"Chef Jose Salazar’s first restaurant bears his name, but his second might be his most personal. Named for his Colombian grandmother, Mita’s serves a tapas menu featuring the food and beverages of Spain and Latin America, ranging from traditional to modern. Dishes include ceviches, cured hams, cheeses, paella, and pozole. While Salazar himself is a five-time James Beard Award semifinalist for best chef, Mita’s was a finalist for outstanding restaurant in the 2023 awards." - Andy Brownfield

A lovely place for a dinner downtown! We split four tapas between two people and it made for a perfect dinner. The cocktails were smooth and well-balanced in their flavors, and our waiter’s recommendations for tapas were perfect. I highly recommend the tostones and avocado, the octopus, and the pork belly tacos. The meal left us feeling pleasantly full but not so stuffed that we couldn’t enjoy the rest of our night. Can’t wait to go back!

I’ve been wanting to try Mira’s for a long time. I made a dinner reservation online. I got the jicama ensalada, it’s was a little bitter but still fresh and served as a good starter. We got the ceviche de camarones, so shrimp. So good, very fresh a little tart. I love plantains any style but they complimented well. The short rib empanadas we my favorite. The had so much flavor and I loved the sauce. I also really enjoyed the pork belly tacos they were so so tender. The bartender made us a blanco cucumber marg as a dealer choice that was perfect. I will say there spicy marg are spicyyy. You’ve been warned lmao

The food is very delectable, it will dance on your taste buds. You will leave very satisfied and probably with no leftovers. I actually had a hard time getting out of my chair because I was so full. The service is absolutely wonderful. The staff is super nice, warm, and friendly. The pay attention to the needs of their customers. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and Friendly. I would highly recommend this spot if you like good vibes and amazing food.

Google
Went to Mitas for the first time and we are already planning our next visit. The casual yet elevated atmosphere was so inviting. The food and cocktails were phenomenal. Still dreaming about the plantains and guacamole with the pork belly tacos. I’d give more than 5 stars if I could.

Google
A bit of an oxymoron with the boldness and subtleness of the flavors into each dish! Love the variety of small & large plate options and ofcourse the wine collection.

Google
Really nice spot... pricey but good. The ceviche is great, pulpo was good but not how I would normally eat it. Duck looked amazing.... sangria was great

Google
Fantastic experience! Highly recommend giving it a try if you’re in Cincinnati for the evening. We visited on a Friday so we made sure to have reservations.

The margarita cheese plate and sliders were my favorite. I wasn't a fan of the smoked potatoes. Very nice dinning expirence. The service was top notch

Yelp
I came here on a whim after a loong work day and sat at the bar. The ceviche was fantastic, not too acidic or mushy which I often find it to be other restaurants. The goat cheese peppers were soo yummy!! Star of the show was the octopus dish which was so rich and delicious!! Grace was very helpful with recommending courses, cocktails and gave great conversation. Will definitely come here for girls night with my friends, I know they will be impressed with the food and the service

Yelp
What a great evening spent here. We had made a reservation in advance, and were seated quickly, and had prompt attention from our waiter. He took the time to explain the flow of everything, and made multiple suggestions. The place was updated and clean, and not too loud. The food was amazing- if we are ever back in the area, we will definitely stop by again. A quick review of the dishes my wife and I tried: Our least favorite was the hurache de elote. Both my wife and I had never had mole before, and found out we didn't like it- but the dish itself after scrapping over the mole was good- with the corn filling being flavorful. The bread with olive oil and red sauce was great. The salsa romesco was amazing, and we wanted to dip all of our food in it. The potatoes were crunchy, and the garlic aoili that came with it helped cool down the spicyness of them. The brochetas de pollo were juicy and packed full of flavor. The empanadas had a great crunch and were filled plentifully. The pork tacos were wonderful, and enjoyed the homemade corn tortilla. Great spot for a date night and can't wait to come back!

Yelp
First off the location is perfect. There is a parking garage next to the restaurant and it's a very short walk from Fountain Square. The large windows give ample opportunity for people-watching and letting maximum light in. The decor is beautiful and the many unique pieces add to the ambiance. The food was absolutely amazing! From the artful design to the mingling of very unique flavors- each dish was incredible. We had a reservation and had no wait time before being seated. Hosts were incredibly friendly. Our server seemed like he did not want to be there. Did not go over specials or provide any info that first timers should know. Had to flag him down with questions as he did not stop in to check on us during our time there. Despite this, we had a wonderful time starting our meal with cocktails and a cheese plate. Mita's is a tapas restaurant and so we shared 8 small plates in order to get the best variety from the menu. I recommend trying as many things as you can for a maximum taste experience. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience at Mita's. We had late reservations at 9:15pm on Friday night during Blink. The service was wonderful. Loved the ambience and decor. We did not have a single dish we did not like. We ordered about 5 tapas and that was more than enough for 2 people. My favorite was the ceviche of the day, which was scallop and red snapper in a pomegranate leche de tigre. All the dishes had a very unique twist to them. Highly recommend!

Erin E.

Yelp
Everything we had was delicious! I recommend going with a group so that you can try more food. They are small plates but pack the flavor. All of the sauces/aioli were amazing. The atmosphere is nice and the service was friendly. I want to come back and try the paella.

Yelp
Vibes: spacious, casual but refined; bring a date or a few friends Tasting notes: - Gilda: a delightfully light bite with so many textures and flavors - Conserva (branzino): perfectly salted, gently oiled fish that paired beautifully with pickled vegetables and the airy, crispy, herby flatbread crackers - Venado crudo: very melt-in-your-mouth buttery meat; loved the mix of creamy and crunchy - Tostones: hot plantains that were crunchy on the outside with just a bit of a tender bite - Goat tamales: generous portion with two wrapped tamales in the order; juicy meat, fluffy, steamy masa - Pulpo: the saltiest of the dishes; slices of octopus on the chewier/crispy side; interesting texture from the foam - Empanadas: two in an order; big chunks of meat with a nicely thin and crispy wrapping - Tres leches: indulgent but not too heavy; milk reminiscent of melted vanilla ice cream and was picked up nicely with the swipe of a cake bite Other thoughts: - Very attentive service with water refills and plate exchanges as we moved from lighter to heavier tapas - Moderately crowded on a warm Saturday night - Convenient parking garage in the same building - Above meal was incredibly satisfying for two hungry adults, would probably order one less dish next visit Other thoughts: Salazar delivers! Would come back to try the rest of the menu, though it'll be hard not to order the tres leches as the dessert of the night!

Yelp
Truly one of my favorite restaurants in Cincy! The service is always amazing. They have a rotating seasonal restaurant and this was my first time trying the summer menu. We tried the patatas brava, ceviche de camarones, pulpo, bocadillos de hamburguesa, tacos de barriga de cerdo. Our server coursed out our meal and the dishes went very well together. The ceviche was very refreshing- perfect for the summer. The pulpo with the potato foam was perfection. I've never had potatoes prepared that way before- the potatoes were incredibly smooth yet kinda bouncy too. The sliders are a must order- the beef is perfectly seasoned and juicy, the brioche bun was toasted yet soft- it's perfection!

Michelle G.

Yelp
I can't believe I waited this long to go to Mita's! I came with my book club on a weeknight. We were seated in the bar area. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful in helping us choose the right amount of food for our group. We decided to each order something that would be just ours and something for the table to share. We were there when their summer menu was available and my favorite dish I tried had iberico ham, peaches, and some type of soft cheese. I also really enjoyed the olives, the tostones and guacamole, and the patatas bravas. The meal was a delicious variety of flavors and I definitely want to come back.

Yelp
The power of Christ compels me...to leave a great review and go back to Mita's soon. This was phenomenal. The service, the food, the pacing of the meal, the attention from our server Lindsey...absolutely five stars. First, Chris at the door has the perfect little welcoming smile, and did a great job of making us feel like our party belonged as soon as we entered. We'd briefly thought to enlarge our group, and Chris acted like changing a major reservation at the last moment was not an issue at all. Absolutely unfazed. We ultimately decided to keep our small group at 4, and enjoyed a round of cocktails before heading to our table. I love a restaurant that just transfers your bar tab to your table as opposed to making you settle up immediately. Talk about a relaxed transition from bar to table. The sangria was delicious, the old fashioneds were even better, and I have to admit, I haven't seen as inventive a cocktail menu as Mita's has in quite some time. I haven't even started on the food. That glorious and delicious food. There was one STANDOUT dish that was so special, it mentally took me back to my meal at Nobu in Caesar's Palace in Vegas. The chef, in his/her mad genius, sent out a venison carpaccio dish that my table literally ended up fighting over the last bite. The flavors on this dish, the textures, the finish? Glorious. Let me talk about my server, Lindsey, for a hot minute. When I tell you this girl KNOWS her menu...she KNOWS the menu. After she's taken the table's order she asked about food allergies. Someone in the group named theirs, and Lindsey IMMEDIATELY told her the ingredients of the dish she's ordered contained the allergen in question. She offered a corrective on the spot, went to the kitchen to confirm with the chef, and we were good to go. This may seem small to you, but I hate going places and ordering things only to have to wait until the food gets to the table to realize the very thing you requested NOT be on your plate, is ALLLLLL over your damn plate. (Some server in Memphis, TN, once almost killed a niece and nephew of mine because she had peanuts put on their Thai salads even after we'd specifically said the children had peanut allergies). So kudos to Lindsey for knowing the Mita menu and being able to recommend alterations that don't compromise the final dish. I'll definitely be back, with friends or by myself. The food, the service, and the ambiance are all well worth it, and if you've never been...the power of Christ compels you...to now go enjoy Mita's. P.S. A shoutout to Benjamin, the bellman across the street from Mita's at the Hilton. He absolutely sent our party over to Mita's in style. We'd struggled to find parking and as we circled asking, he said, "You're just going to Mita's across the street? I'll take care of you." Free parking downtown just because he was a good young man and wanted us to enjoy our dinner at Mita's. I love it when local businesses look out for each other and their patrons. I just love it.

Yelp
The service was great. The food was excellent. They look great and they taste even better. I took my mom out for mommy daughter date and totally made the right choice. This place is perfect for any occasion, family dinner, date night.... I want to visit since I have heard many great reviews about Chef Salazar, and it did not disappointed

Yelp
Everything was perfection from beginning to end. We hadn't been here in more than six years since moving away and our experience coming back was exceptional. We started with a cheese plate and shishito peppers, followed by shrimp ceviche, pork belly tacos and sliders. I have to say - the pork tacos were so good it hurt my feelings. And then we had the sliders. And my life was changed. It's hard to explain exactly why Chef Salazar's food is so exquisite but that's what it is - exquisite. Our margaritas and my specialty margarita whose name I can't recall were also exceptional - start to finish an incredible culinary experience.

Yelp
We took our three adult children (late 20's), who have never experienced real Spanish Tapas, for Christmas dinner on the Dec. 23rd. Because none of us had ever experienced paella, we ordered it upon seating like the restaurant suggested. We then proceeded to order almost one of everything on the menu! Our server Max, which my wife and I have had serve us before, was lovely and very attentive. Our two bottles of Rose wine that we ordered were lovely. We started having our tapas and then the paella was served way before we were expecting. So the big dish took up a lot of room on the table while we were trying to navigate the other dishes. But all ended up okay. Here is what we all thought: Cheese plate: absolutely lovely Mushrooms: Rich Life Farms (local shrooms) and squash. Excellent Empanadas: good, sauce is lovely Ceviche: very fresh, very citrus forward as a ceviche should be Taco: favorite of our group, we should have ordered more Carne Asada: OMG! this is the best dish we had, please order this. Paella: It was very seafood forward, which was great, but not as much food as we thought. We all loved the seasoning of the rice, but my son was the only one who ate the octopus. All of the other shellfish were cooked well and tasty. Shrimp Skewer on a Baguette: fantastic!! Just order it. We had a lovely drink called Carajillo to end the night. It's a Spanish Liqueur that was lovely.

Yelp
Came here on a Monday night for my wife's birthday with a party of 3. We were able to get a reservation on relatively short notice, a few days prior. Ambiance here is quite nice with a very warm and more up-scale vibe. Our server was fantastic, was super attentive, and incredibly friendly. This is tapas style food, so we ordered 4 small dishes and then ordered their signature large dish- paella. We ordered the warm marinated olives with drunken goat cheese first. Very delicious and a great way to start the meal. Next we got the tostones y guacamole. My wife loves plaintains so we get them frequently and these were some of the best prepared plantains I have ever had. They were crispy and flavorful and not overly oily, super delicious! We also got jicama and mango salad as well as the pulpo (Spanish octopus). My personal favorite dish we got was the pulpo. Last, but certainly not least, we got the paella with all the different seafood in it. Super flavorful, crispy on the bottom and the seafood was all excellent. We also got the tres leches cake for dessert which was decadent and delicious! Really, really fantastic tapas here. I would love to go back to try the rest! It's not super cheap but I think it's worth the increased price.

Kelli R.

Yelp
I just got into Spanish cuisine! It is the most incredible food. Everything was bursting in flavors that were both unique and complementary. The server was knowledgeable and passionate about the menu. I loved the large windows and lower lighting. They recommended 5-6 plates per two people. The wine list is extensive and it was great to choose from wines local to Spain! There is plenty of street parking.

Alyssa L.

Yelp
This was my second visit to Mita's, and I was honestly not looking forward to it. The first time I went I felt the portion sizes were too small for the price, and while good they were not very filling. Turns out, I was ordering the wrong stuff! We got the shishito peppers and a cheese plate to start (not pictured). Both delicious. The plantains with guacamole are a MUST TRY. It may very well be the best guacamole I've had. Both the chicken skewers and sliders were incredible as well. The ambiance is very moody and cool. Seating is comfortable and it's not a loud place. The staff is very attentive and give great recommendations if you have questions. It's quite pricey, but still a very nice option.

Jackie Z.

Yelp
Always love mitas, and got the venison tartare this time! Great flavor and not gamey at all. Snag yourself a reservation to one of the top restaurants in the US!

Kim S.

Yelp
Perfect place to celebrate my foodie son's 30th birthday! He's from Austin, where they have an amazing culinary scene, so we wanted to take him somewhere special and Mita's fit the bill! Four of us took turns choosing tapas, that we all shared. In all, we tried 8 tapas, 2 desserts, and 7 drinks and not one disappointed! I would highly recommend Mita's and am sure we will return.

Regina M.

Yelp
I went to this tapas bar with coworkers while in Cincinnati on a work trip and was so impressed with the food, service, and atmosphere! I tried the "Not the bees!" cocktail and really enjoyed the balance of smoky mezcal and sweet honey. Our waiter asked if we had any time restrictions, and as I had to leave within the hour, he was very conscientious of pacing out the tapas so that I could try everything before I left. We ordered the patatas bravas, empanadas, pulpo, cheese plate, and croquetas - all were delicious and would definitely order again. I would definitely come back here next time I'm in Cincinnati!

Robert F.

Yelp
Everything is great and worthy of praising. The added benefit is that you don't have to add the expense of a round trip to Spain, which wouldn't be a real hardship.

Joseph D.

Yelp
This place is unbelievable! Great wine list, wonderful service but the food is STUPID good. We were there for a corporate dinner and could not have been happier! They brought out a seemingly endless array of dishes starting with charcuterie and olives and each dish more tasty than the last although there was almost a a fist fight in our group on weather the paella or the papas bravos was the best. Then the Trace leches cake came out and everyone was like oh hold on we have a winner. I truly don't have enough good things to say about this place from the minute we walked in the door to the minute we left.

Christine K.

Yelp
Decent food, but seemed quite expensive for the food/service received. I know it's tapas, but wish the plates were just a tad bigger for the price!

Chris B.

Yelp
AMAZING!!! Best food we had on our trip to Cincinnati, went there 2 times, OMG so good. Make sure you make a reservation!!

Audrey P.

Yelp
Such delicious food! The ambiance is incredible. Our server was super nice, and very attentive. If you're traveling to Cincinnati for work/fun you should definitely make a reservation for a night at Mitas!! Everything was priced very fairly for the quality of this restaurant. Yelp
If you want a delightful and different experience every time, check this place out. My wife and I first discovered this place on our first anniversary. Our server was so engaging and kind. They brought us champagne immediately (we referenced anniversary on the reservation). The server was very knowledgeable of the menu and had great recommendations. All the food was delicious, unique, and fun. My favorite was the pulpo, but we tried so many dishes and everything was exquisite. The wines are all excellent too. Not a bad thing on the menu. We loved our experience so much, we decided to make it our anniversary spot. The only downside is we don't get to come as much but for 5 anniversaries now, we have enjoyed Mita's. Every experience delicious and different, every time excellent food, drink, and service. Cannot recommend this place more, and we look forward to our next anniversary there.

Sarah Jane M.

Yelp
This place was such a vibe! Even on a Monday night it was popping with people! I love an elevated Mexican inspired food and this place did not disappoint! I had a solo dinner here and ordered 3 things once the menu which was perfect

Amanda H.

Yelp
Great tapas place. The pork belly tacos and plantains were by far our favorites. They brought out a cute cookie for her birthday also. Very thoughtful

Marisa T.

Yelp
Mita's is just as good as everyone says. The food is exquisite! We enjoyed everything we tried, but we especially enjoyed the empanadas de res con pique, tacos de barriga de cerdo, and the tostones y guacamole. The moody atmosphere makes it a great spot for date night. It is honestly very close to 5 stars; however, I am personally not a fan of the "small plates" restaurant style. You'll be paying "large plate" prices but getting very little food in comparison. That is obviously a very personal opinion on my end. Don't let it stop you from giving Mita's a try! (Just save up first ‍)

Kirsten J.

Yelp
I took my hubby to Mita's for his birthday. We have been living in the area for years and I can't believe that it took us sooooooo long to discover this gem. It is such a fantastic restaurant. The ambiance is beautiful and upscale without breaking your bank. Since it was our first time there we asked for suggestions and ordered several dishes as suggested by our amazing waitress. We started off with Pan Con Aceite de Olivia, warm olives and Tostones with Guacamole. The bread was oh so fresh!!!! And the olives!!!! I think I was in heaven for a moment when popped the first olive into my mouth. I eat a LOT of olives but never had them warmed with goat cheese. Soooo good. The Tostones where prepared perfectly and gone in a flash!!! We thought it couldn't get any better until our Brochettes and Empanadas arrived at the table. Devine and delicious. The staff surprised my hubby with a yummy cookie at the end to celebrate his birthday. I loved how they simply brought it to the table and congratulated him without having the whole staff there having to sing Happy Birthday! Mita's: I think I am in love with you. We will be back very soon. Ps: I would recommend to make reservations. I reserved a table at 5p on a Saturday and it was already pretty busy when we arrived.

Jenny W.

Yelp
First time dining here and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Very busy for a Tuesday night. Had the warm marinated olives with Manchego (so good), the bread board with romesco sauce and olive oil ( jalapeño bread was killer), ceviche of mahi mahi and scallops (SO good) served with plantain chips, short rib empanadas and chimichurri, the papatas bravas (the smokey paprika flavor was perfect), and ordered a couple desserts to share--the favorite was the blueberry sweet corn ice cream topped with candied corn nuts (crazy good!). Our server did a great job and the food was unique and delicious!

Tim M.

Yelp
Came for dinner on a Saturday. We had great meal from start to finish. Our server was very good and even though it was very busy we never felt rushed. I am a big fan of Jose Salazar's restaurants.

Craig D.

Yelp
(4) ~ very good overall food & service DRINKS: ** Water (tap) = (4) very good, must be filtered;) ** Espresso = (4) very good FOOD: ** 3-Cheese Course = (4) very good...Cabra Al Romero (Rosemary) ; Smokin' Goat (Smokey) & Monte Enebro (similar to Blue Cheese). ** Paella Valenciana = (4) very good & shareable ** Ice Cream = (4) very good (Pear & Coffee) * Tarta de Chocolate = (3.5) good, but not great...

Grace D.

Yelp
Girl's night at Mita was great! The environment gives off an art museum/Moroccan feel. Once you walk in, it's very spacious and decorative. Despite the high ceilings and openness, it still felt very warm and inviting. Our party had one of the long tables separated from the main dining area. The food was incredible and the service was good. We had the Alcochofas y hongas that melted in my mouth, never had that combination of foods before and it was a great experience for my taste buds. I also ordered the Ensalada de Jicama y Mango that was quite refreshing in flavor and taste. The Chuleta de puerco was a larger tapas dish that was easily sharable and had so much flavor. Every dish had a unique flavor and pizazz to it. Loved the entire experience.

Travis L.

Yelp
I ordered the tostones y guacamole, patatas bravas, empanadas, and tarta de chocolate. My favorite was the tostones y guacamole. The chocolate tart is very rich. Service is great. The ambiance is classy casual. Plan on ordering 2-3 items person in your group. Just a reminder that Tapas = smaller portions, big flavors and large prices,

Loren F.

Yelp
Love this restaurant so much! I've been a handful of times and it's always a good time. Great wine selection, yummy food menu, beautiful ambiance and great service. Love that there are so many vegetarian options as well with the tapas style menu. I will say some of our food was a little too salty on this visit than previous visits I've had. I would highly recommend saving room for dessert--the tres leches is out of this world delicious!!

Parker G.

Yelp
I heard of the recent James Beard nomination for Mita's and HAD to get in while they were hot. I'm so glad I did. I really feel like the quality of food, ambiance, and service are all top notch. I see Mita's as worth every cent of the price point. All of the dishes I ordered were full of flavor and creativity. My personal favorites were the Shio Koji Col Chino and Pulpo. The Pulpo was cooked perfectly, leading to an impressive texture which can be tricky to achieve. Our service was also on point. Our waitress guided us around the menu, gave recommendations, paced us, and was attentive with clean plates and full glasses the entire time. I absolutely recommend Mita's for an impressive dinner downtown. My date and I ordered 5 tapas with a bottle of wine and left completely satisfied with no room for dessert.

Carolyn M.

Yelp
Another 12/10 experience from them best chef in Cincinnati. The service, atmosphere, drinks, and most importantly, food all made for the perfect night. The old classics were better than we remembered them and the tamales are definitely a new staple.

David T.

Yelp
First time coming here. Stopped on the way the Duke Energy for the Beerfest event. Almost didn't leave. We all tried the cheese and bread boards but it was great. Can't wait to come back and try the other dinner options.

Madeleine M.

Yelp
Last night was our first time at Mita's, and it 100% lived up to every expectation!! Jose Salazar and team's dishes had such unique flavors that each bite left you salivating for more. Each tapa plate came out one after another, giving us time to enjoy each item, but kept us excited and wondering for the next one. Highly recommend!! Service was also wonderful and our waitress gave us great recommendations!

Brett S.

Yelp
I live in Cincinnati, but only became aware of this place due to the publicity generated by the James Beard Awards. I made a reservation to come here on my birthday. This is a tapas place. The plates come tapas sized, but also tapas priced. I've been burned by other restaurants that price their tapas like entrees, with a server cheerfully recommending that each diner order 2 or 3...right. Mita's is not one of those places; the plates are exquisitely prepared and priced appropriately. Our server was very good. He knew the menu, but could also read our table and make appropriate recommendations, ranging from what the kids might like, to adding to an order ("you might want 4 tacos"), to coaching me through the cocktail menu. He mentioned he had been with the chef for many years, so he was a pro. The food was great. We ordered three items from the "vegetables" section of the menu and another three from the "protein" section of the menu (this is for two adults, one teen, and one tween). We re-ordered one vegetable item because we liked it so much. We skipped dessert because I had birthday cake waiting at home. However, pre-tip, the bill for us (4 vegetables, 3 proteins, 4 cocktails, 1 beer, 3-4 soft drinks) came to $195. I have paid far more to get far less here in the Queen City. I would like to return here, and would highly recommend.

Yelp
Have you ever been afraid to go somewhere because you are scared of it not living up to the hype? Mita's is not one of those places. They were exactly what we wanted. This restaurant was on our list for the past few years. It was finally time to give it a try. Our second Salazar restaurant we've tried. Get the chicarrón, just do it. Crispy, soft, salty and flavorful. The whole table got their own . The papusa was amazing. The chorizo was delicious and it was a good blend of meat vs bean. We basically got one of everything and it was all delicious. We will be back!!

Yelp
Finally tried Mita's after wanting to visit for a while and especially after visiting Spain last year was wanting a tapas experience in Cincinnati. Two friends and I enjoyed a wonderful experience on Thursday evening, starting with beverages, Mas Rapido gin drink, a margarita and Sauvignon Blanc from chili then engulfed (I was savoring the cheese, while my friends ate their cheese so quickly) a cheese plate with 3 cheeses: Manchengo, which I fell in love with from my trip last year; Smokin' Goat with butterly flavor and recommended by Belle our server Monte Enebro - WOW! This cheese alone blew us away a funky Spanish blue cheese - we defintely noted we have to get this cheese again or find somewhere to enjoy at home. Then to the small plates, there was so much to choose from, we started out with the vegetable dishes and really filled ourselves on 3 of these plates. Tostones Guacamole which was warm twice-fried plantains with guacamole - omg so good! Reminded me of similar dish from La Pepita in Barcelona; Patatas Bravas - spicy potatoes with aioli, which was okay, definitely not as good as I enjoyed in Spain; Alcachofas Hongos was delicious sautéed mushrooms and artichoke hearts, potatoes, ramps, piquillo pepper sauce, spanish peanuts, espelette; Green Mango and Jicama salad - fresh and refreshing with the cilantro vinaigrette; we tried one meat dish and what a treat it was Pupusa de Chorizo Y Curtido - griddle cake filled with pork sausage, cheese and refried beans, topped with fermented cabbage and chipotle mayoso flavorful every bite melted in your mouth. Amazing service from Belle, everything came out of the kitchen fresh and hot with the right timing. Thank you to the Mita's team for a wonderful meal with friends right in downtown Cincinnati.

Yelp
The last time I went to Mita's was years ago, and admittedly, I was not impressed. I have always loved Salazar and Goose and Elder, but I felt this spot lagged behind- until now. I went with my husband for restaurant week and we shared a delightful and delicious experience. The two best dishes we had, hands down, were the alcochofas y hongos and the pupusa de chorizo. I've had my fair share of pupusas, but the smokiness of the beans combined with the acid of the fermented cabbage was a wow. Our server was friendly and made fantastic recommendations. The atmosphere was lively but still quiet enough for a nice date night. I couldn't have been happier with our evening.

Yelp
The ambience of this place is great, which is why it's 2/5 and not 0/5. We ordered the patatas bravas with aioli (potatoes lol) , stuffed peppers, muslos de pollo (it's just chicken thighs), and the arepa (corn pancake). The potatoes were over salted and had too much paprika. They tasted like the nacho cheese fries from Taco Bell. I can't recommend this. The stuffed peppers were decent but they only come with TWO PEPPERS per order. That's $6 a pepper... what?! The chicken thighs were plated nicely. What it lacked in salt was made up for in seasoning. Just kidding, it was flavorless too. I can't recommend this either. The arepa was pretty tasty, but you could go to the area establishment and get this for half the price. This place is great for instagram but not your tastebuds or wallet. I was disappointed and spent roughly $100(includes paid parking) on this mediocre crap.

Yelp
I used to live just down the street from Mita's, and I am SO bummed that I never visited while I was living there, because I certainly would have been a regular here. A girl friend and I made reservations for 5 p.m., right when they opened, after an afternoon at the Cincinnati International Wine Festival. From the atmosphere, to the service, to the food, we loved every second. The restaurant itself is beautiful and inviting ... walking in to Mita's just makes you feel a little fancy. But unlike other high end establishments downtown, there's no "snooty" feeling from any of the servers. Our waiter was fantastic throughout the evening - and provided us with some great recommendations. Having dined at some of the other wonderful restaurants by Chef Jose Salazar, it's evident that customer service is an important value. If you've never been to a tapas restaurant before, make sure you're comfortable with sharing. Small plates is the name of the game, which I think makes it so much more fun, since you get to taste a little bit of everything. We started with a few cheeses: the Mahon, the Smokin' Goat, and the Manchego. Cheese is always a good way to kick off a big meal - and their cheese board spread included some fun crispy crackers and tasty nuts. We also ordered the Tostones Y Guacamole, which is always one of my favorite appetizers. Tostones are fried plantains, and they're totally better than tortilla chips. After that, we ordered three additional entrees: the Hamachi Tiradito, the Empanadas, and the Canelones de Pollo. Everything was delicious - although the Canelones were definitely my favorite. Picture an enchilada ... but swap the tortilla for pasta. It was such a memorable bite, that I'm still dreaming about how I can recreate it at home. We also shared some sorbet for dessert ... although we were so full, we only managed a few bites each. Between the two of us, we spent about $100 total on dinner, but keep in mind that we didn't order any drinks. I can't wait to return to Mita's again soon!

Yelp
This place is soooo good! We tried a few different things and every item we tried was delicious! The vibe is very much "after work happy hour" or casual date night. Our server was very sweet and helped answer all of our questions about the menu. Will definitely be returning!

Yelp
If you're looking for a top-notch dining experience in downtown Cincinnati, look no further than Mita's. From the moment you step inside, you'll be transported to a world of delicious Spanish cuisine and warm hospitality. One of the standout dishes at Mita's has to be the empanadas. These crispy pockets of dough are filled with savory beef and expertly seasoned and cooked to perfection. They're the perfect appetizer to share with friends and family, and they're sure to leave you craving more. That sauce served with them is SO good too! Another must-try at Mita's is the sangria. This classic Spanish drink is made with red wine, fruit, and a splash of brandy, and Mita's version is simply divine. It's the perfect balance of sweet and tangy, and it pairs perfectly with just about any dish on the menu. For a truly memorable meal, you can't go wrong with the paella. This traditional Spanish dish is a feast for the senses, with fragrant rice, juicy seafood, and tender meats all cooked together in a rich, flavorful broth. It's a dish that's meant to be shared, and it's sure to impress even the most discerning foodie. And if you're a fan of peppers, you won't want to miss the shishito peppers at Mita's. These tiny green peppers are mild, and they're the perfect accompaniment to any meal. They're grilled to perfection. Overall, Mita's is a true gem in the heart of Cincinnati. With its warm atmosphere, impeccable service, and mouth-watering menu, it's a restaurant that's sure to impress. So next time you're in the area, be sure to stop by and sample some of the best Spanish cuisine in town. Check out @cincinnatifoodies on instagram for more and listen to our podcast.

Yelp
My husband and I went here last night on our honeymoon. Talk about an incredible experience! We started with the bread board and the asparagus and mushrooms. The yucca bread was delicious, and the other two breads paired with the cheese spread and olive oil were phenomenal. My husband doesn't care for asparagus much, but found the almost pickle-like flavor very satisfying. Then we chose three cheeses- manchego, cabra al romero, and the smokin goat. Paired with the crackers and membrillo? Oh my goodness absolutely amazing. My husband also really loved the almonds. The crab salad? My lord I was already really starting to be full but that was some of the most incredible bites I've ever had. Then our waiter brought out the wagyu steak and I watched my husbands eyes roll back into his head and his life change forever. It was DELICIOUS. The rice that came with it was so delicate and delightful. The atmosphere was amazing. The drinks were wonderful. Our waiter was so helpful. It was by far a 10/10 experience and we would absolutely come here again.

Yelp
Amazing and unique flavors! And they will work with your food sensitivities or allergies very closely. Definitely recommend for fans of Spanish tapas and for foodies looking for something new.

Yelp
Went in for tapas and drinks with my wife and best friend and had an amazing experience. Nancy was our server and was a huge part of why we love it, super friendly and we had awesome banter. Our table by the window was cozy and tucked away with a people watching bonus. Plantain app, empanada dessert and cocktails for the win. Nancy deserves a raise. Also-utmost respect for the 'kitchen tip' line on the receipt. 10/10 will return.
