The 16 Best Restaurants In Nantucket 2024

"Millie’s is worth the bike ride to Madaket Beach for sunset margaritas, fish tacos, and lobster quesadillas. The restaurant’s coastal dishes are heavily influenced by California cuisine, which basically just means you can get guac or queso and chips for the table along with a fresh lobster roll. They’re first come, first served before sunset, so get there early to hear a hundred or so drunk people on vacation freak out over the sun dipping into the horizon. Hit the market next door for two things before you leave: ice cream and to-go cocktail kits you can make at home." - tanya edwards

13 Best Bars on Nantucket | Eater Boston

"The drinks at Millie’s aren’t quite worth the trip out to Madaket alone, but the tacos and quesadillas certainly are, and it’s hard to beat the friendly vibe and sea views at this much-loved spot. In addition to margaritas, palomas, and the famous Madaket Mystery rum punch, Millie’s has a good selection of Cisco beers on tap and bottled Mexican beers, as well as a number of wines by the glass or bottle. Millie’s is open on a first come, first served basis." - Katie Faust Stryjewski

Luv this place-felt like the people working there Loved this place- guacamole is on point street corn clam chowder - fantastic quesadillas- there's literally no wrong answers on this menu. Sorry to say no Montucky Cold Snacks but the red stripe, it's served at the perfect temperature and uh, the margaritas, fantastic i really can't say enough. Good things about this place indoor outdoor Outback sunsets, and did I mention there's an ice cream shop next door that also sells rum..wait what- Where have you been all my life Millie's?!

Google
We ordered our meals and took them to the beach. It really was one of the best lobster rolls I had. And the grilled street corn was off the charts! We brought our own bottle of wine and enjoyed the meal while watching the sunset.

Google
We have ordered the queso as take out and the containers are smaller than they used to be. And they now barely fill the containers. This is the second time they have only filled it half way. The queso is good but not sure how the staff is unaware of how little they are filling it. This is how literally much it was filled when I opened it

Google
Super-casual place very close to Madaket Beach. Views from second floor are worth the trip. Prices are a bit steep for the portions; but you're paying for location and atmosphere. (And, to be clear, Nantucket is a pricey destination, no matter the store or restaurant.) Staff is very friendly. Large bike rack!

Geoffrey Herpok

Google
Fun place to go to when you're out at madaket beach, nice outdoor patio with a marketplace, friendly waitstaff and the food was delicious. There is also a downstairs and upstairs bar and easy walking access to the beach. Easy to get there from town and the Wave bus drops you off right in front.

Google
Casual Mexican join serving great food. Very generous portion sizes - one main per person is plenty so no need to over order. We got the ceviche, tacos and quesadilla - all were great expect the chips with the ceviche were a little greasy. It is pretty expensive for a low-key Mexican restaurant, but I guess it is Nantucket! I would come back/reccomend this place

Rodney Ressling

Google
It is very hard to find good Mexican food on the East Coast, but this is a place I would take my Texas and California friends and family. The 'Street Corn' was worth the visit. We ordered most of the different tacos. My favorite was the pork, but the others were a close second. Thumbs up on the margarita from my wife.

Chef Chris Paul

Google
Set a relaxing atmosphere went there for lunch there are two bars available set upstairs at the top bar add the oyster tacos server told me they bred the oysters themselves hot and spicy sweet creamy and salty why did they come back to try the Mahi tacos excellent Spanish influence towards the menu have outside dining available great parking made some friends unbelievable service they train their staff very well good job guys. I'll be back.

Yelp
My family and I had one of our most memorable meals here. You can't beat the view, and the vibe really hit the spot. Our waitress was kind and attentive. She knew how to get food out quickly for kiddos and also keep the alcohol flowing for adults. We got a lovely spot in the corner on the second floor. It was hot, but it was lovely! The salads were creative and large. I also liked all the fried fish I tried. I appreciated the variety of the kids' dishes and that they came with multiple components. Casual but also a little upscale at the same time - perfect for Nantucket.

Yelp
Evie and Matt are the best bartenders. The service and food was amazing. Cant wait to come back

Yelp
Great location near the beach. They have a parking lot and I am ever so grateful they have staff to manage traffic going in and out of the lot. There is a wait to get seated. We didn't have to wait that long though. We got seated on one of the outdoor picnic tables which was great! I mean, the weather in Nantucket is temperate, so we got to enjoy it while we can, right? As soon as we got seated, we got our menus and water handed to us right away. I don't know how, but our server Margot somehow could tell when we're ready or when we need her. Wauwinet Salad was delicious! Poboy Sandwich was satisfying. Street Corn appetizer was somehow both light and satisfying.

Yelp
This review is for their amazing food cart at Cisco. Best mahi mahi with pineapple salsa taco EVER and good tuna poke. The yellow light rice with taco also best EVER. Will go to actual restaurant next time on Nantucket! Great first time at Cisco Brewery. Our first visit to Cisco and Millie's food cart gave us an A plus late lunch. Nice server!

Yelp
My family stays in Madaket and we typically have dinner at Millie's at least once a summer. The menu has run its course. We were discussing how the menu has basically remained unchanged since they opened around 2010. There are never any "specials" or new offerings. I see they have opened a location mid-island (guess what... it's the same menu). The food is average at best. The service is good. The best thing is the view at sunset.
google avatar

Yelp
Dare we say best value on the island? Especially if you are a lobster fan. The Gibbs salad has the biggest chunks of lobster that it would be hard pressed to find a more substantial lobster salad on Nantucket. Hack- get a the creamy basil dressing as extra on the side of the salad. The creamy dressing is the perfect extra complement to the salad. The lobster quesadilla was absolutely stuffed with lobster and enough for two meals. Millie's gets busy pretty early at the evening but the service is quick and attentive and food gets delivered quickly. Come before 5pm if you want to get dinner and then catch the sunset on the beach. Indoors can get a bit loud with how popular Millie's is, but there are two outdoor patios that have lots of tables and full service. Next door to Millie's is the market which has some drinks and ice cream - so make sure to check it out after dinner!

Yelp
Flavors - 4/5 Textures - 4.5/5 Presentation- 4/5 Value for money - 3.5/5 Would return? Yes Must-try: fish tacos Their fish tacos stole the show with their generous portions and impeccable flavors, and the surprise addition of a cold rice salad infused with Lebanese flavors sparked a lively conversation at our table, leaving a lasting impression. However, the fried oyster tacos fell flat, lacking the vibrancy and excitement we had hoped for, as they turned out to be rather bland and uninspiring. The burrata appetizer failed to make a lasting impression, leaving us underwhelmed and unlikely to order it again. On a brighter note, the salads at Millie's were a true delight. I opted for the blackened salmon salad with creamy goat cheese, and it exceeded expectations in both size and taste. The dressing was a hit, perfectly complementing the fresh ingredients that made each bite a burst of flavor.

Yelp
What a great spot! The food was great, the beer cold and the staff wonderful! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I'm telling you this was the best place to have some really good fresh seafood tacos! The flavors were excellent I had the $28 Eel Point tacos (tuna wasabi) and the $27 Esther Island tacos (scallop) tacos... so good!!! The fresh tacos here are on the expensive side but well worth it! It was a perfect day and walking distance to Madakat Beach!

Yelp
Great place to eat. The food is amazing!!! People are the best. The upstairs bar is the best in the whole place you need to go.

Marla S.

Yelp
Just tried the rotary takeout location. Call me a snob I'm from California but $26 for two cold tacos where they didn't even heat the tortillas and the rice was also cold. Please, you could do better at Stop & Shop. I hope this management takes a trip to New Mexico or Southern California and learns what real Mexican cuisine is. Finally, there's something odd about ordering your food and having to go to the takeout window and then carry it back to your seat in cardboard containers, and eat with cheap utensils. As usual people are very friendly there. No complaints there but going back to my original rule: never order food east of the Sacramento river or north of the Mason Dixon line.

Yelp
We returned to Millie's hoping for a good dinner a few nights ago and after the meal have decided we won't be back. Everything seems premade on their menu and out from the kitchen to your table in minutes lacking flavor. Our order included: 1. Guacamole and chips, hands down the worst guacamole I have ever tasted. Filled with some type of preservative that made it taste carbonated. 2. Kids steak taco - un-seasoned steak in a tortilla with a side of rice and fruit (grapes and clementine segments) 3. Moors End Farm Salad - this was ok according to my party member who ordered it but it lacked seasoning. 4. Pocomo Tacos - lacking flavor, thrown together and tasted like "cafeteria food" 5. Rhode Island Avenue - the sever apologized for how much later this arrived to the table compared to everyone else's food as theirs was at the table within 5 minutes. My meal was clearly the only freshly cooked one but again the steak lacked seasoning and was very chewy. Enough so that I took it all out and ate the quesadilla without it. We have eaten at Millie's every summer for years but the food has progressively gone downhill for the last 3 seasons. I do not leave a negative review to hurt the restaurant but I hope they will read this and take the time to consider a different approach to their quality of food. Having freshly cooked food properly seasoned as well as the ability to change proteins or adjust the meals to one's food restrictions/preferences would greatly enhance the diners experience.

Yelp
Always wonderful meals delivered by professional and friendly staff. Can't beat the quesadilla! Or, most anything else on the menu.

Yelp
This was one of our favorite restaurants on the island and the only one within walking distance of us as we were staying in Madaket. All the casual but elevated dishes we tried here were excellent, and I got to satisfy my lobster cravings multiple times in salads and quesadillas where they didn't skimp at all on the prime ingredient. Although pricey, it was definitely no worse than any other restaurant on the island, but was easier to get into last minute and the only place we visited multiple times. Ambiance out by the beach on a nice day is fabulous. Don't miss this spot if near Madaket.
google avatar

Megan W.

Yelp
We didn't go upstairs but from arriving, we could tell this place is hopping and has a ton of crowds going throughout the day. They had tents up so people were sitting outside but we were able to snag a spot at the bar. Great bartenders and servers, the drinks that my friends ordered looked delicious (margs seem to be their forte!). We ordered chips and dip trio and it came out almost immediately. The guac is nice and chunky and I personally was not a fan of the salsa but it had a tangy/cilantro taste to it, if you're into that! We stayed a little later so eventually got to a real table and ordered food. I ordered the shrimp po boy and was astounded by how giant the shrimp were. Needless to say, I was stuffed after my meal. It's a cool spot and only a few steps away from the beach so definitely check it out. Bonus - lots of dogs!

Yelp
Delicious food! Locals suggested to try this place out for lunch - we knew we are in for a treat with that kind of recommendation. We weren't too hungry so kept it light with soup and salad. Corn and clam chowder soup was tasty and fresh. I enjoyed every single bite of it. Salad was very fresh, crunchy with just the perfect dressing. We got the corner table with fantastic view. Unlike other places, they have better view from inside of the restaurant then outside. Servers / staff was very sweet, prompt and courteous. Do give this place a try, you won't regret it.
google avatar

Kristina B.

Yelp
The service is super quick. The alter rock - best part was the guacamole and would just get that next time. The cheese was a little thick. The salsa a little spicy for me. The tacos were good but perhaps sauce on the side would be best as I felt they were overdressed and again became spicy. The salad was good. The negative part was found a chip of a plate in the guacamole - they did remove from the bill but a stop by from a manager with apology would have gone along way and perhaps offer a replacement.
google avatar

Steven S.

Yelp
Great spot. Go late afternoon for a Madaket Mystery before the young uns take over. Long live The Westender!

Tom R.

Yelp
Holy cow this place stunk. Tab for lunch was $114 for two entrees, one drink, one beer, and one soda. Halibut tacos were borderline inedible (so dry + cold). Chips + guac + queso + salsa were average at best. Food came out in 30sec ... pre-made. I would not return. Worse than anything I've had at home in Chicago.
google avatar

Celina Y.

Yelp
First time on the island and we were staying at a house in Madaket. Millie's is really the only restaurant option unless you take a bus into town and luckily it's a great spot! Over the week we were there we went probably 3 or 4 times for food and drinks. The prices are expensive but probably on part with most other restaurants in Nantucket. The tacos and the summer rice salad were great, and they a lot of items on the menu I wanted to try! They also have a little market next door that has ice cream and basic groceries.
google avatar

Katherine R.

Yelp
Get the queso!! This was the best queso I have ever had. My friend brought me here and said we each had to get our own because it's so incredible. She was correct! We also tried some margaritas and quesadillas. Everything was great and the bartenders were awesome. We also enjoyed the live music and the overall vibe. I will be back (specifically for the queso)!!!
google avatar

Bethany I.

Yelp
This was a lovely dinner in a very picturesque location! They had clear delineations for gluten free, dairy free, egg & nut free options which we appreciated! The server was kind and organized!
google avatar

J. B.

Yelp
Given all of the hype, I started to temper expectations, and then somehow Millie's was able to live up to the initial high praise set by literally everyone I know. I had the Westender, which were some of the best fish tacos I've had on the East Coast, if not the best. My fish was seasoned aggressively and cooked to perfection. The corn tortillas were actually structurally sound, and held together, even with the heft of the fish and salsa. Added bonus was their homemade hot sauce; I made sure to grab a bottle to take home from their little store next door.

B C.

Yelp
Had an early dinner to beat the crowds. Staff was friendly and polite. Drinks are expensive but good (it's vacation time!). We had the lobster quesadillas and loved them---big chunks of lobster that wasn't overwhelmed by the other ingredients (cheese, etc.). Unfortunately, it was a cloudy day so we didn't get the sunset that is supposed to be fabulous there. Millie's also has a food truck at Cisco Brewery but give either place a try!

Abby A.

Yelp
Favorite spot on island! Very fresh ingredients, healthy menu, very accommodating with gluten free and other allergies. Beautiful to sit outside and eat
google avatar

Yelp
We always love Millie's when we visit Nantucket. It's a great place for salads, tacos and quesadillas. Very busy at times. We got there early and were promptly seated and waited on. Super friendly staff. Meals are always good. Love the Cliff Road salmon salad. So many choices of tacos and quesadillas!! Fun drinks too!

Annie S.

Yelp
Fun Fun! A must while going to Nantucket! Have had great drinks n food! Atmosphere is so beachy!

Nancy B.

Yelp
Millie's is perfect food, drinks, vibe and atmosphere. But I really wish your red-headed, red lipsticked parking attendant would have treated me with respect and not like a child. I know the parking situation is tight but she really made things worse than they had to be. Minus the parking attendant, you're a perfect 10!

Grant K.

Yelp
The bartenders at the downstairs bar were the most friendly helpful people I've ever met. Never had to wait for a drink, bartenders always wanted make conversation with us. Really felt like they cared. Food came out quick and was delicious. Great environment at Millie's. Fun group of people. End of day, they good shit
google avatar

Greg W.

Yelp
Millie's is a SoCal vibe in Nantucket, where everything fresh and from the sea meets expert preparation and flair that is rarely seen in such a highly affluent area. This isn't super intricate or delicate food. It's a more simple preparation and just treating the ingredients with respect and having a deft hand with seasoning. Whether you are talking about lobster, slow-cooked pork, locally-caught fish or seafood, it just all feels so perfectly balanced when you look at the entire plate of food. We ordered probably 12 different dishes and no one was disappointed with any of the items ordered. We not only ate outside at the picnic tables, under a tent, but also got chips+queso+margaritas to go (to the nearby beach). They offer a lot of value and food for the money you spend. The staff and process in being seated and served was seamless. The eating area was clean and spotless, after being sanitized in front of us before we sat. I don't care where you are on the island - make sure you get to Millie's... and if you need a suggestion - look for the Lobster Roll under the "Po'Boys"... where it "hides"!!!!
google avatar

Meg C.

Yelp
This was once a local favorite. It has become more popular now. They do not take reservations (at least for now) and there is almost always a wait. But it is well worth it! They will text you when the table is ready. You are able to sit outside and get drinks while you wait. You just order at the window and find a tall table. They do have takeout as well. Their drinks are yummy and I love their tacos and quesadillas (40th Pole). The food is tex-mex but not as greasy or cheesy as other restaurants on the mainland. I HIGHLY recommend their Mexican corn. Parking lot is small, people tend to park on the street. PLEASE do not park in people's driveways or in front of their house. Casual attire, dogs welcome outside.
google avatar

Charlene C.

Yelp
Sunday night dinner in June with 4 adults and one infant. Got right inside upstairs. 2 lobster quesadillas, 1 shrimp po boy sandwich and 1 salad. Drinks all around. Very good. Quick service. Guacamole real. The menu is this (tacos, quesadillas, few sandwiches and salads) do not go expecting courses or high end food. No chicken nuggets, fried food or pizza. We knew this and loved it. Pricey but it's Nantucket so expect that. We loved it and would go back. It can be loud.

emma c.

Yelp
I am extremely dissapointed in millies. Theyre food is pre made. It was awful. I will never be returning. I ordered the guac - That was not great. The goat cheese quesidilla came with no goAT CHEESE. LIKE WHAT???????? THE Burrate comes with no bread. I said how do you eat this to my sever... He said with a fork??????
google avatar

Albert S.

Yelp
Great place to come after the beach. Tacos, salads with Lobster, ceviche, poke and sun shine. Lots of outdoor seating.
google avatar

Madeline S.

Yelp
It is rare that I find a perfectly crafted Caesar salad but this was IT!! This was the best first meal in Nantucket that I could have had! Such a cute and clean establishment in Madaket with friendly, accommodating staff. This wasn't my only time having a delicious meal from Millie's while I was on my trip. When I was at Cisco Brewers, I stopped by the Millie's food truck and got myself a salmon poke bowl! It was AMAZING! Definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants a great meal with an ocean view :)
google avatar

Matt C.

Yelp
Amazingly seasoned scallop tacos. I would make the trip to the island just for those!
google avatar

Jefferson L.

Yelp
They've much improved their po' boy sandwiches. The fixins were better, and the sandwich came with a yummy aoli sauce. Millie's actually has three different po' boy sandwiches now. I enjoyed the one with shrimp. We will return.
google avatar

Linc T.

Yelp
The food is fine, and they prices reasonable for Nantucket. The dishes are well prepared and the staff is friendly even on a busy night. However, the inside seating of the restaurant is set up to be over crowded. They need to take out a table or two and add so sound absorbing panels. The noise is deafening and the family friendly atmosphere means kids are running around, crying, or just irritated by all the activity around them. A child friendly restaurant need someone who will be sweeping and mopping up the food kids drop - these little princess and princes are just as messy as any other kids.
google avatar

Kaitlin M.

Yelp
The best spot! The summer of 2021 they introduced the Taco Box for take out and let me tell you, it was amazing. Feeds 6, you choose chicken / steak / mahi mahi / shrimp and it was delicious. We had leftovers that we scrambled into migas the next day which was perfect. The market there is wonderful--from drinks too bring to the beach to millies sweatshirts, beach snacks, ice, and even masks and bracelets (fav: vaxxed), it's the perfect spot to stop into en route to the beaches nearby. Great service!
google avatar

Allie C.

Yelp
Don't even need to write a review because Yelp already speaks for itself! Millies is the best Mexican food on Island.
google avatar

Nicole B.

Yelp
OUTSTANDING! So many people recommended Millies so we had to check it off our list. We biked from the center of town on a hot day so when we arrived we were beyond hungry. Our server Stan was fantastic and made sure to leave an ice cold pitcher of water for us as well as give recommendations for the remainder of our trip. The food was out of this world- incredibly fresh and portions of lobster were generous! The views are incredible and you can bike right over to gorgeous Madaket Beach.
google avatar

Laurie I.

Yelp
Ok, so they just opened but really? It was a cold day and we had a party of 6. I guess they did not write it down so after we waited 20 minutes we walked up and they gave us a seat. We sat down ordered. 28.00 for ceviche and my daughter got tacos, just two. they were the smallest potions I have ever gotten. 5 pita chips with my meal and two of the smallest tacos I have ever seen. Drinks , ok, but you really pay for that. It was so cold we had to eat with our coats on. Also they forgot one meal in the party and did not even apologize. Just said that for your patience. Not right. I looked at the tea shirts and 40.00 a piece? Really? the other thing is if you are having people who get their meal late don't come before she is done and ask if we are finished, that your need the table. We were there for no more than 45 minutes, maybe 30 and you are rushing us out? It's like lets give them less so we can give them the bums rush and charge them a small fortune and kick them out fast. Something is not right here, I have been here once before and it was not like this. Sad as the food was tasty even thought it was super tiny portions

Yelp
The most delicious food, wonderful staff in the perfect location. Loved Millie's and I highly recommend this icon place.

Yelp
This may have actually been my favorite meal in Nantucket. We ordered from the to-go window and got: Tomato sandwich - out of this world. maybe the best tomato sandwich I've ever had. Turkey sandwich - would definitely get again; loved the grainy mustard on it and the super crispy bacon. Only reason for taking off a star was it wasn't the most convenient/ clear that we needed to order food from one place and drinks from another. Would be easier if you could order it all at once and pay for it at once.

Sue Z.

Yelp
A very sad time for me. My absolute favorite Tristam's Landing Taco is no longer available. I have no desire to go back .
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful place by the beach! Took a drive on beach for sunset and stopped at Millies on way back for apps and drinks. Place was packed so short wait for table but glad we did. Waiter Wes was so sweet and attentive the bar tender and hostess very accommodating and welcoming. We had a pup with us and everyone came to greet her and made experience so fun. Drinks and food were perfect as well! Thank you Millies!

Yelp
Millie's in Nantucket was a very cool spot to grab a bite to eat and have a nice cold beverage. Adult or non-adult either way you will find something for you. We had a large party and called ahead to have them set the table up. I do not believe they take reservations, but they were very accommodating in getting our large party an area to sit. In fact, they told us to show up at around 6:30, however we had to wait around 45 minutes to sit, so the manager decided to give us a free first round of drinks and chips with guacamole and salsa. This was a very nice touch! We were able to sit by the window and had a great view of the ocean and the sunset. It was truly a nice experience to eat and be able to watch the sunset at the same time. Our waitress was patient with our giant table and provided insight and suggestions for every item we asked about. The food came out pretty quickly and the waitress would always be coming around asking if we needed drinks or anything else, which is always nice to have with your servers. I had the maji maji tacos, I know the name was something different, but either way I loved these tacos. The guacamole and the mango salsa were such an amazing combo that I think I ate my tacos in twenty seconds. My girlfriend had the tuna tacos, which she thought were okay, I tried them and thought the same. The steak quesadilla was also really dope. It was huge and had so much cheese and meat which is exactly what you are looking for in your quesadilla. Great experience, Great time, and Great service. Certainly check this place out.

Esmeralda M.

Yelp
I typically don't complain; I understand the restaurant business is hectic and stressful; my daughter had the worse experience out there Friday night, she ordered take-out, and one of the children she babysits is a picky eater; the child requested a quesadilla without cheese, sounds silly right?! But they could have easily ordered tacos, but they didn't want that; he wanted his meal to look like a quesadilla with no cheese. The manager told my daughter they weren't Taco Bell and didn't do such accommodations. The delivery could have been a bit nicer; just saying. So if you are a parent with picky eaters, don't bring them there. Save yourselves embarrassment and disappointment on how they treat their customers.

Yelp
Loved this restaurant. It is the only option on this side of Nantucket but the food was really unique. A mix of Mexican and seafood was something I hadn't seen before, and is a great place for families or for date night. After dinner take a walk down the street to the beach.
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
Being from Texas we were somewhat skeptical of Tex Mex in the northeast but the quesadillas were wonderful. We tried three different ones and shared them. The consensus was that the chicken and goat cheese (40th Pole Quesadilla) was the best and then the Scallop Quesadilla and the Grilled Shrimp Quesadillas were also very good - tough competition. Our server was attentive and delightful and the hostesses were very friendly. It's definitely worth taking the ride out to Millie's when visiting Nantucket!
