Mission Bay Wine & Cheese

Was looking for a place with an interesting wine selection where I could do some work after finishing a course. This fit the bill! Tidy, bright urban interior, lots of space, WiFi… and dogs allowed indoors! Enjoyed a great natural orange wine and a low intervention red, bartender was friendly and pointed me in the direction of other natural wine bars in the city when he learned of my interests. They have a fun bottle shop selection too if you need to grab a bottle to go. I am female and was traveling solo, felt totally safe walking to and from here by myself in evening as well.

Excellent wine and beer selection. Everyone is so helpful in figuring out what to go for. Highly recommend for a night out.

February 2022: Stopped by for happy hour where food and drinks are 10% off from 2pm to 5pm. Tried a few 2oz wine tasters and was happy with the options. The turkey avocado sandwich and kale Caesar salad were very good. Would definitely come back again for more delicious food. February 2020: Stopped by for happy hour and enjoyed the cheese plate with charcuterie and some fine wine! Very diverse selection of 🍷 on the Happy Hour menu. Service was great and would definitely come back again 👍.

Phenomenal spot-top notch wine and spirits selections, killer cheese & charcuterie...and to be overlooked draft beer offering including multiple Alvarado Street taps. Check out their Ferry Plaza and Oxbow Napa locations for even more curated excellence.

UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE Charcuterie board & grilled cheese took more than a half hour to come out. When we got the food there was a giant grasshopper in the salad. The lady didn’t seem very surprised and literally took all the food from our table. Saying “I will comp this for you” but still took everything out from under us … as we were eating- we waited so long for our food and we we’re starving, so my husband asked me “do you want to order something else?” And the waitress interupted and said “oh no no it’s okay” and said “why don’t you grab yourself a chocolate bar on the way out” . Appalling. Very strange behavior.

Amazing selection of wine & cheese! Came here twice already & always greeted with friendly staff. Prices are fair for both wine & cheese. Definitely recommend their happy hour & special tasting events!

I ABSOLUTELY love this place. Let's start with the food and wine selection. They have a great wine selection with a great price range (anywhere from $12 to $300 bottles) and a great geographic representation. I also love that they have so many fun wine events (e.g., they have pair the wine to the country tastings which definitely sound fun). The food is AMAZING. They have so many great fresh cheeses and meats that they incorporate into their sandwiches and charcuterie boards. I personally had the prosciutto Apple Brie sandwich which was PERFECTION. The bread was perfectly toasted and the sweetness of the apple paired so well with that Brie and prosciutto (I added some fig jam to my sandwich at home - it was a game changer!) The restaurant itself is also very spacious and accommodating of larger groups. The staff is friendly and always walking around to see if you need any guidance.

We came here for a date night and loved it! The wine bar is situated in the back of the wine store and has a wide selection of food, wine, and light bites. We got the worker's board and two glasses of wine. I was in the mood for a fruity red, so I had the board track racer Cabernet. It was exactly what I was looking for - medium bodied and not overly acidic. For the board, we especially enjoyed the pairing of fig jam and Brie. Service was fast, and the ambience was casual and not too packed for a Friday evening. Would definitely return for another wine and cheese moment or to check out their happy hour!

I've lived so close to Mission Bay Wine and Cheese and I just tried it for the first time yesterday- I wish I came here earlier! It looks small from the outside but there's lots of seating, even bar seating too! I loved the interior, made it a great place for a date or to catch up with friends in a quieter setting than a typical bar. The staff was so friendly and attentive too. They also have a wine club where you can get monthly bottles of wine shipped to you. There's different levels, but I ended up getting the 2bottles of wine for $40 a month. They also have other perks like no corkage, discounts etc. Ask your waiter if you're interested!

Lovely spot in the mission bay; very cozy and welcoming atmosphere - a combo of a shop with dine in and a bar. Had a reservation for 3 on Saturday at 3pm but it wasn't needed; not too many people at all at that time (but it is happy hour so items are 10% off)! The staff was so friendly; the place is pet friendly as well so my friends brought their dog and the staff gave them a little meat scrap treat which was so nice!! We ordered the hummus and workers board as snacks. For wine we tried the Field Recordings (orange), erste + neue, domini veneti as well as some other reds. The drinks come as 2 oz, 5 oz, carafe or bottle. Overall had a great time catching up with friends over some wine cheese and bread!

One of the things I love about SF as a whole is that the whole city is extremely dog-friendly, even at wine bars and restaurants, and Mission Bay Wine & Cheese is no exception! Deeply appreciate the owners/managers of the local shop for how accommodating and welcoming they were to my medium-large old girl and my friend's large retriever mix - They brought our dogs their own little charcuterie plates (one per dog!) and some bites of cheese (all with our permissions, of course). This shop is a true gem in Mission Bay with a swanky modern feel, fresh charcuterie/cheese/veggie platters and an amazing selection of wine (I have not disliked anything I've bought or that they have recommended to me during this dine-in experience). They also sell a great selection of yummy, quality crackers, jams, cheeses, meats, etc. which I believe is what they are also serving in the store (again, nothing ever disappoints!). If someone (who loves wine) is looking for a chill wine and cheese night with some friends or a chill date, this is the spot to go! Friendly staff, clean and amazing ambiance, and stellar, high quality food and drinks!

I walk by the Mission Bay Wine & Cheese shop multiple times a week and have been wanting to visit for a really long time. I was here to catch up with some friends. No reservations needed. There's plenty of seating. You have the option to order a glass of wine or a flight. There are some small bites as well. I tried the orange wine, made from grape skin, because it was interesting and I've never had it before. We also ordered the hummus and the workers board. Orange wine: light, tangy, taste hits the top on your tongue but not a lot of depth, washes down almost like a light juice or water. Not for me but was definitely interesting. Hummus and workers board: something I could make at home but enjoyable to share while drinking wine with friends. They have plenty of wine options so next time I'll have to ask for recommendations. Great for a chill happy hour (every day 2-5pm) and you get 10% off drinks.

This is our neighborhood/go to Giants game Wine bar. You can buy a bottle from the store and drink it at the wine bar or enjoy their glass and flight menu. If you're not a wine lover they also have a few fridges of beer and some on tap as well. The selection of everything is always changing, so you're always in for "something new".

You have the option of either ordering a wine that is on the menu or you can certainly walk around the wine store and pick a bottle - $15 corkage fee. Lots of wines to choose from, and even a discount section. Comfortable ambience and popular even on a Sunday [late] afternoon - went after 5pm. They have a wine club (monthly, quarterly) that gives you 15% off bottles, invite to events but no complimentary tastings. Service was efficient but not particularly friendly

We got to the area early for the Warriors game, so we had time to walk around and see a few places. This was a cute store with a wine bar inside. I really like the atmosphere and love to see when dogs are allowed inside places. There seemed to be a good diversity of ages of guests as well. We shared the Smoked Burrata & Sliced Bresaola with crostini, which was a nice nibble for $23.

Absolutely love this place! I come in to pick up a bottle or two every other week, and bring a friend to drink and eat sometimes. Food is always delicious, I'm obsessed, I tell everyone to go here. Do yourself a favor and get the meredith dairy for a starter plate! Staff is always so friendly and knowledgeable about the wine and the cheese/meat selections. Also clean and nice vibe in there. Great for a date night or catching up w friends. Definitely recommend!

Pretty good place for lunch. They have a 10% discount on food orders from 2pm to 5pm. The Monger's Choice comes with 3 rotating cheeses, fig jam, baguette, cornichons, dried fruits, and nuts. It's thanks to this cheese board that I found the treasure that is "La Tur." There's also a variety of sandwiches to order. While you're waiting for your lunch order there's a plenty of wines, cheeses, chips, and chocolates to peruse. Although their cheeses are good, it could be overpriced. The Meredith Dairy marinated cheese sold here is $14, whereas if you walk across the street to Gus's it's only $10. But overall a nice addition to this neighborhood.

Such a cute neighborhood wine shop with an amazing selection! I've been here several times now, for flight nights with visiting Napa Valley wineries, to grab a glass of wine at the bar, and even to shop for wine and items for my charcuterie boards at home. The front of the store consists of a huge selection of wine, spirits, and food items. The back part of the store is where the bar is. They have tons of beer in the fridges in the back. I've been to the flight night with Long Meadow Ranch and the one with Duckhorn Portfolio, and I really enjoyed both of these events. I personally like rosé and white wines, but the flights during these nights were heavier on the reds. Typically during flight nights, visiting wineries bring a few workers and a selection of their wines. The workers they bring are usually pretty friendly, and they walk around asking if you have any questions about the wine. There's an option to purchase a flight, or just a single glass of something. I've only tried one food item off of the menu - the Monger's Choice. This is $21 and comes with baguette, dried fruit, Spanish cocktail mix, cornichons, Greek fig spread, and three cheeses: truffle tremor, goat chevre, and tomarashi. I loved the baguette. It was warm and crackly and just a loaf of carby goodness, perfect with the goat chevre + honey. Note that this is the only vegetarian cheese and charcuterie option on the menu. I'd really like to try their grilled veggie panini one day!! Fun facts/pro tips: - They have several wine clubs you can join, and you also get a bit of a discount on tastings if you're a member - The co-owners are also co-owners and managing partners of Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant in the Ferry Building and Oxbow Cheese & Wine in Napa - They're opening a Mission Bay Wine & Cheese location at Chase Center - I've seen them on Too Good To Go

We found this place by our hotel and decided to go there to waste some time. What a great find! We weren't able to spend a whole lot of time there due to prior commitments but I wish we could have. The manager was great very accommodating. Cool place for sure. Nice selection of wines and very reasonable. Check it out!

The best lunch spot! I had the triple cheese sandwich, with tomatoes and arugula added. Came with a nice salad, and a very tasty dressing. Priced at only $12! And the staff is extremely friendly.

It's a nice place for after work drinks or a casual early night with friends. They have an extensive wine collection at the front and a bar towards the back. The staff is extremely friendly and very knowledgable, so do ask them for recommendations! The cheese platter was perfect to share among 4 people. Lots of snack options available too. I'll be back to try one of their wine flights night events!

Are you looking for a well priced happy hour, with affordable wine, delicious cheese, cured meats, and homemade truffle butter? If you answered YES, to any of those, Mission Bay Wine & Cheese is sure to please. With the cold weather, the typical trek to Sparq Social was out of the question. A friend that lives near by saw that this place had opened up, and I'm glad she made the suggestion. The happy hour had a a few wines for $6-8, and not being the biggest wine fan, what I tried was delicious. They have a pretty extensive wine and beer list, so it's sure to please any fan of either libation. If snacks are more your primary focus, they have a great selection of cheese and charcuterie. The list of different burratas is what caught my eye, especially the truffle burrata. Each order comes with sliced bread (wish they toasted it) to smoother the cheese on. Mind you they use Acme bread, which is my all time favorite bread. The one item on the menu that will keep me coming back is their homemade truffle butter. The truffle butter is out of this world. Smooth, spreadable, and freshly whipped, it made my eyes roll back. Add this to the bread and top it with the burrata, and you have heaven on a piece of bread. When we went, they had just made it fresh, and I'm so glad they had it available. The staff was incredible, and they have some aspiring sommeliers working pouring, so if you have trouble picking a wine, they'll be able to help you out! The vibes inside are pretty chill. Plenty of bar seating with a few tables. Perfect for small group gatherings. Need something to go? There's a wine store attached to it, along with quick bites to take home with you.

Love this place! Amazing wine food and people. Super friendly owners, bought my dog along and she got a lot of pets from people around. A nice place to unwind after a long week. Will be back soon!

So good! Did an event here, super easy to work with, great flights turned into a mini tasting, separate checks, amazing suggestions about other glasses, wine club and also food. Amazing cheese boards and great service, very reasonable prices as well, will be back!

Great place to chill with friends or a date to enjoy some wine and salami. Their charcuterie board is good to share for post-dinner or afternoon happy hr between two people. They also have a sizable wine selection for the first half of the store for you to pick up a bottle as well as a selection of other cured meats/cheese to choose from if you want to have some cut up to take home.

What a fun spot! My friend and I dropped in randomly and shared a bottle of delicious white wine! My friend bought gifts for her family and I bought myself an awesome photo print from the owner himself from his travels to Italy. They have plenty of gifts, wine, cheese, etc. and they're dog friendly!

The absolute best and we love coming here. It has a wonderful staff and we enjoy just hanging out. Food is great but the wine is the best.

We LOVE this place! Found it through yelp while looking for a good lunch place with a wine selection. Talk about amazing. The Ceasar salad was to die for and the wine selection vast and delicious. We had a wonderful time. The person helping us up front gave us the best recommendations for wines, whiskeys, and restaurants to go to for a fine dining experience. Thank you so much - we adore this place and cannot return.

This place is what all wine shops should to aspire to. They have a great solution of unique wines with a great staff to help navigate. The cheese selection was great too. There is a liquor room with just the right selection of bottles. I got a couple bottles at the complete discretion of the staff and have been very happy. Took a sandwich to go and it was perfect too.

Absolutely fantastic food and service. I needed catering for a last-minute event (less than 48 hours) and they were able to accommodate and deliver 10 individual cheese plates. Everything came individually packed, so it was easy to re-plate for our event. Everything was delicious, and several of our guests raved about the brie in particular. Shout out to Chris for making it happen.

I finally get to write one of those "This place is amazing but part of me wants to keep it a secret and all to myself" reviews! I'm not a wine OR cheese person, so can't speak for to those (though even to my untrained eye, the selection looks very high quality), but the salads and sandwiches here are sooo good. Their chopped salad is better than places that actually specialize in salads. I love that they mix in Dino kale and include just the right amount of baguette. Their grilled veggie panini is also really great. Can't wait to try more items! Each time I've gone in, I've been helped with a smile and enthusiasm. So glad I live nearby!

We are big fans of MB W&C and enjoy each and every visit so much that we bring in as many friends as we can so they can enjoy the experience, too. From the carefully curated retail side of the business to the wonderful wine bar Peter and Debbie have created. We feel fortunate to have such a warm and welcoming establishment right here in Mission Bay. The food and service are fantastic. The Flight Nights are fun, too. This note would not be complete without sharing how much we adore Benjamin. His heart and passion for this business shine through like a klieg light at midnight. We trust his judgment and suggestions and love learning more about all they carry on both sides of the house. He is a wonderful ambassador of MB W&C. Please support this neighborhood gem. Owned by the same team behind the Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant, this wine & cheese shop has a wine bar and cheese section, beyond the vast selection of wine and spirits. The team is super knowledgeable and friendly. Their new location here is beautiful, spacious and bright. Located directly across the street from Gus's Community Market and steps away from Oracle Park, this will be the new hot spot in mission bay. Officially opening 11/21 Thursday afternoon! p.s. Amazing Italian burrata cheese that normally retails for $15 is now available for $7, only because they bought too much as a result of the delayed opening. Stop by and get some while supplies last.

So glad they're doing takeout orders right now! There's outdoor seating but I highly recommend picking up food and some drinks and having a picnic at Mission Creek Park across the street if it's a nice day! The chopped salad is HUGE and delicious. It would be a very filling meal for 1, but my boyfriend and I shared it, along with a turkey avocado sandwich (which we didn't realize also came with a side salad), so we had quite a bit of food. The sandwich was also a good size, the baguette was tasty and toasted just the right amount. There was some sort of sweet dressing in the sandwich that was really good-- I'm not sure if it was onion jam, but it definitely made the sandwich. All in all, we were very impressed with the quality of the food! If you don't want to wait, you can order from their website ahead of time but the interface isn't great so I'd recommend just calling it in. The staff is super helpful and friendly!

I love to shop for my wines here! They offer the best wine in the city and their prices were very fair, too. They also had a place here to chill with your friends while having the best sip of wine. They also had pastries and macaroons for your kids, too. I had so much fun sitting in their cute and cozy sofas.

Great addition to the neighborhood. Wine was great. It's a typical wine bar menu, but the burrata was phenomenal. They also have beer on tap which is good because my wife likes wine and I usually move to beer after a first glass. Service was also excellent. Highly recommend coming here, especially if you're in the neighborhood like us.

I normally don't write reviews, but I'm making an exception to this place. It's my first time here, and so far it's great place, a really good selection of wine, cheeses, champagne and beer. It's a good place to meet up with friends, have a glass of wine and relax. The staff are awesome and willing to suggest a good wine, they are patient, easy going and friendly. I would highly recommend this place.
