Note to self: anything that causes you to feel that you need to live beyond your means is not sexy. In other words, stop following the trends and don't follow your heart. I am being reminded how easily one can justify why one needs (fill in the blank) in order to "truly be satisfied," but the truth is that unless it's objectively something necessary to thrive (think food, shelter, and loved ones)...it's probably not that important, and you'll thank yourself for resisting when you look back.
I have the travel bug (once had the "eating out bug"), but I am being reminded again that though travel can bring new insight and knowledge...sometimes just being honest with yourself and seeing the current surroundings and people in your life with a new perspective can easily teach you more than a round-trip flight can.
I ended up on the streets of Valencia to recenter myself, but turns out that the recentering happened after the fact. However, I enjoyed my quick stop at Mixt for a healthy and delicious meal.
I got the BACHAN'S BOWL, which comes with warm cilantro lime brown rice, arugula, crispy chicken or marinated tofu, avocado, edamame, cucumbers, radishes, cabbage, scallions, ginger sesame drizzle, and
Bachan's Japanese bbq drizzle. It was perfection.
The brown rice came in a generous amount along with the toppings (I do think they could've been more generous with the chicken). But hey, a filling meal for under $15 in the city is praiseworthy these days.
The ingredients were fresh, and all the individual flavors complemented each other so well.
Service was fine.
Note that the place gets really busy really quickly.
