Mito was the first spot I chose for dinner on a trip to Portugal back in September. All these months later I vividly remember, and desperately miss, the taste of the food I ate here. We ate phenomenal food on this trip, including a few Michelin starred restaurants, and Mito still stands strongly as my favorite.
First, they get huge points for having reservations available a few days out. Portugal, yes the entire country, was inundated with tourists while we were there. Every restaurant was seemingly booked months in advance for every day of the week. Mito somehow flew under the radar, it was packed while we were there, but I think it's relatively new, so not as well known.
Every thing we ate, down to that bowl of tomatoes, was exceptionally prepared and packed with flavor. I don't think Mito has a Michelin star, but, if they keep this up, they'll get one in no time.
It seems like they switch up their menu, so your choices may differ from ours, but try the Ribeye and Sea Bass if they offer them. We had those options multiple times on our trip, they always tasted great, but nowhere did it better than Mito.
Don't skip out on Mito just because you likely won't see it on restaurant recommendation lists, it is 1000% worth a visit. Whenever I return to Portugal, I'll be sure to book a reservation at Mito first and foremost.
