"We run the People's Fridge alongside Mina's World, and it’s an option for anyone who needs a free meal, no questions asked. It might seem like an unlikely destination when you’re looking at food spots, but we just started a new program where everyday cooks are dropping off 20 to 40 meals, and it’s allowing folks to try home cooking of all levels. All the food is really nutritious beautiful dishes that you can tell the person who cooked it made it with loving intention. "Mina's World is a South Asian specialty grocery store located at 4203 Walnut Street, West Philly. The store is known for offering a variety of spices essential for Indian cooking, such as cumin, bay leaves, cinnamon bark, cardamom, cloves, turmeric, mustard seeds, fennel, and chile peppers. It also provides dry boxed masalas, DIY Indian dessert-making kits, and snacks like tomato chile KurKure and Haldiram’s Khatta Meetha mix. "Mina’s World is a community-oriented, QTPOC-owned and -operated coffee shop. It doubles as a community hub, offers home goods made by local artists, serves snacks and drinks nodding to the owners' combined Indian and Korean roots, and aims to be an alternate kind of coffee shop in Philly with fair employee pay, ethical sourcing for coffee beans, and a community fridge outside the venue. Drinks include chai with rose syrup, yuja-cha, and samosas, as well as specialty drinks like the Brazilian-inspired beverage created by their manager of operations, Paula Cooke.
