Where To Eat Near London's Best Lidos and Swimming Spots

"Mixed Blessings is a 20-minute or so wander through Tooting Common and is the perfect spot for a post-swim snack. The Caribbean bakery’s jerk chicken patties are a big fat yes and the ginger sponge cake is one of the best ways you can spend a couple of quid in London. If you get a slice of the coconut cake too, we really wouldn’t blame you." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, sinead cranna

The Best Caribbean Bakeries in London | Eater London

"Another south London favourite. Most people who haven’t actually been inside have seen and chuckled at the name when passing by on a bus. The hypnotising smells from the bakery draft into the shop front. It opens at the crack of dawn, the walls lined with shelves of hardo bread; by early afternoon, those shelves are usually empty. The bakery also has scores of sweet treats, including the incredible coconut rolls dusted with sugar. A second location is at: 12 Camberwell Rd, Camberwell, London SE5 0EN" - Riaz Phillips

Mixed Blessings Bakery Review - Tooting - London - The Infatuation

"Sure, we regularly refer to ourselves as HASHTAG BLESSED - insert praying hands emoji here - whenever we survive drinking two pints without suffering an eventual hangover, but when it comes to this great Caribbean bakery on Mitcham Road in Tooting, you’re 100% blessed if you happen to live nearby. Whether you swing by for a loaf of freshly baked hard dough bread or pick up some jerk chicken patties to eat on Tooting Common, we can guarantee you’ll leave with something you like. Also, the ginger sponge cake is one of the best ways you can spend £1.50 in London. And honestly, if you got a slice of the coconut cake too, we really wouldn’t blame you. photo credit: Giulia Verdinelli" - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Try their chicken patties.. .wow! real chunks of chicken, Lamb ones are also good. Rare to find handmade patties in London these days. Courteoua and friendly staff. Lovely food. The shop itself is worth a look - it's not your normal bakery

One of the best, if not the best Caribbean bakeries in South London. Established in 1995 by a local family and still run on the same original cultural values of the West Indian community. Food is cooked fresh onsite and there is something for everyone including a strong allergy free menu. Portion sizes are big which is a very good experience as most places give you a rice filled container with a small amount of meat in the corner. Great value for money, especially their lunchtime menu as there is a wide selection for a small amount of money. A true five star 🌟 review for a five star establishment. 👍

It has been quite some time since my last visit to this establishment, but today I had a craving for a patty. After spending some time in Brixton, I decided to stop by Mix Blessings. I ordered a sailfish patty, and the first one was so delightful that I opted for a second. While the second patty was enjoyable, it did not quite match the excellence of the first. The bun and cheese were rather ordinary; I am uncertain whether the patties are consistently exceptional or if I simply experienced a fortuitous day.

I stopped going for a while as I moved away.. Returned recently to the area, not sure if it’s the baker, but the bun I brought the first time was tasteful and soft. The last two occasions the buns have been so dry I threw them away.. Service is great and the atmosphere is always on point, Other items I tried bread, cakes and patties was enjoyable and tasty.

This is my local Jamaican bakery and when I first moved to Tooting I was really excited that this was so close. However after going to the shop several times, I’ve been disappointed. The patties (which is what I mostly go to the bakery for) are tasteless and have this tangy flavour no matter if you get saltfish, lamb or chicken. The bun & cheese is dry. The coco bread sandwiches are decent and the best thing to get is the cornmeal porridge. Everything else I haven’t tried but wouldn’t really bother.

Seen some of the comments as regards their pattys - I thought mine was fab, I always think they are hard to reproduce outside Jamaica - I also tried some of their bakes - spice bun 10/10...their white bread loaf was lovely - very dense. Would return

Family run business with fast service with servers happy to warm up your purchases. I got a salt fish patty and a lamb patty. Hands down the best I’ve had in South London! Flaky pastry, well seasoned and peppery fillings, at just the right temperature level.
