29 Best Restaurants in Dubai, From Kebab Counters to Late-Night Lounges | Condé Nast Traveler

"Inspired by 1920s Japan and located in the Four Seasons Restaurant Village, I enjoyed Mimi Kakushi’s stylish, scene-setting space and its roster of signature dishes that keep diners returning—miso black cod gyozas, baked bone marrow topped with beef tartare, and a seasonal mushroom donabe rice pot. The bar is also worth a stop for pre- or post-dinner drinks." - Claudia de Brito, Sophie Prideaux

The Low-Key Hangouts Challenging Dubai’s Maximalist Reputation

"At the chichi Restaurant Village at Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach, local La Cantine group has opened Mimi Kakushi, a sultry stained-glass-lined dining room inspired by 1920s Osaka, where well-heeled diners munch on Wagyu and foie gras gyozas and sip sake cocktails."

I had one of my most memorable dining experiences at Mimi kakushi recently and I felt it deserved a proper shout out. From the moment I walked in the team made it feel less like a dinner reservation and more like the start of a small culinary journey. With recommendations flowing effortlessly between Executive Chef Hoon, Head Chef Henry and Sushi Chef Go Nagano every dish felt like it had a story behind it. I started with the Chutoro and Otoro nigiri which were melt in the mouth perfect. Chef Nagano’s precision and balance really showed here. The spicy salmon maki and salmon sashimi continued that clean, elegant flavour profile the restaurant is known for. The highlight for me though was The Miso Black cod, a suggestion from Chef Hoon that turned out to be absolutely spot on. It was rich, silky and just the right amount of ingredients blasting flavours in every bite. Service throughout the evening was genuinely impeccable. Mr Joaquin looked after the table with a kind of attention that never felt forced, always appearing at the right moment. It’s clear this standard comes under the steady guidance of Mr Mathieu, who sets the tone for hospitality at Mimikakushi. Overall it was the combination of thoughtful recommendations, skilled craftsmanship and warm service that made the evening special. A big thank you to the entire team Mimi kakushi, This restaurant deserves 3 Michelin stars⭐️⭐️⭐️ can’t wait to be back.

Wow, it honestly doesn’t get any better than this! Mimi Kakushi was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had on my travels. The food was absolutely incredible, the service was so warm and attentive, and the atmosphere made me feel instantly welcome. I’ll definitely be back — this place truly left a lasting impression!

Went on Saturday for brunch with a big group celebrating a friend’s birthday. Both the food and drinks were exceptional, and our waiter provided amazing service throughout the afternoon. Standouts for me were the cold appetizers, the beef skewers, and the lush dessert tray — all beautifully done and memorable. Highly recommended, especially for group celebrations or anyone looking for a top-notch brunch experience in Dubai. Thanks to Ivan.

My partner and I came here for a date night and both agreed it was one of the best restaurants we have been to in Dubai. What made it extra special was the head chef Henry and the team at the sushi bar personally welcoming us and giving us suggestions. Throughout our experience Henry kept checking in on us even though he was busy. The food was absolutely amazing but the hospitality we received made our experience top tier. Thank you!

I wouldn’t recommend this place for couples — here’s why. While the food was undeniably delicious (and yes, overpriced but still worth trying), the overall experience left a lot to be desired. Like many upscale restaurants, the menu comes without any pictures, which makes it difficult to navigate if you're not already familiar with Japanese cuisine. This could be quite confusing for first-time diners. The seating arrangement is another issue. There’s absolutely no sense of privacy for couples or small groups — tables are placed barely a meter apart, making it feel crowded and uncomfortable. This setup is especially unsuitable for guests from the Gulf region who value privacy while dining. It’s a much better setup if you come as part of a large group, where you’re given a more appropriate table. Lastly, the service felt a bit arrogant. At this price point, I expect welcoming and attentive staff — not attitude. Great food alone isn’t enough to make up for poor hospitality, especially in a fine dining setting.

First and foremost it needs to be said that in my honest opinion, Mimi Kakushi is one of the top three best restaurants in Dubai. This is our third time eating at Mimi Kakushi and we were extremely excited days leading up to the experience. Before arriving I said to my wife that it’s nice knowing that with assurance we were going to be having one of the best meals of the year. The overall experience itself was fine - but this being said if this was the first time experiencing Mimi, I would have been really disappointed. The experience fell well short of my previous encounters. The CDC and executive chef were absolutely brilliant and made every effort to welcome us to the restaurant and enhance our experience. The food itself was delicious, however the overall experience was significantly hindered by the service. Simple things were missed which impacted the overall experience. No matter how busy you are, you should not drop hot starters when cold starters are still on the table. Tempura should be served hot and crisp. For a restaurant or this calibre hot food should be served hot. We returned the last of the dishes only after the previous three were served cold. We then had to ask to have the replacement returned - 20 minutes after it had been taken away as it had been forgotten. In my opinion you should never be asked to wait by service staff, and you shouldn’t have to call their attention two or three times to order additional drinks. It is basic etiquette for service staff to offer additional drinks when an empty glass is collected. The maître d worked really hard to accommodate as there were obvious problems on multiple tables. To his credit he was managing a complex table next to us, however this shouldnt impact our experience. Unfortunately the front of house let the back of house down and it really changed the whole experience of the afternoon. I would return again, but it will be a while before I make the effort or commitment to this restaurant. Compliments to the kitchen, and specifically the CDC. The ambience and atmosphere in the restaurant was great with beautiful music and an immaculate decor. The restaurant helped us celebrate our friend’s birthday and we are really grateful for that. All being said we love this restaurant, but there needs to be a review and overhaul of the service team.

Top notch service. Food equally delicious. The black cod is one item I highly recommend along with the short ribs for those who prefer meat. If you're looking for a smaller dish to share, the miso eggplant was just perfect. A truly lovely experience
