Old Kent Road Doesn’t Need a London Restaurant Industry Bailout | Eater London

"A Sierra Leonean bar known for standout, refined small dishes—most notably a silky gizzard preparation that surprised the writer—offering elevated West African flavours in a convivial setting." - Jonathan Nunn

Where to Eat in London This Weekend | London Restaurant Recommendations | Eater London

"An immersive introduction to Sierra Leonean (Salone) cooking where language and food converge: dishes arrive with bold textures and persistent heat that redefine expectations. Silky, lush gizzards deliver a lingering spice; leaves such as cassava, potato and crain crain and okra reduced to a sticky, flavorful mucilage showcase uncommon sweetness and depth; and the signature binch (beans) is gloriously soft and rich — so profound in texture that it can be enjoyed on its own. The dining experience is as much a lesson in flavour and culture as it is a meal." - Feroz Gajia

Been ordering from this rearurant since last year from uber eats. I’ve noticed their portions are getting smaller. Just ordered two different dishes. Disappointed to have received half a bowl of soup (small size take away). Prices have gone up slightly, i guess cost of living etc but don’t increase prices and reduce portions. Also noticed not much protein in soups these days. Green stuff at the bottom is the soup. The top is oil. Forgot to take a picture of the other dish. Decided to give this resturant another try. Ordered foofoo and okra. Again very small portion, full of bones. Foofoo was cold. Stale. Called resturant person on the phone stated she has no control, apparently that’s how the food is portioned when cooked. Makes one wonder how long might have been in fridge/freezer. Defo not worth the price.

I'm Nigerian and had never tried Sierra Leonean food before until a friend told me about Mingles. I ordered their cassava soup with rice yesterday, and it was so tasty that I went back today and got two more portions. I’m now hooked on this dish! The staff were also really friendly, and the service was great. I highly recommend it!

Firstly, the quality of the food I received was extremely poor. The meal lacked freshness and flavor, I ordered jollof rice and stew chicken. The jollof tasted old and greasy like it was days old rice being reheated. There was no stew chicken. Literally fried chicken with sauce in a small container very disappointing …it tasted like it was in the fridge for days and overheated in the microwave. My husband ordered Crain Crain with fufu. The Waitress bought the Crain Crain with rice. When he corrected her she bought the fufu which was so hard in the middle he stuck his fork through it. She replaced it and it tased off. Earlier I saw the “chef” walk to one of the fridges (wearing blue gloves…. Which for me is not good hygiene practice as you should remove your gloves when leaving the kitchen especially as I saw you touching the handrail. Not sure if you even changed your gloves) which could explain why the food tasted like it had been in the fridge for far too long. I expect when coming to a restaurant to have fresh flavoured food. The food did not meet the standard I have come to expect from here. It was a thoroughly disappointing dining experience. Literally put a damper on our anniversary lunch. Secondly, the customer service was unsatisfactory. I found the staff to be unhelpful. when I tried to raise concerns about my order about my meal tasting horrible she took the plate away and dismissed me. This lack of courtesy and professionalism added to the overall frustration of the experience. Most concerning, however, is that I was charged for a meal that I did not eat. When I mentioned to her that I did not eat the meal I was being charged for she mentioned she could not take it off the bill. After going back and forth she called her manager and the finally removed it from the billI. I hope you take this feedback seriously and take steps to improve both your food quality and customer service.

I took my son there we had such a great time eating authentic Sierra Leone cuisine. My son told me I should write a shining 5 star review and I absolutely agree. My son ordered his favourite cassava leaves and I ordered the pepper soup both with rice and both cooked perfectly. So much flavour reminds me of my mums cooking. Loved it will definitely go back, highly recommend.

OMG! The food is super delicious, my favourite is the palm oil cassava leaf it reminds me of home Freetown, Sierra Leone. The food was cooked to perfection, I enjoyed it so much. A very special thank you to the chef and the entire staff at Mingles, please keep up the outstanding job.

We had a large group of about 25 so we were in one of their private rooms. The customer service was fantastic as our server was very friendly, patient and happy to help with all our orders. The food portions are amazing! I had to take home part of my starter and main which I rarely I ever do when eating out. Finally, the price was REALLY affordable and I would definitely visit again!
