20 Spots In Jersey City & Hoboken Open For Indoor Dining Today - New York - The Infatuation

"If you didn’t make it to this American spot in the 10 weeks or so that it was open before the shutdown, go try an oyster mushroom po’ boy or quail and waffle with venison sausage on their outdoor patio. You can also get a table inside for brunch or dinner, or make a reservation for their attic bar, where they offer tickets for 90-minute cocktail tastings in a space that looks like a church’s library." - matt tervooren

Part of the problem might be that it is New Year's Day and they seemed short staffed from the moment we walked in. The restaurant was 1/4 full. The Biscuits and Gravy were promptly announced as not available. Let's check the menu: Home made Herb Biscuits, Italian Sausage, Gravy and Eggs. Everything has eggs... The Eggs Benedict have eggs and biscuits so we are narrowing in on the problem. Must be the Gravy they did not make, and that is the hardest part. Really? Fat, Flour, S/P, sausage, pretty much done. Next all the food was cold when it was brought to the table. The Eggs were 30 seconds shy of being done perfectly. The sauce was cold. The potatoes cold. Totally disappointing.

Customer Beware! We were overcharged by 189 percent on a tip !! I had a fun girls night here a couple of weeks ago as a belated happy birthday for a friend. We loved the Christmas decor, we were able to snag some seats without reservations. The drinks were great and the bartender that served us at the bar was friendly . The food was ok and overall, we had a great time… Days later, my friend saw her bank statement, and there was a huge discrepancy. A bill of $150.34 (before tip, which we tipped 20 percent on), somehow became a 189 percent tip. An astounding, inflated total of a $434.68 charge! Luckily I still had the picture from when the 3 of us split the bill, and I must add none of us were that drunk to make that kind of mistake . It was a Thursday night and we all had work the next day. Franklin Social was one of my favorite neighborhood bars in the area, as well as Junto. I highly recommended this place to any of my friends for years. I was also very happy to see that they recovered after that devastating fire. As someone that manages a small business in the area with my partner, I’m genuinely rooting for this business to thrive. However, the way this matter is being handled at the moment, does not entice me to ever go back. I’m all for fairness that they keep the charge for the bill and the 20 percent tip. I hope they do the right thing to my friend. Until then I’m leaving the pictures from that night and judge for yourself . If it was an honest mistake ? It happens. There’s protocol that could have prevented this quite large oversight. But when the restaurant claims the customer made that tip for the charge when they didn’t ? I think the public should be aware to take precautions in the future if this instance happens to them.

I visited this holiday-themed bar recently, and while it was a great idea for the season, the experience was a bit of a mixed bag. The Atmosphere & Drinks: The bar itself looked festive, and I loved that the drinks came in cute, themed mugs-it really added to the holiday vibe! However, the drink selection was lacking, especially for mocktails. A major letdown was when my friend ordered a mocktail and it was served in a basic, plain glass. In a themed pop-up, it's the little things that matter, and it felt out of touch with the experience. Though they did swap it for a mug when I asked, it shouldn't have been an issue to begin with.

Google
The place barely had any people on a Friday night and it does make sense. The fries came out cold, must’ve gave us the one that had been sitting out for a while so we had to get it reheated. Honestly, first time being served cold fries like what clownery🤡🤡Also we were trying to order and the waiter was staring at the wall for a hot while lmao? And then we were trying to get his attention waving our hand, clearly visible mind you, but he was not seeing it. Again, barely anyone there at the restaurant. Anyway, food itself was alright. The pork chop was tender albeit salty. Went well with the cider though.

Google
Miracle on Mercer at Franklin Social was such a fun experience! The Coconut Hot Chocolate was rich, creamy, and perfectly cozy—definitely a must-try. The Chili Rock Shrimp was packed with flavor and had just the right amount of heat. Great atmosphere, festive vibes, and delicious food made this a spot I’d happily visit again.

Google
Miracle on Mercer @ Franklin Social was really cute. Franklin Social is great at cocktails; I’ve never had a drink there that I didn’t love. However, their food menu is inconsistent. Was not super impressed with the Sticky Tofu which seemed both out of place compared to the rest of their menu, and not as refined as their other offerings. Loved the whole holiday menu and all of the decor, though!

Google
Lovely bar and restaurant. It’s a large dining space for Jersey City. There’s trivia nights during the week. The cocktails are delicious and so refreshing. I love the Frontier Briar, it tastes so fresh and summer-y. My favorite dish was the sticky tofu, the texture is absolute perfection, so crunchy with caramelized sugar on the outside but so soft and well seasoned inside. The ginger sauce was the perfect blend. Vibes were good and so is decor. We got several appetizers including the burrata and loved them.

Google
Interaction I observed: Bartender: You girls like house? Girls: what? Bartender: you like house music? Girl1: uh, yeah! girl 2: mmmm Bartender: I'm a house DJ! you should follow me on Instagram! Girl 2:ok Bartender: you girls want anything else? girl 2: we're good

Yelp
I've been a few times now and the food is consistently delicious. The menu has some really unique options--definitely not your average bar bites. The blueberry BBQ duck wings are insanely good (sweet, smoky, and tender), and the lemon ricotta toast is light, creamy, and super flavorful. They also have great weekday deals, which makes it easy to swing by without breaking the bank. It's a perfect spot for a fun girls' night out--good vibes, tasty cocktails, and a menu that keeps things interesting. My only downside is service can be a little slow sometimes. I haven't tried their brunch yet, but it's definitely on my list!

Yelp
We've made it a tradition to hit up their holiday-themed 'Miracle on Mercer' since moving to Jersey City a few years ago. Usually, we head there for brunch. But, this year we decided to give their dinner menu a try. We were kind of disappointed in the experience. There was a rowdy crowd up at the bar and it took a while for anyone to even come seat us. The place itself seemed pretty empty once you got past the crowd, but the service was still pretty slow. We ordered everything at once and our cocktails didn't arrive until after we'd finished our appetizer. We didn't bother ordering a second round or even a dessert, because everything was taking so long despite all the tables around us being empty. The prices were just too high for what we got out of the experience. So, if we go again next year, I think we'll stick to brunch. If I could offer them one piece of advice, I'd recommend they update their menu. I'm pretty sure 99% of it has been the same every year.

Yelp
One of the best meals I have ever had! Incredible! Absolutely delicious. Ambiance and friendly waitstaff was a huge plus! Definitely recommend.

Yelp
The drinks were very very good, albeit expensive. The atmosphere was cute. The food and service were just ok. Nice at Christmastime!

Yelp
We got the truffle mushroom pasta and it tasted pretty bad, truffle fries were okay, and the fried pickles were bad. The cocktails were also okay - not the best.

Yelp
Big fan of Franklin social! Their food is good and I like the service! Also really love that they have a private space in the back for an event.

Yelp
We happened to stop by Franklin Social during their soft re-opening (so we got a 50% discount without even realizing it, yay!). As walk-ins, we were given the option for bar or patio seating, which we opted for bar. Throughout our dinner, there were empty tables inside though, so unfortunate that we weren't able to get a table if we left by the next seating. Anyways, we started off with some drinks and I had the Nerdy Bartender Things ($15). This was a more fruity drink even though it was made with whiskey, so refreshing. As a starter, we shared the Fried Chicken Lollipops ($16). They come with two huge and juicy chicken legs drizzled by a sweet honey. For the main entree, I ordered the Creamy Shrimp Carbonara ($29). It came with two huge prawns along with pieces of shrimp mixed into the pasta. It reminded me more of a sesame noodle rather than carbonara though. I had also asked what type of pasta this dish came with and the waitress said a bucatini, but it was actually more of a fettuccini. While the dish was still tasty, it wasn't what I was expecting at all from the description. Overall, nice dinner spot with pretty good food. It can be on the pricier end at its original price though. It's a cute spot with a nice rustic feel though and the back patio looks quite cozy with heat lamps.

Yelp
This was such a great happy hour deal. $10 cocktails, and the spot was really spacious yet cozy on a Friday evening. All our apps were basically fried so I surely didn't come here for the health, but they had great texture & flavor. I was honestly shocked at how many pickles and shishito peppers they gave us - I was expecting so much less. But these were so good.

Yelp
Tried this place for the third time hoping we had gotten it wrong the first two and only got met with the same experience. Management needs to step up because there were only two waiters working on a saturday afternoon with big pull on their Christmas decor (which was cute to be fair). If your waiters are swamped maybe slow seating tables and do something other than filling water cups? We waited an hour for a burger and steak and eggs and didn't even get our drinks until after we finished our meals. Our waiter was trying his best and I commend him, but overall just a terrible experience with no compensation (usually when this happens you at least get your drinks taken off the bill). Food was good but definitely not worth the wait, sadly won't be returning. Go to Buddy's for brunch instead, you'll save money AND get a better experience.

Ricky M.

Yelp
Waitress was having a bad day. Food was cold. Setting was nice but the food was slow and expected better, being here for the first time!

Yelp
Offers a warm cozy feel to an American tavern, where the theme is on Benjamin Franklin. Fun and simple rustic bar with a complimentary cuisine and craft cocktails. Good for brunch or even a date night. Service is always spot on and food is well prepared and presented. Sunday brunch offers live music between 12 - 3. What a treat!!
google avatar

Yelp
The ambiance of this place is so cozy. Great for date night! The service was ok. I feel we should have been checked on more while there were times we were waiting to order more food and another time waiting for a drink. After ordering a drink, it did take a while. Besides that! The food... superb! Oh em gee! We ordered the tuna tartare and kielbasa... both were amazingly delicious. The brussel sprouts were nice and crispy, and the sauce was devine! My sister then ordered the burratta, which she devoured, and I forgot to take a pic. I didn't chance eating it as burratta is a bit harsh for me right now. But I did get the fig toast with goat cheese, and that was worth it!! Oh man, that was so good. I'd go back just for that! The bill was pricey for me, but it was a place with great food.

Yelp
The Christmas vibe inside is so cute and puts you in the holiday mood! A great place to go for some drinks in Jersey city during the holidays and the food looked good too even though we didn't get anything.

Yelp
Ambience : Franklin social has a very cost entrance that opens to a quaint and cozy room with elegant tapestry. Service: We placed an order and it took a good hour to receive the starters . We ordered their merlot wine and the server struggled to open it , and once it was served , we ended up receiving chunks of the cork in the glass . Quite unpleasant, they had to open a new bottle instead. They ended up giving us a round of drinks and dessert in the house , but I think my experience was already quite impacted by the hour long wait. Food The cauliflower was extremely crispy , well cooked but sadly the salt flakes weren't mixed properly and each bite was either under or over salted . The fries were good , glad they nailed the standard The mushroom burger was abysmal. The bun was definitely old. It did not taste fresh . The burger was just some arugula, a piece or two of caramelized onion, some other greens and a large mushroom head, It lacked flavor, left you wanting for more and I was truly disappointed The duck looked delicious, but was a little more chewy than we would have liked. In addition to the drinks , they also provided us with a crème brûlée since they wanted to make up for the poor service , which I super appreciate. The creme brûlée , I expected the top to crackle as I tapped on the top sugar coated layer , but that didn't happen . The brûlée itself was a little grainy and honestly I expected a smooth silky dessert and was quite disappointed . The saving grace were the cocktails , they were absolutely amazing. Highly recommend grabbing drinks at this establishment but would not plan on having my next meal here .

Yelp
I loved Franklin Social! It is a part of the Skopos Restaurant Group. I have tried all of the Skopos restaurants (I love them all!) and had Franklin Social on my list to check out. I was so happy that I finally made it there as it lived up to my expectations. It is the perfect place for brunch! There was a wide range of menu options for food and there were brunch beverages in addition to the regular drinks that are available throughout the day. Everything my friends and I had was absolutely spot on and I highly recommend checking it out! I also look forward to their speakeasy-like restaurant next door/upstairs called The Attic. If the cocktails are as delicious as those at Franklin Social, I know I will be in for a treat!

Yelp
I enjoyed my brunch here way more then I was anticipating I would. We started with a round of mocktails which the bartender did a great job creating for us with only a description of "something refreshing" as a guide. The burger looked good, I enjoyed my bite of the Shrimp Po Boy sandwich and was completely full and unable to finish the scramble plate, there must have been a dozen eggs in the dish! For dessert the churros were better than the bread pudding, although both are served with an insanely yummy caramel sauce.

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday night with reservations. We were seated immediately. The place itself is cozy and a great spot for date nights. They also had outdoor seating available. We started the night with some drinks and then proceeded with our entrees.. my husband got the fish and chips and I got the roast chicken. While I was stuffed after my meal I can see how the portion size might be tiny for some people especially if you come with a good appetite. The food overall was good and the roast chicken is gluten free so that's an added plus. Hopefully in the future they'll have more gluten free options on their menu.

Giovanni P.

Yelp
The food came out and the ravioli was cold in the middle and warm on the sides. Was definitely microwaved. I also ordered the steak frites Medium and it came out rare. The sticky tofu was dry and inedible.

Annie H.

Yelp
Love this spot! Great food, great vibe. My husband and I go every Monday night for mocktails and trivia. The black bean burger, Brussels, and strawberry salad with chicken are our go-tos!

Isabella C.

Yelp
Was looking forward to coming to this place for awhile and unfortunately were only able to have one drink before leaving. Service was not good, server did not approach our table until we called him over after 20 minutes and took 15 minutes to get our drinks. Seemed like he was annoyed with us asking to be served. Unfortunate experience hope they resolve this issue.

Yelp
Came here for another happy hour. This time on a Tuesday. It was taco tuesday! $4 tacos is a good deal. Usually here they are 3 for $16. At first I ordered 2 chicken and 1 fish. My friend got the fish too and our portions were not the same. My fish was very small compared to hers. I noticed the scoops of chicken were inconsistent as well. Since they were on the small side I ordered a brisket one. That was huge! They put a ton of brisket on it. Maybe because it was the only one on the plate? Anyway, it's the luck of the draw. Wish the portions were consistently plentiful! The $8 margarita they had on Tuesday was good too. Not too much sour mix in it, it tasted like, so my friend really liked it. Overall it was a good deal and we got to sit outside. There are only a few places that have happy hour now until 7 and this place does!
google avatar

Jason P.

Yelp
Spontaneously went for brunch on a Saturday, and overall good experience. Our group got the French toast, grilled chicken sandwich, quinoa salad and chicken lollipops. Food was enjoyable, the servers were really nice and friendly, but the speed of the experience was at a glacier pace so just make sure you have a solid 2.5-3 hour window for brunch. All in all - I'd go back again!
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
Went to check Franklin Social out for the first time last weekend and had a fantastic experience. I love the vibe and the food was delicious! Highly recommend to check this spot out if you're in downtown Jersey area.

Yelp
I came here with a group of my girl friends for the holiday pop up last Friday and we had reservations for 10:30PM. We arrived on time and were told that the kitchen was closing very soon so we should order rite away. We had just eaten at Cellar 335 and figured we would grab dessert here and the only option was the chocolate chip marshmallow cookies so we ordered two for the table. They arrived hot and with a single marshmallow on top, just ok in my opinion. The decor here was very cute and Christmas themed. I loved all the festive cups and the fact that you were able to purchase them as well. I really love the attention to detail they had for all the items we ordered. I would like to come back and try to have a dining experience and not just drinks. Overall I felt the drinks were not that great but I was there for the experience of the holiday pop up so I guess I got it.
google avatar

Rose C.

Yelp
Franklin Social was one of the places that I heard was doing a Christmas pop-up, so I decided to stop by since I was already in the area last night. I went by myself, so I sat at the bar. Even though it was a monday night, it was pretty packed inside. It seems to be popular & it is an intimate restaurant so if you're going with a party 2 or more I would do a reservation. The bar area was a little cramped, especially with all the Christmas decorations and garnishes for the drinks surrounding the area. For my cocktail, I got the marshmallows & and unicorn, which was very tasty and came with a punch. To eat, I ordered the short rib ragu. The short rib was seasoned to perfection. They were generous with the ricotta, which I loved, and it had some pepper flakes on top, which gave it a little kick. I just wish the tomato sauce was a bit richer, but overall, it was amazing. My meal was brought to me immediately, and the bartender cleared my plate really quickly once i was done. I would love to come back outside of their Christmas pop up and try other food and cocktail items.

Yelp
I want to start by saying, I am infamous for my stress of ambience. This place has an excellent happy hour, and it's nice and quiet. It's beautiful and rustic. Let's get to the point though. The food is just plain not good. The fried pickles were normal, nothing *special* but good! If you're going to hit a happy hour and have cocktails and an app; GO! However if you're going because you want food and service, this probably isn't the place for you. It wasn't very busy and our food seemed to take a long time, the burger had not much flavor, and barely any fries The Mediterranean platter looks fancy, but there's no flavor to back it up. Kitchen, please! Don't be afraid to add some seasoning. I am giving this place a 3; and not a 2, because I know some of us just need a quick meet up spot for things. That's the only thing I would suggest this place for. I hope to visit again, and change this star rating up, because it's blooming with potential.

Yelp
We called a few days prior to see if their bottomless brunch was still apart of their menu. Confirmed that it was and was excited to try this place pout with our friends. Unfortunately they removed it from menu and told us a bogus lie about the state mandating restaurants in Jersey City to stop bottomless mimosas. This is news to us. Asked if they would honor the bottomless since we made reservations and was explicitly told that it was still available. They wouldn't budge. Service was terrible. Reservations was made and we were made to wait 45 minutes because the previous guests did not leave. Instead of accommodating us or allowing us to seat at the bar(even after asking) , we were just standing in the front. After10 minutes the manager came and asked if we could hang out by the bar until their patrons left. Food I can't complain about. It was good. The drinks were terrible. Bartender was making some fancy attempt to make regular mimosas. It made the drinks terrible. The glasses we got were small. Another party came and also ordered the mimosas, and their drinks were larger. They honored that parties bottomless mimosas. Kind of annoying. The dessert was good as well. Unfortunately this place gets one star due to the poor service, the poor communication and just overall experience. It's sad cause this place has a lot of potential and a lot of previous reviews stated this place was the place to go due tot their ambiance. We did not get that experience. No intentions to come to this place again.

Yelp
Franklin Social in Jersey City: Love this place!!! Great cocktails and service. Fancy but friendly.
google avatar

Sharm S.

Yelp
Love this cute corner restaurant in Jersey City. Service was excellent and we had some delicious food including the fried pickles, truffle Mac n cheese, burrata and bbq brisket grilled cheese. The shared plate portions were very generous. They also send out Dottie's Chicken from there on uber eats and grub hub - fresh delish chicken sandwiches and curly fries. If you have a chance ask them about their secret in the attic. You won't be disappointed! Open now with safety measures in place. Please support your local businesses!

Yelp
This place was super cute. We got there on the later end for brunch so we missed the brunch menu and had to order dinner. Dinner was delicious but I really wish we could've tried the brunch menu. The vibe was super cute and the live music was a vibe. I think it's a nice place to go with family/friends on a Saturday or Sunday. I wouldn't mind going back!
google avatar

Amanda C.

Yelp
There's nothing like getting into the swing of the holiday season by going into a cozy Christmas themed bar. I came on a Wednesday night with reservations for a 8:45 timeslot. I guess this place is so cute and popular that tables were backed up and I didn't get to sit until half an hour later. The staff were friendly though and made sure my party was ok and that we were taken care of while waiting. The special cocktails were probably on the weaker side, but were served in the cutest cups (which apparently you can purchase) and had the cutest names. My drink Grandma Got Run-over by a T-Rex did come I'm a dinosaur wearing a Christmas hat cup. However I wish the bar tender didn't sprinkle powdered sugar all over the cup itself because it made for a bit of a sticky experience while trying to handle the cup. Overall cute place to come for the holidays, but do expect to wait.

Yelp
Came in on Tuesday around 5:15pm for happy hour with some coworkers. They allow reservations on Resy for HH, which is awesome. Tuesdays is Taco Tuesdays, which means $9 margaritas and $4 tacos. They also run the regular happy hour drink and snack deals from 4-7pm. We had the fried pickles from the regular HH and the fig toast from the regular menu. Highly recommend them both. The Fig toast is a big portion, so very sharable. We also each got 2 tacos - I had 1 fish and 1 pork. The fish was definitely my favorite one. We also each had 4 drinks and the total bill came out to roughly $160, which wasn't bad at all. Service was super quick and very friendly. They were doing trivia that day so we played for a little bit. It's a bit of a confusing system for those of us that aren't used to trivia, but our waitress was super nice and explained it to us twice. It started filling up by the time we left around 7pm, so definitely plan to get there a bit earlier or make a reservation if you want to come during prime HH hours.

Yelp
Lovely spot on my corner. Outside dinning and inside. Very nice food. The selection of drinks is great. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Looking forward to more visits here. Prices were reasonable as well. The really go all out for Christmas I hear so I'll be checking ghat out as well.

Yelp
Came for a happy hour which has $10 cocktails and a couple appetizer deals. Service and cocktails were both great! However the food looked better than it tasted. Would not recommend fondue or fries and chicken lollipop was just okay.. Overall great place for drinks but would pass on food next time!
google avatar

Ahiliya N.

Yelp
Came here for brunch with some friends and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it! We opted for the bottomless option, which was pretty cheap at $25 for 2 hours of bottomless mimosas, but you must order an entree. I ordered the Cobb Salad, which I really enjoyed. I didn't love the deviled eggs, but I thought everything else was nicely balanced, and the dressing was also delicious. The staff was amazing and attentive, never letting our glasses go below half full before getting a re-fill. I would definitely be back!

Yelp
This place rocks. It's one of my new fav restaurants in downtown JC. The restaurant is super cute and quaint and on Barrow st so it's not so busy when sitting outside but peaceful and quiet. The staff has all been very nice the last couple times I've came. The drinks are delicious! I recommend the Torchlight bc it has a spicy kick. :) I had the scallop, shrimp and bacon wrapped mango skewers the other night when dining here - delish! Love the fish tacos and the squash fries. Just make sure to get their tasty harissa spicy sauce on the side.

Yelp
I'm torn, because the drinks here are 5 star but the food is really meh. Great ambience and vibes and super cool decor - definitely a spot to bring friends who are into fancy cocktails and vibes

Yelp
Came here to hangout with some friends. The drinks are mediocre and the food was not that good. But it's a decent spot to hangout. The server was nice.

Yelp
Came in for dinner and was super disappointed. Number one the main course portions were the size of appetizer. Barely ANY food at all. I had the GALBI it was clearly pre cooked and just barely warmed up. Over maybe a teaspoon of watery mash potatoes. There were 4 of us and each one had same sad story. Service was barley 3 stars at most. We were there Saturday early evening and had to change orders for drinks twice because they didn't have them. Waitress had to comeback to tell us this and didn't know that from the start. Sad experience for a very high $ price. Cocktails were small but very good.

Yelp
My husband and I came here on a Thursday night, during the last week of restaurant week. We both wanted to order the skirt steak, but unfortunately they had run out of it for the day-- we were a little bummed, however, our dining experience was still stellar. The moment we stepped into Franklin Social, the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff instantly set the mood for a great dining experience. The appetizers were a delightful start to our meal--the Chili Rock Shrimp was a perfect blend of spiciness and succulence; and the creamy Burrata with fresh cherry tomatoes, baguette toasts, and proscuitto--left us craving for more. For my main, I got the the amazing Spring Sunflower Pasta. Truly the highlight of the night; it was a burst of deliciousness, with the perfectly-cooked juicy shrimp, bucatini pasta, and the sauce adding a lovely touch of flavor to the dish. My husband, who is a self-proclaimed "burger connoisseur", absolutely LOVED the Franklin Burger. He also added truffle parmesan fries on the side, which took the dish it to a whole new level. We finished off our meals with churros and tiramisu--both had just the perfect amount of sweetness to wrap up the night. Overall, Franklin Social is a must-visit if you want a delightful dining adventure. The chef's skills in creating such wonderful dishes and the great service provided by the staff (our server was Lucy) made our experience truly enjoyable. I highly recommend trying out Franklin Social to indulge in a delightful dining experience. My husband and I will be back for sure! We look forward to trying out the other dishes, like their skirt steak.

Yelp
Had a great time at franklin social during their trivia night. Wish the trivia was a little later, at 7, instead of 6 since it's on a tuesday and it's hard to get out of work earlier. Overall had fun and the food was great! Mac and cheese was bomb!!! The only complaint I had was their creme brulee which was a little liquidy.

Yelp
I stopped by Franklin Social with a friend on 10/26/24, after we made reservations immediately after we heard about the soft reopening via social media. We were very excited, and upon entry we were greeted by two friendly hostesses. Seated very promptly and then things started to take a turn quickly. We ordered our cocktails from the menu which were very tasty. It took sometime to receive the drinks but figured it's ok, it's a soft opening, maybe there's sometime for improvement. Keep in mind the restaurant was also half empty and we noticed there were 5 people behind the bar. This isn't something you normally see in Jersey City or anywhere, but ok keep it moving. After we received our cocktails, 20 minutes went by prior to our waiter coming back for our appetizer and entrée orders. We told ourselves maybe the waiter is new, all good. We couldn't comprehend the delay when again the restaurant is half empty, 2 managers just standing around like statues. If you notice your staff is busy or needs help, why don't you step up?? Normally anyone else would step in to ensure a smooth dining experience during a reopening timeframe especially! For apps with ordered the chili rock shrimp which was tasty!! and the harvest salad. After receiving our apps, no one checked in to make sure the food is good, or would you like to order more cocktails. just common courtesy. Another 20 minutes later, our entrées arrive, and still no one has offered a reorder of drinks, how was your app?, or have we seen our waiter? Keep in mind the two managers are being statues and you can't help but laugh and wonder, what in world is going on...? As the restaurant starts to become even busier, we know we need to leave ASAP. The burger was unfortunately a disappoint and the Orrichiette looked like someone ate half of it and served the rest. Not once did anyone come by asking, how was your meal? how was your dining experience? Which is honestly shocking. This isn't a new restaurant, its a reopening, you are apart of a hospitality group which normally has standards and I wished someone would've asked how this evening was to avoid writing a tragic, review as downtown JC is small and mighty and we want restaurants to thrive. Unfortunately it's hard to see this place once again after the fundamentals seem to be aspirational.

Yelp
I've always loved Franklin Social because of its ambiance, the cozy vibe and of course the cocktails. They do a really good job with the drinks, and I would definitely go back for those. But sadly, the quality of the food has deteriorated over the past few months. During our visit here last week, there was not a single food item on our table that was done right. The duck ($36) was chewy, the mushroom burger had no cheese or lettuce and lacked flavor, the chicken lollipop was overcooked and chewy as well. Since they have a speakeasy bar upstairs, I'd wanna come to the restaurant for mainly the food, and if they don't get that right, I don't see the point of coming again. I hope they take the necessary steps as I would love for this to be my favorite neighborhood bar.

Yelp
Fantastic Service and Food. Nice ambiance as well. Great local place to meet friends, have a nice dinner and fabulous cocktail menu too. They like to use all kinds of herbs, fruit, and exciting elements to make you happy!

Yelp
I freaking love this establishment! We've been here a couple of times and had a nice time during breakfast and a late night quiet date. Their selection of draft beers is limited which works for my undecisive mind and they're all great! Their appetizers and breakfast entrees are filling enough with the beer. Plus, the inside is classy but we'll dine in when we feel comfortable. I'm so glad they still have outdoor spaced seating. We'll happily try their oysters and cocktails (and can't forget the beer) next time. The servers here are nice, efficient and delightful as well.

Yelp
I hope to review this review in the future. I went in to make a reservation for next week. The place was packed. The ambiance beyond cute, cozy and Christmas-y!! They really do an amazing job! However. When I went to make a reservation (for my mothers birthday next Sunday) I was turned away saying they are not take ANY reservation until after Christmas!! I asked if there was a waiting list or anything and she just said sorry. ‍ Super disappointed that there isnt a waitlist or option given. Not sure if I'd try for later at this point. So 5 stars for ambiance. 2 for options not given

Yelp
Came here with a friend during Jersey City restaurant week and loved every minute of it The restaurant itself has a great feeling to it, definitely old school, 1800s Boston (or what I like to imagine Boston would've been like centuries ago). The prix fixe menu was perfectly proportioned and the staff is super friendly I ordered the - Local Carrots appetizer: The sauce was my favorite part. It was yogurt-based and complemented the carrots perfectly - Carbonara: Huge slices of meat on thick pasta noodles with an egg waiting to be sliced open - Flourless Chocolate Cake: Decadent and delicious My friend got an enormous beet salad, the carbonara, and a perfectly cooked cast iron cookie We did run into one hiccup, in the beginning i think they completely forgot our appetizers, so it took a little longer than usual to actually start our meal. The staff was super nice and apologetic about it Overall, highly suggest everyone check out Franklin Social! I also really love their sister restaurant, Cowan's Public

Yelp
Came here for brunch for a friend's birthday last Saturday. PROS: The food was fantastic, outdoor seating was great, super clean bathrooms, ultra-friendly waitstaff and hosts, not a far walk from the PATH train, great selection of cocktails, wine and beer CON: The unlimited mimosas were 90% OJ and you often have to track down one of the waitstaff with the carafes walking around I would definitely come back, but would skip the unlimited mimosas.

Yelp
TERRIBLE!!! DRINKS: Got the "Daily Dose". Was ok. Nothing spectacular. Wifey got a blueberry mocktail which was pretty good SHAREABLES: got fig toast. Think that was best food we had, and partially why we left somewhat full. ENTREES: this is where it goes to terrible. After an hour later our food finally arrived. But they messed up my wifes burger, and forgot my side. Instead of giving her portobello burger, pretty sure they served her a regular burger. Only reason she even found that out was because they gave her regular fries instead of truffle. And when we asked about the fries, they said they made a mistake and this wasn't portobello burger and took it away.. like what??? SERVING A VEGETARIAN MEAT IS BIG NO NO. But anyways no apologies, just me sitting with my chicken and just waiting on my sides. When we did get right burger it was terrible, and chicken was dry, salad inedible so we left without finishing our meal. Never mind we were never offered an apology once. I will take my business somewhere else.
