with what we had been charged. I told him that we had never even seen the dinner menu, and had ordered off the LUNCH menu (it's around 1pm at this point and not even CLOSE to dinner). He just repeats again that we had dinner sized portions. I told him that they should not be charging customers prices off of menus that they are not ordering off of, even if they are being given different portions. That's totally unfair and not consumer friendly. He gave a really shit apology. Long story short, look carefully at your bills when you dine here. I guess everyone should be confirming they are getting the 'lunch sized' portion if they are ordering off the lunch menu. Who knew you couldn't even trust that!

WOW! I ordered through DoorDash and I was IMPRESSED with the quality and size of these maki rolls. I got other rolls from different places before with similar packaging, and it does not compare to Mikado! I got the salmon avocado maki, yellowtail jalapeño maki, salmon cucumber maki, & spicy salmon maki. All of it was really good and the fish was so fresh. The salmon cucumber maki was a bit plain, but it was still good. I also got miso soup and it was good as well. I would 100% order from this place again and would love to try this place in person if I'm ever back in the area.

The fish was fresh and tasty. The yellowtail was buttery, and the tuna had a nice sweetness. While the sushi was well-prepared and flavorful, some of the rolls could have been a bit more. Wish they added crunch to all the rolls to add a bit more texture. My favorite thing was the crispy rice and the tuna balls. The tuna balls really melt after each bite. Overall, a solid spot for sushi with room for improvement. I'd give it a 4/5.

Jumbo pieces of uni, salmon crispy rice, big portions of karaage appetizer, and outdoor seating, which is so rare at a Japanese spot. Fresh sushi, kind people working there. What more could you want?! 5 stars!!!!

Mikado is a nice spot with a beautiful ambiance. The Japanese red maple tree in the dark modern space transports me right back to autumn in Tokyo. I think Mikado has pretty awesome lunch specials. I have been twice and it's quite affordable for some fancy taco-style hand rolls. You can get 2 for $13, 3 for $17, 4 for $20. Come with soup or salad. I usually get 3 for $17 and haven't been disappointed. Fresh ingredients and a fun presentation! I will say the extras are probably not worth it. I got the wagyu uni ($10 more) and felt that it was not a good pairing. I love uni and would have preferred a dedicated uni roll. The uni and wagyu did not complement each other. I think the extra that is worth trying is the yuzu scallop ($2 more) since the scallop is quite fresh and flavors are elevated by the yuzu!

Came here last night after bouldering nearby and there was no wait. I came here for my birthday previously so I knew you would get a great value for your money here. I ordered the premium set and honestly my favorite was the salmon that came with the salad. The sushi itself was okay.. quite dry consistency for most of their peices however yesterday the Ikura was so salty I was not expecting it and wasn't a fan. Most of the Ikura I've had at other omakase spots were usually sweet and pops in your mouth this was was not it for me. Their yuzu margarita was delicious and you get a choice of dessert and hand roll with the premium set. I chose toro scallion for an extra $2 cause last time I chose yuzu scallop and the scallops were the weird dry consistency I mentioned earlier. Do note that they charge for tea (3.50) so might be more worth it to order beer

I came here for my birthday lunch and it was exactly what I wanted. Since it was a weekday lunch, it was quiet and service was quick. Plus, they offer lunch specials which I opted for. I ordered the Sushi & Handroll Lunch Set ($28), which came with 8pcs nigiri, handroll, and soup/salad. The boyfriend ordered the Braised Angus Beef Short Ribs ($30). The lunch set was such a good deal, so definitely come for that if you can. Everything was presented beautifully. I also had the Milk Tea cocktail ($15), which was so delicious. Loved everything from the food, service, atmosphere, plates, and aesthetics of this place. Great deal for sushi as well.

I came around 5:45 for happy hour, which ends at 6:30, and had no trouble getting seated for 2. The ambience is nice and inviting, with distinctive Japanese decor and ambient lighting. During happy hour, select rolls are $6 and bottled beers are $3. I ordered the crunchy spicy salmon roll and tuna avocado. Each came with only 4 pieces, but each piece was pretty thick and had a lot of fish. Both rolls were excellent, and I especially liked the spicy salmon. An order of edamame is also good bang for your buck at only $1. Can't speak to what the regular menu is like, but if you're looking for a good happy hour sushi spot priced at under $15 per person, Mikado is definitely for you.

Take-out review: This restaurant is gorgeous. I love the decor, it's so pretty and elegant. I made the trek here despite the rain and have no regrets! The order was ready and beautifully packaged. I got the four maki roll set and each piece was filled to the brim. The fish was incredibly fresh and they are so generous with the fillings. My favorite in order is yellowtail scallion, salmon, tuna and the eel avocado. Even their wasabi was high quality! I loved the wasabi. I'll spurge for the toro and scallops next time. I loved the food and would love to come back to dine in and try something else on the menu.

This is a review on delivery. Mikado is a new contender on the block. It focuses on quality over quantity versus the other everyday sushi fusion shops that focus on lunch specials and filling you up. Packing is top tier, you can taste the freshness and for those willing to pay a little bit more but don't need to the full experience, this is the spot for you. Taste: 5/5 Service: N/A had delivery Ambience: N/A had delivery Value for money: 4/5 We had: 1) 4 set maki roll - High quality and probably an easy go to 2) Crispy Rice - Deep fried rice, a bit gimmicky and it takes away from overall flavour but it's not bad 3) Sushi taco - good crunch 4) Truffle mushroom bacon rice - another highlight and recommended! All in all, this was a good refreshing spot versus your run of the mill sushi takeout restaurant. Would recommend giving it a try!

All I have to say about Mikado is wowwww ! We ordered delivery and everything was absolutely delicious. I really love that they take time to make sure they put in effort into their presentation. The sushi was delivered very quickly and in perfect condition I cannot recommend enough if you're looking for high-quality sushi delivery. I am grateful they are on Uber Eats and I'm looking forward to going there in person as the delivery experience was amazing.

Since my first review I've dined in person here many times. Just want to say, it's still awesome! The crispy rice here is still my favorite out of all the sushi places I've been. They now have (weekday only?) happy hour 4-8pm (I think). Great rolls for $6 as of today. There are some drinks on the HH menu too.

Our first time here in this newly opened location. The interior was decorated really well with paper lanterns, flowers, and artwork on the wall. We got the crispy rice to start, which had great texture. For mains, we got 4 hand rolls and the cheesy chicken Katsu donburi. I enjoyed the yuzu scallop and salmon avocado hand rolls the most. The cheesy chicken Katsu was okay. We got the yuzu cheesecake and matcha cheesecake for dessert. The yuzu was much better. Overall, solid sushi place. I'd like to try more of their expansive menu.

Did take out and was blown away at quality and freshness. We got the 2 maki roll and 4 piece sushi. The sushi was out of this world. We also ordered the crispy rice which is hard to find in sushi restos so I order it whenever I see it. Excellent as well. Can't wait to visit this restaurant and experience the service with the great sushi.

I would give this place a 3.5 stars because I decided to come here after seeing an advertisement on IG and we noticed that they updated this signature set to not include the Chawanmushi but did not replace it with another dish (the set was the same price). I asked one of the servers about it and they said that they updated the menu. This was upsetting because we were looking forward to it and one of the main reason we chose the signature set over the premium set. The cold soba noodles which was topped with king crab, uni, ikura and sesame dressing was really good and my most favorite dish. The tuna tart was okay, it lacked flavor. The "pickled" cucumber was not pickled at all, the cucumbers were "white" and not yellow from any vinegar. The ponzu jelly on the madai just tasted like full sodium soy sauce, so it was overpowering. The oyster with yuzu foam was very fresh and buttery. I chose the toro scallion hand roll and the rice wasn't vinegary enough and we were told that they would bring soy sauce and wasabi so we can add some flavor but it took too long and the seaweed became soft so I just ate it without anything additional. My fiancé got the scallop yuzu hand roll and it was really good. The fish in the 10 pieces of premium nigiris were really fresh but sliced very thin and the sushi rice again was not vinegary enough, it tasted like plain white rice. Overall, I don't think the experience was worth the price point. We ordered 2 signature sets, 2 beers and a cocktail and it was $240 total (tip included) for two people. Also for the price point, usually the restaurant uses freshly grated wasabi and not paste.

My first time trying this place and I had the best Fried rice EVERRR! It was cooked to perfection and big portion. Left me wanting more. The staff was very nice and attentive. I was suggested to try their New South African red wine by Ronal and so glad I did. The place is decorated beautifully and the vibes are immaculate. Thank you Ronal, Emily and Mikey for making this experience even better . I def will be back!

The way beef omakase was amazing. It's thoughtful, delicious, and makes you full! When was the last time you walk out an omakese saying "wow, in full". The chef changes menu from time to time.

Came here to celebrate and the entrees didn't disappoint! I tried the truffle mushroom bacon fried rice, signature buckwheat cold noodle and braised angus beef short ribs. Both the cold noodle and the short ribs were soo good. I was literally doing a happy dance while I was eating. For handballs I ordered spicy crab, scallop yuzu, spicy salmon and wagyu uni. I don't recommend is the wagyu uni. I thought the waygu was over cooked and it was not worth the $22 compare to everything I ordered with my friends. The service was good. The staff members were friendly. I do want to go back again to try their other entrees.

Had a blast for a weekend lunch at Mikado and cannot sing enough phrases about the amazing value of their lunch special! I believe it was $22 for 8 piece sushi lunch, 1 handroll, w/ option of soup or salad. This was soooo tasty and the fish were decent size pieces and very fresh. I would 100% come again!

Upscale environment, excellent and attentive service, and tasty food at a great value - what more could you ask for? Given its plethora of 5 star reviews, I was excited to try Mikado, and it very much lived up to expectations. Fish was very fresh and tasty, and their prices ($48 for a deluxe set made up of an appetizer, hand roll, 8 piece nigiri and dessert) are a bargain for the quality.

Greatest sushi in Brooklyn! Service is fantastic, too! You don't want to miss their Happy Hour. I love the shrimp tempura and eel cucumber rolls. I recommend sitting near the front where the ambience is warm and authentic. I am not crazy about the music, it doesn't fit with the cuisine. I would give it 4 stars and will most likely make this a regular place to enjoy sushi!

*delivery only* Who doesn't crave sushi and also not want to venture out into the cold? I was looking around at sushi shops near me and saw the great reviews! I usually have a go-to spot but they don't have crispy rice and I was craving it so decided to give it a go. The delivery was actually faster than estimated which was amazing! The sushi comes in really sturdy cardboard boxes which not only makes the display of sushi nicer, but keeps it protected during transit. Now for the sushi itself, the crispy rice was absolutely delicious and still a bit warm!!! I got a 4combo maki and all of them were delicious especially the yellowtail jalapeño and spicy salmon. Definitely would order from here again but also would like to dine in too!

Food was really good. The blue fin toro was the star. Torched salmon belly and spicy tuna hand roll was killing too. Black miso cod wasn't as good as I'd hoped, but it was clear to me that nigiri is where they shine. Wait staff was really nice and attentive. I liked the decor as well.

This review is solely based on take out. I have ordered the sushi and maki set 3 times so far. It was delicious every time and I'm always filled from the portion given. The fish was fresh. I definitely would want to try dining here to see if there's a difference between take out and dine in portions.

I was craving sushi the other day and saw this restaurant. Since I was by myself, I decided to sit by the sushi chefs on the barstools. They were so kind and welcoming. Sitting by the sushi chefts was pretty entertaining seeing each of the men make the sushi for the dine in experience and to go meals. The waiter was super kind and attentive which I appreciated. I ordered the Toro sushi and the eel cucumber sushi with the lavender lemonade drink. The serving size was different because the sushi comes is served in threes as opposed the eight pieces that I'm accustomed to. Interestingly enough, I was full by the end of the meal. The eel was delicious. However, the Toro sushi didnt really have a flavor, so I had to dip it in soy sauce which made it taste better. I usually just order eel every time I get sushi but I wanted to try something new and I'm glad I did. For dessert I had the red bean ice cream, which I slowly savored and enjoyed. The lavender lemonade was perfect. I highly recommend ordering it. I definitely would want to come back to this restaurant with friends or for a date.

Came here after work just as they opened for the day as I was craving sushi. The inside is beautiful and the menu looked interesting. Did the signature set which is basically their omakase and we were extremely full after. Ordered the uni and wagyu a la carte. Server was very attentive and the drinks were also quite good.

picked up an order. got some nigiri and a rice dish. the sushi was decent. maybe i waited too long when i got home to eat it. however the fried chicken rice dish was meh. nothing spectacular.

The former Mitoushi on Atlantic was a treasured place to me. I went there after school with friends, I enjoy their $2.95 rolls, and it is where I got my mom hooked on sushi. Imagine my surprise (and shock) when it was shut down. So when I saw that Mikado very recently replaced my old spot, I was intrigued. First off, the ambience is fancy. It reminds me of pictures of Tokyo in the fall, specifically in tea houses and similar. It is definitely NOT intentionally dimly lit which is a welcomed change. There is a bar in the front and a sushi counter in the back. They have the menu in the front window before you enter which I like because when I decided to order to go, I knew what I wanted. I decided to get a mikado deluxe set (9 pieces of selected nigiri) and shishito peppers. While waiting, they gave me water which was nice. It was after nine so there were only a couple tables left. The cutest thing was the box my sushi came into (not pictured). And when I got home, the sushi choices were good! Often with a deluxe set, you don't know how deluxe it would be and I have to say I was satisfied. It wasn't just straight nigiri but it had added toppings like yuzu juice or a spattering of dill. If you are familiar with sugarfish or domodomo especially their nigiri boxes to go, you will get the same vibe. I didn't add a picture of it because it got jostled during my travels home. Next time I will try their set menus especially the handroll one (4 for $27), or the premium set ($48). Overall, I can see myself going back to try food there for dine in. Definitely could see this as a date spot or a nice night out. Not a place for super cheap rolls but they have lunch specials as well as the sets I mentioned. It is somewhere I will go back to for sure.

I love this place! You can taste the quality of the fish in the cleanness of the flavor and firmness of the bite. It's the best sushi in the area without a doubt. I particularly enjoy the garnishes they put on top of the sushi to complement the flavor of the fish I order from them several times a month.

Ambiance - welcoming, relaxing, clean Service - excellent service/table manners, very attentive. Offered us some very refreshing complementary genmatcha tea. Food - Crispy rice was really good. They did not skimp on the ingredients. Fully loaded and tasted great. A good initial kick to it from the jalapeño. - Kaizen Don was full of fresh sashimi. Combination of flavors were excellent and the presentation with all the colors were beautiful. - Truffle Mushroom Bacon Fried Rice was spot on as far as fried rice goes. Even with the bacon it was not overly greasy. Hard to tell from my picture but it is actually a good size. I would definitely recommend as come back myself!

Prices were a bit high for the smaller portions we received. Barely attentive to us and the server forgot to write down the meal of one of the members of our party; additionally, a different meal was made incorrectly by the kitchen and had to be remade (chicken katsu vs chicken karaage). Not to mention, the matcha drink was more watered down milk than matcha. We thought it would be a decent restaurant since it had a 4.7 star review, however we were very disappointed at our service and meal.

The food is always excellent! Each time I go there I always try a different dish and am never disappointed. The prices are great and the beautiful atmosphere and decor is top notch to say the least.

New!!!! Opened less than a month ago.. replacing a previous sushi spot (no relation) The service at Mikado exceeded my expectations. They were so warm and inviting. The grand open is set for next month.. but it is already open for business. I discovered it last week and have already been there twice. I wish the lunch special came with some sort of soup or salad like most places... still very fresh and tasty.. and I plan to return for their bacon fried rice.. sounds amazing.

Gorgeous spot with giant, generous, tasty handrolls. Lunch is a steal at 4 rolls for $22.

I ordered sushi takeout from here and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste. Will definitely be ordering from here more often from now on.
