Mio Oh Mio

Food was perfectly cooked and the service great. The menu standouts were the beef tartare, Guinness Bread, and bread pudding (which came in a delicious pool of cream)! We were hoping for more protein options to pick from, but happy we got both the cod and pork chop to share. The music was strange to be honest and didn’t feel like it suited the cozy intimate atmosphere. Because the restaurant is small, most tables sat 2-4 max, so ideal for a date night. We went on a weekday without a game, so parking was super easy. The entrance of the restaurant is actually on King, not Occidental, but King street requires stairs. For an accessible entrance, you have to enter on Occidental and walk thru the brewery.

My visit to My Oh My (Mio Oh Mio)—the new restaurant from acclaimed chef Renee Erickson in Pioneer Square—was unforgettable. We ordered the black cod, squash, beef tartare, and oysters, and every dish tasted phenomenal. The saffron sauce on the black cod put it over the top in the best way. If you haven’t visited this lovely spot yet, you really should—especially to taste some of Seattle’s best new food. Will I be back? 100% absolutely. 

I went to Mio oh Mio with a friend who was well acquainted with this new restaurant. What a treat it was! We sat at a beautifully crafted table for two in MARBLE! And we were quickly greeted by our waiter. I am a retired wine steward and much to my delight there were two ounce pours of most of the wine list!😲 I lean toward white wine for various reasons. I tried numerous wine choices with the glorious 2oz pours and loved them all, but esp the Austrian rose! But I digress. The food! Oh my the mussels were served as an open face sandwich!😲 The tart preparation with vegetables was spectacular! Everything was so well balanced. And I think that was my theme of the meal, BALANCE! The cod melted in my mouth, yes but the sides!😲 Let’s start with the salad, again balance was the key. Stilton was used in the dressing but you wouldn’t taste its pronounced flavor. You would just know that the dressing and greens were in perfect balance with the dressing. Then the potatoes! If you are a potato freak like me, this was perfection! The potatoes were presented in layers and again melted in my mouth! I am delighted with this new restaurant in Pioneer Square and can’t wait to go again!

Amazing spot for a date night! The Railspur building has really unique architecture and a very "Old Seattle" vibe. Food was delicious and the wine selection was great. Friendly service too. Pioneer Square is attracting all the best new restaurants in Seattle.

The food was fine, but the experience was ruined by deceptive pricing. No one wants to be surprised with a service charge, and no customer is ever happy about it. We were hit with a 25% service fee that was not clearly disclosed upfront - and then still asked to tip on top of that. This is a deceptive practice. If labor costs need to be covered, be transparent and price it into the menu instead of surprising customers at the end. Especially when minimum wage is already close to $25/hour, pushing this onto guests feels dishonest.
