Rustic Canyon Crew Opens New York-Style Pizza Counter in Santa Monica - Eater LA

"After closing Sweet Rose Creamery’s retail spot on Pico, and moving ice cream production to the rear part of the building, dynamic Westside restaurant group Rustic Canyon reworked the front space as Milo SRO. The New York-style delivery and takeout counter in Santa Monica opens today. The SRO stands for “Standing Room Only,” and standouts are a fancy white pie — that’s actually the name — with mozzarella, taleggio, creamy raclette, ricotta, giardiniera, basil and garlic oil. Or there’s the tangy BBQ with organic barbecue chicken, bacon, mozzarella, red onion, green onion, and cilantro. If neither sounds appealing, diners can opt for a customized pie. They’ll also serve a limited amount of thick-crust Sicilian pizzas are made each day with organic flour and tomatoes, non-GMO mozzarella, and locally-sourced meats. Milo SRO’s New York-style pizzas start with a 48-hour fermented dough, then one of nine topping combinations. The counter will keep a rotating selection by-the-slice, plus a rare leap from a pizzeria: a gluten-free crust. Desserts include a gluten-free tiramisu, giant chocolate chip cookies, and half and full pints Sweet Rose Creamery. The trio behind it all are Milo & Olive’s chef and partner Erin Eastland, head baker Zoe Nathan, and chef de cuisine Jen Toomey. Even though “SRO” implies no seats are available, stools and benches allow dining in the cozy space. For now, Milo SRO’s hours are from 4 to 10 p.m. Starting May 6, the pizza parlor will extend hours from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Delivery options are available on Uber Eats, Postmates, Doordash, and Caviar." - Mona Holmes

Local farmers ingredients, mostly organic. Vegan and gluten free options. Hand crafted sodas and homemade tea, cold brew and lemonade. Pizza by the slices, salads And with the same Sweet rose owners, the ice cream is still available by the pint and half pint. Just come by and check it out. You'll love it.

Sooo delicious! Love the thin, soft crust and the eggplant Parma had the perfect amount of sauce/ eggplant/ cheese ratio. And get a side of ranch!

Well done. Staff really easy-going, good pizza. Domino's in the neighborhood has no chance.

Love the place--has great vibes, really nice staff, and their pizza is great. Their dough is absolutely incredible, which is what a good pizza is all about for me. Their sauce is tasty, and it's nice big slices. I had a slice of margarita and a slice of mushroom garlic (great cheese pull!) and omgggg, I love both of them- will definitely be back soon. They also have a cool selection of soda drinks, and I keep craving their sesame garlic knots. If you're looking for a quick bite, or something nice or fun to bring for a get together GO HEEEERE

So far I've loved every place in the Rustic Canyon Group and this place is no exception. Great gluten free pizza options. I typically get one small and one large for 3 people and we have leftovers (my favorite part of pizza night).

Takeout and “standing room only” pizza spot in Santa Monica serving NY style, Sicilian, and gluten-free pizza. They do offer pizza by the slice options or you can order a whole pizza. Credit cards are accepted and there is a 4% surcharge for its employees. No bathrooms are available. Metered street parking. There is a small bench outside the restaurant where you could sit or you could take your pizza to the park nearby to enjoy. Came here on a Saturday post-hike for lunch around 1pm, and there was no line. We got slices to-go and they offered to heat the pizza up, which was nice of them. The New York style pepperoni pizza was tasty and had a nice chew. The Sicilian Margherita slice (a vegetarian option) was much thicker and has a texture more similar to a ciabatta bread. They do have dessert options from Sweet Rose. It’s a casual spot to grab a quick bite of high quality pizza by the slice.

The Milo team has done it again! Serving excellent versions of NY-style pizza. Thin, crisp crust. Fresh, high-quality ingredients. The veggies were perfectly cooked. I was particularly impressed by the GF mushroom and roasted garlic pizza. Can’t wait to go back for more (I’m looking at you, GF eggplant parm)! Ignore the comments about high prices. It you want a cheap product, go elsewhere. If you want the best NY-style pizza Santa Monica has to offer with ingredients you can be rest assured come from fresh from the farmers markets and/or were made in-house, go to Milo SRO.

I could tell if it was hot it may very well have been the best BBQ chicken pizza I've ever had. For 5 bucks a slice who would've imagined you'd have to do anything but devour it. I had no idea the slices would be heat yourself. There are even heating instructions on the box. We were visiting from far out if town and therefore had no access to an oven. My verdict is as follows: If your a local: 4.5 out of 5. Half point deduction for price only. Presentation, ingredients, staff, taste are all 5 stars. If your staying in a hotel: Go elsewhere. It's disheartening to get back to your room with a 9 year old, after waiting an hour for an online order, only to find cold pizza.
