Catch Some of the Bay Area’s Hottest Pop-Ups at This New Art Museum in the Dogpatch | Eater SF

"I attended Mishmish’s pop-up at the ICA in October, where they served vegan Palestinian food as part of the museum’s rotating guest-chef dinners." - Dianne de Guzman

How The Chef Behind Vegan East Bay Pop-up Mishmish Celebrates Her Palestinian American Identity | Eater SF

"At Michelle Nazzal’s pop-up Mishmish, eating vegan Palestinian dishes feels like stepping into family history: the kifta—plant-based meat seasoned with allspice, cilantro, mint, and onion and wrapped around a tiny stick—is drizzled with a tahini sauce that sings; thin slices of beet, layered like a fanned deck of cards, balance just the right amount of oil and crunch and come adorned with bright orange flowers; and the cashew labna is a zingy, textural surprise. Nazzal frames these vegan takes on her grandmother’s recipes as a way of preserving Palestinian culture and imagines growing the project into a shop where she could sell pints of cashew labna and host art shows." - Paolo Bicchieri

This is our second time at this place. We ordered smoked salmon board and halloumi board with bagel and two teas. While we were ordering the lady who was helping us was interrupted and distracted several times. The food is ok not great but not horrible. The smoked salmon and halloumi was tasty but not made by them. The bagel is good but shouldn’t be called that because it’s nothing like a bagel. The black tea was flavourless just like the Moroccan tea. We didn’t try any of the sweets because it didn’t look appetizing. The cost was $43.47 and definitely not worth that price. Not a place I would crave or go back to.

I got the salmon board with a bagel and a lemon taza. My mom just got a bagel with the same dip and a baklava cream top drink. I loved the bagel, it was very delicious, my mom also loved the bagel and dip. The harissa hot honey dip was good but I would prefer it to be spicier! The lemon taza was good, not overly sweet and lemony. Everything went well together, the pickled cucumber and onion. Would have been nicer to have a little bit more smoked salmon but the obvious star is the bagel. The staff are friendly and everyone looks cool as well. It was not busy on a weekday and there seating. I like the high ceilings, makes the space more open! Food came out pretty quick. Next time I have to try the pita and the baked goods as it looks good!

Went here on a Saturday around noon and the place was already packed with a line. The café has a great vibe and looks very photogenic — definitely Instagram-worthy. I ordered the Salmon Bagel Board ($16) and Osmalieh ($8.5). The bagel board was okay but portion felt small, with just two thin slices of salmon — not really worth the price. The Osmalieh looked amazing and I can see why it’s popular, but it was extremely sweet (too sweet for me, even with coffee). Coffee art was nice, above average for Vancouver cafés. maybe back for coffee and ambiance

Been meaning to come here since it opened but assumed it was just another coffee shop, it’s much more than that. Yes you can get your late and your iced coffee but also these incredibly unique door offerings. We had these long bagels with the dips (garlic herb for me, Nutella for little miss) and they were scrumptious but we’ll have to come back for the Mexican puddings and incredible looking patties.

We came for breakfast and met up with family. I ordered a coffee with cardamom and the Mishmish bagel box. This box had a little bit of everything and was more than enough for 4 adults and 2 little ones. Highly recommended!

Really cute and bright coffee shop. Lots of tasty pastries and bagels. I got the tahini slush and the cornflake cookie. Both were excellent and not too sweet. Great way to start the morning.

I’m a big fan of Simit Bakery’s bagels! 😂 They might not be super traditional, but honestly, I actually prefer these ones. The café is so beautiful I definitely want to come back. The egg plate wasn’t exactly what I expected (more like tofu than eggs), but it was still really tasty. The staff were incredibly kind too, which was so heartwarming. Next time, I’ll try something else from the bakery. Please stay in Vancouver forever! 🥹💛

Update: Gave this place another chance and it was worth it! Tried the flat white again and it was DELICIOUS. Caramel and nutty undertones with just the right amount of acidity, with silky microfoam—just as it should be. It tastes like the beans were high quality and uniformly roasted as either light or medium. We also tried the salmon platter with Haloumi and LOVED the textures and different flavours involved. The Haloumi had some Umami that paired nicely with the spicy-sweetness of the hot honey. The yoghurt had a slightly biting tartness that went well wit the salmon and freshly-made, fluffy bagels. The pickled onions were balanced in sumac and dill, brightening the whole dish. My only wish is that the portion was larger for the price we paid (~$23 for a small platter). Delicious experience worth a third visit! Thank you to the owner for welcoming us and coming to say hi! Always nice to get a personal touch with the food we enjoy 💕 ————————— Aug 2025 The service was friendly and welcoming. However, there’s no Wi-Fi or power outlets, making it less ideal for work or study. The ambiance could be warmer with some wooden touches, plants, and wall art or macrame. The flat white was overly bitter and lacked the smooth, velvety texture it should have. It seemed like the beans might be over-roasted, overpowering the flavor and aroma. Not something I’d order again.
