"The name is a reference to the 18 Catholic missions that exist in Baja California. Their mission is a bit more down-to-earth: To celebrate the area's food. Located on the second floor of Vía Corporativo, Mexico's second self-sustainable building, the restaurant strives for sustainability by utilizing products that do not travel more than 200km from farm to table. Noteworthy dishes include aguachile, featuring slivers of local rockot dressed with salsa verde and avocado puree. Lechon prensado is an enticing roasted pork plated with a zesty roasted tomatillo salsa as well as reduced pork jus. It is a feast in itself, perhaps best accompanied by a rich tinta from one of the Valle de Guadalupe labels on offer." - Michelin Inspector

Came here for an early lunch and pretty much had the whole place to myself. Ordered 2 different cocktails that went excellently with the Pork Belly. It was cooked to perfection, as good as some of the Pork Belly I've had in Texas. My waiter also brought out this massive tray of different pastries for me to try at no additional cost which I thought was very cool. I love the ambience and setup of this restaurant, it's classy and chic without overdoing it.

I had a phenomenal experience, the place was very nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful, I order the 6 course meal with the wine pairing and all I can say is that it was amazing. Now let’s talk about the price( well considering that is a Michelin star restaurant be prepared to drop a couple hundred dollars so be ready)I’m definitely coming back.

Had their chef menu with wine pairing. Food was better last time I was there. Nothing really memorable about the dishes this time. Rissotto was dry, filet mignon was bit over cooked with sauce, taco was too sweet. Overall there was no complexity or texture to their items. Plating was ok, wine was ok, but service was decent. Was hoping for a repeat experience but l Was left with unsatisfied taste buds.

Mission 19, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Tijuana, is a well-known favorite among foodies visiting the city. Located in an unassuming office complex in central Tijuana, it’s a hidden gem that surprises with its upscale and modern décor. The sleek, contemporary atmosphere sets the tone for a fine dining experience, and I genuinely appreciated the ambiance from the moment I walked in. However, despite the restaurant's prestigious reputation, there were a few hiccups during our visit that prevented it from being flawless. Upon arrival, we encountered an issue with their digital menus, which weren't working for the first 30 minutes. This left us sharing a single hardcopy food menu, which was manageable but not ideal, especially when they were pushing us to order drinks without a drink menu on hand. This felt a bit rushed and annoying, as we wanted time to look over our options before making any decisions. When the digital menus finally started working, we ordered cocktails, and I must say, they were well-crafted and enjoyable. However, since we were a group of five and all opted for tasting menus with wine pairings, the cocktails took a back seat to the wines paired with our courses. As for the food, there were several tasting menu options, and I was tempted to go for the larger one. However, one of the courses included oxtail, which I don’t eat, so I settled on the six-course menu. The meal began with a tuna parfait that was fine but not particularly memorable or inventive. The subsequent courses were generally good, but there were some missteps. In particular, the risotto stood out for the wrong reasons—while I understand that risotto should be al dente, some of the rice was undercooked to the point of being hard, which detracted from the overall enjoyment of the dish. Thankfully, the meal ended on a high note with two perfectly cooked pieces of filet mignon. They were tender, flavorful, and portioned just right, leaving me satisfied by the end of the meal. While the menu overall had its highs and lows, I would say that for a Michelin-starred restaurant, there were moments where the execution didn’t live up to the expectation, particularly with the risotto and some service aspects. Despite these issues, it was still a fun and enjoyable evening with friends, and the restaurant certainly has potential to deliver a more consistent experience. In conclusion, Mission 19 is still worth trying, especially if you’re a foodie interested in exploring Tijuana’s fine dining scene. The atmosphere and certain dishes lived up to the hype, even if a few elements fell short. While they weren’t performing at their highest level during my visit, I remain optimistic that future diners will have a smoother experience. Given the reputation and overall vibe of the restaurant, I would still recommend giving it a shot, as it has the potential to impress on a better night.

Showed up for a late lunch or a real early dinner, but boy, it was so worth it! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves!! You do have to make reservations, we called in and made one 45 min before showing up. Service was superb!

Google
Did not truly live up to expectations. We got the tasting menu, and while the presentation of each dish was exquisite, there was a strange balance of flavours and textures in several of the dishes. The chef was clearly concentrating more on getting a wow as the plates came out than making the food truly delicious. Additionally, while service was attentive and friendly, it was almost **too** attentive in that it felt rushed. There was almost no time to rest between dishes, and at times it felt like we were being reminded to keep up and not take our time. There were several times when our wine pairings came out while we were halfway through the previous glass. At one point we had six wine glasses on the table. Very ambitious, and clearly a lot of effort going into plating, but ultimately falls short where it counts - flavour.

Mision 19 is a perennial favorite among foodie visitors to Tijuana. It's located in an unassuming office complex in central Tijuana. The decor is very modern and upscale feeling, and I genuinely liked the atmosphere. There were, however, a few hiccups. For one, their digital menu wasn't working for the first 30 minutes and they brought over one hardcopy food menu to share - fine, except they wanted us to order drinks and then tried to make suggestions without having a drink menu available which honestly felt pushy and was annoying. The electronic menus finally worked and we ordered cocktails - the cocktails were very good, but since we (were a group of 5) all wanted a tasting menu with wine pairings we continued to just drink wine that came with the food. There were a few different tasting menus, one that had more courses - which I was tempted to get, but because one of the courses was oxtail and I don't eat oxtail, I opted for the six course pairing. I am writing this review a week after the meal and can't remember all the courses, but the meal started with a tuna parfait thing, was ok, but not super original. The rest of the courses were pretty good, I didn't love the risotto because some of the rice was actually way too hard and undercooked (while I understand risotto should not be mushy and a good risotto should be on the harder side, there is an art to cooking the rice and they didn't seem to have it down). The final course were two small but appropriately sized pieces of filet mignon which were delicious. All in all, a nice experience with friends, but for being a fine dining establishment they definitely were not performing at their highest level the night I went. Regardless, I do encourage anyone interested to give the restaurant a try!

Yelp
On a recent visit to Tijuana, my first meal was at the progressive Michelin Guide mentioned restaurant, Mision 19 (yes, there is only one s in the name). Walking in, you are enveloped in soft music, optimum illumination, a warm exquisite dining space with white table cloths adorned with minimal polished cutlery. You are at one of the premier avant garde dining destinations in Tijuana. I came here specifically to try one of their degustation menus (there are two of them). My choice was the Chef's Tasting, which consisted of 6 courses, 6 different wine pairings, all for $103. At the onset, it seemed reasonably priced and definitely worthy of participation. The Courses, in order were as follows (I have posted numerous photos of all of the courses and the restaurant): DEEPNESS SHRIMP (Lemon gelee, Olive oil, Turmeric foam) TETELA DUCK CONFIT (Guava mole, orange gelee, epazote) LOBSTER AND CORN (Roasted corn cream, huitlacoche, fried polenta) ROASTED HERITAGE PORK "CREPE" TACO (Masa crepe, cilantro, taco stand type salsas (sub for Taco Goloso, a tripe dish) LAMB LOIN (Lamb jus, saffron and moroccan mint couscous, potatoe chambray, onions) TERRARIUM (Goat cheese, walnut mousse, almonds crumble, organic flowers). It was extremely difficult to choose a favorite. Each course came to the table beautifully plated and delivered unique flavors, textures and a variety of tastes. The level of expertise in preparation of each of the components was unmistakable. The contrasts in temperatures coupled with the balance of spice and fragrance, enhanced each and every dish. Service was attentive, unhurried with every course meticulously explained upon presentation. An extraordinary level of synchrony and harmony dominated the almost 2 hours of the dinner and wine service. All in all, a wonderful and memorable dining experience.

Yelp
Had their octopus appetizer. Generous portions, great flavor. The most impressive of all to me is that they cooked the octopus perfectly. Super tender octopus. A bit pricey at $30, but it is an upscale restaurant, so it isn't out of the ordinary. Service staff were extremely observant and detail oriented. It feels weird to say this, but it is almost as if you summon them with a single glance. To some this can be uncomfortable, but I say this to celebrate the attention to detail and service of this restaurant and to say kudos to the staff. An example of the level of service is that I was eating near sunset time. I guess the suns rays may have been hitting my face...I didn't notice that the brightness of the sun was bothering me until suddenly...the brightness was gone. Why? A staff member quietly snuck around and gently pulled the shade down behind me. Impressive! Interior is modern, clean, beautiful. I wish the windows were less obstructed.

Yelp
This place was fancy. If you are looking for a fine dining experience with impeccable service from the staff... Michelin Star Mission 19 is it. Pro: The price point for the amount of food you are getting and the quality. At first we thought we were going to leave hungry, however we were stuffed by the middle of the 6 course meal. Best dishes were the tacos and main course. Filet Mignon and lamb. $100 per person All the dishes were amazing. Some I liked more than others which is why I like to always suggest trying the multiple course meals... You have an opportunity to try everything. Thank you

Yelp
Upscale dining and contemporary restaurant located in Zona Rio of TJ. Just a quick uber ride over from the border crossing. Tried this place at the recommendation of a friend and was definitely not disappointed. We went with the prefixed 6 course meal with wine pairings and total came to about ~$90 per person. Course 1: tuna avocado parfait. Wasn't personally the biggest fan of this item and was on the saltier side. Course 2: duck confit. (Subbed this for grilled octopus) came in a samosa like pasty shell with mole sauce. Duck was very tender almost melt in your mouth and was very delicious paired with the mole sauce. Course 3: pork crepe taco. Came with a spicy tomatillo jalapeño sauce and sweet and spicy meat was absolutely beautiful and one of the highlights of this 6 course meal. Course 4: risotto. Very VERY rich and heavy. But paired with one of the lighter reds it balanced this out pretty well, pretty buttery and came with a foamy buttery emulsion on top. Course 5: chefs selection - filet mignon. Very tasty and perfectly cooked and tender. Not too heavy. Course 6: carrot bread pudding. This was absolutely delicious. Sweet and salty with a little bit of nata ice cream and a sweet moscato to wash it down. Perfect way to end the meal. Overall a very extensive meal with generous wine pours at a bargain for ~$90 USD. I appreciated their flexibility to let me sub the duck for the octopus. The parfait was the only dish I didn't enjoy and if the risotto was a little bit lighter I think I would've given this 5 stars.

Yelp
Seriously the best culinary experience in TJ you'll be blown away. I had the foie gras appetizer which simply melts in your mouth. My duck breast entree was espectacular the marzipan accompanying it was so good I wished the chef would jar it up it would sell better than nutella. Then I had dessert and sincerely my compliments to the pastry chef as it was pure art. Was so beautiful it was hard to break into it. I simply cant wait to be back it is the perfect excuse to go back to TJ. BTW dont miss out on the yummy bread selection. Also the wait staff was outstanding thank you to my waiter who anticipated my needs and was there for every decision made. Will happily be back and bring more people. Plus have already highly recommended it.

Yelp
Cool, very modern, upscale restaurant in the Zona Rio area of Tijuana. Contemporary cuisine spot located on the 2nd floor of the only LEED Gold certified building in Tijuana - very modern, impressive looking office building that houses a number of other businesses including the Deloitte and Via Capital consulting firms. Checked this spot out earlier this month on a Friday afternoon around 2:30. Had reservations (which you can do on their website or through Open Table and which to my understanding are required) but the place was literally empty when I arrived (though a large English-speaking group did come in approximately 20-30 minutes after I was seated for what appeared to be their Christmas party). I got the sense that regardless of whether you have a reservation, you can get a table if tables are available (of which plenty were that particular afternoon). Ordered the grilled beef rib ($28), which came with mashed potatoes and a chili sauce. Also ordered a frozen strawberry margarita and martini timarond. Their frozen margarita was very good, though I think something got lost in translation as the margarita I received was definitely not strawberry LOL - was some other fruit. Had something very similar happened last year when ordering a strawberry margarita from another upscale Mexican restaurant (I think it was Cabanna) so would recommend if you want a strawberry Margarita in Mexico would recommend saying it in Spanish ("margarita fresa"). The martini timarond was excellent - maybe the best timarond I've had in Tijuana. Love the chili lime seasoning that accompanied it. Would highly recommend this drink! While waiting for my entree they brought out a variety of breads (maybe 5 or so types) to choose from. I chose basically their regular form of bread and a sugary bread they had that was somewhat similar to a cinnabon. Both were very good - ended up getting multiple servings of the bread The grilled beef rib came out fairly fast afterwards. Was excellent and very tasty! No complaints at all. The mashed potatoes that came as a side, while noticeable small-portioned, were also excellent. The mashed potatoes were served within a bone which was cool and added to the flavor a bit. Enjoyed the food quite a bit! Whole meal, including my two drinks, came out to just under $53 total in U.S. dollars, including tax. Paid with a credit card. There doesn't appear to be bar seating here, only tables. I took Uber here but they do have valet parking available, and they also validate parking for the garage attached to the building. I'm not much for "upscale" dining and can't say this is the best restaurant in TJ that I've been to, but it's a very solid option that I'd definitely recommend. The building this restaurant is located in is as impressive as anything else...

Yelp
Mision 19 has it all, the food, service, and ambiance are top-notch. This restaurant is contemporary and sleek. They use the freshest ingredients located less than 125 miles away. The produce comes from local farms and the meat as well. They are striving to be a sustainable restaurant. The menu is revolving and seems to be evolving, if that's even possible! It's already unbelievable. I like to try something new when I dine, if I don't commit to the Classic Tasting of Mision 19 (6 course) or Chef's Tasting (6 course). The Chef's Tasting is amazing! Currently the menu is as follows: Fish & dried chili, tetela duck confit, lobster & corn, taco goloso, lamb lion, and terrarium. The terrarium is: goat cheese | walnut mousse | almonds crumble | organic flowers. These tastings also offer a wine paring (local wines) for an additional/small charge, definitely worth it. This is an upscale restaurant and totally romantic, if that's what you are going for or not. The setting is beautiful, it's incredible. The professional staff make the dining experience even more enjoyable. Some of my favorite appetizers are: Rock Shrimp: Tomato & ginger jam | manchego cheese | chilli oil Coconut Salad: Lettuce mix | pineapple and celery compote | peanut Tuna Tartar: Cucumber tartar | avocado | chicken cracklings Some of my entrees are: Mision 19 Pasta: Wild shrimp | crab sauce | cauliflower | melaza crouton Grilled Beef Rib: Bone marrow | smashed potatoes | guajillo sauce Fresh Local Bluefin Tuna: Cactus | xoconostle | black mole caramel | mashed charred cauliflower short rib chicharron Some of my favorite desserts are: Passion Fruit Sphere: Red fruit | butter sable | pistachio cake | taro ice Butterscotch Mousse & Double Chocolate Cake: Sponge chocolate cake | almond | crèmefraiche and vanilla bean There's even a brunch menu, but I haven't had brunch here yet. There's also a vegan 4 course tasting option as well. Reservations are recommended, but if you go early in the afternoon/evening, it's possible to walk-in.

Yelp
During a recent trip on Christmas Eve, we stopped by as a large group for lunch with advanced reservations but were pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant almost empty during lunch time. Service was absolutely amazing and on point and they took special care to make a separate dish for a child with nut allergies in the group. Two members of the group chose to try the vegan menu and were happy with their options as well. The complimentary bread assortment was delicious! Accompanied by the fantastic drinks- both cocktails and mocktails, set our expectations quite high. We tried a number of dishes but wouldn't say I was blown away by any dish in particular. Two members of our group were returning for their 3rd time and mentioned that they felt the experience was underwhelming as compared to their previous visits. I would prefer to try the tasting menu if we return another time.

Vince L.

Yelp
The food here is one of the better ones in TJ. Very reasonable. Service was good and the restaurant itself looked very upscale and perfect for any dates or special events. Really makes me wonder why it was so empty.

Luis R P.

Yelp
Excellent high end international cuisine in the heart of Tijuana. Excellent wine, cocktails, and liqueurs selection. Service is excellent and fast. Nice ambiance for a date or just a group of friends. See photos for dishes. This is a wonderful spot for foodies!

Yelp

Yelp
It's been years since we dined here and the food has gotten even better than the last time. From drinks, appetizers, to main courses, and deserts, all were exquisitely prepared and presented. The service was impeccable and not overbearing. The ambiance is Mexican modern with white tablecloths and fine table settings. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a fine dining experience with no ties required.

Yelp
Excelente servicio. Excelente comida. Recomiendo el pato que tienen en la carta regular. El ambiente es muy agradable ya que no es ruidoso.

Yelp
After years of going to TJ I finally made it to Mision 19. We were celebrating our first anniversary so I wanted to make sure it was special evening and they did not disappoint. From the moment we walked into the restaurant, you got a sense of the high class atmosphere Mision 19 wished to convey. For starters, we ordered the bone marrow and the octopus. Both were probably the best marrow and octopus I've ever tasted. The marrow had a light salsa topping and the octopus had a tomato base w a garlic sauce on the side. I also was impressed w the wine selection. They had some of my favorites from the Valle which is always a plus. For dinner we had the cavatelli pasta, rib eye steak, and short rib. We loved all three dishes, but the short rib knocked it out the park. Best short rib ever. Last we ordered the chocolate/ butterscotch and bread pudding desserts. Again some of the best we've ever had. If you're noticing a trend... many of the items we had during our Mision 19 experience was the best we've ever had. Top that w the outstanding service, you have a unforgettable dining experience. No wonder Anthony Bourdain said it was his favorite restaurant when he visited San Diego. This was probably the easiest 5 star I've ever given.

Manny D.

Yelp
Amazing! The best food I had in TJ. The staff was the best, truly respectful and knowledgeable about every dish that was given to me. I ordered the 6 course meal and was blown away by the quality of the food. I also did the pairing, which was a great choice. This place is worth every penny and I would go back any day! Michelin needs to make a pit stop asap!

Han L.

Yelp
This is one of the easiest fives stars I gave. We were a little early to our reservation so we explored the building a little. If you go to the top floor and find the worker, he'll open the roof door and you can get a city view from the top. I highly recommend this before or after the meal! We ordered a few plates to share and spent around $45 each. For this price point, the food we got in terms of quality and presentation was amazing. Grilled octopus- a must. the sauce really made a difference bone marrow - ridiculous. The best I've had. And they gave so much!! And with the tortillas. omg. dry aged tomahawk - it wasn't on the menu, but they offered it to us. It comes with a bunch of sides, but forget the sides. The meat was crazy. It was one of the best steaks I've ever had. The presentation is also amazing. In terms of drinks, the missionary cucumber was so well made. The coyote was good too, but the missionary was better.

Maximas G.

Yelp
Mision 19 is a great place to go to for an introduction to Baja cuisine and for such reasonable prices I would absolutely recommend. The restaurant has a very sleek and refined interior with an open floor plan, no private booths but the tables are nicely spaced out. The wait staff is attentive and very knowledgeable, providing a detailed description of each plate's ingredients and preparation. Complimentary bread and bite sized tostadas are provided and they are happy to give you more bread upon request. I ordered the Classic 6-course menu with curated wine pairings for only $85 USD. Such a good deal! Although each plate is a smaller portion size I was very satisfied and full after my meal. Their selection of natural wines are locally produced from Valle De Guadalupe and really shows their dedication to sourcing organic and local/regional ingredients and producers. Some courses stand out more than others, but everything was tasty and unique. Some favorites that we ordered: + Pan Roasted Duck Breast + Center Cut Filet Mignon + Roasted Heritage Pork Tacos + Tamarindo Coconut Martini If you are coming from Stateside, as my party was, I'd recommend parking Stateside (10-$20 for the day depending on if you go during the week or weekend) and walk over the border and take a cab/uber to the restaurant since it is located only 10-15 min from the border. This will save you so much time from having to cross to and from in your car. Just remember to bring your passport and ID.

Dawson P.

Yelp
Extremely affordable for top tier dining for those coming stateside. Absolutely delicious food along with excellent service! Most definitely recommended! :D

Yelp
OMG so happy we finally came here!! brought the whole family for a nice "back to school" lunch parking was a cinch (garage parking) took the elevator up as far as COVID goes...they are taking precautions. servers are wearing a mask and a face shield. they are serving using gloves they temp check all guests and require using sanitizer. we were seated in the center of the room...tables were space really far from each other. we started to peruse the menu they brought us an amuse bouche ..no idea what is was but it was delish! then they brought us an array of the most amazing breads I have ever eaten in my life!! adults ordered a cocktail to start and the kids had a melon Agua Fresca (which we loved) as far as food....it seems as if we had a little of everything. APPS -octopus...yum -oysters ..yum -bone marrow...triple yum (this was the kids favorite app) then we ordered a bottle of wine for entree's -both kids ordered a pasta dish with shrimp...it was amazing -mister had dry aged rib eye. it was cooked perfectly. came with a side of veggies -I had the braised beef short ribs..yum!!! kids had the winning entree though ! absolutely would and will return . want to do the tasting menu

Yelp
I've had this place bookmarked for a while, so on our way back from the Valle, we went here for my birthday dinner. We made reservations, but didn't seem like we needed to since we were the only customers dining here the whole time. It was kind of weird to have the whole restaurant to ourselves, so service was very, very attentive. We decided to try the course meal, so my hubby opted for the wine pairing while I got a cocktail instead. I got a cucumber margarita instead, and it was very refreshing. We got to choose from a variety of complimentary breads to start with. Next, we had the bluefin tuna parfait, the charcoal octopus, suckling pig roast, risotto arborio, and filet mignon. Everything tasty and nicely presented. Portions were small, but we weren't too hungry, so it was the perfect amount of food. For dessert, it was something similar to bread pudding made with carrots and blueberries. I was surprised that they gave me an extra birthday cake, with a candle on top as well!

Brian S.

Yelp
I went here a couple of weeks ago with my mother and we each ordered the chef's tasting menu, which came with 6-courses (each with a unique wine/beer pairing), plus a single appetizer which we shared. The decor is clean and spacious. There weren't any private booths as far as we can tell, so if the place is busy you might end up sitting close with some other party. When we went, however, the place was empty. Our waiter's were fairly-knowledgeable about the courses being served and the techniques used to prepare them. They were attentive, without overdoing it. In some locations, I feel as though the service-staff won't leave you alone. The staff of Mision19 strikes a good balance in my opinion. The Appetizer was a foie gras with a wine and guava reduction sauce. It was served a top a bread of some kind. I never had foie gras before in my life which is why this dish caught my attention. So I jumped on the opportunity and ordered it for my mother and I. We were both very impressed with the quality of the flavor. The Foie gras was indeed rich and buttery like many people have told me. Definitely something I'd try again. The only problem though is that there's too little of it, but that's to be expected for a Michelin-star restaurant. Anyway, the other flavors worked pretty well. The wine-reduction definitely went with the butteriness of the foie gras for obvious reasons and the guava added a sweetness that wasn't overpowering. Course #1 was an aguachile. I'm a big fan of aguachile so my taste-buds were easily impressed with this course. I actually liked the beer they paired with it too. I don't like beer normally, but this one went well with the course. The beer was made in-house along with the tortilla chips I think, so the chef's at this establishment are to be commended for that. They're really well-rounded. Course#2 was a shrimp-patty/cake. I believe it contained crab as well. What impressed me was how moist the patty was. In my experience shrimp/crab-cakes are a bit on the drier side, but I didn't have that problem here. There were bits of fried garlic/or chicharrones on-top that added a nice crunch. The matcha and broccoli purée was likewise a nice touch. Course#3 was a fish-broth. It contained mussel and shrimp and Chilean sea-bass. The skin on the bass was so crispy. That was easily my favorite part of this course. The broth itself is fairly good. It had a little kick to it, but not overtly so. Course#4 was the tripe and tartare taco. It was suspended over charcoal which added a Smokey flavor. The fried tripe was lightly and crispy and the tartare and crema imparted some nice flavors as well. Course#5 was an oxtail stew. I personally didn't like this one as much as the rest of the courses. I found it way too rich. Though my mother loved it. It was still very good, just maybe a bit too much for me. Course#6 was the dessert. An eclair with Greek yogurt on top serves alongside lavender ice cream. This course wasn't super-memorable in my opinion. Definitely very tasty though. Each of the components/ingredients really stood out, which I guess is the point, but I think I'm going to remember the other courses more. The cocktail the chef paired it with on the other hand was amazing. Definitely a stand-out. My mother and I went out to purchase liquer43 and espresso in hopes of recreating that delicious recipe. I don't think we succeeded, which is a shame, cause we both want to have this drink again! I highly recommend coming here. The price is fair. Only 87 per person, and you get the chance to try 6 Michelin-Star courses prepared by one of Tijuana's greatest chefs.

Yelp
I don't give many 5 stars as should be the case but this place is as close to perfect as I know at this moment. The wait staff is outstanding and attentive. They refilled my wine glass without a long wait. The food arrived in a timely fashion and well timed with the completion of each course. The staff explained the meal, and since I speak little Spanish someone was available to translate to ensure I was comfortable. The food did not require extra seasoning....says a lot, and the presentation was telling kind you see in high quality magazines. The location and setting was upscale and parking was available. I have no complaints about my dining experience. If I had to offer advice for improvement, it would only be alternative selections for non pork eaters. I

Yelp
This place is amazing. Wonderful staff and truly delicious food and drinks. I did the traditional course and loved every single bite. I don't speak Spanish and the waiters were very helpful despite seeming shy about using English. There is safe covered parking and you could just drive right in from California and drive right out of the secured building without every needing feel unsafe or scared. They validated my parking. It's such a great value compared to what you get on the other side of the border that it's cheaper to make a day trip to TJ than one to LA.

Yelp
Definitely a must go if you are a gourmet food aficionado. It's owned by one of the Placencia family who have several highly respectable restaurants including Saverios, Casa Plasencia etc. However, this restaurant is the jewel on top of the crown. It's beautiful, delicious and quite affordable for being a 5 star restaurant.

Yelp
Food and Serice are great at this Restaurant as well as the menu and prices. It's very cozy and nice.

Yelp
OMG the food and ambiance is excellent. The chef definitely knows his stuff. Everything was delicious and expertly displayed. I am a very passionate fan, even though pricing is WAY below US standards for the same fare, I cannot afford to go there more often than I would like.

Yelp
Living in Rosarito I've heard of this restaurant for some time. So finally I went with four friends on a Friday night. I ordered the duck breast accompanied by truffled risotto. The duck was tasty, not delicious. On my last three bites the server asked if I wanted more sauce for the duck. I told him that he never served it to begin with. Perhaps with the sauce it would have been delicious? The risotto was very good. One of my companions ordered the ribeye steak but sent it back to have it warmed up because it was cold when served. The worst was the abalone appetizer. Avoid it. Seriously! Prepared so tough it was hard to cut with a knife. So I was disappointed by half of my meal. But the blue fin tuna appetizer was divine as well as the deconstructed apple dessert. This restaurant is rated too high and is too expensive for the experience I had.

Yelp
This used to be one of my favorite places & I have no idea what happened. Gone is the white glove service, the mezcal cart, the platter with the selection of steak knives...and this was at a fraction of the current price. They still do a bread service. We had to ask for butter. Got a couple of tiny cubes that were so cold they were unusable. We had to ask for softened butter and it was evident it was just microwaved. Ordered a number of appetizers to share - foie gras, tuna tartare, grilled oysters, and rock shrimp. All were...ok. The foie gras was prepared with peanut butter, which sounds interesting was a miss. The tuna and oysters were ok but nothing special. The shrimp were straight out of a sports bar - kind of a breaded coconut style shrimp with a delicious sauce stuffed with cheese. They weren't bad...just not really in line with rest of menu. Apps now range between $14 - $25 USD. Ordered the bluefin tuna (husband loved it), filet (tough), pressed pork (didn't care for it at all - after mentioning that, no substitution was offered and despite not having been touched, we're still charged for it), shrimp pasta (kid inhaled pasta, shrimp wasn't seasoned at all) and grilled beef rib (which ended up being more like a braised short rib, was supposed to have bone marrow sauce but that didn't translate and the mashed potatoes were awful). The star of the show was the risotto, which was delicious, period. Despite being mostly empty & well staffed, the service was slllloooowwww. We had very obviously finished and were ready to leave. Ordered coffee. Took half hour to get. Then check/payment also took forever. Nobody ever asked how the food was and, as I said, when we mentioned the pork not being great...crickets. We left tired, kind of cranky and a bit disappointed. I didn't pay the bill but entrees started at $25, so you do the math. I don't know if they have new management or a new chef, but this place has gone way downhill. It's still a beautiful place and some of the food was good, but overall it's no longer a "must go".

Yelp
Absolutely AMAZING!!! Wow, what an experience. My wife and I had one of the best meals/dining experience last night at Chef Javier Plascencia's Misión 19 restaurant. This is fine dining at its best and would easily make the the top five best restaurant list here in San Diego. Located 10 minutes across the United States/Mexico border in the industrial area of Tijuana is where you will find this gem! Eat amongst Mexico's elite in a very elegant and comfortable environment. I recommend you hire a driver, as the roads can be a bit confusing. My wife ordered a lobster ravioli that was infused with an amazing butter cream sauce. It was so delicious. I had the chefs preset six course meal and I loved every single dish. From the sea urchin soup to the short ribs, everything had so much flavor and was a work of art! Absolutely worth a drive across the border. The price is also unbelievable and extremely reasonable for the quality of food. For the six course meal it's about $85 (US currency) which, would cost $300+ on this side of the border. My wife's amazing dish was around $18 and would easily be a $55 dish in one of San Diego's fine dining restaurant. We stopped for a stroll down memory lane (Revolution Street) and it was almost unrecognizable from when we were going to the clubs at 18 years old. Tijuana has really modernized this area and now you see nice restaurants and micro breweries, yes micro breweries! There was never a point when I didn't feel safe and everyone was so friendly. There are still clubs playing music, which adds to the fun and gives you the familiar vibe. Misión 19 is a 5++ with the flavor/quality of their meals combined with the upscale atmosphere! Dress, is business casual with plenty of people wearing jeans and button ups. A nice blazer for men would be on the dressier side and not required. Thank you Mr. Javier Plascencia, your love for food was alive in every bite!!!!

Yelp
I wish I could write a book on how amazing this restaurant is! Amazing atmosphere, spectacular food, perfect servers, delicious cocktails; beautiful everything! 5 star food 5 star restaurant 5 star service! Not to mention the prices are just beautiful, I feel like I'm robbing them lol. 5 star meals at a 3 star price, it cannot get any better than that! I wish I could go on and on, they have a killer wine cellar. Not to mention the architecture is absolutely beautiful! Even the building outside is like you know you're entering a perfect dream world of culinary delight. When you come to TIJUANA or if you live here it would be an absolute sin not to come here! And for you film lovers out there this reminds me of a perfect restaurant comprised specifically for American Psycho

Yelp
Restaurante Mision 19 is now seven years old, yet with every New York Times article, more English speakers crowd into the dining room. That fact is not a bad thing in and of itself, just a sea change, something to notice. The most recent NYT article was on Tijuana in general, with a passing reference to Mision 19. However, the breathy article missed the mark on the vibrancy of the city. Javier Plascencia is a name which attracts, but it is just that---a name. Mision 19 is not part of the Grupo Plascencia. That fact does not concern me, as it is not names I seek, but an enjoyable dining experience. Mision 19 is located inside an office building, so a Saturday visit appears strange. Have I returned to work? When I walk into the reception, I know Venancio and Theresa will be waiting for me, both of whom have been at Mision 19 for a long time. The first order of business is always the wine list, which is a disappointment tonight. Specifically, it is so much more abbreviated from the list identified online. In fact, I had targeted seven wines online as possible selections, and NONE of them were available. Venancio spoke of a constantly updated wine list, with new selections. I get that totally, but that was NOT the case here---there was NOTHING new---only a slash and burn of many previously-available wines. I settled on a Casa Baloyan Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon, decanted, and served in a special larger wine glass [on request only---not offered]. Venancio was generally good in pouring the wine throughout the meal. For dinner, I ordered the Tartare of Tuna and then the Sliced Duck Breast. These two dishes have been on the menu a long time. There is a new beef dish on the menu, as well as a new lobster ravioli with corn. A dedicated waiter serves five kinds of bread from a wicker basket, which is a big plus. For dessert, I ordered the chocolate "button", which was a small serving and only fair. After dinner, there is always a good espresso. There were two Americans seated next to me, drawn in by the New York Times accolades. They asked me for restaurant recommendations in Tijuana. They had never heard of Cubo Bistro or Caccio, both of which I recommended, and they dutifully wrote down the names. In addition, although they were familiar with the Valle de Guadalupe, they also asked for wine recommendations, with the woman stating she wanted to drink the same wine I had selected. I think after seven years of Mision 19, perhaps a new spirit, a revitalized energy, either in décor or cooking, would be welcome. Such a change would surely bring back the citizenry of Tijuana to this space floating over the rooftops of Tijuana on the second floor of the Via Corporativo Building.

Yelp
Lo que mas me gusto fue la atencion al cliente sin embargo la comida esta riquisima. Sin duda alguna volveria a ir. Saludos.

Yelp
Came for a lunch meeting and found an amazing upscale fine dining chef restaurant! Located in Tijuana gastronomic district-10 minutes from the border- The restaurant just open and the we sat right away. They have great wine and cocktails selection and the food is just DELICIOUS, and full of flavors. Highly recommended!!

Alexa A.

Yelp
It's a whole experience. Make sure to choose the chefs recommendation for starters. It includes wine and a whole festival of flavors for your palate

Yelp
The breads are the only thing is good!! Their drinks are full of ice!!!!!!! Food is mediocre. Won't be back

Yelp
Mision 19 is a great fine dining restaurant if you're in the area and want something more fancy and upscale. Our group opted for the 6 course pre-fixe menu which consisted of blue fin tuna, Sea Urchin Soup, Sweet Corn Agnolotti, Goloso Taco, Pork Sirlon, and a Citric Dulcura. We had mix opinions on the blue fin tuna. I personally liked it but can tell the fish was not as fresh for some as they were on my plate. The Sea Urchin soup was very good. Something I would want a full bowl of. The taco was another crowd favorite. The meat served on the taco was juicy and very flavorful. I would have eaten 5 more if they served it. The pork dish was ok. I prefer my pork served more on the medium side but understand its not typically served undercooked in Mexico. Overall, we had a great experience. The service is very good and you can't beat the price. It was roughly $60 for a 6 course fine dining meal, not inclusive of the bottle of wine/drinks we had.

Yelp
Took my husband here to celebrate his birthday and we loved the food and drinks! Great service!

Yelp
I came here with my boyfriend on a Saturday evening during the pandemic. We tried reserving a table online and calling it in, but we were told three times that they had no availabilities that night. We went in person to take a reservation for the next day, and were seated right away. Made no sense but that's fine! We got the 6 course chef's menu. Tuna tartare, pork taco, octopus, risotto, steak, and dessert. The tuna was fantastic. The pork taco was too sweet for my taste but cooked perfectly nonetheless. The octopus was fantastic. The risotto was pretty average to be honest, and the foam topping didn't look appetizing at all. The most disappointing dish was the steak, which was definitely cooked to a medium/medium rare and was very chewy. If the price for our meal was any higher I'd knock another star off, but for the price this meal was great. The service was good and cocktails were amazing- best sangria you'll ever try. I'll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Great gourmet dining experience. The food was outstanding and the service was great. The same kind of experience in San Diego would cost 4 times as much

Yelp
Muy bueno todo! Excelente atención. Una de las mejores hamburguesas en Tijuana. La sopa de tortilla también muy rica. Si vuelvo.

Yelp
My fiance and I had the best dinner of our lives. Everything from the service, food and wine were delicious. We had the bone marrow as an appetizer and I was afraid to try it but it was absolutely delicious. The homemade bread especially the rosemary honey was so yummy. Every course was better then the next. We would definitely come back here again. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and left there stuffed. I was getting full by the second course but my fiance told me to suck it up. I can't wait to come back. Very reasonably priced for what we got.

Yelp
My daughter and I ate here last night and had an amazing experience. It's easy to get to. Park at the lot across from PedWest, walk across the border, and take a quick (5-10 minute) Uber ride (about $4) right to the restaurant. We did their classic tasting menu paired with the wines. The service was exceptional and the food did not disappoint. Every bite was a pleasure to the tastebuds. Every San Diego foodie should make at least one pilgrimage here. We'lll be back!

Ryan M.

Yelp
Had a great time here! Definitely a unique experience you won't get anywhere else. Highly recommended when you're in TJ if you want a nice classy dinner instead of the usual.

Yelp
Crossed the Mexico border by literally walking across with my friend W and her bf C. Such a amazing day for a Monday - day after New Years'. They brought me to this amazing restaurant - which we UBERed to. Outside it resembled a office building - though once going more in, the interior architecture was amazing. You needed to press the floor it was on and all the elevators are already programmed to go to a specific floor. For this restaurant it would be Level 2. We received the drink menu first. I ordered a Agua del Dia (Drink of the Day) and also a Melcate drink. Unfortunately I neglected to take a picture of that so I could be more descriptive on what I had. Agua del Dia had no alcohol in it and was a lovely drink - slightly sweetened almost like it was a flavored tea. The Melcate drink had a spicy kick to it with the salt decorate the edges. I finished both needless to say. We also each ordered the Chef's Tasting Menu and C got his with the Wine Pairing. I had no idea what to expect as I was already astounded that I was out of the country. While waiting for our first tasting dish there was someone walking around serving bread. I loved the rosemary one as there was so much flavor and the butter escalated it. We first received the blue fin tuna studio. Soaked in the beans broth, the meat flavor intensified. This tasting dish was Belly and tar tar, smoked marlin, onion ashes and the pickled onion. Everything was soft, lightly chewable and the flavor went wonderfully with the broth. The Smoked Potatoe was what we received second. The beef tartar was surrounded by coffee nectar I suppose (it looked a bit like vinegar) and then a spoonful of the banan puree. The puree along with the coffee nectar was a lovely combination. I was bewildered how everything looked so simple - but the quality of everything made all the difference. Then we came to the octopus chicarron. Presentation and taste were both up to par. I was amazed how the octopus was tender, but chewable. Like soft chewable. And I was fascinated by how it was lightly grilled. It was marvelous eating a piece of it with the coconut oil fried beans, chile pasado, and the carbonized seaweed. We licked the plate clean. Fourth was Goloso Taco - simple. Ubre, tripes, beef tartar, ranch sour cream, salsa verde. I do think it was a tad too crunchy as my mouth started to ache after it but it may also have been because i had my wisdom teeth taken out a few months ago and my teeth weren't full up to speed on the biting section. Beef Asado - AMAZING. The meat was tender - cooked medium I would say...as there was still red in it. The pumpkin, corn, and carbonized date fruit butter made it irresistable not to lick our plates cleaner than we could already make it. Fresh Ojos Negros Riccota I could eat this dessert every day if they would just make it for me. So tasty, soft, with the medley of macerated strawberries, strawberry roll-up, banana brulee and the pistachio financier. It had a fluffy white top layer which looked so much like whipped cream and was so soft when you scooped a bit of it to taste the goodness. Our waitress gave us a brief description of what was in each dish as our Spanish was not too up to par for her to explain the dish completely. I also found out later from a friend that it would be better to ask the waiter to charge your credit card in pesos - so it will come out to a good deal for you. Definitely try out the tasting menu if you're feeling adventurous in your taste buds!

Yelp
This place used to be a solid 5 stars across the board. Now, they use terrible ingredients. The octopus was mushy and tasted right on the cusp of expiration. The fish was actually rancid and way past its expiration, which is unacceptable in any dining establishment. The bone marrow (which used to be a must get item here) barely had any marrow in it and now they cover it with some sauce. The foie gras tasted extremely off and was very hard to cut through. It tasted undercooked and very off (I eat a lot of foie gras in Montreal, it's a dish I know well). The suckling pig was dried out, burnt and had tendon parts. I also showed the server and head chef how bad it both the suckling pig and fish were. One one item was taken off my bill. The service was still very good. It's a shame how bad Mision 19 has fallen. Shame on them for using rotten ingredients, they've fallen so low I can no longer recommend this establishment. This is not the same mision 19, it's done a complete 180 and turned upside down. Stay far away and avoid, you've been warned.

Yelp
Solid fine dining place! We went for dinner (on the early side) on a Monday night and for the first 30-40min we were the only two dining there :p The ambience was beautiful and the staff were very attentive. We were not too hungry so we didn't go for the tasting menu. We got the Aguachile, the Foie Gras for appetizers, the Lobster and the Roasted Whole Chicken for entrees and shared the Pineapple Mint Dessert. The Aguachile used rocket and was very fresh. The black sauce tasted like it had balsamic vinegar in it and made a very interesting taste with the chopped peanuts. Probably my favorite. Foie Gras was done well, fat but not too greasy. The lobster was accompanied with some small raviolis whose filling was sweet and creamy. I personally prefer a more savory filling though. The sauce was delicious and went were with breads. The Roasted Chicken was prepared in two ways. The parts with more meat were cut down first and paired with sauce and veggies, then then took the bone parts to deep fry. Interesting and creative way to present the dish! The chicken was quite tender. The whole dining experience was great and I'd give it 4-4.5 stars.

Yelp
This was, by far, hands down, the best food that I've ever had in my entire life. If I read that statement from someone else, I would think that they are exaggerating, but I know for a fact that it is wholeheartedly true. Not only was it the best food I've ever had, and I've eaten all around the world, but it was incredibly cheap. We had 20 dishes and our total was $155 USD. Do not listen to any negative reviews about this place. I can't get over how incredible this was, and I rarely EVER review food on a public forum. I just felt that this place deserved my opinion. I live in Los Angeles, Ca and I will be driving here strictly for dinner on a regular basis.

Yelp
Mision 19 is located in an impressive gold LEED certified building. It is beautifully decorated and has private parking. You can reach the restaurant by elevator, just make sure you input the actual floor you are trying to reach before you enter the elevator as there are no buttons inside. I came with a party of friends and they took care of the reservation. We were a few minutes early and they took us in right away. The menu comes in English and Spanish. You can just pull out the pages and flip them over if you need to for translation. Everyone in our party started with cocktails as we looked over the menu. These were all well crafted and delicious. They do have a five or six course chef tasting menu to choose from with or without wine pairings. You can also order a la carte from the menu. The tasting menu is seasonal and does change depending on availability. All of us ordered the chef's six course tasting menu. I have to say I really enjoyed the Mediterranean influence in the food. The only course I was not really a fan of was the scallop parfait, and for me it was more of a texture issue than anything else. Once I mixed it up as instructed, it was just too gritty for my taste. It took away from the scallops, and completely overpowered them. The amuse bouche course of tuna tartare was bursting with so many delightful flavors in one little packed spoonful. It was definitely a favorite. I also especially enjoyed the braised beef. The crunchy lentils were a perfect accompaniment to the buttery, tender beef. I must confess that even though the dishes may look small, I did get full by the time the beef course hit the table. I managed to eat half of it and save a little room for dessert. The bread pudding was carrot flavored after all. It too was delicious. I was happy that I passed on the wine pairings though as I was so full at this point. The service at Mision 19 is excellent. Everyone is very attentive and professional. Isabella B had been here the previous Saturday and asked for them to leave the wine bottles on the table for reference and they just kept bringing full bottles. Her boyfriend made a special request on one of his courses and they were more than accommodating.

Yelp
So grateful to have this place near the border of San Diego! Always great food and outstanding service!
