While visiting Columbia University, I stopped by Milano Market Westside for a quick bite—and I’m so glad I did. Tucked away right next to campus, this place is a classic New York-style deli with an impressive selection of fresh, made-to-order sandwiches and hot dishes. I ordered the tomato soup and a chicken parm sandwich, and both were excellent. The soup was rich, flavorful, and comforting—perfect for a chilly afternoon. The chicken parm sandwich was crispy, cheesy, and just the right amount of indulgent. You can really tell they care about quality and ingredients. The vibe inside was lively but friendly, with lots of students and locals dropping in. It’s one of those spots that feels fast-paced but still warm and personal. If you’re in the area—whether you’re visiting Columbia, exploring Morningside Heights, or just craving a great sandwich—Milano Market is definitely worth a stop. It’s the kind of place you wish you had in your own neighborhood.

Best sandwich in Morningside Heights. The bread is simply phenomenal. Get a hero and eat it on the steps of Low Library. I tried the Triple S Chicken Parm on the recommendation of one of the guys behind the counter, and it was excellent. However, my girlfriend got some kind of pesto chicken sandwich on a separate visit, and that one was easily my favorite. I need to go back and find out what sandwich that was.

Annoying that the sandwich prices in the store are different than what is on their online pickup order. Sandwich online is $14.50 and in store is $16. Also a $16 sandwich shouldn’t have old pieces of arugula in it. Otherwise staff is attentive and fast and Sandwich is pretty good.

I was truly curious to try it, and stepping inside felt like walking into one of those classic Italian delis that were all the rage in the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s. It instantly reminded me of the kind of places any Italian, myself included, grew up with. The more I look around the more this place feels like a paradise! My actual exclamation as I started to realize where I was is “I’m in Heaven right now!”. Now, let’s talk sandwiches, because Milano Market is the place you wanna go for. I had 3, and each was a masterpiece. THE EGGPLANT with vodka sauce was pure comfort, packed with layers of Black Forest ham, ricotta, kalamata olives, pesto, and basil, all melting in perfect harmony! Then came THE BRUTUS, a bold, flavor-packed beast with sopressata, mortadella, prosciutto, mozzarella, ricotta, Parmigiano, arugula, and a touch of balsamic glaze. Delisciousness on a sandwich! A must-try for those with a serious appetite. And finally, the PROSCIUTTO CAMPANA, a heavenly combo of prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella, arugula, sun-dried peppers, and balsamic glaze. Simply out of this world! They use top-quality ingredients, many of them imported straight from Italy. The staff is excellent and incredibly fast, making the experience even better. And then there’s Camillo, a friendly, charismatic host who adds even more charm to the atmosphere. Beyond the food, the ambiance and location Camillo, along with his guys, are making the experience even better, a truly remarkable one. He’s friendly, easygoing, and always up for a great chat! Everything about Milano Market feels like a direct trip to Italy, from the products on the shelves (some woke up so many memories from my childhood!) to the flavors in every bite. Simply outstanding on all fronts. Walking into Milano Market Westside is like stepping into a classic Italian deli, warm, nostalgic, and full of incredible aromas. The first bite of my sandwich instantly transported me back to my childhood, reminding me of the afternoon sandwiches my grandma used to make when I lived with her. This place isn’t just about food, it’s about memories. Genuine, authentic, fresh, welcoming and friendly! Milano Market isn’t just a deli, it’s a trip to Italy, one unforgettable sandwich at a time. I can’t wait to work my way through their massive, mouthwatering menu!

I can’t stress enough how good the sandwiches are here 😋 they are delicious! I always get the Chicken Parm Hero. The chicken tastes fresh not processed & I can eat it so easily whether I’m in the mood for a big meal or not. Only drawback is I wish they had seating & more of a drink selection but the sandwich more than makes it worth it so 5-stars easily & will be returning every chance I get

Found this place on Ig years ago. Dreamed about visiting so I did for my birthday trip to NY. Best sandwich ever!! A lil expensive but it was worth it. I got ‘the Deuce’ n it was massive!! Tasted even better the next day. Busy spot so expect a small wait. Can’t wait to go back 🔥🔥🔥

My friends were right. Their sandwiches are life-changing! I got the fig and burrata OH MY! Then I bought one the night before my flight out so I could eat it during travel. Hehe. I’ll be back again on my next visit. Wanting to try an eggplant one next.

My sister has been wanting to try this place for a couple years now. I think it's one of the reasons she wanted to come back to NYC! This high end grocery store does not have a place to eat in so plan ahead to eat on the go or a different destination. Everything looked delicious. We split a chicken Caesar wrap. The thing was massive, quite heavy when holding the wrap. Hats off to you if you can eat a whole one in one sitting. I recommend splitting it. The guys at the counter were very nice and quick! They also have a beautiful display of desserts and the most Lindt chocolates to choose from that I've ever seen. Would for sure come back in my next trip here.

Absolutely love this spot. Definitely known for the caesar wrap which is #1 in my opinion, but tuna melt was pretty good too

Milano, Our UWS/Columbia staple! They draw long lines during the school semesters at lunchtime, but we stop by at night for their Caesar salad wrap --so good! Service is pretty quick overall and the counter guys are great! Classic old-school Italian deli vibes.

We shared a cold sliced Angus steak sandwich with roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella, pesto on a soft long roll. Store made potato salad and cole slaw. All delicious. Made quickly by friendly counterman. The place was clean unbelievably well stocked. There were about 20 other sandwiches we will come back to try. Everything looks great. They have so many cakes and pastries. Package goods, beers, sodas. We can't wait.

Amazing sandwich-- I got the E10. Prosciutto Burrata Fig Jam sandwich, and it was one of the best sandwiches I've eaten. The sweet fig jam balances out the creaminess of the burrata and the saltiness of the prosciutto. The portion sizes are also humongous. The only con is that because this is a market, there is no seating. Service is pretty fast, but it does get busy during lunch hours.

Quick line for ordering. Place was great, they also had soups on the side and many baked goods it was delicious. I remembered the pic after I was almost done with my half. Definitely a sandwich you are able to share or save a half because the portion was awesome. The semolina hero was very fresh. Also got a sourdough and semolina to go. Place was nice, clean and very organized to help you find any chips or bevs while waiting on your sandwich.

The sandwiches here are fantastic and good value. Pretty big and easy to split into two meals. Really liked the hot foods section as well.

Milano Market is hands down the best place to get a sandwich. The infamous chicken Caesar wrap is, of course, amazing and super filling, but their other sandwiches are amazing as well. Some of them will run you a pretty penny though. I've tried the meatballs and the triple S chicken parm and was extremely impressed.

very much grocery and butcher feel here. they take your order and get straight to making it. you can walk around the store for anything else you need. then you grab your food and go pay for it. my sandwich was a bit soggy by the time i got to eat it but it packed a lot of flavor. the carved turkey was delicious, if not the best carved turkey i've ever had. i'm not the biggest fan of deli meat but i would say that this was delicious. wish they put a bit more balsamic vinegar as i requested. sandwich had so so much meat inside and is a great meal to fill you up!

Came for their famous chicken Cesar salad wrap and it DID NOT disappoint, can't wait to go again! They do get busy, we did wait in line but it moved pretty quickly. It is a small place so don't expect seating as it's also a small store.

MY sandwich was incredible but why was it $20. i got the proscuito and burrata. it was perfect bacciallu. except for the price and the wait time. paying with CC is an extra fee (cash discount) and on the wrapper it says $18 but the receipt came out to over 20

Make sure to order online for pick up ahead of time instead of waiting in line! They also have an App you can use. I love Milano market and any sandwich with their focaccia is amazing. This location is definitely better than the one on the east side in my opinion. The portions are on the bigger side which I appreciate a lot! I love the staff there as well.

I went here three nights in a row after 8 hour classroom days in summer school at Columbia. The picture below does not do it justice. I was full after eating half the sandwich and I love to eat. I also loved E4 (Eggplant Special) and E7 (Brutus); both sandwiches made fresh, and were delicious and filling.

Sloppy as heck sandwich. I added a lvicadi for a dollar and it was not on my sandwich. I asked for multigrain bread, also not honored. Turkey was weak and low quality! Not smoked or good at all. Not like the Italian delis I'm use too.

I've heard about this on TikTok and the Chicken Caesar Wrap was very tasty! I like it, but nothing earth-shattering. I like the crunch inside. The Caesar dressing is very tasty. It all tasted very fresh. Filled me up for $12. I enjoy the inside of the deli. Lots of options so I'd come back and try more stuff! Nice employees.

Heard about this place from a friend for having good sandwiches and vegetarian options. I tried the eggplant Parmesan sandwich and it was really good! I also tried the tres leches but I don't recommend this as it was kind of dry. Overall, really great place to have sandwiches but it is pricey.

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE BLACK. Mama always said, "If you do not see black people coming or going, that is a clear sign that it is not for us." I've never been so obviously ignored in my entire life. I waited all day to get a chicken parm sandwich from this place, practically starved myself. I've walked past before and thought it'd be nice to try one day, NOPE. I walked in and there were a handful of customers waiting for their orders and an equal amount of deli workers behind the counter making sandwiches, so I waited patiently watching the workers until someone acknowledged my existence. Once a couple people received their orders the line cleared up a bit and I was standing in a large gap with an older white woman still looking at the display all the way at the end. The next available worker made a beeline past me and straight to her, never looking in my direction. I figured he knew she was there first so I watched the both of them as he asked her if she wanted to order something and she didn't respond. When he realized she wasn't ordering, he turned to walk away. As he came past me, I raised my hand and went to say, "I'd like to order something" he completely ignored me and kept walking to the other end of the deli. Of course I walked out never vowing to come back. I planned on spending close to $30 for two sandwiches but my money was not good here. I went to the new pizza spot next door and immediately felt like family upon walking in, spent $9 instead. Maybe this place could stand to get some customer service training from Upside Pizza.

Outstanding!! This place makes outrageously delicious sandwiches. I've tried several of them and each one has its own flavor profile. Very good! I would definitely go here if you want a great tasting giant sandwich. You can't go wrong!

A train wreck of a visit. Lackluster attention to details, how can this food be so hyped?? I wanted a chicken cutlet with fresh mozzarella and vodka sauce. He placed his back in the microwave twice the chicken was like rubber. The attention to service and cleanliness is questionable I would not return.

This place seems popular and was busy when I was there. I ordered the E1 Triple "S" Chicken Parm with vodka sauce, marinara sauce, and pesto. The sandwich was huge and was plenty for me to have two meals. Flavor wise it was okay, but I was expecting more from it. They don't have any seating here, so you'll have to take it to-go.

The sandwiches were delicious! Very filling, definitely get your money's worth. There is also a good selection of drinks and snacks. It was very busy when we went (about 1 pm on a Sunday) but line moved quickly.

Milano Market has gained quite a bit of fame recently for its Chicken Caesar wrap, and for good reason...it is truly delicious! Personally, I prefer to swap out the Caesar dressing for spicy chipotle, which adds an extra spicy kick and takes the wrap to the next level. It's definitely an in-and-out spot, but be prepared to spend $20+ on deli goods or Italian specialties. With over 50 sandwich options, Milano has something for everyone--whether you're into vegetarian options, pork, chicken, or even lamb sandwiches. I've tried a few of their sandwiches, and they're so generously stuffed that they easily last me two meals if you pick the right one. If you're unsure, ask the deli man for his recommendation of the day--they'll point you in the right direction!

Milano seems like an UWS/ Columbia student staple! I tried the burrata sandwich which was absolutely incredible. Despite not having any meat, the sandwich was extremely filling and you need to split it into two meals. The burrata (E11) was very flavorful, with a perfect balance of sweet (due to the fig jam) and savory! The bread was the absolute winner- you can smell how good it is when you unwrap these sandwiches! I will definitely be back to try some of the other options

I waited about 30 mins for my sandwich and they kept serving everyone but me. Even noticing that I was waiting for a while however, kept looking at me and serving others. The worst experience will never be back. The only reason why I wanted to give this place a try was because I seen it many times on the internet however I will let my fellow friends know not to try this place either. They definitely racial discriminate against people who aren't white or Asian which you should definitely be careful because you never know who you are interacting with. I most likely make twice your pay check. Assuming I wouldn't be able to afford a $15 sandwich like come on. It isn't gold. Don't support a place that is still racist in this day and age. They racial discriminated an actor what makes you think they still don't do this? I was able to go elsewhere and get great service and spend more than what I was going to spend

I don't know a lot of sandwiches that are truly worth $15+... but this one is! Talk about FRESH- fresh vegetables, fresh bread, freshly made sandwich. Any sandwich from Milano + a bag of chips + a drink= a perfect summer day. The staff is also so quick and so kind! Absolutely recommend.

Very nice authentic Italian market with a large prepared food counter, bakery counter and case, meats, cheeses, antipasti, and Italian grocery and specialty items. There was a long line to order. There was plenty of staff to accommodate the customers, and they took the order and made the sandwich in about 10 minutes. I got the triple threat sub ($14) with chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, ricotta, vodka sauce, marinara, and pesto on a standard sub roll. The sub is massive, a notch smaller than in Hoboken, and half a sub plus fruit is a sufficient meal. The place was my favorite part since I thought the chicken was dry and bland. The sauces gave the sandwich the moisture it needed. I'd return for the shop itself but not that sub. Also, they charge a 3% credit card fee.

I will get Milano's at least once a week. Always alternating between my salad and the E10, which has my whole heart. E10: ~$20 dollars but worth two meals. Prosciutto. Burrata. Fig jam. Arugula. Parmesan. A heavenly combo. Salad: kale & arugula base, spicy chicken, black olives, cranberries, mozzarella balls, cherry tomatoes, edamame, parmesan, sometimes broccoli and brussel sprouts, and always get the asian sesame dressing. Trust. Super fast service, even if the sandwich line looks super long, it'll go by quickly. There's pretty much always no line for salads which is great. It's great that it's open until 11PM at night. Clean inside. And there's so many options to choose from.

When I came to the Columbia area, I got to check out the deli that I guess college kids would go to! The triple threat took a bit of time for them to make, but it was a pretty tasty sandwich! Stuffed with vodka sauce and pesto, this was an eggplant parm-esque sandwich that I thought to be quite filling + tasty, with the downside being how oily and messy it was to eat. It was $14 which was on the pricier end of a deli sandwich, but understand that they are catering to their geography. Wouldn't necessarily come back, but a pretty tasty sandwich!

As always their Cuban sammich didn't disappoint enough for two people, only caveat was the ground mustard used as a relish, but thats on me since I forgot to ask for regular mustard or aioli, until next time

I come to Milano market every weekend to buy bread since it's very good and high quality. The store is clean and has a variety of Italian products which is convenient for those days when you want to eat high quality Italian food at home but not eat out. Most recently, my boyfriend and I stopped by because I wanted to try some of their sandwiches which I've heard very good things about. You can order them on the left side counter once you enter the store around the area where they have all their pre-made dishes. There was a long line but it moved fast. We were helped by a very nice man behind the counter and ordered an Amore as well as a Classico. I recommend you take a look at the menu in advance since they have so many options to pick from so it might take a while and you don't wanna slow down the line (this is New York City, after all). We got our food within 15 minutes and then paid at the cashier in front. This is more of a take out place so we decided to walk to Central Park and eat our sandwiches there. In terms of the food, we tried: - Classico sandwich: very substantial in size. Came with whole pieces of grilled chicken, avocado, pesto, mozzarella, and sun dried tomatoes. From my first bite, I felt that the chicken was a little too dry and, as much as I like when business do not skimp on protein, the cut of the meat felt too thick for this sandwich and the flavor dampened the other elements present. The flavors of the sandwich could have definitely been more well balanced either by adding more pesto/sun dried tomatoes or cutting the chicken more thinly. The ingredients were were super high quality though and the sandwich itself felt super healthy-- Something I would probably order on a more day to day basis because it doesn't feel as decadent but next time I might request that they add a bit more pesto. Would give this a 3/5 alone. - Amore sandwich: this was actually amazing! More on the decadent side. Had creamy burrata, a load of delicious prosciutto that just melted in your mouth, crisp arugula, and this delightful balsamic glaze. The saltiness of the prosciutto went perfectly with the mildly sweet and tangy balsamic glaze. The textures were also amazing since the filling felt very creamy and smooth and was contrasted by the harder/more doughy ciabatta. It is also pretty decently sized and had generous amounts of both burrata and prosciutto. My boyfriend also liked this one better although he agreed it felt a little less healthy. This alone would get a 5/5 in my eyes. Overall, I really enjoyed my food! The sandwiches are definitely superior to your ordinary deli sandwich. The ingredients feel fresh and very high quality. I liked how the location is so close to Central Park so you can also take your food over and do a little picnic there. While in the store, you can also take advantage of all the products and buy a few Italian/European gems to supplement your weekly grocery haul-- I bought some Hanuta! I will be definitely coming back in the future to try more of their food, especially their chicken parm which looked amazing and their popular chicken caesar wrap. Would recommend.

Great sandwiches so I'm definitely coming back but the cashier ladies always seem to be angry at the world lol.

NOTE: While Milano offers a selection of groceries, this review focuses solely on the deli + salad bar. Milano's deli offers quite possibly the biggest menu of sandwiches I have ever seen -- no joke, there are close to 100 different options featuring different meats, vegetables, breads, and condiments. I liked the "Carved Turkey" sandwich more than the chicken avocado wrap, but both were made with the freshest ingredients and were very filling. The salad bar was amazing! Order a pre-built option, or build your own salad with different greens as bases, and different meats, seeds, fruits, vegetables, cheeses, and dressings. I've had two salads from Milano now and loved them both. I'll certainly return given how friendly the staff is and that it seems very fairly priced for the amount of food you get.

I order delivery from them usually are very good the last time it was disappointing. I always get the same thing. Sandwich are big you might think are overpriced but for the portions you get are fine . I definitely order from them again and I hope the last time it was just a bad day for them

Came here and got the chicken Caesar wrap. It was stuffed to capacity for sure like a proper burrito and you could tell the dressing was super fresh and homemade. Would like to comeback and try one of the Italian Hero's. You definitely need to be mi sculpture of the lunch rush.

Friends and I decided to make a stop here since it's been all over IG especially with their delicious looking videos and photos of their sandwiches! We ended up trying 3 different sandwiches (Triple S Parm, Blazing Eggplant, and Prosciutto Special) Triple S Parm - (2.5 out of 5) Combination of vodka sauce, pesto, marinara sauce, mozzarella, parmiagiano and basil. Overall sandwich was alright. Was hard to really get the taste of the combinations. Really just tasted like a regular chicken parm with pesto. Blazin Eggplant - (3 out of 5) Essentially an eggplant sandwich with siracha. Couldn't really taste the vodka sauce in it Prosciutto Special (5 out of 5) Prosciutto di Parma, Burrata, Fig Jam, Parmiagiano, olive oil, basalmic glaze and basil. Flavor profile was on point! You could taste the different levels in the sandwhich and would be my go to one the next time I'm there. Overall, great sandwiches and looking forward to trying other ones in UWS

A quintessential NYC deli with long lines and fat sandwiches! It's not the cheapest, but the portions are huge so you can definitely get 2 meals out of it. The line moves fast and the deli staff were very nice. A great place to stop by and pick up a quick lunch! I ordered the Triple S which is a sandwich with crispy chicken cutlets, mozzarella, marinara, pesto, and vodka sauce. For the list of ingredients, I expected the sandwich to be a bit better than it was. The chicken cutlet was a little too thick and there could have been more sauce added. The best thing I ordered was the Chicken Caesar Wrap (must get this)! I truly think it was one of the best caesar wraps I've had in the city. The lettuce was fresh and well coated with their house-made caesar dressing. There was a good amount of chicken and the croutons were spiced with something that elevated the whole wrap. I will be coming back solely for this wrap.

This was the driest, flavorless chicken I've ever had. The breading was very soggy which begs the question, what is the dreading for? The hype is a lie. The market itself is pretty over priced but I do enjoy the homemade pesto sauce.

I ordered the E1. Triple "S" Chicken Parm sandwich from the deli and really enjoyed it. The service was pretty quick for how busy they were and the sandwich is definitely worth the price. I couldn't even eat half of it because it was so large. I do wish that there was more sauce on the sandwich because the chicken was so thick it overtook the other flavors a bit, but it's still the best chicken park sandwich I've had. The market itself was also really nice. It was definitely on the pricey side, but they had a good selection of foods, sauces, and drinks that I would recommend it. It wasn't loud and it was very clean. I would definitely recommend stopping by for a sandwich if you're nearby and want to enjoy a picnic.

Wildly inconsistent. Same sandwich can be a 10/10 one day and a 4 the next. The H5 is a 10 when everything's properly mixed together, but half the guys don't even know you're supposed to mix it. It's a gamble every time, and a poor H5 is a travesty, because when they do it right, it's one of the best sandwiches in NYC.

Hands down the BEST sandwiches I've ever had !!! The possibilities are endless here and no matter what you order you're guaranteed to be happy!! Every sandwich is jam packed layer after layer so you know you're getting a great deal !! I'm truly addicted to this place

My husband got extremely sick with food poisoning after eating the Brutus sandwich from here. We know this was the cause because it was his only meal of the day. He contacted the establishment to warn them of the potential risk as he became scarily ill and their response was rude and dismissive. We reported them to the dept. of health. Eat here at your own risk as they clearly don't care about their customers.

Mid my W1 chicken cutlet wrap was flavorless ceaser wrap was better but still not worth the attitude of the cashier not worth coming back havent even touched the dessert

If I could give a zero based just on customer service I would. Today was my first time ordering from Milano. After checking since I was in the area I decided to order. For starters I ordered the Milano sandwich assuming it would be the best option since it carries their name. The only request I had was no tomatoes because I am allergic to them. For starters it was done on a focaccia, not semolina bread and it had tomatoes. I requested a refund which I feel is fair since I live in Queens and won't be in the area. Tony the manager stated it is something that they are not able to do. It's obvious customer service is not a priority.

I got the triple sandwich (eggplant parmesan). The sandwich was definitely very hefty, which warranted the 20 dollar price tag. I got it for delivery so obviously wasn't at its peak, but for delivery it's one of the best sandwiches I've had. It wasn't dry and the cheese and sauce complimented eachother perfectly. The eggplant wasn't too oily either. Would definitely come again.

The bread is just the right mix of crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The menu is expansive, so there's something for everyone. The portions are plentiful.
