Metro Detroit 2020 Restaurant and Bar Closures Tracker | Eater Detroit

"I reported that Mike’s Coney Island, an Eastern Market tenant of controversial landlord Firm Real Estate, closed permanently on Tuesday, December 31; the building had been earmarked for demolition last summer—prompting calls to make Eastern Market a historic district—and the owner intends to open a new supply store nearby on Russell Street selling items like cleaning supplies and limited groceries." - Brenna Houck

Coney Island Closes in Eastern Market Building Threatened by Demolition | Eater Detroit

"An Eastern Market eatery closed permanently on December 31 after being located in a building that a major landlord earmarked for demolition last summer; those development plans and the landlord’s recent property acquisitions prompted community calls to designate Eastern Market as a historic district. The owner plans to open a nearby supply store on Russell Street selling cleaning supplies and a limited selection of groceries." - Brenna Houck

If you are looking for a family friendly diner, this is the spot. We always have great service and our food has always been accurate, the proper temperature, and delicious. Breakfast all day keeps me coming back! Only 4 stars because I wish they were more handicap accessible, its doable but tricky.

Mike's Coney Island Restaurant is an absolute gem! I've visited a few times, and each experience has been nothing short of fantastic. The food is consistently delicious, with their soups, burgers, and special board items stealing the show. The soups are hearty and flavorful, the burgers are juicy and perfectly cooked, and the specials always bring something unique and exciting to the table. What truly sets Mike's apart is the exceptional service, especially from Sara, who is an absolute superstar! She’s attentive, friendly, and makes every visit feel warm and welcoming. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff clearly takes pride in what they do. If you're looking for a spot with great food and top-notch service, Mike's is a must-visit. I can’t wait to come back!

I have never been so disappointed. Spent three dollars on a carry out. I French dip sub the meat is so tough. I can barely chew it. My son got a country omelette. It is not a country omelette. There’s gravy and it had corn beef in it. The only thing that was edible was the grilled cheese. I spent $30 and only thing edible is the grilled cheese

We’ve been coming to Mikes for over 5 years now. Each visit it slowly gets more disappointing. My wife and I went in this morning, sat at a table and were given our drinks then we proceeded to watch the servers help 3 other tables who walked in after us. Meanwhile we are patiently waiting with our menus closed hoping our order will be taken. It never was. After almost 15 of waiting watching servers continue to walk by and help others my wife and I left without ever putting in a food order. Pretty said considering it used to be our go-to several times a week.

Margaret was our server, she was excellent & courteous, gave helpful suggestions (I have allergies). I deliberately drive to Holly just to go there (I live in a different city), will continue to come back, food that's so so good.

Phenomenal across the board. The food here was amazing. They also accommodated us and made us a special burger " The Motor City Villain Burger" Pictured above. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

I am really upset because I really loved this place prior to today. We just moved to Holly in the last few years and we brought our family often to celebrate accomplishments but today they ruined that for me. We brought 11 people in for lunch after running a charity 5k to celebrate and when someone in our group (with an eating disorder) asked to order off of the kids menu because they preferred that brand of mac and cheese we were told we couldn’t because they were over 12. We asked if we could order it for one of our 2 toddlers then and we were also told no. We offered to pay adult price for the Kraft Mac and Cheese and were told no. The owner told us she would “do it for us just this once” but it is one of this persons only safe foods and the only thing they can eat on the menu so therefore, she now has nothing she can eat there and we won’t be back. It’s a shame they ruined what was a celebratory lunch for us and I’m really sad that one of my loved ones was put in such an awful position when she already struggles to find food she likes.

Breakfast was nicely, hash browns golden brown. As far as the ingredients in the omelet, they were fine except for the sausage had no flavor and the mushrooms were canned, so sad. Could have been a perfect meal
