Mike's Bagels

Great place to order bagels with cream cheese or get some coffee and even order some fresh drinks. Since it’s next to the hospital, they deliver to the hospital. I was able to order bagels and lox, cold drinks, and hot coffee for the nurses at Columbia University hospital when my son was there and they all enjoyed it. Recommend them for sure.

It is quite disappointing that I will no longer be visiting Mike's bagel. My order is consistently the same: a well-toasted bagel with butter. Yet, they always manage to get it wrong. For the $2.18 per bagel with butter, one would expect to enjoy it rather than feel let down consistently.

While staying in the area we stopped in for some bagels. After picking up our order we were close to a block away when one of the employees ran us down to give us part of our order we forgotten to grab. That is some hospitality most businesses don’t offer! Oh, and the bagels were great!

Really good bagels The place was nice and organized, they have like 5 guys thar take your oder. The sand guy takes your oder, makes the bagels gets the coffee and get out paid and out the door. Very friendly people there and the bagels were delicious. My son really enjoy his sesame bagel with cream cheese.

Bagels are always fresh! Also always packed with enough cream cheese for 2 bagels. Very good!

Considering the abundance of great bagel spots in NYC, it's hard to rate Mike's Bagels above 3 stars. The bagels and spreads are all fine, but nothing really stands out here. The menu offerings are pretty standard, minus the lack of any breakfast sandwiches (no BEC). Service is quick, but the lines can get pretty long. On the few occasions I stopped by, I had the everything bagel with scallion cream cheese and the Italian combo sandwich. Prices are fine, so if you're looking for a quick bite, I'd check it out.

I wasn't a fan. Maybe my experience was a one off but I got there early in the morning and the bagels seemed a bit monotone; I got a bagel w butter. Not much fluffiness or bite to the bagel even though it was warm. Staff was really kind and kept the line moving. I would not come back but maybe this was a one time thing and there bagels are better than what I experienced.

It was my first time here today. When you walk in the smell of fresh bagels take over. A friend and I tried to order BEC ( Bacon egg and cheese) They had no eggs! I then proceeded to order sesame bagel with scallion cream cheese. I did not get it toasted but maybe I should have. The bagel to me was a bit on the hard side and the scallion cream cheese had a bit of a funky taste to it. I was very hungry so I ate the whole thing even though it was a bit hard. There is no where to sit and eat your bagel in the store. There is a little park area where we ended up sitting to eat our food. It was a bit hectic in there today. I am very rarely in this area so not sure I will be coming back here anytime soon.

I hate to give a bad review however I feel obligated to warn people about their coffee. It was the worst one that I ever had. For $1.90, I received black water. For a place called "'Mike's BAGELS", I should know the specialty is solely bagels.

Mikes rates a 4. The takeaway, no place to sit and enjoy. This is basically a get it to go. Staff was fast and efficient but smile less. Perhaps the busyness of Saturday morning's at 8 am. Bagel was definitely fresh with a good amount of cream cheese on my everything bagel. The bagel itself was the right amount of chewy and crispy making for enjoyable eating. Definitely a top 10 in my quest for the Holy Grail of the best bagel in NYC. If I'm in the area, I would enjoy a Mike's bagel again.

Yummy bagels, but wish there was more of a variety to select from. Plain bagel with the scallion cream cheese was fantastic and very fast service! Would definitely go back.

I went Mike's Bagel. I order 6 items the person who took my order was checking online orders so I guess he was distracted and he didn't heard. When I try to correct the orders they said it was made already. I gave my order to the homeless the one that was mess up and try to reorder my correct order no one would take my order. When I asked if someone will take my order server said you order already. I already paid for the order that was messed up don't see why I couldn't place a new order and I am paying. The cashier told the other worker to take my order. When my order was made it's was so sloppy keep in mind this was for my co-worker so I wanted to get the order correct. Didn't say anything to my co- worker and she was like where they angry why did the make the bagel so sloppy

Friendly staff, quick service, and great bagels. Great variety of bagels and spreads.

Bagel was not too impressive. They charge you a credit card processing fee 3.95% (~4%) Service is quick. Small place for grab and go. Is the Erin Special worth $5? Probably not. (See attached img) I'll withhold downgrading to a 3 until I try it once more. In general I wouldn't recommend this place.

Decent local bagel shop. They have the standard options and the pricing isn't too bad. I've had good and bad experiences here so I would say check it out for a quick breakfast but it's nothing special like the other bagel places in New York.

they do be working fast but they do be getting my order wrong. i ordered a SESAME bagel with SCALLION cream cheese but i somehow got an EVERYTHING bagel with BUTTER

Love coming here for the morning and/or lunch. This is a nice little no-nonsense shop with a wide selection of bagels and sandwiches with any toppings or servings that you could want. I ordered one chipotle chicken special on an onion bagel toasted. It was ready and served up within 3 minutes and it was absolutely delicious. Full of flavor with plenty of meat and huge proportions. Not too expensive for NYC bagels and quite the servings. A filling lunch for 10 dollars. Honestly I can split each half and call it two lunch servings. You are in and out within minutes, and the service is quite nice. They provide good recommendations and help you make your best bagel sandwich. This is a great place and recommend you try it. Every special has their own taste and they all are delicious so find your favorite.

Quick in and out!! The bagels are INCREDIBLE!! Everything, toasted with cream cheese is the way to go - as recommended by a local. No bathrooms, nowhere to sit. Still worth the walk. The staff was really sweet & efficient too.

Was recommended to go here for a bagel! So glad I went! I got the Maureen special! So fresh and filling. The queue was long but I got my food within 5 minutes!

Very solid bagels and the line here moves super fast! My boyfriend and I always get the everything bagel with scallion cream cheese toasted in the morning and it is sooo good. This might be a hot take but I like the bagels here better than absolute bagels near the Columbia undergrad campus No seating here but there are chairs outside near Haven Plaza a block away near the hospital if you'd like to sit!

I have been looking for a bagel place near upper Harlem and am so glad to have found Mike's! Service was quick and accurate, couldn't ask for better. I ordered an everything bagel with lox and scallion cream cheese. The bagel was amazing with perfect seasoning, and the taste of the entire thing was great. I personally wasn't a fan of the texture of the cream cheese- it wasn't as creamy as I would like. Not sure if it's just the scallion and it's not a deal breaker for me. Also note the bagels aren't wrapped in tin foil so they do lose some heat during transit! Luckily there's a square right outside to eat it in.

Little hidden gem, fresh bagels on a daily... My favorite item from the menu is the Erin Special!! Sesame toasted with scallion C/Chs & tomatoes... visit this spot you won't regret it.

I discovered this little spot right near Columbia Presbyterian when a family member was here over the course of a week, and it was quite the breakfast/snack lifesaver (for me. The medical staff at the hospital of course were the true life savers). Mike's is a compact, unadorned little shop with a real, traditional NY deli feel. They specialize in bagels and sandwiches in particular The highlight here for me is their incredibly interesting scallion cream cheese. Normally that's of course your traditional while cream cheese with some (hopefully) fresh and ample scallion slices dropped in. Not at Mike's, though. I thought they made a mistake with my order the first time, because they must blend or whip that sucker up into a green mixture that looks more like someone dropped a schmear of pesto on your bagel, but oh my was it flavorful. This of course became my go-to topping on virtually everything I got here. Breakfast bagel--scallion cream cheese. Turkey on a bagel--what would you like on it? Scallion cream cheese, of course. Come here and try it on something. And if scallions aren't your thing, I'm sure you can still get a bagel to your liking. These guys know how to properly bake and toast up a bagel, and will serve you in prompt, terse yet efficient, NY fashion Unfortunately their coffee is also true old fashioned NY deli style fashion in that it is a bit on the burnt and flavorless side, but you can always grab your coffee elsewhere. Bagels this good are harder to find.

I can't believe a boomer in the wrong line called these people slow at 9 in the morning. He was standing around waiting for attention in a crowded post-covid bagel spot with about a dozen hospital employees with actual places to be (we are definitely not seeing any of the Medicare in OUR futures). Somebody at the counter finally asked him if they could get him something and he spat out, "TOO SLOW" Thank God he left while grumbling on about it. They are super quick and the bagels are sooooo delicious. Not cheap but they significantly improve my mornings

The bagels are fresh and everything you would expect out of a NYC bagel, and that is about it here. The shop is tiny but they specialize in the staples of your classic bagel shop. Bagels: You have your classic assortment and can get them decked pretty much any way you want ( cream cheese, sandwich, spread, breakfast sammy, etc...) They offer them toasted as well, and you can get them by the dozen. Schmears: They have an absolutely large assortment of cream cheese options, along with egg salad and tofu options for you weirdos. Beverages: Your classic array of a little bit of all the options along with hot or iced coffee.

Solid bagel spot. Lots of cream cheese on every bagel you get. I've also had an Italian sandwich from here that was good. Service is always quick even when they are really busy. They don't have a grill. So don't expect a BEC. I love this local spot.

I really don't want to write this review, because I love that this place never has a line longer than 4 people, but I gotta show these guys some love. This place SLAPS! I've been to a ton of other places in the city, Zucker's, Black Seed, Tal Bagels, and this place trumps them each time in value and efficiency. A humble, but mighty tasty bagel awaits you here. Someone else mentioned their scallion cream cheese... it is indeed delicious. They put so much scallions in it the cream cheese is green, GREEN I TELL YOU. It's like a lovely onion punch to the face, in a good way. I get an everything bagel extra toasted (don't judge me) with scallion cream cheese and tomato. The dudes behind the counter hustle-- they're really riskin' it for the biscuit back there, I always try and show them a little love in the tip jar. NEVER CHANGE, MIKE'S BAGELS-- AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAKE SOME MERCH SO I CAN GIVE YOU MORE OF MY MONEY.

I love this place , bagel is the best breakfast for me and I try to avoid eating them a lot, but it is hard to resist fresh, warm and tasty everything bagel ... the staff is fast , the place is small so they try to get you in and out as quick as possible! I got the cream he'd and smoked salmon everything bagel! Delicious

Quick, delicious would recommend as a stop on a walk. Lox spread and an everything bagel is the classic choice.

Bought 1/2 dozen (7) bagels. 2 pumpernickel, 2 sesame, 3 everything. Delicate, crispy shell of an exterior with a fluffy, chewy inside. There's a little deli inside to make cold cut bagel sandwiches, etc. Also bought olive & veggie cream cheese. Can't beat the freshness and price. Definitely coming back. Their egg bagels are amazingly bright orange (fresh eggs, methinks).

Best bagels in the area hands down. Their chicken salad is the best! Only thing missing are egg sandwiches

They have great bagels here. My favorite is the whole wheat everything. I either eat the bagels plan or the lox spread is also really good. Highly recommend!

HIGHLY recommend the MAUREEN SPECIAL. Got to go try it. Only place in the city I've found that has it.

I was walking by Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and found this little gem! There's no seating inside, so it's very much an order-and-go type of place. There's a very small park nearby if you want to go there to eat, but the sandwiches are wrapped very nicely such that you could probably eat it on the go if you wanted to. They have quite a number of options, but don't forget to look to the wall to the right of the register because there are additional menu items hidden there behind the drinks (included in pictures). The Nova Scotia was really good overall. They definitely give a good portion of lox, and I believe the amount of cream cheese was just right. I would definitely order this again, no doubt about it! The fire and ice sandwich was a bit more disappointing because it really had no "blazing buffalo" at all. It's not anything to down-star them about, though, because the workers were all very polite and attentive to our orders.

Small but popular breakfast spot. My usual order is an everything bagel toasted with scallion cream cheese. Bagel is always toasted well & they are very generous with the amount of cream cheese. Hope to try their other menu options, but that bagel with scallion cream cheese does it for me every time.

Nice find in the Washington heights area! The bagels are freshly baked and you have a good selection to pick from. The bagels are fresh and chewy. But I think the highlight here are the spreads. I got the everything bagel with scallion cream cheese and the cream cheese won the show. Definitely rich and tasty! Prices are also very reasonable! Nice breakfast choice for people in the area!

Small spot but big impact with great bagel sandwiches. I was visiting and fell on to this place. Glad I did. Highly recommend.

First time here, bad experience, drove in from PA, skipped Bagelmania in Lodi NJ to give Mike's bagel a chance. Did not work, first impressions are lasting impressions. I was in line in front of the register to the dislike of the sever, he took the next customer to my side, when I gestured I was next. He told me off, explained without being asked an explantation, how the line was on the other side, maybe he needs a sign stating so. Mike's bagel is 5 minutes from my job, bagels were okay but I will not return because of the service I did not receive.

This has been my go to weekend breakfast place for a couple years. They recently increased prices though. A toasted bagel with flavored cream cheese is now $4.25, which is a little steep. However, if you get bagels to go (without any spread), each is $1.10. If you buy 6, you get one free. They are very generous with the cream cheese. Half of it usually ends up falling out the bottom when I take bites of the bagel. And the texture and flavor of the bagels can't be beat, especially the everything bagel and the sesame bagel. Highly recommend the jalapeño spread-it has quite the kick to it! They are an efficient business so don't be nervous if there are lots of people inside. The wait won't be long at all. There are no seats-it's a grab n go kind of place.

We hit this place every morning! Delicious bagels and even more delicious smear! Delish! Can't wait to travel back again!

I honestly hate to give a 2 star review, especially during this pandemic. However, Mike's just didn't measure up to other amazing bagels I've had. Are they the worst? Absolutely not. I would give the bagel itself like a 3.5. Now....I saw another review raving about the scallion cream cheese. This was a MAJOR turnoff for me! I'm cringing thinking about it right now because I can not for the life of me pinpoint what is the ingredient that's is in there which isn't in others?! Not sure why I think it may be cilantro-ish? Either way, it was not for my palette at all. Due to this, I didn't finish my bagel. Additionally, they don't make egg sandwiches. Whaaaaaat? That's nuts to me in NYC! A bacon, egg, and cheese is literally a NYC staple for the love of God! They do however, have cold spreads such as egg salad etc. The staff were fairly nice and there wasn't a minimum for a card which was great. Had I gotten a regular cream cheese, I'm sure this rating would've been a overall 3 stars. You can't go wrong with a no frills bagel from this place especially if you are in the hospital. This immediate area is somewhat limited with good places to eat so maybe that's why there is a 4 star rating?

Scallion cream cheese!! Orgasmic on a toasted sesame or everything bagel. Such a wonderful place to have right in the neighborhood.

Here is the gist of it: I order a simple bagel sandwich and it cost me a whopping $14. The bagel was small and not on the type bagel I had requested. Mike's does not offer eggs, which is odd for a bagel shop. This place is a disappointment.

Update to my previous review: There is one guy here who puts HARDLY ANY cream cheese on the bagels. I usually try to avoid him taking my order but sometimes I get unlucky.

One of the real gems in the heights. This is THE go to bagel place in the heights and it shows from how busy it is. The bagels come out fresh and delicious every day. If you're early, don't worry about toasting them! Like others have mentioned, they are very, very generous with their spreads. I usually get two lox bagels with cream cheese and a coffee for $10, which is incredibly reasonable for NYC. My girlfriend is obsessed with the whitefish sandwich or the scallion cream cheese on a whole wheat everything. They have a bunch of other sandwich specials that are pretty good as well! On weekends or lunchtime, they will be a long line, sometimes out the door, but you get your bagel quick none the less. There's only a small amount of standing room so expect to take them to go. Really one of the highlights of wash heights.

Good spread and they put plenty of it on there. My favorite would be the garlic with lox or scallion spread. Bagels here are consistently fresh and there's always a line. Guys at the counter are extremely efficient, so you better have your order ready to go by the time you hit the counter. It could get a bit chaotic during peak times, as the store is small and there really isn't much room to maneuver. While the specialty options are noticeably more expensive, they do load them up pretty well. Of course, can't go wrong with the classic Nova Scotia lox and cream cheese when you're at a good bagel place like this one.
