PDT’s sequel, Mixteca, is more casual, but just as nerdy - Review - New York - The Infatuation
"PDT is hidden behind a phone booth in a hot dog joint on St. Marks. Sister bar Mixteca, a similarly snug spot in the West Village, is parked right on the street behind floor-to-ceiling windows. It’s a much different scene—less speakeasy, more casual coctelería. Like its famous older sibling, the place serves elaborate original creations, with a focus on tequila and mezcal. Want a spicy margarita? You can get one here, but as it goes down, you’ll feel a hit of wasabi. You can also try a carajillo, a tomatillo gin and tonic, or a sweet, nutty tequila old fashioned infused with huitlacoche. Each of the above will run you around $20. This isn’t a spot for marathon drinking, but it is a nice option to kick off your night with a unique cocktail and a taco from the shop next door.
