Milk Mustache Is Opening a Bakeshop Selling Chunky Cookies in Houston’s Tanglewood | Eater Houston

"A Houston cookie maker that has operated out of a Cypress factory for years and shipped its hefty 6-ounce cookies nationwide is opening its first Tanglewood storefront. The founder, Tracy Jones, will debut a menu of a dozen flavors — highlights include a s’mores-style Campfire Bliss, cookies and cream, Nutella Dream, sea salt caramel, snickerdoodle, and a chocolate chip offered in both full and miniature sizes — plus four rotating featured flavors. The shop also includes an edible cookie dough bar with six safe-to-eat dough flavors available by the pint or scoop with various toppings." - Brittany Britto Garley

WOW!! Actually AMAZING! This cookie is crunchy on the outside and SO soft on the inside, it’s not too sweet, it’s literally perfect!! This is the best cookie I’ve had. The young lady who attended us was very polite and professional, she was helpful and knowledgeable and explained the entire menu to us. The store is very cute and a nice place to meet, and enjoy a sweet treat. Highly recommend visiting. I will be back with my family to try more!

Google
I tried Milk Mustache’s red velvet cookies and they were honestly amazing. Super soft and chewy with that perfect red velvet flavor, not too sweet, not too heavy. You can really taste the cocoa, and the texture is on point from the first bite to the last. They taste fresh, rich, and straight-up indulgent without being overwhelming. Easily one of my favorite cookies from Milk Mustache and definitely worth grabbing again.

Google
The cookies here are actually pretty great for the price, size, and taste. Plus, they’ve got a gluten-free option. The spot itself is super clean

I’ve been trying to find Levain bakery style cookies in Texas for a long time, and I finally found them here! Delicious, chewy, thick cookies with a generous amount of chocolate chips, they are perfect! They are absolutely delicious, it’s hard to find gooey cookies like these anywhere else. The inside of the bakery is super cute, it’s fun to take photos. Service was good. Every time my husband and I are in Houston we will stop by!

Google
The cookies are huge and delicious! We got the blueberry lemon cookie and cookies n cream cookie - both were phenomenal. Nice toasted and crunchy exterior, pretty dense full of yummy goodness, and a gooey cookie dough-like center. The cookies are very shareable not only because of their large size, but also because it's easy to tear off pieces and pass around. The interior is nicely decorated and they offer some nice little merchandise at the front. We also sampled some of the edible cookie dough that they offer - the birthday batter is really good! Excited to come back and try some more flavors as they have many. Unfortunately, the smores and red velvet cookies were sold out by the time we got there around 4pm on opening day. Just means we will have to go back another time.

Google
These are the best cookies I have ever tasted! My family and I travel A LOT and we taste as many cookie shops as we can. These are perfect! They are big and sturdy in the best way possible, with a slight crunch on the outside and perfectly soft inside. These cookies aren't overpoweringly sweet like most places, and the selections are great. The cookie pull is A1! I wish I had taken a pic of how beautiful the cookies look inside! To top it all off, the customer service is AMAZING!!!! The two ladies were patient, accommodating with my cinnamon allergy, kid friendly,(which is extremely hard to come by now-a-days), informative, quick, and sweet! They let you sample as many flavors of edible cookie dough as you want. The shop itself is so cute and instagram worthy if you're into that. We will definitely be back as often as we can!

Google

Google
The best cookies I ever had. Soft, moist and huge. My favorite is the banana cream cookie. Their cookie is never to sweet and always tasty.

Yelp
Okay I think this might actually be my new favorite cookie store in Houston. I absolutely love the size and texture of the cookie. It has the perfect texture of being hard enough on the outside, but soft on the inside. The best way to describe this cookie is like a hug in the form of a cookie. The only flavors I've tried from here so far are their seasonal cornbread one, the regular chocolate chip, and the s'mores. I love all of them and they taste so good. Inside and outside of the store are very cute. The staff have always been very friendly every time I've come in. There is plenty of parking too! Highly recommend this place to any cookie lovers.

Yelp
Eatable cookie dough set up like ice cream . Never seen that before . Cookies are very good . Something for everyone . One of the nicer shops I've been in for cookies

Yelp
Yummy cookies galore. I have always liked this sweet gem of a spot. When you walk into milk mustache, you smell all things butter and sweetness. The aroma wafts in the cute little shoppe. It is every so colorful, cute and whimsical in here. I love this cozy yet nonchalant cookie shoppe right on fountain view. Milk Mustache honestly has some of the best cookies in the city. That says a lot, cause' we've got quite a few cookie/dessert spots in the city. But I'm picky and I truly believe these are some of the best cookies I've had in Houston. They are warm, crispy and yet gooey as well. They have that classic texture and flavor that a cookie should measure up to.. and they are crag like. I love how this spot has a few new flavors throughout the year and they also have dessert beverages and soft serve as well. Service is always nice and prompt. The dessert's here are quite sweet but full of flavor, which keeps me revisiting every now and then. Try it for yourself, you'll be in for a treat. Nothing dry and nothing boring about these cute cookies. Until next time!

Yelp
Opened on July 4th and regular hours! Really enjoyed the croissant cookie, most unique and tasty out of all the ones in houston i've tried. They have such an assortment of flavors like chocolate chip, camp fire, banana pudding, lemon blueberry, honey latte and much more! Staff was super friendly and helpful! The indoors is also super cute and has some seating both indoor and outdoors. Parking - directly in front in the plaza
google avatar

Brandye C.

Yelp
Whoa! In a cute little shopping area on Fountainview. Outside and inside seating. The place is very welcoming and clean. The items on the shelves are even for sale as well. Different varieties to choose from. They also offer water, starbucks in a bottle and milk choices. Sign up for the point system on Square for extra freebies. I got a 4pack for 18. They all look delicious. My back wont allow me to eat so many of them. Im thankful they are far from me. Lol
google avatar

Brianna C.

Yelp
Ordered on DoorDash. I got the snickerdoodle, chocolate chip, and campfire. It was so good! They are crumbly and soft in the middle, the perfect texture! I would love for it to be $4/cookie, $6 is pretty pricey but they are delicious

alejandra z.

Yelp
Thank you to Andre! It was my first time going & he made my girlfriend & I feel so welcomed. We will be back!
google avatar

Tracy K.

Yelp
I have no idea what they're putting in these cookies but they are amazing! I haven't gone inside the store but I've ordered the cookies via Uber Eats twice and have not had any regrets! My husband's favorite chocolate chip place is Tiny's and when I introduced him to Milk Mustache he was hooked! Both times I ordered the mini assortment variety pack and we finished it within a few days between the both of us. The first time I also ordered the matcha coconut which is to die for! I was a little disappointed I didn't see it on the Uber Eats menu when I made my second order. I hope they bring that back!

Yelp
This cookie spot is officially one of my favorites in Houston! I stopped by on a weekday around lunchtime a few weeks ago for dessert with a friend. We had just loaded up on Cabo Bob's next door and were in the mood for a sweet treat. We were the only customers when we got there. There is a counter in the middle with a display of many colorful sweet treats. The storefront is on the smaller side, with a few tables for eating inside and outside the store. The employee serving us was kind enough to explain their offerings - Milk Mustache offers very, very large cookies with unique flavors. They also offer edible cookie dough in scoops or by the pint. We had the pleasure of sampling some of the dough and it was dee-lish. If we had been more hungry, we surely would've opted for that! Instead, we decided to split a cookie. These cookies are large, and are priced as such. We decided on the Nutella Dream, a tantalizing sprinkle-covered cookie with Nutella on the inside. We split our cookie outside (picture below) and were amazed by the gooey cookie dough surrounding the nutella! These cookies are soft-baked in the best way possible. We promptly dug in, and were full after just a few bites! If you are looking for a lighter dessert, I'd suggest splitting these cookies among at least 2 people. We were thoroughly full after our half cookies, and more than satisfied. I would love to stop by here when I have a bigger appetite and try some of the edible cookie dough, or another flavor of their delicious cookies!

Yelp
Stopped in again to try this weeks features and got the birthday sundae. It was a birthday cookie with chocolate ganache and was delightful.
google avatar

Melody C.

Yelp
A small business friendly touch is how you are greeted. I really love the colored schemed, it set the tone as a soft comfortable setting. These all-natural cookies are baked with success in each bite. Soft baked cookies that is large enough to share. They are so so Good!
google avatar

Dylan T.

Yelp
So much better than Crumbl. Their cookies are amazing and so many unique options to choose from! The service was good as the people were patient and the ambience of the place was nice. I will definitely be returning!
google avatar

NaPorshe R.

Yelp
I tried the sea salt caramel pecan, campfire bliss, and red velvet cream cheese. The only one I would order again is the sea salt caramel but even that one was overwhelming. You have to be cookie lover to fully enjoy these huge cookies .. with filling. I didn't expect the red velvet to have sooo much chocolate inside, I was expecting more of the cookie and cream cheese. I felt like the chocolate chips were overwhelming. The cookies were harder/crunchier on the outside than I expected. I don't think I'll try it again since I do prefer insomnia cookies, but it was a cool experience.
google avatar

Anissa A.

Yelp
I had way too high of expectations. The cookies were hard and too sugary for our liking
google avatar

Cynthia V.

Yelp
So glad that we have a Milk Mustache location in town now! They have 10 flavors, 6 regular and 4 seasonal. As soon as you walk in it is like you entered cookie heaven - smells amazing and your eyes bulge at the sight of these huge cookies! Some are stuffed with fillings like Nutella or marshmallow while others are all cookie dough. Whichever way you go, they are all delicious. I recommend getting a 4 pack (or more!) to sample a few! Great service, easy parking.
google avatar

Azam K.

Yelp
SO GOOD!! Up there with levain bakery same prices and each cookie was enjoyed by the family. They're soft inside but still have a great crisp on the outside. I loved the chocolate pecan especially. It isn't too sweet and the flavor was amazing. The chocolate chip was also really great! Absolutely try this place out if you're nearby!

Bismah I.

Yelp
I tried two cookies, the banana pudding cookie had no flavor and was lacking in the banana pudding filling. Chocolate chip cookie was very dense and lacked flavor! Blah
google avatar

Sophia S.

Yelp
I like the vibe and everyone who works there is super friendly! It's a cute spot and the cookies are amazing. They are the kind of doughy type cookies so heads up if you like the crunchy type ones. They also have some very unique flavors like the campfire s'mores one.
google avatar

Kristin J.

Yelp
I was searching all over for a cookie place that sold raw cookie dough to eat. I was so happy to find milk mustache. I ordered the raw edible chocolate chip cookie dough to eat and it was so yummy! They let you sample flavor first which is nice. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Bronx T.

Yelp
I've been here about 4 times and their cookies are never freshly made....never straight out of the oven.....never warm.....never truly fresh....Yes, the taste might be slightly better than CRUMBL but CRUMBL cookies actually taste like they were made within the last 30 minutes...Crumbl cookies are warm...I'd rather have fresh warm cookies than this.....Not bad but CRUMBL is fresher and warmer.
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
The quality seemed a little off, the cookies were overly sweet. The taste was not the best, my type of cookie is not super sweet so for me I maybe am biased. Staff was amazing with helpful suggestions and provided great service!

Riley D.

Yelp
Best chocolate chip cookie in the city by FAR! The outside has crispy crunchy edges but the middle is oh so soft and there's a perfect balance of sweet and bitter chocolate as well as the all important salt. 25/10
google avatar

Shermika H.

Yelp
Huge chunky cookies with stuffed insides!!! These cookies are the size of a biscuit. Not really soft or warm but eye catching. Roughly about $5 a cookie but the more you buy the more you save. I enjoyed the campfire cookie but it took me all day to eat it. Staff was very inviting and friendly.
google avatar

Johnson N.

Yelp
I'm not a fan of thick cookies (not a fan of Levain bakery in NYC) but these were actually pretty good! We got the Campfire Bliss and Snickerdoodle cookies. To our delight the cookies weren't just big for the sake of it, but because they are stuffed! Campfire Bliss is essentially a s'mores cookie. Snickerdoodle is stuffed with a snickerdoodle cream filling. Both were delicious and were a much needed treat after burning calories at the gym. LOL.
google avatar

Edward M.

Yelp
They taste better than others I have tried, they were room temp it would be nice if they were warmer
google avatar

Sarah K.

Yelp
Delicious chunky chunk cookies! These cookies are super delicious and are comparable to LeVain in NY. If you know you know. The flavors we tried out included cookies and cream, original chocolate chip, double chocolate walnut and red velvet. The double chocolate walnut and the original chocolate chip ones were our favorite as they weren't overpowering at all and had the perfect consistency. The red velvet was our least favorite- the flavor was lacking and just tasted like plain dough. The cookies and cream is also on the sweeter side, but it really taste like you're eating an Oreo- Oreo lovers will appreciate this one. Location: if you are familiar with where Michaels Cookie Jar used to be near Fountainview, that is the new location for Milk Mustache. Near the San Felipe HEB! Price: About $5 per cookie- but they're huge! Customer Service: Great! I let them know it was my first time and they walked me through all the flavors and gave great suggestions.

Yelp
Good cookies! I walked into this place expecting my gluttony to be satisfied, and it was overstimulated lol! Only thing that would make these cookies better is if they were warmed up. The exterior is hard/crunchy with a gooey, almost undercooked interior. Some cookies are stuffed, and they have weekly "seasonal" special cookies. Additionally, they offer ready-to-eat cookie dough that's without egg. Lots of delicious combinations, and I even got to try several cookie samples. The gingerbread is truly delectable, as is the red velvet (and I'm NOT a red velvet fan, but I AM a cream cheese fan), and the cream cheese filling was actually unnecessary, it was amazing without it. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed her "golden goose" cookie, which was a white chocolate chip-filled cookie covered with rainbow sprinkles, but barely ate 1/10th of it. All in all, these cookies are quite large and totally shareable if you're into that thing lol. I'm more into the personal-sized cookies that are soft, moist all over, and warm. I'd go back to try some classics, like the chocolate chip and cookies & cream. We ended up taking home a 4 pack, which saves $ over just getting 1 or 2. Cute place that smells like heaven when you walk in! Nice staff too!

Staci M.

Yelp
Cookies are good and large. Very sweet but they are cookies so.. $25 for a half dozen. Would get just one next time. The sugar was enough to put me into a diabetic coma.
google avatar

Yelp
FANTASTIC COOKIES!!! The cookies we had from Milk Mustache were amazing--a nice crunchy crust with a slightly doughy interior, just delightful. We had the classic chocolate chip cookie and a cookie with Nutella in the center and covered in pink sprinkles on the outside; both cookies were excellent. And guess what?? They also have a cookie dough bar, where you can order scoops of edible cookie dough (made with no eggs and cooked flour), and they were nice enough to give us a sample of the chocolate chip cookie dough, which was fantastic--I'm getting a scoop on my next visit! And service was very nice--the person working there was so friendly and helpful with answering our questions.
google avatar

Oge O.

Yelp
I was craving a cookie tht was warm and soft on the inside and crispy on the outside... sadly, this wasn't it for Me. It was just too much. Lol I don't know how else to explain it other than overwhelming. I don't know if I was eating raw cookie dough in the middle bcz it wasn't or couldn't be cooked properly due to the thickness.. idk. It was just ok. Service was fantastic and the environment was clean and refreshing. Probably won't be back tho. Had the Nutella snickerdoodle and cookies and cream.
google avatar

Richard N.

Yelp
The best cookies in town! I stumbled upon this amazing cookie shop while shopping nearby. Simple but cute, clean, and modern design. Service was fast and friendly. The cookies are huge--big enough to be shareable. They have about 10 different flavors , with at least 4 flavors are seasonally rotate on the menu. They are a bit on the pricey side, but it's so good and huge that it's worth the money. I ordered half a dozen and they were all delicious. The center was soft and goey but the outside is slightly crisp, which is my ideal cookie. It's about an hour away for me but it's worth the drive. I just wish they had peanut butter as one of the flavors, because that's my all time favorite cookie. Will most definitely be back.
google avatar

Lynae N.

Yelp
Order called in yesterday & I specifically asked if it would be less busy to pick up that eve or opening today & was told today. I was a few minutes after opening & told that they meant to call & tell me that order would be about 30 min late, but hadn't gotten around to it. Delivery was late & they have waited on 5 other people while I am still waiting... I have now been here 45 min (30 min since delivery) & still don't have my order.... UPDATE: Cookies we're delicious but staff absolutely need to be trained for customer service.
google avatar

Michael J.

Yelp
UberEats delivered a great late night treat. We ordered the red velvet, chocolate chip, Cookie Monster and camp fire. The perfectly crisp outside matched with the chewy inside makes for a very tasty cookie. Indulge worthy for sure.
google avatar

Kim A.

Yelp
These cookies are decadent and absolutely heavenly! I stopped in as I was in the area & am so glad I did. Firstly, the store is beautifully decorated and the customer service is impeccable. It was my first time in and the young lady helping me was super sweet. Once I got home & sampled each cookie--y'all, these are the best cookies I've ever had! The chocolate chip cookie was loaded with chocolate chips and perfectly baked. The Golden Goose (sprinkles) & Louis Peanut Vuitton (icing with butterfinger on top) were great, but the true star was the Banana Pudding. I would literally drive in Galleria traffic again for that cookie ALONE. I'm hopeful that more locations open soon!
google avatar

Raizel A.

Yelp
Walking in, it smelled amazingly of cookies and it had a really cute ambiance. The employee was super nice and gave us free samples of cookie dough without us asking. All the cookies had great consistency- crunchy on the outside, gooey on the inside. Here's a breakdown of the cookies we got: 1. Chocolate chip: 8/10. Very solid. 2. Oatmeal chocolate chip walnut: 9/10. Best one we had. Not overly sweet and had very good textures. 3. Red velvet: 7/10. It was advertised as having a cream cheese filling but it was hardly there. 4. Cookies and Cream: 6/10. Overly sweet. Would not get again.

Jimmy V.

Yelp
Cookies are really below average nothing special, they have a decent selection but they're not my style.
google avatar

Kayla C.

Yelp
So happy to see them with a new location closer to Houston. I first visited them in Cypress about a year ago and was so excited to find thick cookies in the Houston area lol. The staff is always welcoming and I love how branded everything is. But the real tea is that the cookie's actually taste as good as they look! Chocolate chip is our go to most of the time. If you're looking for a good cookie in Houston, check them out for sure.
google avatar

Christine K.

Yelp
Was very good. Maybe a tad bit over baked but if you ate the whole thing in a bite you can't tell :). Very yummy cookies!! Only reason for four stars instead of 5 was there wasn't a water fountain! The cookies are so sweet and delicious I felt like I needed some water after sitting there and eating.
google avatar

Gabriel V.

Yelp
Good variety of cookie options for an average price. Was not blown away by the taste and consistency of these cookies considering how well they are presented and how prominent the name is. Worth getting a couple cookies to try, I prefer the ones with a flavored base and not just standard cookie dough with variations of icing. Creative and colorful however.
google avatar

Kelley L.

Yelp
Cookies are expensive but very tasty and filling! Got the Oreo dirt one and was delighted by the gummy worm topping and the level of detail for the cookie. Highly recommend this location that's tucked away on a side road! Cute ambiance and photo worthy.
google avatar

Saleem M.

Yelp
Their red velvet cookie is a must try! They have a bunch of stuffed cookies and edible cookie dough. But the red velvet cookie was just amazing!
google avatar

Marlie M.

Yelp
I actually found these cookies to be dry and, dare I say, flavorless? We bought six: 3 chocolate chip, s'mores, Reese's and M&M. The s'mores was the most decent one because the marshmallow kept it sort of moist. The others were all super dry and almost grainy tasting. My friend went separately and they said their cookies were all very dry and fell apart from the dryness. The Reese's especially was not good...The cocoa was overpowering but that's a personal preference. We threw three of our cookies away and at $5/cookie, was not cheap. I will say the location is super cute and fun! They also sell edible cookie dough (it doesn't have egg) though we didn't try that. I've had similar cookies from Bittersweet Houston and they were much, much better. Much more moist and the cookies (we got one of every flavor except Nutella brownie) all had the actual flavor of the cookie name.

Debbie A.

Yelp
Fyi they charge $2 activation fee for gift cards without telling you there's a fee. atleast inform the custome.
google avatar

Stacey P.

Yelp
Fantastic cookies. My colleague from work recommended these cookies as it's a place by her house. I live quite far but I was around there recently and decided to stop by. Cookies are huge 2 people or more can comfortably eat one. My favorite flavors were chocolate chip and banana pudding!
google avatar

Travis W.

Yelp
This place is great. Friendly staff and delicious cookies at a reasonable price. I highly suggest the birthday cake cookie dough.
google avatar

Nadia B.

Yelp
So... I went to this place three times in a week, and I am not ashamed lol and the banana pudding cookie has my heart. The cashier didn't judge me not one time, so I love that. And the inside is cute and pink.
google avatar

Autumn F.

Yelp
I mean I don't need to tell you the cookies are good... they speak for themselves 10/10

Joyce D.

Yelp
I was really looking forward to this place but it fell flat :/ The cookies were underwhelming and overpriced. I tried a variety of flavors (unfortunately they ran out of the banana pudding one so I couldn't try that one) and the only one I didn't mind much was the salted caramel pecan one. The red velvet was the worst one, and the chocolate chip one was subpar compared to the McDonald's chocolate chip cookies. The service was also subpar.

Larissa I.

Yelp
Best cookies in Houston! I'd like to consider myself a cookie expert haha. I'm always on the lookout for a chewy cookie that is not dry or crumbly, and these cookies hit the spot! They are better than Dough Digger, Tiff's Treats, and Crumble (in my opinion). Why are they better? 1. They are THICK! But not dry or crumbly. 2. Unique flavors! Tried their banana pudding cookie, which sounds sort of weird, but holy cow! It has banana pudding IN the cookie! How is the cookie perfectly baked (but not dry) and has a layer of pudding in it? It tasted exactly like banana pudding, but having it with a cookie too?! Delicious! You win Milk Mustache!
