I’ve been a longtime customer of Mike & Patty’s and have enjoyed more than a dozen of their sandwiches over the years. The food is typically excellent — warm, flavorful, and thoughtfully made — which is why my recent visit was disappointing.
I ordered The McLustin, and unfortunately, it arrived cold and the flavors felt a bit disjointed. I also spent about ten minutes at the counter waiting for milk for my coffee, during which time the sandwich sat untouched and lost any warmth it might’ve had. Overall, both the service and the food quality felt inconsistent compared to my past experiences.
My mother’s sandwich was also lukewarm and underwhelming, which reinforced the sense that something was off that day. Perhaps the approaching nor’easter played a role, but the experience didn’t reflect the usual standard I associate with Mike & Patty’s.
I’ll absolutely return — I know how good this place can be — but this visit just didn’t live up to their usual quality.
