"The West Town corner of Grand and May has seen plenty of turnover, but Mister Tiger is bringing fresh energy to the block. Delicious Korean dishes are served in a minimalist space with a bar decked out in glossy tile and a playlist that might’ve been sourced from an Ibiza dayclub. All the recipes originate from home, specifically the owners’ childhood homes. And after trying the galbijjim with juicy short rib, crispy chive pancakes, or umami-packed kimchi jjigae, we wish we could transport it all back in time so that our own younger selves could’ve grown up with this food, too." - adrian kane, john ringor, nick allen, adrian kane, nick allen, nick allen, john ringor, john ringor, nick allen, john ringor, nick allen, nick allen, nick allen, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, adrian kane, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor, john ringor
"What do you want out of a date? Love? Happiness? Delicious Korean food in a chic minimalist space that manages to be both buzzy and intimate? Well, Mister Tiger in West Town can at least help with the last bit. You can join the other couples and friends digging into galbijjim with juicy short rib and crispy chive pancakes—all of which are recipes inspired by the owners’ childhood. Who knows, a bowl of bubbling, umami-packed kimchi jjigae might just successfully wingman you to finding love and happiness, too." - adrian kane, john ringor, veda kilaru, nick allen
"Mister Tiger brings delicious Korean food to a stretch of the neighborhood where banchan is even rarer than free street parking. In this minimalist space with a glossy bar and club-like soundtrack, couples and friends dig into stews and grilled meats. The recipes are inspired by the owners’ childhood homes, and after trying the galbijjim with short rib, chive pancakes, or umami-packed kimchi jjigae, we wish we could send it all back in time so our younger selves could’ve grown up with this food, too." - adrian kane, veda kilaru, john ringor, nick allen
"This family-owned Korean restaurant opened earlier this year in West Town and continues to make a case that West Town is Chicago’s best dining neighborhood. The complimentary banchan will make even the most apprehensive fans of fermented fish cakes. You’ll find the usual — fried chicken, dumplings — and all are done well, and are solid compliments to Korean barbecue favorites like LA kalbi. But the star is the delectable GalbiJjim made with braised beef short rib and a delicate ensemble of hand-carved vegetables. The broth is sweet but not too much and comes with a nice bitterness that accentuates the veggies and meat." - Ashok Selvam
"Mister Tiger is a Korean restaurant in West Town. They’re currently BYOB and in their soft opening, but expect dishes like kimchi pancake, galbijjim, and kimchi fried rice." - john ringor, veda kilaru, nick allen
