"South Miami’s Miyako loves their regulars so much, they name sushi rolls after them. The Japanese restaurant’s rolls are the size of hockey pucks, so request to have them cut into thinner pieces, which they’ll happily do for you. This place is best when you order strictly from their tiny board of specials. On it, you’ll find things like a delicious spicy tuna crunch roll, which they probably use an entire school of tuna to make. Or the Diana roll that’s topped with crab salad and a perfectly sweet and spicy thai sauce. But you can also have a fine meal here if you don’t eat fish. They make a crispy tonkatsu and an impressively tender wafu steak. Our goal is to come back often enough to have a roll named after us. Yours should be too." - Mariana Trabanino

"For Japanese food without pretense, Miyako is a hidden gem. A generous sushi menu presents rolls on rolls, nigiri, and sashimi, while hot items feature noodles, stir-fry, and tempura. The Dadeland rolls are wrapped in cucumber and stuffed with avocado, masago, and fresh salmon or tuna for the carb-fearing type." - Eater Staff

This place is amazing! The sushi is great, I love the service. I have been a regular here for 29 years and have had an amazing experience! The waiters and staff are super kind and make you feel like family. The food is great and the price is good! 10/10

Google
I don’t know how I’ve never tried this place before… food was delicious , service and ambiance was great!! Patricia was so attentive and willing which made our lunch very pleasant … my husband ordered the dinner special which was very good - reasonable price - and the sautéed scallops were amazing… for me and to share we had an order of edamame, a kanisu, a spicy salmon tiradito, and Isabella sushi roll which I loved it!! We’ll be back for sure… at least once a month!!! Bravo!

Google
The food was amazing!!! The staff was so kind and treated us like family as soon as we walked in, they gave us so many great dishes, which were very delicious! They even gave us things for free just to try out. They have a very great quiet enviroment way you can eat your food and enjoy some comfortable seating and some great dessert options as well. 10 out of 10 recommend

Google
Buffet quality of food Cheap sashimi, cheap food Cheap roll, high price You can easily find something similar at a Japanese buffet restaurant This is not an authentic Japanese restaurant

Ale Venegas

Google
Good food and nice servers, they bring out the orders at different times which makes it a little uncomfortable when you're with in a group. They have an extensive menu you'll definitely find something good to eat even if you're not a sushi fan.

Google
Best sushi restaurant, no discussion! Our family has been going to this spot for a long time and the service is always great. When you walk in you most certainly will feel welcomed, there’s always large happy families there. The rolls are to die for!! I’ve never heard anyone complain about the food there. If I could I would give it 6/5 stars.

Daniel Serra

Google
Snobby people make the atmosphere a bit uncomfortable by lacking manners, being rude, giving looks and blocking the entrance to the restaurant (I have visited many times and it’s always the same) Overall the food is great, sadly the service lacks a bit. The biggest downside it’s the clientele to be honest…it brings the place down

Google
I went to Miyako for lunch. The restaurant was spacious, bright, and pleasant. The restaurant has two sections for traditional Japanese seating. I saw them preparing several humongous boats of sushi there. I ordered chicken katsu curry and some sushi. The food tasted wonderful, quite fresh and authentic. The staffs speak English, Japanese, and Spanish – I heard them greeting other customer in those languages. They are very friendly and attentive. Overall I had a nice experience here. I would come back again to try dinner. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Cute little Japanese spot in South Miami, honestly I don't know how I didn't try them earlier. Our waitresses English was limited, but she was very cute and helpful. The food came out relatively quickly, and I have to say it was very tasty. I'm definitely going back to try other items on the menu.

Yelp
I have been coming here for years and love this place! The service is always great and friendly, and the atmosphere is nice. There are options to sit on a chair or on the floor. The food is good quality, and it comes out quickly. I came here before I was vegetarian, and they had nice boat options to share. Now that I am vegetarian, I ask them to make me custom veggie rolls, and I appreciate that greatly. I hope to be coming here for many more years to come!

Yelp
A great selection of fresh sushi for a reasonable price in South Miami. I come here frequently and usually switch between ordering the boat (if I'm with friends) or the Sashimi Mori entree. The Sashimi Mori is a delicious platter of just fish. It comes with a side of white rice, but I usually tell the server to hold it because the fish alone is very filling. The plate features a fresh selection of thickly cut salmon, tuna, hamachi, imitation crab, and a couple of slices of octopus. It's always extremely fresh. It also comes with either a ginger salad or miso soup. The ginger dressing is great. I have also tried the following rolls that I highly recommend: Spider Roll American Roll Dragon Roll Dadeland Roll A (for a healthier option) Service is good and the ambiance is nice. You can dress casually or a bit on the nicer end, either work.

Yelp
Great and friendly service. Found the place to appear very clean from the get go which is great when visiting for the first time. Quality and taste was great. Only reason it's not 5 stars, they cut the sushi way too thick for my liking. I prefer the smaller cut/diameter. The tuna tataki (not show) was also cut very thick.

Shawnty M.

Yelp
This is my boo and I's favorite spot to munch. I usually get the red dragon roll which is good, but I highly recommend they add some eel sauce to it for some extra flavor. My boo on the other hand is a little bit on the basic side and only gets a California Roll. However, last time we were in attendance my boo had ordered a fried rice. I regret to inform you all, it was not their best work. Don't get me wrong, we have had this rice before and it was delish. This time it had a bit of a ciggy taste if you know what I mean.

Lauren K.

Yelp
I go here a lot and every time the food is DELICIOUS. All the servers are very kind and the owners will check on you. There isn't blasting music so it's a very relaxing eating experience. Very cute place and soooo reasonably priced for the amount of food you are getting. Fish is fresh and delicious. 100% recommend to anyone going to Miami.

Lidia C.

Yelp
We just love this place. Writing this because the sushi we had last night was the best we have ever had. The temperature was perfect, the layer of scallions was perfect, the tuna was perfect. Very good sized, not little tidbits. Ask for Angel to be your server. She has always been the best and so accommodating. Highly recommend.

Gerry L.

Yelp
It's been a while since my wife and I have eaten in Miyako of South Miami and this past Thursday we decided to give a try. Located in the ever great South Miami area you will find this independent owned Japanese restaurant. They have been here for many years and serve fresh and authentic Sushi. We decided to order the Mori for two which consist of California roll, Tuna roll with scallions, and twenty pieces of nigiri served on one of their Sushi boats. Thankfully we came hungry and were satisfied with good quality of the sushi. The staff were super nice and fast with the orders and the interior of the restaurant feel like a hidden Tokyo eatery.

Yelp
I don't live in Florida. My best friend lives here. I came to visit with my 4 year old son. Who wanted his raw salmon. First about the service. Friendly waitress and no one was there when walked in. One couple. Then it started to get busy. We order. Miso soup with tofu and rice for the little one. Then sashimi salon. This was $24 but she said this was the smaller one. Wow! But it was delicious. I ordered seaweed salad. And the Daimyo Maki roll and I wasn't too impressed. I ate only half. It looked good but I would suggest a different roll. It didn't have a lot of taste to it. They charge you for miso soup. The places I've been, if you order rolls or sashimi it comes with it (I guess I'm just too spoiled for our sushi place back home) But not a big deal. It was the cheapest of what I ordered. My bill with Miso soup, side of white rice for the soup, seaweed salad, salmon sashimi, and Daimyo Maki roll came out to $59 lol. Ummm yeah. No. Especially with the roll not being that good. If I could take it back I'd get something else :) I would give it 3 stars for the cost. But the quality of the food and service deserves 4 stars!

Yelp
My co workers treated me to lunch for my birthday and I guess we didn't realize they close for lunch at 2:30. Even though we walked in 10 minutes prior, the server politely sat us down and immediately took our orders. I was bummed they didn't have a Spicy Crab Roll because that's my safe pick at Sushi spots but they compensated with having w delicious Volcano Roll. I don't typically drink soda but since they had several flavors of Ramune, I caved in. The service was spectacular! Because of the time we arrived, it was obviously not noisy or crowded. Next time I'll probably sit on the ground (yes, they do have that as an option) for the experience.

Linda A.

Yelp
I had a great experience coming here! The restaurant is decorated nicely with a real Asian feel to it. In the front window of the restaurant near ..the TV, there's even a nice spot to sit down and eat on the floor Asian style and I've actually done this kind of activity before which is alot of fun. The restaurant lighting is nice and dimmed, and I ordered their jumbo sushi roll special, so I went for their tuna roll which was huge in portions! The roll was actually cut into thin, plentiful slices which were just extra delicious and huge to put in my mouth! I saw about 4 tables in total dining inside, place was very busy and there were still people coming in. Customer service was fabulous here too! But I definitely did enjoy this jumbo tuna special dish and being that this place is in an extremely convenient area in the heart of South Miami, I'd definitely come back here for their extra delicious sushi which was fresh and just SO good! Especially being I was a first timer here!

Alana F.

Yelp
Great service. Very good rolls. Quality fish. Options. I'm a sushi snob and been eating it for 42 years (I'm 47) and I would come here again.

Caitlin B.

Yelp
I ordered the Diamyo Maki Roll and it wasn't good. It was huge and bland. Fish wasn't fresh. My friend didn't like his roll either. Wouldn't go back.

Cristina W.

Yelp
This restaurant offers floor seating if you are looking to change things up a bit for your sushi night! We opted to order a sushi boat for 2 and a few warm dishes - the katsu don and the pork katsu curry. The gohan dishes were very tasty and worth coming back for. The sushi was good, but not great - the variety of the fish was not very large, but hit the crowdpleasers: shrimp, salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. I would have preferred more of a variety myself, but at least the fish was fresh and tasty. I a not very fond of the imitation crab nigiri, and would much rather have a tamago (egg) than fish cake pretending to be crab... but that is ok. Overall a lovely dining experience, and will be back for some homey gohan dishes in the future!

Tianyi J.

Yelp
Really good sushi, but my big boyfriend could not fit in the sit down chair. Otherwise good, they have normal chairs too.

Brandon P.

Yelp
For me, this place was fantastic. The service and sushi were absolutely amazing. Excellent restaurant and has nice setting, a pleasant atmosphere. The tempura has good crisp and so tasty. The rolls and sushi were so fresh. Great variety of rolls and everything taste good. A bit pricey but it has good portion size.

Sylvia G.

Yelp
The best spot for sushi, veggie stir fry, dumpling, gyoza, salad, soup, and anything and everything else. I always get the veggie stir fry and my fiancé gets the patty monkey, sunset, or the Diana roll. All three are amazing just different. The sunset is fried to perfection with tuna on top. The patty monkey is sweet and savory at the same time. The Diana is a crab based roll that is amazing. The staff here is the best around! We come here at least once a week. If you are in miami this is a must.

David A.

Yelp
I have been going to Myako's for over 10 years. It's the only Sushi place I go to. The quality of food, customer service, environment, is above everything else I recommend the Cucumber Salad, Volcano Roll, and Donuts for desert.

Sacha M.

Yelp
I used to come to this place a lot in college and loved not only the food but the prices. I haven't gone in a while so decided to go again recently and felt like the food was still pretty good quality! I feel like their food quality might have changed a little (or maybe my vague college night memories might have) but it is still a pretty decent place! I love that they're still traditional in their seating on the floor with the cushions and that the service is still great!

Valeree Y.

Yelp
So much goodness! The butter scallops was full of flavor. The mushrooms soaked up the flavor with its own tastes. We ordered hand rolls and asked for something off the menu that we get in other sushi restaurants. Lucky, they delivered and it was great to have this option!

J L.

Yelp
ordered a few plates did not enjoy any. The meat was very tough looked like can food so did the chicken. California roll was very bland basic. Not the best

Ed W.

Yelp
I don't know why I haven't written a review yet but here it goes... I have been coming here for years and it is always good. Very consistent service and food. Here you will always find fresh fish for sushi... but their cooked meals are also notable. The sea bass with spinach is so good. The Ramen is good.. definitely not the best but it is $10.00 and has a rich broth that can warm your heart. Ambiance is very kid friendly and having the floor seating option is always appealing to them. Sushi boats are very affordable for 2 or 3 people. Give it a try.

Paossica R.

Yelp
OMG WOW!! This is possibly my second time here, and again, can't stop daydreaming about this place. The food, is truly amazing. Quality fresh raw fish(which should be a given). Presentation was pretty awesome also. And the service! It was pretty busy considering it was a Saturday night, but we still got a table with no wait. The server was attentive and made sure to answer all our questions and checked on us thoroughly. The staff(possibly manager) also came to check on us and made us feel very welcome. Overall, definitely a great pick for our date night!

Shan G.

Yelp
This place was super cute and soooo yummy! It was a bit dead when I went (around 5pm) but it picked up as I was leaving. My server was friendly and helpful, but he was struggling a bit since it was his first day. He forgot my seaweed salad appetizer, but I totally understand. He was new so I let it slide with no complaints. My sparkling sake was super yummy and it was hard to refrain from ordering another bottle. The prices are very reasonable for the entrees, but I wish they had more appetizer options. When I finally got my seaweed salad, it was much different from any other seaweed I've had before - but still very yummy as long as you add the dressing to it. I also ordered the USA roll and I think I honestly inhaled it lol. It was delicious! Sitting at the bar area is also nice since you can watch the sushi chefs make your food. There is tons of parking since it's located in a shopping plaza. They also have a booth area with a low table and pillows so you can eat in a tradition Japanese way - which I will definitely do next time. the atmosphere is very nice & I think this would be an idea date spot. Overall, the prices are reasonable, staff is friendly, food is delicious, and I definitely recommend checking it out!

Jeanne W.

Yelp
It's not all that.. the miso was very bland had no tofu or seaweed... it's fresh but just OK. Nothing out of this ordinary...

Veronica P.

Yelp
The staff was friendly, the sushi was just ok. The two rolls we ordered came with way too much rice (making it difficult to fit a single piece in your mouth). The ingredients also didnt taste as fresh as I would have liked. The menu has good variety so maybe I'll come back and try their noodles

Timothy S.

Yelp
Stopped in tonight for some amazing sushi and saki. The Service was great, angel took care if us and was extremely helpful. Restaurant is set up very covid safe and well spaced out. The rolls were fresh and delicious and soooo large. Cannot wait to stop in again.

Stella T.

Yelp
The sushi here is just not good. It is a huge chunk of rice with a tiny piece of mediocre fish. Ordered 3 rolls, they were ginormous rice pinwheels. I should have taken a picture of the Alaska roll it was pretty funny, the crab was like a tiny flake of dry crab surrounded by a fist roll of rice. Let me not even get started on the gross tasting sour spicy tuna!

Yamile C.

Yelp
Nice spot for sushi. I've been here a few times and have never had bad experience. Food is always fresh, prices are reasonable, restaurant always clean and the service is excellent. The restaurant is small but I've never had to wait long for a table...service is quick. Recommend if in the South Miami area.

Tracy W.

Yelp
I love the traditional seating on the floor with cushions. It's a really fun and relaxing evening to sit at the traditional floor seating, order a sushi boat and a bottle of Sake and just relax and let go and let yourself be taken care of. And the food is very well done. Very good. Highly recommended.

Natalis G.

Yelp
We got the love boat and the fish was not fresh what so ever. As we get sushi 1 or 2 times a week we can differentiate between good, FRESH sashimi and bad, fishy sashimi. We told the server the fish was fishy and she said she would speak to the manager. The manager said there was nothing they could do for us as the sushi looked fine and we proceeded to ask if they tried the sushi and they said no. As something may look fresh to the eye may not be when you actually taste it. The miso soup tasted like it was made with dirty water as well. -1/10 experience with food and management.

Lois G.

Yelp
This is our go-to comfort neighborhood restaurant where everyone knows your name and your order! Service always kind and great. On-site management style!

Cathy L.

Yelp
Absolutely the worse experience .. the salmon isn't mentioned on the menu as it being farmed raised .. be careful because you will get sick ... never again .. and oh by the way .. the answering manager is totally rude and inconsiderate.

Gilbert S.

Yelp
Came here at 9:29pm. Clearly states everywhere they close at 10. They won't seat me. I said it's posted you close at 10... the manager says "oh that's for takeout" lol. So they only list times for take out on yelp, google everywhere. Liar. Don't come here. Enough with these lazy managers/owners/employees (whoever this guy was). Stop being such a terrible business person. Stop being lazy. If you post that you close at 10, stick to it. I drove 20 mins to come here, of course assuming if I arrive by 930 I'll be fine. Losers.

Claudia C.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant, everything was great and the service was impeccable. The safety measures for Corina virus were so great that they made me feel comfortable. Personally this my favorite sushi is from this restaurant. 100% recommended to everyone and it is truly one of my favorite restaurants. Highly recommended. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful

Bergman P.

Yelp
Always my favorite sushi restaurant Order the partymonkey lol well it sounds like that

Frederick D.

Yelp
Third or fourth time eating from / at Miyakos. We got take out this time and have always enjoyed it. Asked for 2 regular salads, one miso, one chirashi sashimi bowl and one order of pork teriyaki. It's high grade sashimi on a nice bed of rice with tobiko. Love the ginger dressed salad and the miso soup is done right here. Even though it was a take out order was well packaged and came out perfect for our TV dinner. It's not cheap but then again you get what you pay for.

Sarah P.

Yelp
My son and I were in the area and hungry - and fell upon this place... We decided to go inside, having not read any reviews or having any pre conceived ideas... we stopped for a quick bite, having looked through the windows an saw that it was busy and packed - even on a Wednesday night - which in my book is a good sign! ...We had a sushi dish called the Pinecrest and it was delicious... very delicate, all the flavours gelled and worked together.... Too hungry and too rushed to take a photograph, which proves we enjoyed it...It was humming with commotion inside, everything seemed rushed, it looked to me like regulars go here. The ambience is busy, the décor - old school and a little tired. We will definitely go back, next time for a more leisurely stop, than a snack on the fly when we were starving and rushed..

Marie I.

Yelp
First time here (2-2-22), and will definitely be back! The decor has a simple Asian vibe (with an area for floor seating), and our food and service couldn't have been better. Our server, Glynnis (sorry if not spelled correctly ;)) was an absolute doll! She was super attentive and our drinks and food were timely and delicious. I'd gotten the dinner combo of tempura, cali roll, and chicken teriyaki (which comes with soup or salad) and it was great - don't think I've ever had tempura that hot and crispy. Also ordered at our table were the Hosomaki combo, a sushi forward dinner combo, and a couple of other rolls. All tasted fresh and delicious. Highly recommend :)

Marcus H.

Yelp
I am sorry, but it was the worst sushi experience I ever had. Old and gummy rice, gyoza was also really bad and almost everything was tasteless. First and last time that i go here. All other sushi restaurants in the area are better.

Cathy O.

Yelp
I took my daughters here when they were little, and we had a great time sitting on the floor at the very low tables. Years later, one of my daughters and I stopped in before heading to the movies at Sunset Place. She loves sushi, but wasn't pleased with the selections. She was looking for something with crispy shrimp, avocado and I think something else, that she said was easily found on most menus. She settled on Ramen noodles for $12. I thought that sounded crazy expensive for Ramen, but when the dish arrived it was better than it sounded. I ordered the yakisoba noodles with chicken. The food was good, but we just weren't wowed.

Turbo Smurf X.

Yelp
This used to be our go to place for take out sushi. Used to be. They have raised their prices and the quality has dropped. Ordered a sashimi of hamachi and it wasn't pacific yellow tail. No way. Ordered two sushi salmon roe and the eggs were deflated and stale. Sushi pieces and rolls were mostly rice and not main ingredients. Very disappointing for a once reasonable dining experience.

Maisha C.

Yelp
OMG!! Amazing!! Great sushi rolls, the rocket was my fave! Got a tuna tower with avocado, a ceviche, a fish carpaccio and 2 rolls and the fish was suuper fresh! I've never had a fish that would melt in your mouth like butter!! Honestly Im not a fan of raw fish and I eat everything and felt in love. The host is amazing and all the staff super friendly! Very nice environment too!

Drelly R.

Yelp
If you want best sushi food/ good deal, must go to Miyako. My favorite is B Combination

Nicole A.

Yelp
Love this place. The staff is so friendly and the food is amazing we got the isabela roll and Miami hurricane. I recommend 100% :)

Jose P.

Yelp
Rosie was awesome and she led us in the right direction to what to eat!! All I can remember since I was a little bit over the alcohol limit is "PADDY MONKEY"!!! This is what needs to be ordered when eating here trust me you won't go wrong. I can't really remember what else we ordered that night but let's say we ate a lot! And all the rolls were delicious! Rosie kept us with full glasses of water and drinks, she had a smile on from ear to ear. She was just delightful. Thank you for being such an amazing server with superb service! If you have the opportunity to have her wait your table you won't be disappointed.

Carlos F.

Yelp
Our favorite sushi restaurant! Big portions and even bigger flavors! Excellent and friendly service.

Jonathan P.

Yelp
Rude service. What a shame because the sushi is actually really delicious. Once seated we were completely ignored for quite some time, and once we actually received our food it became a race of time. We were unapologetically rushed out, our food was picked up off the table before we even finished, you would think they would be kind enough to ask. Just had an overall bad experience compared to our other visits. Probably not coming back...

Dr. C.

Yelp
Sorry but this place has gone downhill since last I came here. Although crowded the quality of the sushi is just not there. Hopefully it will get better next time...

Arturo B.

Yelp
Miyako is the traditional sushi place in South Miami. To us, it is the typical Japanese spot and it offers tatami seating (seating area where you take your shoes off and sit on the floor). We really enjoy the sushi here and that's why we are regulars. While it may not be the 'best' in South Florida, I think it is really good and fresh - some type of fish may be chewier than others, so I deal with texture by 'enhancing' the flavor with wasabi or soy. As a matter of fact, we like this place so much that our order never changes since we first visited: a boat for two, or "love boat" as they call it. The following items are included: Miso Soup and/or Ginger Salad Sashimi: tuna, salmon, hamachi, scallop, and halibut Nigiri: salmon, tuna, hamachi, halibut, and shrimp Sushi: salmon roll, California roll Steamed shrimp with cocktail sauce I always get ponzu for my tuna. I love how the tangy flavor of ponzu goes with the natural flavor of tuna. It's just tasty and delicious. It even goes well with the fish... but that's just me. Service is outstanding. The waitresses already know us. As soon as we arrive, she is placing our order and making sure we are seated in our favorite table. She even remembers our substitutions. Props for that! A for food, A+ for service.
