The 22 Best Restaurants In Vancouver 2024

"Miku was the first spot to do aburi-style, or lightly flame-seared, sushi in Vancouver, and while you’ll find a lot of other places using the technique around the city, they still do it best—theirs has the perfect amount of char, plus a secret miso mirin mayonnaise sauce. The salmon aburi is a classic and our favorite, but you can’t go wrong with the other options on the menu. This place is in a really busy area along the Vancouver waterfront where there are a lot of cruise ships, hotels, and tourists, so it’s a good idea to book ahead. Try and get a seat near the window so you can enjoy seeing more of the harbor, and less of the people asking everyone where the Gastown Steam Clock is." - carolyn b heller, amber gibson

Miku

"Visitors and locals alike flock to Miku. With views of Vancouver Harbor, it could coast on its looks alone, but this reliable spot instead offers high-quality dishes without the sticker shock. Sustainability is paramount; the menu proudly indicates when the selection is Ocean Wise-approved. This is a kitchen that deliciously fuses elements of French and Italian cuisine into the well-known Japanese canon. Impeccable seafood is paired with elevated sauces for memorable results. Aburi salmon oshi sushi, with wild sockeye salmon, jalapeño and their special sauce, elicits an emotional response—artists have even submitted drawings of this decadent delight. Pressed, cooked prawn with lime zest and ume sauce is deeply flavorful; house-cured mackerel with miso is yet another win." - Michelin Inspector

"Miku Vancouver is home to some of the best sushi outside of Japan, and this waterfront restaurant is no exception. Opened in 2008, Miku introduced the city to Aburi-style cuisine, which involves nigiri with grilled fish. Start your meal with the salmon oshi —tiny bricks of sustainable, Ocean Wise–approved fish, flame-seared and topped with disks of jalapeño. Also worthy of attention are more filling dishes like the marbled, beautifully tender Joshu Wagyu steak, served with ponzu, wasabi pickles, pink Himalayan salt, daikon radish, and garlic-sake soy sauce for an umami kick. If you’re in the mood to celebrate, opt for the kaiseki-style chef’s tasting menu, an exquisite presentation of seasonal flavors on artisan-made Arita pottery."

Just had the most incredible dinner at Miku Waterfront tonight and I'm still blown away! Our server, Wassan S, was absolutely phenomenal - attentive, knowledgeable, and made our entire evening special. They guided us through the menu perfectly and their recommendations were spot-on. The food was next level! We tried the Miku Kaiseki and Waterfront Kaiseki which were both artistic masterpieces that tasted even better than they looked. The sushi rolls (especially the Dynamite and Surf & Turf) were incredibly fresh, and the pan-seared scallops were cooked to perfection. The lobster ceviche was a delightful surprise that had amazing flavor complexity. The drink program here is also exceptional - the Ginger Yuzu Gimlet and Yuzu Kosho Caesar were creative and delicious, and the sake flight was perfectly curated. Even the wine selection (we had the Chaberton Chardonnay) paired beautifully with our meal. The atmosphere, service quality, and food execution make this a truly special dining destination. Wassan made sure we felt welcome from start to finish and elevated what was already going to be a great meal into an unforgettable experience. Can't wait to come back! Highly recommend for any special occasion or when you want to treat yourself to something extraordinary.

Possibly the best sushi and sushi experience I’ve ever had. The plates were gorgeous without being pretentious. The sushi was fresh and everything we ate was delicious. This could be my new favourite sushi spot. We had a seat overlooking the water which was great. We went at lunchtime during the week, the service was attentive and professional. My only complaint is the acoustics aren’t the greatest in the section to the right, it’s actually pretty noisy so kind of difficult to have a conversation, but not impossible. Still worth it and the price was quite reasonable for what you get. I’ll definitely be back.

I celebrated my bday here and it was one of the best dining experiences. First of all our server was very knowledgeable. He made our ordering very easy. The food was fantastic. I’ve been to many omakase/multiple michelin stars- (also I’m from NYC lol)- and this place is def top 10 for me. Everything was fresh and delicious. Cannot wait to go back!

It’s not my first time. I’m not sure but not a big fan of the aburi today than the last one I had. But the sable fish is still a favourite. Maybe it’s my taste buds today, or I feel like the balance of flavour wasn’t the same, I couldn’t tell much. I could be wrong. Felt like the texture of the aburi was quite dry- the rice to be more specific. Maybe because we started lunch at 2pm eh. But it’s still a nice place to be at. Atmosphere would be great if seated by the glass window overlooking Vancouver Place. Been here several times, I’d say service has always been commendable.

A great fancy team dinner spot very close to Canada place. Huge seating area indoor with tasteful design of Japanese themed interiors. Service is lovely, you'll be sure have your drinks refilled timely and without feeling rushed despite the timed seating. A good selection of vegetarian options - the truffle ravioli is to die for! The cocktails, especially the Japanese themed with fruit and Umeshu collection is a must. If you love caviar, you have plenty of options to choose from. Definitely not easy on the wallet, but you know that walking into the restaurant. A good spot for celebrations and well you want to feel a little fancy :).

My review is long overdue but we had the most memorable anniversary dinner here with a very warm, attentive and engaging server named Zachery, I believe. I don’t usually remember waiters’ names but I made a point to recall his. Every bite was delicious and though we shared our plates to make our buck go further they didn’t make us feel like we were being cheap at all. They even surprised us with a dessert to celebrate the occasion. Lovely experience and want to come back soon to try more new dishes!

Google
Exquisite Japanese cuisine. Six of us dined here today and each ordered a Miku Aburi Coursed menu ( 7 courses ). Not only was the seafood incredibly fresh, but the preparation was also exceptionally refined. The seasoning had great depth and really enhanced the natural sweetness of the seafood. Absolutely delicious! 👍

Who can ask for more? We come here every time we’re in Vancouver. Great waterfront views, fantastic food quality & presentation, excellent service from Cameron & the presentation crew. This visit we had 1 Miku Kaiseki & 1 Waterfront Kaiseke fixed price menu. We were impressed & stuffed! Had to box my fave Aburi Sushi! Pricey but well worth every penny from the original providers of Aburi sushi! Much better than Miku Toronto. Thank you Miku Vancouver!! We’ll be back!

Yelp
Came in based on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. I ordered the Deluxe Shokai. The presentation would beautiful and it was just as delicious if not more so. The variety was perfect. From a scallop to sashimi to beef wagyu. I sat at the bar which was a great spot. The cocktails were also delicious. My server was very helpful especially since it was my first time at this restaurant. I loved the decor inside as well. I cannot say enough about this restaurant.

Yelp
I didn't realize this was a Michelin-star restaurant until I was seated staring directly at their plaque. I was grateful for the chance to eat sushi so incredibly close to the source and had high expectations for how everything tasted. The little sushi I had lived up to the hype. Fantastic. Fresh, flavorful, served without any kind of embellishment since they included all flavors to be incorporated in the dish already. We also tried the beef carpaccio, which I was not as big a fan of... the slices were generous, but the sauce it was served with wasn't particularly flavorful. We also ordered a salad which was fine, but not particularly novel. So it goes, at a sushi restaurant you really ought to try the sushi.

Yelp
Had such a fantastic lunch here in Vancouver! First off, Miku is near the harbor and provides nice water views while dining. Next, the prices here are so good and reasonable for the quality of service and food that you get. Service here was really awesome and attentive. Our waitress was so sweet and also gave really great descriptions of the food while we decided what to order! I decided to get the Deluxe Shokai. The presentation of the first course was gorgeous! It came in an urn that became three plates when disassembled. The first course comes with 3 pieces of sashimi, some ribeye and mashed potato, and a scallop in a cream sauce. I loved the scallop! The cream sauce was so tasty and decadent; I honestly could have eaten a bowl of just the sauce. The ribeye was pretty standard, and the sashimi tasted fresh and I enjoyed dipping it in their house made soy sauce. The second course was the sushi and it was such a feast for the eyes as well. It comes with 10 different pieces of sushi that were presented beautifully. Each individual piece was delicious in its own way but my fave had to be the Red Wave Roll! I loved the texture that the tobiko gave to the bite. I also thought the pressed sushi was such a unique idea that I've never eaten before! Each sushi piece also comes pre-sauced so you don't need to put anything extra on top! One of the best sushi experiences I've had in a while! For desert the deluxe shokai comes with a Green Tea Opera which was green tea ice cream and a green tea cake. The cake was so good! Our waitress told us that it takes them 3(!) days to make the cake and it definitely shows! A really lovely desert that was the perfect end to the meal. I am absolutely coming back the next time I am in Vancouver!

Yelp
Miku is a beautiful restaurant with excellent service! Must try their Aburi sushi. My wife and I got the Premium Sushi Lunch and it was really good! 12 pieces included their Aburi Salmon, Aburi Ebi (Shrimp), Aburi Albacore (Tuna) and Aburi Hamachi, along with a chutoro spoon. The rectangular shape of their Oshi sushi was unique - what was missing was their sushi rice wasn't on point. Other than that, the value for what you get is fantastic and I'd recommend checking out Miku - reservations needed!

Yelp
The restaurant is a vibe. We sat at the bar, our server/bartender was attentive and knowledgeable. He explained the menu to us, and also let us try the sake. The service was fast, the sushi was fresh and the drinks were refreshing. I can see myself going back on my next visit.

Yelp
We got here at 5 to do a walk-in and got to enjoy some outdoor dining while the weather was still nice. They are known for the salmon oshi roll and it came out towards the end of our meal, but it was my favorite bite and I wish it came out earlier so that I could've tried it earlier and potentially ordered more before I got full on other food. The house made sauce was like an elevated mayo, super tasty. The touch of grill flavor was *chefs kiss* Here's what we got in the order it came out: Sashimi platter - hamachi was the best. Salmon was leaner than normal salmon. Poke fish was different than the large pieces Soft shell crab - good, mayo was savory and flavorful Ebi fritter - equally as good as soft shell crab Prime rib - good, wasabi pickle went well with it Sablefish - corn emulsion was a good accompaniment Salmon oshi roll - favorite bite, definitely get this! Bayun uni spoon - good but not special especially compared to the salmon oshi

Yelp
Miku is a Vancouver classic for a reason. I've had the pleasure of visiting a handful of times and every time, the quality is top notch. Some of my favourite items are the Miku signature selection and king salmon nigiri. The quality of the sashimi is so fresh and the rice has such a luxurious aroma. I highly recommend this restaurant as a date spot or for special occasions. The dining room with regular tables is much better than the bar room by the main entrance in my opinion. The bar room is sushi bar and high top tables, more of a casual vibe but if you want to the gorgeous view, try to get a table in the dining room. The service differs depending on the waiter. I've had really exceptional service and sub par service, it really just depends on the person.

Yelp
A really great first experience! I was staying at a hotel directly across the street, and heard so many good thinks about Miku Vancouver. Since I've tried Miku Toronto, I was so excited for the opportunity to try this location. We got: Miku Signature Selection Salmon Oshi Sushi Green Tea Opera The food was so incredibly delicious and fresh! It was so light and refreshing, thag I truly felt like I could 50pc of sushi. The service was also really great, the staff were friendly and attentive. I also appreciated the fact that the servers explained the dish to us every time they brought out a new one. There is so much attention to detail, and you can really tell they put a lot of thought and effort into everything they serve. Lastly I tried the Green Tea Opera dessert, which looked like a masterpiece, and had the best matcha ice cream I've ever had. This restaurant is a little on the pricy side, but the great service and delicious food are definitely the reason why.

Yelp
I'm sad this is so far from home, because it was the best sushi I've ever had. I tried literally everything. I wish I'd taken more photos. The beef carpaccio is a must, as is the lamb with brussels (I don't usually like lamb). I also really liked the calamari (very light, not chewy), but I feel like it needed a sauce other than soy sauce. They had the freshest sweet shrimp I've ever had. It was like butter. Overall, the Signature plate has a good variety, and is highly recommended. It helps you decide what you might want more of. They have inventive cocktails, but also a good selection of wine. Service was phenomenal. The vibe is not that they chat with you, it's purely good service. Everything was like a work of art, and so, so fresh.

Yelp
Miku is a must when you're in Vancouver! Make sure to reserve asap because they get really busy. Salmon Oshi Sushi - The best thing I ordered! I honestly could've gotten 2 of these and would've been satisfied. The rice is so perfectly firm so the roll doesn't break apart and the salmon is flavorful. Miku roll - This is a must order since it was named after the restaurant. I enjoyed it! Green tea dessert - This came with a sesame little cracker so it was a good twist on your regular green tea dessert. The portion was a bit small but really good regardless. Customer service - Quick & friendly!

Yelp
Amazing food and service. Ambiance was amazing near water front. Plenty of public parking nearby. It's expensive parking since it's near the water front but well worth it. The service was amazing because our waiter new menu and made amazing suggestions we listened to and ended up loving. That's tough and restaurants and was a pleasant surprise. Location and interior was modern and upscale. We got an array of sushi and two deserts but all in all very memorable experience!!
google avatar

Candice S.

Yelp
The service and ambiance are great. Some of the menu items we had were good. Unfortunately, I was incredibly sick for the next 24 hours. I recommend ordering off their regular sushi menu and not the Kaiseki menu like we did.
google avatar

Tammy E.

Yelp
My brother highly recommended this place to the rest of the family so naturally we had to try it out. It was a unique menu with flame seared sushi. We came for my dad's early birthday celebration and enjoyed all of the various dishes. Parking was a challenge as the map doesn't show how to enter the building where the restaurant is located. We ended up parking pretty far away and walking for a bit. We didn't have a reservation so had the last few seats at the bar top. All in all it was very good, and with a view, too!
google avatar

Leslie L.

Yelp
Service and vibes were phenomenal, however I will have to agree with other reviewers who gave low reviews -- I was unfortunately disappointed with Miku. We got the Miku Kaiseki course with high expectations from all the overwhelming reviews in addition to the popular salmon oshi. While their cooked dishes, sashimi and cocktails were excellent, the sushi (including the salmon oshi) fell short which ironically is what they're known for. To echo what others have said, skip this if you're used to good sushi from California/Japan.
google avatar

Carlene W.

Yelp
There is no other sushi on earth that will ever be able to top Miku for me. We got into Vancouver fairly late for a work trip and landed on Miku, for a colleague who'd never been to Vancouver and wanted to see the waterfront and eat good food. Miku is always recommended by everyone, so of course that's where we took him. While we were seated in the back room that doesn't have quite the same ambiance, the care was the same. Our waiter explained everything to us, took the time to go over my gluten restrictions and variations, and gave recommendations that we all went with. The sushi sampler is really where it's at and it was a treat to all take the same bite and discuss our thoughts after. This isn't sushi that needs soy sauce dumped on it, this is delicious, made perfectly sushi that you cannot replicate. Truly an elite experience and one I can't wait to have again.
google avatar

Naomi W.

Yelp
The restaurant itself is incredibly huge. There's a waiting area away from the main dining area so that was actually nice. I didn't realize it was Michelin rated until I saw the signs posted. The waitstaff was fantastic. Our server was very friendly and overall made my group very welcomed. We all ordered the Miku Kaiseki Set Menu. The chawanmushi and the sashimi was great. The sous vide lobster tail was fine and honestly a bit disappointing. The Wagyu beef was good but my two friends I went with agreed that the eggplant tartlet really was not good in any way. It was mushy and didn't have any flavor. I had the green tea dessert was disappointing as I didn't feel that the flavors meshed well together. Regardless, thankful for our server that really helped make our experience enjoyable.

Yelp
Came here with a group of six and wow this was an amazing experience Good - Right next to the waterfront, great views - Fast service, food came out so fast - The sushi was amazing, especially loved one that was like a sandwich with tuna on top and in the middle - Soba noodles were refreshing and savory - Fried shrimp tempura were tasty too! - I usually don't like lamb chop but the chop here was so tender - Very filling food Bad - The food was expensive overall Overall it was a really solid experience
google avatar

Valerie T.

Yelp
I first had Miku in Toronto with my best friend for a girl's night out and absolutely fell in love with their aburi oshi sushi. So when my boyfriend and I planned a trip to Vancouver, I knew I had to take him to Miku to celebrate our anniversary as well. Tip: make sure to make reservations beforehand, it's very popular. "Aburi" means flame-seared and "oshi" means pressed, so aburi oshi sushi is flame-seared pressed fish on top of rice. Miku offers three types of aburi oshi sushi: salmon, ebi, and saba. I haven't tried the other two because I've only gotten the salmon at both restaurants. I wish I ordered an extra order because it was so good - the seared salmon just melts in your mouth and the oil from the salmon seeps into the rice to give it extra flavor. For our meal, we ordered: - Lobster Risotto - the lobster was deep fried as tempura in squid ink batter - Chef's special nigiri selection - 6 pc Salmon Oshi Sushi - Green tea opera cake The restaurant dimmed the lights as the evening went on, giving it a nice ambience to our experience. I can't wait to come back to get the salmon oshi sushi again!!

Yelp
I am very disappointed by this place. I am a bit surprised by variance of review before coming to this place and I now know why. There sushi rice is severely over their lifetime. Sushi rice must be made fresh and cooked ideally in front of you while you are arriving. Their must be cooked a few hours ahead of time, which in many upscale placed are considered expired. Their recipe is noval. Had the food is fresh, it would well worth the price. However, I am appalled by this behavior. In my opinion, this is a disgrace to the sushi restaurant and the head chef should be ashamed. When I at the restaurant, it was fully booked and seated. Service is fine.
google avatar

Gabriele E.

Yelp
From the service to the last bite of rice, everything was amazing! The sushi was incredible quality, and the specialty sauce that they put on top and then torch is to die for! I am so happy we made a reservation. It was also great to see wait staff eager to tell you about the dish they were serving. We will definitely be coming back the next time we are in town! Also, couldn't forget that we had an amazing view!

Yelp
I saw this restaurant on one of my visits to Vancouver ... It's right across the street from the Pan Pacific Hotel, my home away from home. The menu is more extensive than at the lobby restaurant in the Fairmont Pacific Rim, and I've found the quality to be comparable, at a slightly lower price point. I tried something different this time, the Deluxe Shokai ($75), my sister-in-law (SIL) had the Traditional Sushi Lunch ($45). We shared a Soft-Shell Crab appetizer ($21) and we had several Empress gin & tonics. The soft-shell crab was fine ... pieces of crab sat on a bed of miso slaw and yuzu mayo was drizzled on top. The Shokai is art as food ... Mine came in a three-layer bowl with three pieces of sashimi in the first tier, two pieces of beef in the middle layer and a grilled scallop in the bottom tier. These were petite servings ... Lucky for me because it also came with a platter of sushi ... 3 different maki, 4 nigiri and 3 pieces of pressed sushi. I was hard pressed to eat everything. SIL's sushi platter came with 7 nigiri sushi, 6 pieces of bluefin negitoro maki and a small salad of baby bok choy with a miso dressing. My Shokai came with dessert, but I passed it to my SIL, who loved it! Miku is great and busy, busy, busy. Make sure you make a reservation to ensure you'll be able to enjoy their food. Highly recommended!

Yelp
One of my food highlights when I visited Vancouver! This was my first time having torched sushi, and it really is next level. The serving staff was very helpful and everything we had tasted excellent. I also really liked their sweetened soy sauce as I thought it had added dimension. Would come again.
google avatar

Megan D.

Yelp
We eat sushi a lot, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but Miku exceeded my expectations! The inside is super bright and inviting, with a great view. While the host seemed indifferent, our server, Chelsea, was fantastic and truly made our meal even better. We decided to do family style so we could try a little bit of everything, and the food came out really fast. They clearly pay attention to detail here, which I really appreciated. The ebi fritter appetizer was the perfect mix of juicy and crunchy--the shrimp was cooked just right. The deluxe shokai was definitely the highlight of the meal. It comes with three small appetizers, a sushi platter, and a dessert. The wagyu appetizer from the shokai with mashed potatoes and sprouts was absolutely amazing. I also loved how the sushi platter offered a taste of everything, with my favorite being the red wave roll--it had a great flavor and was refreshing. The surf and turf roll was good too. All of the fish was super fresh, and everything that we tried was delicious. If you're looking for sushi in Vancouver, I'd definitely recommend this spot. It's probably a good idea to make a reservation since they do get busy. The prices are also very reasonable considering the quality and service you get!

Yelp
1st time in and loved the store. I went in because I'm obsessed with pens/mechanical pencils and saw them through the window but was pleasantly surprised to find beautiful houseware items (great bowls!), clothing for everyone in the family (super cute sweaters/jackets!), moisturizing lotions, and wide tip toothbrushes (I bought 2!). Just visiting Vancouver but plan to keep my eye out for more of these locations on my travels. Fun store. Reasonable prices. You should check it out!

Yelp
Last dinner in Vancouver and had sushi on my mind. Miku didn't have reservations available online, but after calling, they said we could come at 5 PM but would have to leave by 6:30 PM. Worked perfect for us. Our Lyft driver was Japanese and he confirmed that we picked a good restaurants and gave us history on how the father named two restaurants after his daughters. Beautiful inviting restaurant, super bright, and gorgeous views of the waterfront. We did the sake flight and ordered oysters (local West Coast) and pan seared Hokkaido scallops. Our server Jeong, who was amazing, let us know which sakes to drink beginning to end and they were all very tasty. I love scallops, but these weren't my favorite as they were large and not as sweet. Hokkaido scallops were tender and cooked perfectly. First time having aburi oshi and we both ordered Signature Selection. We also wanted to order 6 pieces of the salmon oshi, but Jeong recommended we try the Signature Selection first as there would be a piece of the salmon oshi. We tried it and we were in love and immediately ordered the 6 pieces. Friend said it was her most favorite bite from her 9 day PNW trip. The grains of rice are perfectly cooked and packed with flavor with my favorite salmon, creamy sauce, and not too spicy jalapeno on top. The other sushi were good, but this was by far our favorite. Savored every bite. Jeong recommended the green tea opera and all the flavors worked so well together, it was delightful and not too sweet. Great end to our Vancouver trip, highly recommend!

Yelp
This beautiful restaurant overlooking the cruise ship dock at Canada Place serves terrific high-end sushi. We had the Deluxe Shokai lunch. It included miso soup, three starters (scallop, salmon, and tuna sashimi; seared scallop in cream sauce; seared wagyu with Bernaise), ten pieces of sushi (rolls, nigiri, and Aburi Oshi sushi), and dessert. It was a lot of food for $75. Our favorites were the scallop sashimi and seared scallop, but everything was delicious. Service was very friendly, and the view can't be beat. Outdoor seating is also available, but some of the subtleties of the food might be lost out there. Full bar and extensive wine list. Maybe ask to not sit near the bar if you don't like the sound of cocktail shakers!

Yelp
One of the best sushi restaurants you'll ever go. Great views, nice area of downtown. Perfect date night spot. Get the blue fin trio and the aburrí hatate.

Yelp
Luckily we were able to walk in and get a seat at the bar without having a reservation. The bar was the perfect spot to view the incredible painting by Hideki Kimura - beautiful salmon swimming along the walls. Service was impeccable with great suggestions from our server, and the food was incredible. Definitely worth the hype. The wagyu carpaccio was delicious, as was the sashimi plate and the oshi, with our fave being the seared maguro nigiri recommended by our server - we ordered more of that it was so good. It was our anniversary and the restaurant made it very special with some comped rose (excellent - all the cocktails were excellent actually) and happy anniversary written out in our dessert plate. The green tea opera cake was exceptional - unlike any opera cake I have ever had with a blending of matcha and chocolate. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Vancouver.
google avatar

Yelp
The service was great but everything else about this place was just okay. We came here for lunch and ordered some seasonal cocktails. The "Toki-Cha" with hojicha infused whiskey was super good. The old fashioned was served with chocolate but all I could taste was the cherry wood bitters. Wagyu carpaccio was decent but portion size was super small. The nigiri was decent but sushi rice just wasn't on point (it was too hard). Fish was decently fresh although my husband had a bad piece of maguro. Our server was awesome! She gave us a bunch of local foodie recommendations when we told here we're just here on vacation to eat! Restaurant was clean and has a nice view of the port.

Yelp
Internally crying while writing this review because I wish I could have it again. We opted to do a la carte because we really wanted the soft shell crab, premium trio, and toro. The toro was honestly not worth it; have had better otoro and chutoro from the supermarket. But the soft shell crab, premium sushi trio, nigiri set were absolutely chefs kiss. And the real wasabi...I could eat it as a separate dish on its own. Thank you for the best anniversary!

Yelp
Some of the best sushi I have had. Ever. This casual, bright, energetic restaurant on the water is unique in that it cooks in Aburi style meaning many of the rolls are square shaped and seared on top. I ordered the chef's flight of sushi which included 7 pieces as well as 3 additional pieces and it was a substantial meal and it was delicious - every bite ( we threw in the brussel sprout " chips " as a starter which were quite good too). Beautiful restaurant overlooking the water. Service was fantastic. Not cheap by Canadian standards but since the dollar is strong right now, the meal was comprable in price to any nicer sushi restaurant back home. Wonderful flavors- no soy sauce needed ( they have soy but ask you try food first with out it ) No wasabi needed ( this I kind of missed as an option but I get why it's not offered as they don't want to mask their delicious flavors). This place has a Michelin star - well deserved

Yelp
Saw that this place earned a Michelin star recently. Excited to give it a try. Nice view and ambience inside. Right by the oceanfront and very bright during lunch time. Parking is not as ideal since it's around the busy downtown area. Overall food is fresh and price very reasonable. Service also top notch. Ordered sushi platter along with a katsu dish. The square cut nigiri is a first for me. Easy to eat and tasty. Though my only complaint is that the rice felt a bit too much. Overpowering the sashimi a bit. Definitely recommend this place to any sushi lovers around town. For now it seems easy to get seating. Check this place out before it becomes too well known.

Yelp
Went for my birthday lunch after reading all the reviews, but were very very disappointed. The food is mediocre at best. The fish was not looking good at all and not of the best quality. Service was good but nothing outstanding. We ordered set lunches to try everything and were told that one of the sets comes with dessert and that it would be especially nice since we are celebrating a birthday. In the end we didn't even get the dessert, not sure what happened there, but we didn't even want to ask because we wanted to get out of these as soon as possible. Really don't understand the hype about this place. Either we are spoiled by amazing sushi we have in California or this is simply the best quality Vancouver can offer. If you know good sushi don't come here because you will be disappointed.

Yelp
2023 MICHELIN STAR SUSHI RESTAURANT. Make a reservation before coming in! The service was great and the restaurant is clean. Plating is beautiful and you get a nice view of the Vancouver harbour. I ordered the oshi sampler ($21) which came with two pieces each of salmon, ebi and saba oshi. It was delicious and melted in my mouth. I also ordered two pieces of unagi nigiri ($6.50 each) which was also delicious. For what it is, it's affordable. I highly recommend coming here for sushi!

Yelp
Absolutely the best sushi I've had across like 80 restaurants in the last 10 years. Their aburi sushi were incredible - you have to order at least one set. Other rolls were also excellent - very fresh, proper size / temperature, and tasted great. No soy sauce needed. If I lived here, I'd go to Miku weekly. As a bonus, you get nice waterfront views (in top of beautiful modern interior). Last but not least, our server was very friendly and funny. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The food here is very solid and it has a great location looking out towards Coal Harbour. The aburi is a must try and the fish is fresh. The only caveat is that the service is a bit slow but they also seemed very busy so that's understandable.

Yelp
OK, so I'm making good on my promise to update my review of this wonderful restaurant after experiencing their "Miku Kaiseki" testing menu last night. In short - all of their courses and our service were excellent. Ambiance is great - the view is lovely! I don't want to ruin the surprise by relisting all of the courses, but you definitely get an excellent value with many super high-quality ingredients and innovative preparations/presentations. Personally, I would recommend not even looking at the list and just going for it. It's one of the better values I have seen in the tasting arena, and I bet that each iteration of this offering is always delicious. I hope you will enjoy this beautiful tasting menu when you visit Miku. Itadakimasu!

Yelp
I've had plenty of nigiri, sashimi, and rolls in my lifetime. So when a friend recommended Miku and their aburi oshi sushi, I was intrigued. "Aburi" means flame-seared and "oshi" means pressed, so aburi oshi sushi is flame-seared pressed fish on a rectangle of rice. Miku offers three types of aburi oshi sushi: salmon, ebi, and saba. They can be ordered as 3 or 6 piece, or as a sampler with 2 piece each type. All of them were very delicious, but my personal favorite was the salmon. Searing fish just brings out this amazing deep smokey flavor. My only gripe with aburi oshi sushi is the fish to rice ratio is too low (not enough fish, too much rice). I recommend the Miku Signature Selection, which is chef's selection of traditional and aburi oshi, specialty rolls, and nigiri (10 pieces total). It's priced at CA$43 and allows you to try a variety of Miku's menu. The restaurant is very spacious and staff very friendly. If you have the option to dine at lunch or before sunset, table seating by the window is your best bet for gorgeous waterfront views! I highly recommend Miku and would return if I visit Vancouver again.

Yelp
I cannot stress enough how brain chemistry changing the oshi sampler here was. I'm not from Vancouver but I would come back just for this. The Miku sauce that was on the salmon oshi and a few other pieces was phenomenal, I don't think I've ever had anything like it before. The Ebi and Saba oshi were also really good, but salmon was by far the best. The sushi and nigiris were also good, but Vancouver has a lot of good sushi so they weren't as mind blowing. Definitely do try the oshi if you come here!

Yelp
I go to Miku for dinner every time I come to Vancouver. If you don't make a reservation or alone, you will be forced to sit at the counter. I don't like counters because when you sit with your back to the waterfront view, there is nothing in front of. I recommend that you make a reservation and choose a seat near the window when you come here. I ordered Miku Signature Selection and Seasonal Gomaae. Dessert for Ice cream (Maple Soy, Toasted Honey Fig, Salted Caramel Bourbon). The sushi ingredients were fresh and the sushi selection was good. I especially like the fact that the sushi has condiments on top and is not eaten with soy sauce and wasabi. If you come without a reservation on a Friday or Sat, you may have to wait a long time, so in that case, you may want to consider ordering take-out. I look forward to coming again next time.

Yelp
I am so spoiled now after having this amazing experience and food. I can't go to another sushi place without comparing it to this one. I ate so much to the point I ma so scared to go on the scale this morning. Sushi was amazing, the steak was out of this world, the service topped any other place I have been to. So over all amazing time with very happy full tummy. I will go back on Sunday one more time before we head home. The fact that so many dishes are gluten free made me even more happy and how careful they are with the gluten. Like every dish comes out they tell us what I should avoid and what not. I advise everyone to go and try it out

Yelp
Miku was a great addition to our trip. I had some confusion regarding getting around so I called the restaurant and Christine(?) was super sweet to help. My golly... food, drinks, and service was spot on. Shoutout to our server as well as she's made our 3 year anniversary very special. Me and my now wife had a wonderful time together. Would highly recommend if you love sushi and want a lil something special. Beautiful place and area!

Yelp
Called in Saturday night to be put on the reservations last minute and they were able to accommodate it. The ambiance was great, aesthetic designs and decor. Food was what you would expect for a fine dining sushi restaurant. Our server was nice and explained the main entrees as it was our first time and made some good suggestions. I would come back here if I am in Vancouver.

Yelp
Salmon oshi was amazing! Scallops were fresh and so delicious angreen tea dessert was perfection. The reservations were almost all booked same day so I made one for late. But then walking by I noticed they take walkins on Yelp. Since I was dining alone it was easy to get a seat at the sushi bar. I had a front row seat to the torch prep and sushi chefs at work. Also noticed they do take out though not advertised, you have to call the host to place the order for pickup and it's a limited menu. The oshi is included on it and the waitstaff told me I could do a one and half order too. I loved what I had so much I may just do that as I'm staying near by. Must try if you are in the area. And bonus it's a sustainable seafood menu.

Yelp
Maybe because I have been spoiled by all of the Japanese dining options in California and a recent trip to Japan, but I thought that lunch at Miku was just okay. My partner, little one and I split the Signature Shokai, Traditional Sushi Lunch, Chicken Katsu, and Saba Oshi Sushi. I think my favorite part of the meal was this croquette and potato salad that came with the Signature Shokai; the croquette was crunchy on the outside while creamy on the inside. The potato salad was really well seasoned. The cuts of fish selected for the nigiri were underwhelming. The rice could use more seasoning. The waiter raved about the Oshi Sushi - these rectangular pieces that were seared at the top; but the ratio of fish to rice made these pieces not too enjoyable. I might give this place another try for dinner if I ever visit Vancouver again, but would probably try their appetizers and entrees; but avoid the nig

Yelp
First time visiting Vancouver and we only had one goal. It was to try Miku. For appetizers, we ordered their sable fish and seasonal Goma- ae and immediately fell in love. The fish literally melted in my mouth. It was flavorful and yet I could still taste the freshness of the fish. We also got their signature shokai and this did not disappoint. It came with nigiri and aburi sushi and everything on my plate was delish! Friendly service and with great view. We will Dey be back again.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this gem on Yelp while visiting Vancouver, and it turned out to be one of my favorite dining experiences! Despite it being a Saturday night, our party of four was fortunate to be seated without any wait. The ambiance and decor were stunning, and they have waterfront tables that I assume is available if you come early enough or make a reservation. We started with the Brussels sprouts and ebi fritters, both of which were absolutely delicious. We also shared a surf and turf roll that was a big hit at our table. I ordered a hamachi nigiri that melted in my mouth. For my entree, I opted for the Oshi sampler, which was a great way to sample the different aburi sushi they offer (salmon, ebi, and saba). Every dish we tried was exceptional, and I would definitely return in the future.

Yelp
We had a great time at Miku. We made our reservation a week before, and it was packed. We got seated at the back with a pier view, which was amazing.  We ordered calamari, Miku signature selection, surf & turf roll, Saba oshi sushi, aburi octopus, Hokkaido scallops, ebi fritters, and brussel sprouts. Lobster ceviche and aburi octopus were my favorites. We come from New York, so our expectations could be different, but overall, the food and service were good, but could be better! Would recommend Miku for special dates or if you love to have great views while dining.

Yelp
Continues to be a family favorite and another staple on repeat as our love affair with Aburi (torched sushi) as this is the OG. Took a friend back in May as she was visiting for the long weekend as belated celebrations for our milestone bdays. We ordered the Dassai 45 sake and Pirikara margarita to start our Sat evening after a day of hiking in North Van. We ordered the seasonal gomae which was delicious and just what our palettes needed. Then we ordered the red wave roll, and the miku roll, sushi rolls that are usually on repeat. Then we had salmon and ebi oishi which were spectacular. If you want to try oishi/aburi, highly recommend coming here as this is where it all began in Vancouver and many others have replicated and followed after. If you're lucky, get a table with a view of the Harbor, can't be beat.
