This has been a long standing favorite among extended family, they have talked about it for years and I finally got to try it. They did not disappoint. It was a charming little restaurant with the friendliest lady running it. She has such a kind and welcoming smile. The food visually is beautiful. Presented with fresh flowers for garnish, it's almost too pretty to eat. The hot and sour soup was perfectly spiced, everything was delicious. I can't wait to go back.

I cannot express enough how AMAZING this place is!! Truly an absolute gem of authentic Shanghai cuisine (as shown by the fact that I was brought here first by Chinese international students who were staying with my family). The whole time we were eating, myself and my parents could not stop raving about how flavorful and enjoyable everything was. I had the vegetable buns and the mapo tofu and this mapo tofu has to have been my favorite I’ve ever had. Every dish was also STUNNING and presented beautifully with such care. It’s a bit on the pricy side, but the portions are huge and everything is so good, I think it is still reasonable. It’s also family run and I would rather give my money to a family-run business like this one. The family who runs it were so nice and clearly passionate about their craft. All this to say, you NEED to go here!! Disregard the reviews about “customer service” from people who don’t have empathy for ESL speakers or for cultural differences and go enjoy some delicious food in a cozy space.

I was first introduced to this restaurant when my wife ordered delivery. The food was fine, but I wasn't impressed at the time. The other day, though, we decided to dine in and went a little early to beat the crowds. The waitress was able to serve dinner in quick order so we could appreciate just how great the food is when it is hot and fresh! As for the menu, I appreciate the variety. I just wish the descriptions had mentioned what vegetables came with each dish. As for the atmosphere, it looks like the place was recently renovated - or, at least, kept exceptionally clean. The cushion for the booth could have been a bit softer, but I was otherwise quite comfortable.

Perfect. My new go-to. Fully accessible, including bathrooms and dietary adjustments to the food! Parking on-site! The restaurant is clean, bright, beautifully decorated, and there are all sorts of different seating options to choose from. Plenty of room for a banquet or large party, wedding rehearsal dinner, and so on. Family restaurant, warm welcome, service and food were *perfect.* Do yourself a solid and order a pot of hot tea. They use whole green tea leaves and the pot stays hot through the entire meal. Full menu of American Chinese food and traditional Chinese food, including plenty of dim sum dishes. I didn't see what I wanted on the menu but I showed them a picture. They not only made it for me, they taught me the name of the dish so I can ask for it next time! (鲜蔬菜豆腐汤 xiān shūcài dòufu tāng, fresh vegetables and tofu soup) The noodles were perfect consistency, spicy, and every dish is enough for two. I've had a lot of great Chinese home cooking and this place topped them all by miles! I can't wait to go back. Did I mention it was perfect?

My family has been coming here for years, and it never disappoints. The owner is so kind and attentive, and the food is authentic and delicious. Definitely a hidden gem!!!

Wow! This was the first word came out my mouth after I tasted the cold pork belly. The sauce was covered with soy sauce and garlic. So refreshing. The pork rice was amazing! Even the veggies inside were delicious 😋

Authentic Shanghai food! The owners are Shanghainese. Hard to find some place like this even in big city. It is a hidden gem in upstate New York. Be sure to check it out!!!

Food was good but it was not a life changing taste. However, it was way too expensive compared to other restaurants. So, if I consider both the taste and price, I would go for the other Chinese restaurants instead. No dine-in option was available at the time of my visit !

I've driven by this place so many times and it's definitely one of those hidden spots that surprises you in the best way. It is bit more pricey so do keep that in mind and look at the menu. The food came out fast, hot, and packed with flavor. Will be back to try more dishes with friends , I recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

My second, maybe third visit to Miss Hot and each time I promise myself I simply must eat here more often! The dishes are always so very tender and tasty - large portions too. The service was more than "good," without being obtrusive. Nothing has been overly spiced or too hot. The menu is composed of both American type Chinese food favorites and more traditional Chinese food dishes. Next time you're in the mood for quality Chinese food in a casual and clean atmosphere, visit Miss Hot!

We ordered our food online. It was easy to order but as we were typing in our order the time for our food changed by 15 minutes. We ordered at 5:15-5:30 and the website said our food would be ready at 6:30. We were only with that. We live about 10-15 minutes away. We were then notified that our food was ready at 6 pm. So.. if we had known we could have left earlier. We ordered Sesame Chicken and Beef Lo mein. Both were delicious. The Hong Kong pork bun was probably authentic but not to our taste. We also didn't realize that rice doesn't come with the dishes. This was our first time ordering from here and we will definitely get more food from them, we will just plan accordingly.

Food is excellent but can be a little pricey for some items. Hot & sour soup was very good. Didn't taste like it came out of a can like most places.

I just switching take out order from two places at covid time. . Mhc and house of gourmet. They both pretty my like. No dine in for both restaurants but pretty busy with dd, gh takeout. I don't have dd or gh acct. when I order, I always pickup.. Bz I want them to get 100% . Dd and gh cut 25% to 30% from restaurants . They are the one who making big money on covid time. We should push ny legislation to cap the % like LA. I always spoke with deliver men and they only earn per hour and tips. Anyway, if you are like spicy dishes , plz try at this place. Mhc should earn more better stars than now. Grand ma and pa from Szexhuan China might not be really great at customers service but they still giving you some of the bests dishes from Szexhuan providence.

Trashy service, ruined my vibes. The lady gives an impatient attitude, does not greets customers. Prices are higher than what's on the menu. Food is the only "ok" thing about this restaurant, it's still not worth it under the bad attitude. Would not come again and would not recommend anyone.

In trying to be a better Yelper, I'll be including photos with my reviews, as able. Today, we had a late lunch/early dinner at Miss Hot Cafe--a place I've had several meals, all of which have been good, and all of which combine to shape this 4 star review. If you've never been here, it's a clean, well lit restaurant, with booths on one side and tables on the other. Service can apparently be somewhat short (read: not the over-the-top, uncomfortably super friendly service you might get at your local Ruby Tuesday's), though I've always felt well taken care of here. You snowflakes need to shush. Meals start with their fried...noodle..chips? With a side of duck sauce? I usually eat one, then push the thing aside. Not my cup of tea, but if you're starving and/or into these things at baseline, then you'll be happy to know these are complimentary. We also got a scallion pancake (nice texture, standard mild flavor) and steamed pork dumplings (appeared freshly made, tasty enough, but not the world's biggest or tastiest) to start. And, dare I say it, we were appetized! Entrees were ma po tofu and my usual spicy beef noodle soup. The tofu dish can be a bit salty from time to time, but today it was great: spicy, a little sour, a little savory. The tofu melts in your mouth, and the leeks are my favorite part (I wish there were more)! And, so as not to lose your ManCard if you order this, there's a sprinkling of ground pork to keep this off the vegetarian list. Phew. The beef noodle soup is dependably good, like Tino Martinez for the Yankees in the mid-late 90s. He wasn't leading the league in home runs or RBIs, and you know that slow bastard wasn't going to steal a base for you, but when he got up to bat, you were fairly confident he would get on base, or at the very least put the ball in play to give his guys a chance...but I digress. The soup has a nice heat, perfect for the colder months. The egg noodles are standard, but there's tons of beef chunks to get your pr0tonZ in for the day, the bok choy gives you, like, some vitamins or whatever, and the seasoning is appropriate without being overbearing. Would be awesome if there were more Szechuan peppercorns in this. Sigh. Still, I'd gladly eat this stuff once a week. Overall: I've probably eaten here ten times, and the fact that I keep going back is worthy of the 4 stars. I can't speak to many of the items on the menu, but it you have the same meal I just laid out for you, you'll leave happy and satiated for a reasonable price.

It's been a hot minute since I came here. They updated their menu and i feel like it has more selections now. It also has better visual. My friends never been here so I took them for the first time after coming back from Toronto. The staffs are friendly and provided good service. The food itself was amazing. I always get the fish in chili soup (don't know the exact menu name), the braised pork, and the eggplant with garlic sauce. They were so good. The portion size for the fish is super big so make sure to share that dish. I suggest getting rice with it. I have to go back again with my boyfriend.

Miss Hot Cafe is the ultimate test for a foodie. Their price is high, they have very shitty management and their food taste really very good. I've been there thrice, the last time being in Oct '18 and my experience has been the same every time. It seems to be a family business, where the owner doesn't give a shit about her customers. Over the years I see the number of workers declining also. Its located on Sheridan Drive near the Walmart and few Indian stores which make it conspicuous. The only reason why perhaps I would still go to this place because I am a foodie, their food is awesome and I have a thick skin towards rude behavior. That being said, I would never bring anyone with me who has a friendly nature and likes talking to the waitress (such as my wife). Recently a friend of mine has been denied to enter simply because she was carrying an almost empty small tetra pack of a fruit juice. Their fish in a bowl is a delight and the quality has not deteriorated in the past five years. So is their lamb stir fry. I am pretty sure that their remaining items are also equally delicious. But I don't know if they are willing to fix their behavior with the customers.

The only two adjectives for this place is great food and bad service. This is my second time here and I ordered crispy lamb fry. It cost $17 and no rice!!! Are you serious? For the quality of meat and proper cooking I wanted to give it 4 stars, but they need to learn hospitality.

Miss hot cafe is good if you are into spicy food. I have been there three times now and I only eat one thing- the fish in spicy seasoning. It comes in a huge pot and will feed four people. You have to order white rice as a side. It doesn't come with it. The mochi is overpriced especially since you can buy a whole box at trader joes for the same price. We have also tried the fried rice which is okay, not great. They have nice dumplings too. And try the cold beef salad too if you can. Oh and the twice cooked lamb. Their service is a little weird. Every time our waitress hardly understands what we say and then some other woman comes and isn't the most polite in the way she talks. This could just be the way she talks though. I say this because she does (in her own way) explains what we should or should not order. Will go back again and again for that fish in spicy seasoning though. -so went back to try the same old stuff. Have the same thing to say. Weird service, great food :)

The big pot is heaven on Earth. A spicy concoction of well-seasoned chicken, fish and veggies --- served in a cauldron sized pot. The order cost around $15, but you can easily split it between two or even three people. This place serves home style sharing-sized portions of food. The best thing to do is order a few things and share it among your party. When we came here, the waitress was friendly and playful. When I inquired about the frog legs, she told me that "I didn't like look like the frog legs type of guy!" I almost wanted to order them right on the spot. However, I really wasn't feeling them and our table ended up getting the: -Smoked fish This dish was cold with the bones still intact, but most of them were so small you could actually eat them. Enjoyed picking at them -- liked the texture and fish. -Garlic Eggplant Our vegetarian dish to share. Eggplant was soaked in marinade -- soy sauce and veggies. It was a nice stir fry with plenty of eggplant. If you're vegetarian or are looking to eat meatless, definitely consider this. -Big Pot See above, but to reiterate. Oh god. This was huge and heavenly. I wanted to pack the spicy oil/broth home and add more stuff to it after I was done with it, but I was afraid of spilling it in my car. Next time, damn it! Delicious meal and great service. The interior is pretty nice as well. Can't wait to come back!

Been looking for a Chinese restaurant to compare with my favourite from Syracuse (Red Chili) and I've found it here at Miss Hot Cafe. We ordered the braised pork ( pork belly ), glass noodles with ground pork ( spicy ), and baby Bok Choi with black mushrooms as our veg. Pork belly was fantastic. The sauce was very tasty and added to the Bok Choi and the hard boiled eggs that come with it too. My favourite dish at Red Chili was very similar to Miss Hot's glass noodles with ground pork. I highly recommend this dish. It's very flavourful and savory. If you like spicy food try it spicy. Veg was great too. Bok Choi and mushrooms had a light tasty sauce and the ratio of mushrooms to Bok Choi was good. (We love mushrooms). The restaurant was beautiful. Tastefully decorated with low volume Chinese pop music playing. The staff were very friendly and attentive. If you want a very quiet dining experience come around 2 for late lunch. They close for an hour at 3:30 so the staff can have lunch. Great restaurant find. Will definitely return. I should note that after ordering 3 items we had 2 boxes of leftovers. This food is served family style so bring a big appetite, order one dish a piece and share, or order 3-4 (as a party of 2) and expect tons of left overs.

This place is a little more expensive for some Chinese food. Not all the items on the menu are authentic Chinese food. The place is pretty clean, service is mediocre, and it has a casual ambiance. The only reason I would go back to this place is for the braised pork dish!! It is to die for with the shanghai bok choy and the tea eggs. Over time, portions did get smaller and the quality did go down a bit, but not a significant change.

I have tried multiple dishes from this place including dumplings, Dan Dan noodles, spicy diced chicken fried rice and most of their dim sum items. The food ranges from okay to good. I still haven't found any dish that would rank 1st as compared to other restaurants that I have tried. But this is still one of the better Chinese restaurants in Buffalo even if the price point is high.

I should preface this review with the following: I am from Taiwan and my parents are both master chefs/foodies, and my mom's parents were originally from Shanghai. Needless to say, I grew up eating a lot of ridiculously good food. I was also just in Shanghai a couple of months ago, so obviously, i know what i'm talking about when it comes to Chinese food. I've heard about Miss Hot Cafe over the years but had no idea that it was Shanghainese cuisine. If i had known that, i would have checked it out sooner. A couple of months ago, hubby and I decided to grab lunch here before running some errands in the area, and while I was a little hesitant due to all the poor reviews, I had to see it for myself. First, if you want super friendly service, go to Friendly's. Second, Chinese people just naturally have BRF (bitchy resting face). And lastly, English is their second language, so things get lost in translation - they may appear to be rude when they actually have no idea they've somehow offended you. So, if you want good food, get off your high horse, grow some thick skin, and stop being so easily offended for no reason. Now back to our visit... the service was not particularly friendly but they were by no means rude. We were greeted and told we could sit anywhere we wanted. We grabbed a booth and perused the menu. We ordered the scallion pancake to start - they said that it was homemade, but it didn't look or taste like it. I'm used to scallion pancakes with lots and lots of scallions - these had little to none. Next appetizer was the marinated gluten, which is something that my mom makes often. The gluten was not soaked properly and therefore wasn't soft enough, but the flavor was ok, a bit too sweet for my liking, but not terrible. Our last appetizer was the sliced beef with hot oil - it was HOT all right. I would say unless you are an experienced "Asian" spicy food eater - do not attempt this dish. We regularly eat a lot of spicy Asian food and this pushed our limit. We ate it with lots of rice and drank lots of iced water, and it was amazing. We asked for extra cilantro to go with it because we are obsessed with cilantro, and it went really well with the beef. For main dishes, we started with the homemade dumplings - lamb. We had just had lamb dumplings in Beijing a few weeks before, so this did not compare. Nevertheless, the dough was good and the flavor was good. TIP - ask for some black vinegar to dip them with, it is so much better than soy sauce. I would like to try some of their other dumplings next time for sure. Our second entree was the braised pork. This is actually one of my mother's signature dishes, and again, this did not compare at all. The pork was tough but the flavor was definitely there. It is the best there is in Buffalo, so I will take what I can get! I wanted some veggies too but unfortunately they didn't have any of the Chinese veggies that day (I don't even know what they're called in English, I asked for them in mandarin), so we had to settled for sauteed string beans. They were good, though I really wanted some leafy greens. Our server was a younger girl, very quiet but polite, and did everything we asked. This place definitely has more of the authentic Chinese food in the Buffalo area (other places include Golden Duck and Gin Gin - but different types of Chinese cuisine). I look forward to going back to try some of their other dishes.

Drove all the way from Niagara Falls. The website and Google say dine-in. There was a sign in the window that read "Take Out Only". We walked in to confirm and were greeted by a woman at the other end of the restaurant yelling at us "Take Out Only". We walked out. Waste of gas and time. Gas is too expensive to waste.

I think I like their food. I prefer "simple" Chinese food than Americanized Chinese food so... All food had good taste and it definitely worth paying:) some mention about price and I agree slightly but it's way better than other Americanized Chinese. The only thing I was feeling awkward was that the waitress never smiled.lol

Honestly the food is so good here I could care less about the service! They did not treat us poorly just not overly friendly like most American restaurants and I think most people are not used to that and consider anything less than to be poor service. They served us quickly and were never rude. We ordered the Shanghai dumplings, a spicy cabbage dish and a dish with glass noodles and pork. The food was amazing although a bit pricey and I will be returning for sure! I think people have to understand that overly friendly hospitality in restaurants is a very American thing and some cultures do not do that even if it means higher tips.

Recently had lunch at the restaurant. I ordered the eggplant pot/casserole. It came in a fancy serving dish and was delicious. My husband had the fish and sour cabbage soup. He thought it was very good, as well. I had to order a side of rice, because my eggplant didn't come with any. The waitress was very nice. We would definitely go back.

Bad customer service. We just want to ask some small bowl in order to share our soup (which is in a really big bowl). However, the waitress said they DO NOT have bowl for us to share. After that we try the tell the owner about the situation and wish they to make improvement on their service. The owner even didn't listen to us and push us to pay for the tips (18% for 6 ppl), which they said is a law. We are so disappointed about the service and is not acceptable they even don't want take any suggestion on their service. I will NEVER go to MISS HOT CAFÉ again.

So I've been coming here ever since it opened but I felt like I needed to update this review for two (2) reasons... 1. The prices have gone up 2. The services have gone down The food... tastes about the same and so I won't revisit that part. I mean it's tasty and that's what makes me go back. But more and more I'm wondering if I'll have to curtail my patronage because I've been not too happy with their rising prices and dropping service quality. The prices going up doesn't need to much explanation. Basically they took the most popular dishes and added a dollar or two... and/or they reduced the amount of food. The service going down is a BIG no-no to me. I can sort of understand the economics of prices going up (though I'm not in favor of that). But the service going down is #whacksauce! There's no effort on the part of the wait staff to preemptively deal with things that a customer might need: napkins, cups, spoons... etc. Whenever we do have to ask for these items I've been met with rolling of the eyes, visual displays of frustration or simply no response (like not getting me what I asked for). Some might comment "we're gonna have to be one of those tables tonight" and I'm thinking "no we don't." We're not asking for miracles. We're asking for prompt service and a good attitude. Don't wanna be pestered for napkins? Bring a bunch out the first time we ask. Don't want to go back for more spoons? Count the number of people and count the number of spoons when you go get them. Don't like refilling pots of tea? Bring out two or three. Anyway.... like I said. The food is good. I like it... I don't like the service. Will I go back? Eh... probably but I'll think twice before I do.

Oh my goodness, where have you BEEN these past few years, Miss Hot Cafe?? Ever since moving to Buffalo, I've longed for the Chinese food of yore, classic staple dishes cooked up or stir-fried in the way only a high-heat, Chinese restaurant wok can. Some restaurants have come close - May Jen has fairly authentic dishes, and Kung Food offers some solid Taiwanese style eats - but none have been able to evoke the warm fuzzies that dining in a sit-down Chinese restaurant brings me quite the way Miss Hot Cafe does. I think it's a combination of atmosphere, taste, and the nice owner lady! First off, the menu is classic, from its presentation to the menu items themselves. It is hand written, with notes jotted down in some sections and dishes crossed out with red pen in others. One section isn't even in English, but don't let that deter you, just ask and the staff are glad to help! It is divided into soups, small sides, different meats, veggies, and specials, and it offers everything you'd expect, from scallion pancake and dumplings, to game and seafood, to various tofu dishes, to veggies. You won't find an overabundance of fried rice or stir fried noodle specials here; Miss Hot Cafe's menu highlights a separate main ingredient in each dish, meant to be eaten over white rice. And tea and rice are on the house, just the way it should be! Food tastes excellent. Unlike a lot of other Chinese places I've been to in Buffalo, each dish has unique flavor. Their ingredients are also very authentic - bamboo shoots, wood ear, chili peppers, and scallions accompany the main proteins with not a wayward bell pepper, water chestnut, or baby corn to be found! My friend and I have had the crispy lamb, string beans, family tofu, scallion pancake, and Sichuan tofu soup so far, and I am pleased to say that we loved every single dish. On top of everything, the owner lady is SUPER nice, and service is excellent!! N.B. This is a family style sit down restaurant, and it's reflected in the portion sizes. Best way to eat here is to come with a party of 4 or more, order one dish per person, and share! You'll definitely get your fill, plus some food leftover. Of course, you can do what I did, too: come with a friend, order 4 mains between the two of us, and eat like there's no tomorrow. N.B. #2 (for vegetarians): As with most Chinese places, just cause a dish is listed under the "vegetable" section, doesn't mean it's vegetarian. "Vegetable dish" literally just means that the main ingredient is a vegetable. That said, if you ask them not to add meat, they will gladly accommodate. I can personally attest that flavor is not compromised.

Thia was my second time there and I had the same experience as the first time. The quality of service is very bad. It looks like a family run business. The waitress was very rude and after we're done ordering, she almost snatched the menus from our hands. Another thing I felt that the food was overpriced and it does not come with any side rice. This time I ordered spicy beef noodle and it was not seasoned at all. I had to add salt twice and soy sauce to get to a normal salt level. I think the food quality has declined over the years.

Another excellent Asian eatery in this area of town makes me happy. Not only was the food delicious but the service was friendly, funny, and accommodating. Plus you know you're in good hands when all tables aside from your table is occupied by Asians. We ordered a ton of food to split between the 4 of us. My family is not adventurous at all so we mostly ordered off of the front part of the menu, aside from the Hong Kong Noodles I got. We ordered egg roll, spring roll, won ton soup, crab rangoon, Hong Kong noodles (with chicken), sweet and sour chicken, pepper steak with onion, and finally Kung Pao chicken. Everything was excellent and not at all greasy or overpowering. The spring rolls were crispy and tasty. The Rangoon was crispy and I loved the real crab but they were a little sweet for my taste. The won ton soup was my favorite in WNY. The dumplings in it seem homemade. Much lighter won ton than most heavy dough won tons. Plus, there was more than enough for 4 people to share. It was a huge portion. I loved that! Yum yum yum. I want more. Haha! The main dishes were awesome. Hong Kong noodles were great and made without celery as I requested. The pepper steak was probably my favorite of the night. Thin sliced, tender beef, fresh peppers and onions, perfectly cooked with great consistency. My mom said she loved it because it wasn't "slimy". I know exactly what she's talking about... It was so good! The Kung Pao was actually really good too! I don't normally love this dish because of all of the celery used in it but this was so good. Chicken was probably thigh meat but wasn't fatty. It was very good and had a great flavor. The sweet and sour chicken (basically chicken nuggets) I could have done without but it's my sister's favorite. My compliments are that the fried coating was really crispy and light. Not thick like at some places. And the chicken was good quality white meat. The meal was completed with a plate of sliced kiwi and fortune cookies. And tons of leftovers and full bellies. I can't wait to come back and try more menu items! Maybe the next time I will come with more adventurous eaters...

Food: 4/5 Their food is good and always consistent. Not mind blowing, but they deliver when I'm craving authentic Chinese food. They have 2 separate menus. The front portion caters to "americanized" chinese food while the second half of the menu serves up more authentic food. Service 1/5 However, service is always a struggle. Sometimes, I contemplate whether it is worth coming here to deal with their poor service. One time, when we ordered a beef dish, the waitress claimed that we said pork. WRONG. Our entire table confirmed that we ordered the pork. By the time we finished eating, they served us the last remaining dish.

I liked this place when I was able to have the dim sum, but unfortunately I'm counting my carbs, so had to order something else. I decided on the chicken curry, which is pretty simple and similar across the board. Not here. This slop came out in a 9" Pyrex pie plate and was full of potatoes, big chunks of carrots, and every piece of chicken was gristly and coated with flour or cornstarch which absorbed the curry sauce and sat on the chicken like a paste. So much for carbs. Seriously though, I ate very little and left he rest. Hubs thought his was good, but put a big bowl of spicy meat broth in front of him and he's a happy man. Not a fan.

Excellent food. With most of the Asian student population from UB coming here, I would say that it is authentic. Having the won ton soup, Happy Family, with shrimp fried rice. Excellent lunch specials and a daring section of the menu that has some pretty bizarre offerings. I love to be adventurous, but my wife doesn't.

Thankfully didn't have a bad service as warned by other customers (and even my cousin who took us warned us ahead of time that sometimes the service is horrendous here). The waitresses were actually on top of their game this night and refilled my water without me even having to ask. The food was pretty good. A bit on the oily and fattening side (a bit salty also) but otherwise, decent since I don't know this area of China's food that well (I'm from HK). Their spicy dishes can be very spicy just to warn you depending on what you get. We got a pot with fish in it that was super spicy. I love this place!!! Decent price. Large space, good for big group parties. Awesome food. Tons of choices. REALLY SPICY food if you want to challenge them, at the same time they have tons of non spicy food (really 0 spiciness, I hate places that say non spicy but still spicy). Authentic Chinese food. Love it:)

I've been to this restaurant twice now, and the experience was just OK. This past time I went I had the boiled dumplings and Singaporean noodles. Now although the dishes are not quite up-to-snuff of things you can find in Flushing, it is one of the better varieties of more "authentic" Chinese cuisine in the Buffalo area. The noodles were tasty, and the portions are generous for the price. It seemed to linger somewhere between single portions and family style. Overall a pleasant food experience. Nothing much I can complain about here because after all, this is Buffalo and not Flushing. My only complaint about this restaurant, similar to other reviews is the service. Although it wasn't down right terrible, it could use some improvement. It was difficult to get the server's attention when we needed a refill on our tea, even though we attempted to flag her down by waving our hands in the air, she acted like she didn't see us and had tunnel vision. Not the most friendly service, but nothing that would really prevent me from coming back. Is the food here worth the not-so-great service? Probably. Simply because there aren't so many restaurants like this in the area. This one is kind of a toss-up for me.

Food: Nice and authentic. Food served here will be spicy if you ask for it. Price: $$, its expensive. Prices of food are way too high. Ambience: Nice, simple & clean. Service: Owner and waitress of this place is nice but it wont cost them anything if they carry a smile on their face. :)

My God has this place gone to the birds. What an awful experience spicy lamb dish had so much cumin in it , I thought I was eating Indian food. I ordered everything that I would have ordered in the past. One bug disappointment was they no longer offer the spicy potatoes with vinegar that was an awesome dish too bad it's no longer available. Everything was off withmthe seasoning, temperature, just bad food they either don't care any longer about making good food or they lost their chef. Either way I wasted $120.00 on food I literally want to throw in the garbage. The dim sum was microwaved , it was probably the worst I've ever eaten . Never thought such a good restuarant would decline so much. I'm so disappointed, the place was empty on a Friday night at 7:30 that's a dead give away that somethings wrong. What a waste!

Probably best authentic Chinese food in Buffalo area, they have Sichuan and Shanghainess food, which are both good. My family often come to here for dinner or lunch, take-outs. Loved their signature soy cooked pork (which is meaty and delicious), and spicy broiled fish.

The best place to get Traditional Chinese food in the Buffalo Area. Beware that they sometimes close at random times including during business hours. I would highly recommend calling ahead to confirm that they are open. Great food, the ma po Tofu is to die for!! Disappointed at the customer service but I've seen worse customer service. Highly recommend this place.

Wow, I was just telling my wife about this place and she told me the reviews were bad. 3 starts really? I'm giving all the Stars to Miss Hot. My coworkers have been going here for years and they took me here today. It is amazing, the service is very very good, I felt like I was at my grandmothers house or something. The hostess was very nice. And the food was amazing. Everyone loves the food and this wasn't just Chinese they have a great selection large portions and the art of plating the food is on point. I got the sour garbage and fish soup and I've never had soup that was that good. I'm going back with my family and telling everyone I know. One last thing if you like it hot you have doing the right place.

Very bad service!!! I bring my own lemon water, once we chose our seat, they just told us drink from outside is forbidden! And, when we wanna change our seat to the couch, at that time there have two couches available, we asked if we could change to the couch? They said no! Once u chose ur seat, u cannot change! This is the only restaurant doing things so ridiculous I had ever seen before!

Worst restaurant in buffalo. I have a friend who worked there told me they reuse the oil and pepper, so disgusting. Will not go again. Unhygienic.

If I could give zero stars I would. Arrived on a Saturday afternoon at 3:15. Sign on the door indicated closed from 3:30 to 4:30. Was turned away at the door. Owner said they were at lunch. Showed her the time on my phone...3:15 0 for hospitality 0 for a welcoming environment 0 for chances I will return. 100 percent chance I will tell anyone thinking of this place not to bother.

I'm drenched in sweat, my eyes are tearing, my face is bright red, my tongue is throbbing and I CAN'T STOP EATING!!! I decided to start with a snippet removed from mid-review as it truly describes the wonderfully cleansing eating experience at Miss Hot Cafe, the greatest thing to happen to Amherst, New York since Satish Mohan (much love Satish...much love). Miss Hot Cafe is a brand new Shanghaiese and Sichaun restaurant offering a wide variety of traditional fare. With that said, as your review the menu, please skip through the first few pages as they are meant for the ignorant gwai lo. (Though I too am gwai lo...I'd like to consider myself not of the ignorant variety). As you begin to peruse the wonderful variety of cold appetizers, it is clear that this place is unique. Other restaurants in town offer traditional fare like Peking Quick One and Gin Gin. However, this menu is by far the most extensive on Traditional fare, most approachable to the non-Mandarin reading diner, and the interior/tables are really nice and clean (unlike the aforementioned). You've probably heard rumors of the secret Chinese menu, written in hanzi and completely unavailable to the average Westerner, unless of course they've implanted a Babel fish. Well times have changed and Miss Hot Cafe has completely incorporated the secret Chinese menu and revels in its glory. To give you an idea of the rarity of the offerings let us start with the cold marinated gluten. Gluten is similar to (if not the same thing as) seitan in texture (like a chewy and porous bread). They take gluten, marinade it in (black vinegar, soy and oil? I'm guessing here) and serve it with peanuts and black fungus. Highly recommended as a unique and great starter to cool your palate for the hot intensity that is yet to come. I tried to order the cold marinaded duck (for my 8 year old (turning 9 this week...he made me write that) dining companion who adamantly believes that one can not enjoy a Chinese meal without some duck on the table), but they were out of it that evening. Loving Sichuan cuisine, and rarely enjoying such fare locally, I decided to indulge in the spicy dishes. To save the little fella from gastro-intestinal torture I ordered him some Hong Kong Noodles (which were quite delicious). I indulged in Crispy Lamb, stir fried string beans, and the pièce de résistance: the shredded beef in chili oil. The Crispy Lamb came out first and was not crispy (that was not a problem). It was a spicy stir fried lamb with cumin seeds and a lot of chilis. There was definitely an Indian influence on this dish, and it was spectacular. The flavor of the lamb was not overpowered by the strong and generous use of spice. This dish was hot, but was nothing compared to what would follow. Next up was the "Vegetarian" Stir-fried string beans (with minced salted pork). This is one of my favorite dishes only served locally at Golden Duck. The pork was not as salty as Golden Duck's, which was fine with me, but it was certainly much spicier. This is one of those ideal dishes that combine fresh crunchy string beans only lightly fried, which are balanced and salted with...wait for it...meat. I love it. Ingenious. Suck it vegetarians...another win for the carnivores. Now for the star of the evening, a buxom, operatic diva who's splendor is only rivaled by her spine tingling skill. The star of this evening was the shredded beef served in a rich, deeply spicy broth of chili oil (can you call it broth when it is only oil and rendered beef fat?), with a health smattering of whole hot chilis, cilantro and Asian cabbage (almost like a non-fermented Kim Chi). What makes this dish phenomenal is that it is so over the top. The beef is basically cooked in hot chili oil (a LOT of very hot, deep red chili oil). Think of the French technique of confit only take out the refrigerating in its own fat for a week. Instead of deep frying the meat, the oil makes the meat super soft and tender, imbuing it with additional tongue searing heat and savory fat. It was amazing...and made me pour out sweat. The hot broth had me inhaling searing chili fumes which turned me into a tearing mess. My wee dining companion could not help but laugh at me in my disheveled state. Keep this in mind, that this is certainly not a good spot for a date night or even a night with a wee dining companion, unless of course you like being ridiculed by an 8 year old (turning 9 this week...again he made me write that). I was so impressed with this meal (and ridiculously high on serotonin and endorphins after eating all of those chilis) that I basically raved about the food to the waiter (to the point he started to back away from the table) and told him this was my new favorite local restaurant. I've never said that on a first visit, perhaps that alone speaks volumes. Try out Miss Hot Cafe, bring your towel and don't panic. So long and thanks for all the fish.

So we walked in. We were the only non-Asians there. Good sign. The waitress was so nice to us, explaining everything on the menu on the "authentic" side. I pointed to a picture and asked what it was, she said she didn't think I would like it and explained why. Ok I asked what another thing was, she said everybody loves that one. So I got it, it was wonderful. Don't bother ordering from the American-Chinese side, we have endless American style Chinese restaurants here. The wife also ordered something wonderful. It had eggplant. I loved how patient the waitress was, how she explained things and nice she was. Extra large tip for great service. This was a delight.

The service was terrible AF!!! The lady who own this restaurant looks so mean like everyone owns her 1 million dollars. They kick people out when they have "lunch" without saying "sorry" or "come back later". The food was okay, but i felt so uncomfortable just sitting here.

I don't spend much time in this neighborhood but since there was a Yelp International Supper Club set up here so I thought I would give it a try. I was there with 6 others. We all ordered our own entrees but the portions were mostly large enough to share with 2 people. I usually go for more adventurous food but I was on a budget today which more or less dictated my choices. I ordered: Pork Egg Roll $1.50 Wonton Soup $4.50 Hong Kong Pan Fried Noodles with chicken $8.95 Just looking at that list, I'll admit, I ordered boring food. But the menu at this place was super large and had some pretty insane things on it which set my expectations pretty high (ex. jellyfish appetizer, frog leg claypot) The Egg Roll was good, it had a lot less cabbage filler in it than a normal one would and I was able to taste the meat. The Wonton Soup was pretty tasteless and standard but it did have about 10 wontons instead of 3 in it. Though, I'm not sure if there was actually anything inside of about half of them. The noodle dish that I ordered was huge but lacked flavor and had very little meat in it. A photo on the menu depicted a version of this with shrimp in it, plated inside a deep round bowl and garnished with a lime. I was expecting the chicken version to be just as beautiful but it did not. (I guess it did come with a ginger flower so that was something, but not at useful as the lime would have been) The service was very strange too. The server was very confused about questions we asked her about the food. She had multiple issues splitting a check when it was a pretty standard request being made. Maybe it was a language barrier? I'm not sure. There's just really nothing that could pull me back into being a customer here.

I've come here a few times and both times were great! The first time I came with Brad and a friend of his. The great thing about getting food with 2 chefs is you know you're going to try the weirdest foods. Thus, we got salt and pepper frog legs, braised pork, and the Shanghai Dumplings. The dumplings were to-die-for! I would definitely get them again. As well as the frog legs. Perfectly breaded and well seasoned. I now am going to order frog legs whenever I see them! I also brought my friend here. She is a little less adventurous. We both ordered the crab ragoon and sesame seed chicken. Another excellent dish! It was easily 3 meals for me! I will definitely come here again!

This place is no joke! I've waited to post on this restaurant until I had a proper tasting of their menu. What I like the most about Miss Hot Cafe is the friendly atmosphere and service. It must be good if every time I dine in here I'm the only white person in the place, right? My favorite apps are the Ox tongue & tripe with spicy pepper, Shanghai dumplings and scallion pancake. The ox tongue dish will definitely make you sweat before your meal arrives - make sure you have plenty of water. The dumplings, oh those dumplings, they,re juicy and just plain delicious. The second you bite into them you get an explosion of juicy goodness and the pork inside is so good. Thus far my favorite entrees would have to be the shanghai shrimp, braised pork, and the salt & pepper frog legs. The shrimp is deep fried in the shell and is covered in a garlic and panko bream crumb mixture. Its crunchy, flavorful and cooked to perfection. The braised pork is cooked in some type of BBQ sauce and comes with a deep fried hard boiled egg and sauteed bok choy. If you're feeling froggy then the s&p frog legs might be your thing. They're broken down and two sections of the leg and fried until they are perfectly moist. Do yourself a favor and give Miss Hot Cafe a try

Poor service and pricey menu. The presentation of that dishes is very elaborate and probably the best part of the meal experience. I'm not an expert on Chinese food, but was left quite unimpressed. Not likely to return.
