Google
Overpriced, bland food - no flavor, and there were old, hard, dried up pieces of BBQ pork on top of the rice. It looked as if they were left out uncovered in the fridge. They're slicing their vegetables extremely thin, seems to make them stretch farther. Do not recommend this restaurant.

Google
This was the first Chinese food I ever ate as a kid. Was happy to see them still around! The food was as good as I remember, except for the pan fried noodles, which tasted like the oil was old/burnt. The service was excellent!

Google
Ming wahs used to be the beat chinese restaurant in town. Ive been coming here for almost 20 years. Even though the flavor is consistently great. The prices have almost doubled and the portion sizes are now half of what they used to be. Definitely will not be coming back.

Google
They're fine if you want greasy "Chinese" fast food with lots of starch. Yum! That's like fanatically raving about authentic Mexican at Taco Bell, LMAO. All the raving reviews are for this sort of eater. If you're looking for real food, go elsewhere. Rather have done Panda Express? This place isn't for me. Mediocre Chinese fast food, lots of hobos roaming around outside, police everywhere, and the lot is empty (to go orders only). I gave them a try because I was sick of driving around during a pandemic to get food near my hotel. But yuck. I moved on with my life. Wish I could get a refund.

I've been a customer for decades. Today, I was very disappointed. The almond chicken seemed burned. The chow mein was horrible, crispy noodles were oily, the shrimp was all batter, and the portions were small. It was great before the pandemic. After the pandemic, the quality and quantity have declined. We have a new favorite on Sprague and Freya that is our new go-to from now on.. Thanks for the many years, Ming Wah, but it's time to enjoy a new place.

Google
Currently take-out only. In foyer you can smell and hear the food cooking. Pre-ordered Deluxe Chow Mein, and Tofu and Beef with Vegetables, both generously portioned and delicious. Food was ready in 20 minutes. At home I added Sriracha for extra heat and was pleased with the freshness of the stir-fried vegetables. When indoor seating is available I will gladly join in.

Google
Ordered on NYE about 7p, I expected a little longer of a wait time, but it was only 25 mins. Ordering was a breeze. We substituted rice for noodles, one a couple of our dishes because they are that good. When I picked up the food, it was hot and filled to the brim. I was honest surprised by the pricing. It was a bit less than what I had anticipated, so that was nice as well. There is no longer dine in, so I can't speak to the atmosphere. Aside from the lovely lady that billed me and gave me our order, which was very cheerful. Regardless of where you like in Spokane, it's worth the drive!

We just recently found out Ming Wah is still open, we heard they had closed. We were so disappointed, because Ming Wah is our favorite! I found out a couple of days ago, they are indeed open for take out, I told my husband we have to order, and so we did. The food never disappoints, it was still really hot when we arrived home 15 minutes after picking it up, and it tasted just as good as I remember. I'm so happy they are still open! ☺️ We ordered our favorite, the Number 8 for two.

Yelp
I am excited to hear Ming Wah is open again. I tried a few times before Covid and they were not open. Their Sub Gum was always outstanding. Love their Egg Flower Soup, Fried Rice. I am looking forward to ordering this again. To go only is a bit of a bummer. I always enjoyed the owners and their employees at a table. Ming Wah is not in the best part of town. I am guessing letting peeps in 1 at a time may be a safety issue. But so worth it.

Dave C.

Yelp
They are carry out only, but well worth taking home. Tasty and well prepared, quick and friendly service.

Yelp
This place has amazing food and service! best Chinese in town amazing meal for a great price

Yelp
I've lived in Spokane for 35 years. Just moved back after 12 years in LA, and I can say hands down this is legit. I've ALWAYS loved their cantonese style chow mein. And yes, not everything on the GIANT menu is amazing. But if you find 3-4 things that are great just stick with it. Just this week I had the chow mein, sweet and sour chicken, and some rice. It brought back all the memories of why I love this place, and why I'm happy to be in Spokane again.

Yelp
The owners are so kind and service is fast. No dine in though - portion sizes are large and very hot. I highly recommend trying the almond chicken

Susanne Q.

Yelp
Best Chinese food in town! Number 8 is amazing! Their almond chicken is authentic with white sauce and almonds. The owners are a hard working family that have owned it for years. Unfortunately due to our city not cleaning up the area they no longer have dining inside. Only orders to go. Closed on Mondays.
google avatar

Yelp
Warning Warning Warning This is not the Ming Wah it used to be. Only one person allowed in the restaurant at a time! You must stand outside til it's empty! Then you can't eat there, they only have food to go. What could they be thinking??

Jeremiah W.

Yelp
Strange location for such good Chinese food, but very flavorful and friendly, quick service!

Yelp
We have been looking for an American Chinese food restaurant in the Spokane area since recently moving here. We had a great favorite one in our old city. We loved the clean tasting food we always got there. So in our quest we came upon Ming Wah. Says it's the oldest Chinese restaurant in town. We figured that was a good sign that it was still around. Mixed reviews got us wondering what we would get. We called and they have pick up only. So we decided to give them a try. Ordering was great. They got everything correct. Pick up was a bit odd as they act like the pandemic is in full swing. Can't come in till order us up, one at a time, designated in and out doors. Oh my! On to the food...bbq pork was dry and discolored. Dark brown areas. (I was afraid to eat the brown ones). Wonton soup was good. Pork sub gum chow mein was yummy. But not a fan of the large Chrissy chow mein noodles. ( they were very hard). I like the normal size ones. Fried rice was good. I like that it didn't have all the carrots and peas that everywhere adds now. (When did that become a thing?). Lemon chicken was good also. Mostly it was a good meal. We will have to try it again to decide if this is our new go to Chinese place. We are still on the look out. Forgot to snap photos...next time

Yelp
Great food and service. They are alwayd friendly and kind. Food is always hot and it comes out quickly

Yelp
It's such a bummer when you find an amazing Chinese restaurant and realize you'll only ever have it when you are traveling through a city. Ming Wah was one of those places. Great food, incredible flavors and left us wanting to totally explore the full menu. Ming Wah has been around for a really long time, apparently, and is one of those places deserving of its reputation and long-standing clientele. The rice chicken and chicken sesame were amazing!!!

Dan F.

Yelp
Used to be my go to. Since covid closure of dine in they have gone down hill. Yesterday I had general's chicken so bad it went into the garbage. Never again goodbye ming.

Tim L.

Yelp
Great food. Great people. Serving Spokane for 40 years. A standard for our family. I recommend it highly!!

Yelp
All and all the food is good and the quantity is a plenty BUT I ordered moo shu pork and it came with for old ripped pancakes it is very maddening that they obviously noticed before giving them to me .... Not to return ........

Yelp
In all these visits I cannot believe I've never reviewed this place!! Been coming here since the early 90's and not much has changed. Food is always fresh, hot, and delicious. This is definitely Americanized Chinese food but I love every dish I've ever eaten here. Definite favorites are the house special chow mein and the cashew chicken ding. This is not haute cuisine or fine dining but it's great prices and and amazingly friendly staff. Happy to give the full five stars!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Came to dine in on a Tuesday evening around 6:30 and this place was bumping!!! About 3/4 of the tables inside were full and they were cranking out to go orders like crazy! Regardless, the food came out super quick and our water glasses were frequently filled. Really delicious egg drop soup!!! The pork fried rice and chicken dishes were pretty good. I could have passed on the chow mein-lacked flavor for me. Otherwise if you're into solid sub par Chinese food, this is your spot. Oh and the portions were pretty big! Could have definitely shared one dinner combo with my husband and had plenty of food. Will definitely come back for my Chinese food cravings.
google avatar

Deborah M.

Yelp
Amazing Chinese probably would never have stopped just gotta get past the looks of the place!

Dan B.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would. The worst Chinese food I have eaten in my 60 years. Egg rolls were gummy and moo shu pork was obviously reheated several times. Take out only.
google avatar

Tom H.

Yelp
Ming Wah has become Ming Nah. They still do only take out and I suspect it is because they can serve you far inferior and lacking meals in small boxes and you don't realize you got ripped off till you got home. It was hot as hell inside the restaurant while I stood inside to order. Had to go wait in my car to get some A/C. They would not give me a small hot and sour soup and said they would only prepare large orders...but those are very expensive. The whole order was $25. 1 teriyaki chicken(box half full of cabbage) and a small (and very disappointing) pork fried rice. Hell to the no ever again.

Rick H.

Yelp
If you are not open for dine you should advertise that. Drive all the way from the Valley. Very disappointed. Won't be back.

CM C.

Yelp
The standard for American style Chinese in Spokane Don't waste your time driving up division just coke down to Ming wah pick a combo and you're so set.

Kimberly J.

Yelp
They would get 5 stars, except I use them through Grubhub, and it never fails that something goes wrong, or the restaurant cancels the order randomly or some other shenanigan's. The food is great when not soggy from delivery which is not their fault. It's the closest to authentic Chinese I've had in Spokane and the prices are actually reasonable. Most other Chinese places are outrageously high and don't taste as good as Ming Wah.
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
Circa 1960's/70's style americanized Chinese that you take can your mid-western grandparents to. Not horrible, not memorable, not expensive, and not good. It would probably be better late night if you were completely hammered. Soy has to go on everything for flavor. Egg Fu Yong gravy is a cross between library paste and....library paste with no flavor. Really can't come up with any redeeming qualities for this place. Hate to be harsh, but I've been so spoiled with delicious, fresh food at Vietnamese joints, that I just can't stomach places like this anymore. But the wife and kids like this rubbish, so I'm sure I'll be subjected to similar in the future...
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
Dated and dingy Chinese restaurant with sub-par Americanized Chinese food. I've eaten here several times with family and such. Always gives me a bad headache, so I assume the food is loaded with MSG. Service is not the best. Their chow mein is served with crunchy noodles? Very weird and not that appetizing. The food isn't *horrible*...It's edible but that's about it. I'd much rather just go somewhere else if i'm spending the money to eat out. Not much else to say. It seems dirty too like I mentioned originally. Steer clear of this place.
google avatar

Jason K.

Yelp
A spokane staple but Its pretty normal American Chinese style. Really nothing stands out about it besides the neon sign, probably the most greasy in the area. Order the egg rolls and you'll see the white bag wrapping turn clear.

Yelp
I've been trying to find the words for some time to describe the food from this establishment. Let me preface by saying I grew up eating at some of the finest Chinese restaurants in San Francisco and the Bay Area. I've even been to the questionable 'Chinese American' establishments that are neither here no there. Ming Wah was just plain AWFUL. It was the WORST food I have EVER eaten. Worse than the worst cafeteria slop. Worse than food at a church potluck that you aren't quite sure what it is. It's just BAD, and I think might be in business because of the cool neon sign and because guests have never had good or real Chinese cuisine. We ordered 'egg rolls'. Typically they are deep fried to a crisp with a thin shell and fresh hot vegetables and filling inside. These were...the size of burritos, the consistency of a chimichanga shell with stuff inside that I could not identify. The stuff that was supposed to be 'meat'... I couldn't even make out what it was. Disgusting. The fried rice contained the same meat...unrecognizable filler. The only (what I would call barely edible) food was a dish with water chestnuts that tasted canned. The final dish I tried was Chow Mein. Mom was confused when they asked us if we want the noodles crispy or regular. Huh? Did they mean like Yakisoba noodles...like how it should be made? We ended up getting the 1950s canned stuff that has dry, crunchy noodles...that. It tasted like it came from a can. They gave us a whole bag of them. What a waste of 50.00 some odd dollars. As we were leaving (got food to go) a woman came out of the back and said to a waiting guest in an authoritarian tone 'you...sit here!' Yeah...no thank you! Fair warning was given, don't make me say 'I told you!' LOL

Yelp
Huge portions, nice little place downtown, with solid service and food! Keep up the great job!!!

Yelp
Wow have things changed. Menu is far from the iconic Ming way. DO NOT TRY egg foo young. It's one of the grossest things I have ever tasted. Prices are way high now product is far below what was normal. Guess new owners
google avatar

Lana W.

Yelp
Everything pictured here is super good. I've been going to the same Chinese place for a super long time so I was a bit hesitant to come here today. But I'm so glad that I did!!! Everything tastes great! Good portions. Service is awesome!
google avatar

Joshua J.

Yelp
Great, old school, Americans Chinese food. Like going back in time. Service is super fast and the staff is attentive. Stand out dishes Any combo for sheer volume of food. Chicken Cashew Ding is spicy, low carb, and amazing.

Katie S.

Yelp
Was really excited for good food and was sorely disappointed! Had the Orange chicken and General Tsao's chicken and it was way over breaded and super stiff like they used too much corn flour. Will pick a different place next time.

Yelp
Was watching Mad Men and got nostalgic seeing them eating Ameri-Chinese food out of paper cartons. Was originally thinking of going to Gordy's, but they turned out to be closed - so on the way home ended up stopping by Ming Wah (place looked packed). Congratulations, Ming Wah, for winning the title of worst food I've eaten since moving to Spokane. I'm typically not so dramatic in my reviews, but this was bad bad food - it wasn't even the fake Ameri-Cantonese food I was expecting. They didn't even know how to make that. I asked the server if particular dishes would suit the tastes of someone ethnically Chinese. They lied to my face. Of course, this has happened before at other restaurants, but previously only on the phone for delivery Chinese. This was unforgivable. Please look at the above pictures for reference. Sesame chicken was completely wrong. Tiny specs of chicken heavily battered and fried in old oil. Atrocious. Mongolian beef was likewise wrong. Instead of slices of beef with green and white onion, they served me this corn-starch heavy glop in brown/black sauce. Meat was likewise miniscule and highly absent. It was more like vegetables in gloppy brown meat-flavored sauce. The mu-shu chicken (which I've NEVER had messed up elsewhere) came out entirely wrong as well. This was cabbage in gloppy chicken-flavored brown sauce. Every dish was wrong. It was highly disappointing. Like other reviewers, the mu-shu pancakes came out cold straight from the walk-in. Clearly a high profit margin operation where the diner suffers, and they depend on the clientele to be too stupid to know any better. On the bright side, I'll never feel guilty eating at P.F. Chang's again.

Yelp
Ming Wah is a pleasant little Chinese restaurant near downtown. The atmosphere, staff, and food is quite comforting. This small neon signed hut is located next to a busy railroad track. As a result, you are assured to hear and feel the hum of a locomotive. I'm am not sure if I am weird, but I find this reassuring. The small dining room is great for eavesdropping on your neighboring tables. The kitchen staff is often animated and communicates loudly in an Asian dialect. This is mixed in with the sounds of stir fry pans and deep fat fryers. It's lively. The staff is small. It seems to run by a single family. The daughter takes your drink order, the mother takes your meal order, and the father delivers your plated meal. Meanwhile, a young man cooks in the back. It's dynamic. I ordered one of the combination plates. It was great Chinese food. The sweet and sour pork was glistening crunchy and sweet. The almond chicken was was crisp and savory. The broccoli beef was perfect. Perhaps the best I have ever eaten. Some areas for improvement would be the fried rice, pot stickers, and crab won-tons. The fried rice was good, but it was overshadowed by the amazing entree selections. I wish the rice had more scallions, pork, and egg. It's a bit anemic. The hot deep fried appetizers were disappointing because they were a bit oily. In addition, the oil tasted a little overworked. Overall, I think this is a great little Chinese restaurant. There are some areas for improvement, but I enjoyed my meal a great deal.

Yelp
When you first walk in the door with in 30 sec a person will be seating you and getting you soup. Once you have decided on your food the service is super fast to get the food cooking. From order to eating it takes about 5 to 10 min.
google avatar

Areli A.

Yelp
This is literally the worst Chinese restaurant I have ever been to in my whole entire life. First of all I enter and the seats are ripped. Second of all, I find a hair in my food and they don't even give me a discount. Besides all that, You shouldn't eat there because the food isn't fresh (it's microwaved) and the quality is horrible. It's unreal how many high ratings this place has - it is horrible! Please do not eat here
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in here yesterday We are from outta town and a friend who lives here took us there The food was amazing. Service was great !! The egg rolls are the size of New Jersey Yes the place sets in a run down part of town and yes it's outdated But look over that and you will love it See pics We will for sure come back when in the area again !!

Jacqueline W.

Yelp
Such good Chinese whenever I don't feel good there food makes me feel better combo #2 with a small egg flower soup makes my day every time. I'm obsessed.

Angie C.

Yelp
Located in between Browne's Addition and downtown Spokane. Truly one of the greatest Chinese restaurants in Spokane. Portions are HUGE and reasonably priced. I ordered their Sweet and Sour Chicken and the chicken was nicely coated with their delicious sweet and savory sauce while the meat remained nice and crispy. The owners are also long-time residents and very kind. As of May 2022, they only do take out. Service is also incredibly quick. 5/5 !!

Cassandra C.

Yelp
Ming Wah is the best Chinese in Spokane. Hands down. Great eggrolls, good specials, good service!

Cori n.

Yelp
So good. Great staff and delightful owner. We will be making a once a week habit. Best noodles ever.

Yelp
My FAVORITE Chinese place in the world. I LOVE everything on the menu, and you get HUGE portions. the egg soup is so amazing so is the egg foo young. JUST YUM. Couldn't be owned by sweeter more charming people either! Ming Wah is a Spokane staple. I would be crushed if it ever goes away! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR AMAZING FOOD!
google avatar

Mariana S.

Yelp
Our favorite Chinese place to go to in Spokane..Their always so nice and friendly and the Almond chicken is yummy
google avatar

Rosa M.

Yelp
Consistently good Chinese food with generous portions. Only downfall is they don't have many sitting options for overweight people. The booths are comfortable but constricting if someone is obese. Other than that their pot stickers are great. But their egg rolls aren't.

M C.

Yelp
Vegetarian review: I wasn't blown-away by Ming Wah. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good, either. I had the vegetarian chow mien. It was served very quickly, but it was bland. There weren't many vegetarian or vegan options in the menu, either. There are better Chinese places in town like Red Dragon. I recommend you go there instead.

Yelp
This was my 2nd time coming to this place and I have never eaten at a better Chinese food place in my life. I have lived and traveled all around the U.S. and Ming Wah by far has the very best Chinese food I have ever eaten. I had the orange chicken while my girlfriend had General Tso chicken and because we love rice we added on a pint of white rice for an extra $4. Words can't explain how delicious their food is and how reasonable prices are for the portion sizes they give you. The owner was very attentive and enjoyed talking to his customers and ensuring that everything was correct with their meal and even though we only had water to drink we were still treated like first class customers. Definitely worth stopping by and eating I know my girlfriend and I will definitely be coming back!

Heidi O.

Yelp
Ming Wah is a small Mom and Pop on the far west end of the Downtown strip. Unassuming and Family oriented, this booth-and-table restaurant has a loyal clientele that keep coming back all week long. What's the draw you ask? San Fransisco Style Chinese. Creamy crispy Almond Chicken, Fried Prawn, Chow Mein, Barbeque Pork slices with lovely yellow mustard so spicy that it makes my eyeballs sweat. Sweet and Sour Pork is my thing. And that pork... tender little cuts on the inside, covered in tempura goodness and deep fried to a perfect poppy crispness on the outside. All smothered in sweet, thick, tangy redness. And I love the prices. Ming Wah is a great place!

Levi Y.

Yelp
Honestly could have been better. The food wasn't great. I got a four item combo and the only good thing was the fried rice. The sweet and sour chicken was OK, the almond chicken was not great, and the shrimp tempura came with regular cocktail sauce which I thought was a little weird. Also if you're going to milk covid and not be open for in person seating in June you should at least not forget to send utensils with to go orders. Price is on the high end. Can't say I'll be back

Yelp
The former Gung Ho is where I worked when I was in college. The food is superb and the wait staff is fast and friendly.

Mary P.

Yelp
Before now, I have had no reason to try other Chinese restaurant in Spokane and COVID made "to go" our only option. Until now, that has been acceptable, but, after Friday, I will be trying other places. It was very disappointing enough to get no sauce or its flavor on my dish, but that was topped off by the absence of that usual little pack of soy sauce to help out matters and no cookie. Seriously, not even a cookie? Seriously. That's pretty bad for an $18.00 dish that has always included both 'til now. My fortune tells me I will be trying a new restaurant next time. I think I'll check out the reviews, first.
