12 Hottest Cocktail Spots Around Atlanta Right Now

"One of the trendiest places to eat and drink right now is at Atlanta’s own soju distillery in Doraville, Minhwa Spirits, by James Kim and Ming Han Chung. Minhwa makes its own soju, a Korean spirit made with rice, much like an earthier vodka, and boy, does it make good cocktails. The Strawberry Fields cocktail is a must, made with strawberry, white peach tea, and basil foam, topped with an edible flower. It’s balanced and not too sweet, with the basil offering plenty of fresh aromatics. — Henna Bakshi" - Allison Ramirez, Henna Bakshi

"One of the trendiest places to eat and drink right now is at Atlanta’s own soju distillery in Doraville, Minhwa Spirits, by James Kim and Ming Han Chung. It houses a Korean food pop-up Ganji, by chefs Jess Kim and Jun Park, and Postern Coffee. The vibrant purple rice bowl with fried chicken, kimchi slaw, potato salad, egg, spinach, and radishes is a must-get here. Minhwa Spirits: A Refreshing Asian distillery for Soju and Gin Minhwa Spirits is making a splash as Georgia's first Asian-owned distillery, and it's definitely a place worth checking out. This exciting new spot offers a unique experience, blending expertly crafted spirits with delicious Korean-inspired food and specialty coffee. The distillery itself is a clean and inviting space, with a modern yet welcoming atmosphere. While indoor seating is somewhat limited, they offer ample outdoor seating, making it a great spot to enjoy a drink and a bite, especially on a pleasant day. Parking is plentiful, which is always a plus. If you're lucky, you might even catch James, the owner, there. His passion and vision for Minhwa are evident, and it adds a personal touch to the experience. During our visit, we started with the Coconut Ube Coffee from Postern Coffee, and it was absolutely fantastic! The creamy coconut and the subtle sweetness of the ube created a harmonious and delightful beverage. We also sampled several of their cocktails, and two stood out from the crowd. The Strawberry Fields, with its soju base, was refreshing and bursting with fruity flavors. The Bokbunja Bramble, crafted with gin, offered a more complex and tart profile, showcasing the versatility of their spirits. It's clear that Minhwa's bartenders are skilled and creative. The food from Ganji Korean pop-up was equally impressive. While we didn't get specific dishes, the fact that they've partnered with such a promising pop-up speaks to their commitment to offering a high-quality and authentic experience. The staff at Minhwa Spirits were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive vibe. It's clear they're passionate about what they do and eager to share their knowledge of the spirits and menu. Overall, Minhwa Spirits has done an incredible job creating a unique and welcoming space. They've successfully combined high-quality spirits, delicious food, and a relaxed atmosphere. Whether you're a cocktail enthusiast, a foodie, or simply looking for a new spot to hang out, Minhwa Spirits is definitely worth a visit. We will certainly be back for more!

A hidden gem in Doraville! Minhwa makes their own soju and rice wine based on an old family recipe with minimal ingredients. They also have their own gin which might be the best gin I’ve ever had - and I’m not even usually a gin person! Their cocktails are excellent - all super balanced and not too sweet, and so beautiful! They also serve delicious Korean fusion food and the interior space is gorgeous. There’s a large outdoor space that’s perfect for hanging out when the weather is nice. Will be back again!

We ordered the purple rice bowl with chicken bites and the Shin Fries. The chicken bites were good but nothing exceptional. I really wanted to love the rice bowl, but the potato salad tasted a bit like spoiled dairy? Or maybe there’s Feta cheese in the potato salad. I like the concept of this fusion bibimbap but the overall taste is too sweet for me. The Shin fries are crispy but the ramen seasoning isn’t coming through besides being extra salty. The vibe was good tho.

Great experience. You can sample the spirits, or if you don't drink alcohol, there are tasty zero proof options as well. We ate all the delicious things, including burrata salad, Ganji burger, Colonel Kim’s KFC sando, goguma mandu (melt-in-your-mouth sweet potato dumplings), and tiramisu mille-feuille. Thoughtful presentation and friendly service. All enjoyed in a lovely, comfortable space with lots of cool art and plenty of free (and stress-free) parking.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first experience at Minhwa. The drinks were perfect, the food was excellent, and service was friendly and prompt! All of the things you look for in a restaurant. However, what makes this restaurant stand out from the others (besides the delicious food and drinks) is the comfortable, friendly environment. Everyone is genuinely nice. Oh! They also have the BEST birria tacos I’ve had in Atlanta. I have been all over the greater Atlanta area for amazing birria tacos. Finally found them!

Checked out Minhwa Spirits on a sunny Saturday afternoon. We opted to sit outside to enjoy the weather and I’m glad we did because we had a nice view their amazing mural on the side of the building. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with a bulgogi patty, my wife got the breakfast burrito, and we shared the burrata salad. Luckily we also went with close friends that share food so we could try everything. They got the Ganji burger, Colonel Kim’s KFC sando, and shin fries. Everything was very tasty and the portions are generous. We also ordered a couple Julias, which is their take on a Bloody Mary made with soju and kimchi juice. Our friends had some of the other beautiful gin and soju cocktails. Lastly, we topped it off with a round of the makgeolli. All the drinks were 10/10. Service was top notch as well. I think everyone that was working had stopped by our table at some point during our meal. Add this to your list right away. Don’t miss this place!

Great food and drinks with a chill atmosphere. Christmas decorations were lovely! The pork belly bahn mi, the arancinis, and the persimmons and burrata salad were all delicious! Excellent drinks. Potentially dangerous how smooth the soju was in the mule and their Bloody Mary variant! The basil foam on the strawberry fields cocktail was a great texture flavor to balance the drink which wasn’t too sweet. Tried the zero proof lavender tea as well which was worth commenting that the lavender was the perfect amount: floral but not enough to make you feel like you’re drinking soap. It’s remarkable how EVERYTHING was at such a high level! I will definitely be back!
