"High atop the Hyatt Centric in Charlotte’s SouthPark neighborhood sits Japanese restaurant Mizu ready to open any day now. The forthcoming eatery comes from the Indigo Road Hospitality group, which runs other Charlotte spots like O-ku, Indaco, and Oak Steakhouse. Mizu will focus on wood-fired seafood with the star of the kitchen being a robatayaki, which is a traditional grill often found in Japanese izakaya. “The robata serves as the main inspiration for the menu, using it to create dishes with ingredients from mushrooms to Yellowtail cheeks and lobster,” says chef Michael Chanthavong. The menu will incorporate Japanese flavors with Southern produce and products. The Mizu dining room is midcentury modern plus upscale izakaya with sweeping views of the Charlotte skyline. There’s a large terrace for outdoor rooftop dining and drinking, as well as a chef’s table, and lounging areas. Take a tour of Mizu here before the imminent opening on Thursday, August 12." - Erin Perkins

Took my man here for his birthday this past weekend and Mizu did not disappoint! Our server Ivey was the best! We received a complimentary appetizer of the negi ma & and a complimentary old fashion. Both were AMAZING, the drinks we ordered were spectacular! The crab fried rice, and pork buns were delish, and the dragon sushi was made to perfection. We sat outside it was such a nice sunrise and way to celebrate his birthday. We will definitely be back soon!

We really enjoyed our anniversary dinner at Mizu! Everything we had was delicious and the staff was so kind and attentive. The view of the city from the restaurant is also very nice. We will definitely come back!

We decided to go for happy hour sushi specials. There were only a few options so we got most of them to share. The sushi rolls were good but nothing amazing. The robata was pretty boring and didn't encourage us to order any off of the regular menu. The hand roll options looked good but were impossible to eat. Mine ended up all over the table. Our server was good but the food was slow. I overheard another server apologizing to another table about the slowness and blaming it on happy hour. They have happy hour twice a week and I would think should know how to handle that limited menu. Cocktails were pretty and tasted delightful but I'm not sure had much alcohol in them at all. I'll be happy to return to Mr. Tokyo for my future sushi needs.

Went for their first day of spring event, Mizu in bloom. Free passed apps, all were very good. Just had to order drinks if you so choose. The corn dog was my absolute fave. The drinks were great but a bit pricey, but I guess in the times we are in it’s expected to pay $15 or more for something. They did have a few a lil cheaper. Great rooftop dining views when the weather is right.

Google
A wonderful dining experience! We had dinner and sat in front of the grill for a great foodie experience watching the staff and chefs prepare meals. Started off with a strawberry Rita and sake sangria. Both were delicious and would highly recommend. For appetizers we had the edamame and crab fried rice. Would recommend trying their spicy mayo with the crab fried rice to elevate the flavor a bit more. Added in the maguro heat sushi roll and it blew my mind! Gotta try!

If you’re looking to impress someone (or just treat yourself), head to the 9th floor of the Hyatt Centric Hotel in SouthPark and check out Mizu. The vibe is upscale but relaxed, with clean lines, warm wood tones, and a mix of table seating and open kitchen views. The bar area glows softly at night, and the rooftop patio brings in the real wow factor. String lights, a wide open skyline, and sunset views of Charlotte set the tone for a perfect spring evening. Savannah was my server and couldn’t have been more helpful. She walked me through the menu and helped narrow down some of the top picks. The menu is broken into robata grilled items, small and large plates, sushi, and a chilled and raw section. Honestly, I could have ordered everything, but my wallet had other plans. I started with the seared tuna in citrus ponzu. Thin slices of lightly crusted tuna were served in a flavorful sauce that didn’t overpower the freshness of the fish. From the robata section, I got the Negi Ma, which came with two skewers of teriyaki-glazed flank steak. There was plenty of meat, and it had a nice char from the grill without being dry. The standout was the Iron Man sushi roll. It had spicy tuna and cucumber inside, then was topped with flank steak, chimichurri, and a drizzle of ponzu. Every bite had heat, acid, and richness. It was bold without being too much. Everything I tried was thoughtfully prepared, and the service was smooth from start to finish. With good weather, city views, and a menu built for sharing, this is a solid choice for a date night or a night out with friends. Just make sure to book a reservation if you want a rooftop table.

Google
1000/10 experience. The food was amazing and came in larger portions but you get what you pay for. The view was amazing and loved taking pictures there, the staff was incredibly kind and made the experience all the better. Definitely an underrated restaurant and would come back any day!

Beautiful place ,we enjoyed sushi they were soft and delicious, big choice of wine and cocktails! Duck was beautiful but little bit not enough cooked (with juice blood) Waiter Jason was polite and did complimentary grilled pineapple for us ,but gift was cost 2$ )))we noticed and he remove from check

Yelp
Service was good--waitress was attentive and polite. Ambience was intimate, moody, and chill. Food was delicious--they had gluten free options and a nice sake selection. I recommended for a date night and will be returning!

Yelp
My first visit here started off very slow and weird. For starters I sat at the bar area with a friend and wait for almost 15 min without getting a glass of water or asking what would I like to drink. Two other couples came in and sat at the bar and were served drinks before myself. Then when it came to ordering our food they only took her order as I guess maybe they bartender assumed we were eating together. After all of that things got little better once they realized we were together. The attentiveness wasn't at the level I would expect for this restaurant. The food was blah really no flavor at all minus the duck which was great. The decor and presentation of the food is lovely but i expected much more flavor. I would revisit again to check out service from others. The sunset views was nice to look at and I can see myself with a glass of wine or sake on the rooftop relaxing and enjoying the view.

Yelp
Mizu has become one of my absolute favorite spots--a true staple for any occasion! Whether it's a fun girls' night out or a cozy date night, the vibe is always on point. The sushi rolls are top-tier, and the chicken sticks are one of my go-to orders. I love how cute and intimate the setting is; it's perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying a special evening. Every experience at Mizu feels elevated, and the quality of the food never disappoints!

Lauren C.

Yelp
Wonderful food, drinks, and ambience. One of the best rooftop spots in Charlotte for a before dinner cocktail in the summer. I've had good experiences with staff/service at each visit as well.

Yelp
My lady brought home their new Happy Hour food menu so we decided to give them a try. There are not a lot of after 10pm options in the Southpark area, a definitely no sushi options, so Mizu could be on to something here. And from our visit last night, I would say they are well on their way to establishing themselves as a new, go to late happy hour spot on weekdays and weekends. First, a couple of things to note. This restaurant is located at the top of the Hyatt, so you will need to park in the adjacent parking garage as they are very few on street parking spots available. When you enter the hotel, you can head to the back of the lobby where you will find a bank of elevators that will take you up to the ninth floor. Immediately upon exiting the elevator, and entering the restaurant, you will see the bar to the right, which is the only place the happy hour menu is offered. The bar has approximately 10 to 12 seats and then a couple of high tables and a living room-like lounge set up. There were two bartenders working last night, and a couple of seats available at the bar, so we sat there. Service was good and attentive. We ordered the shrimp, crunchy roll, the tuna, crunchy roll, the pork belly buns, and the firecracker shrimp. all four dishes were excellent. I would probably rate the firecracker shrimp number one, and then both of the rolls two and three with the buns coming in fourth. The sushi was fresh, sizable in portion, and for less than $10, definitely a value in the Southpark area. The only catch to the happy hour scene, and it's not just Mizu, is the fact that they cannot offer happy hour drink specials to accompany the food specials. Both of our drinks ended up costing several dollars more than any of the individual entrées, which is kind of a bummer when you are specifically targeting something in the happy hour price range. That being said, I definitely think this is going to be a heavily frequented happy hour once word gets out. The restaurant has a great view, although we were unable to enjoy it last night due to the rain and fog. But will definitely be back soon to try out the dinner menu.

Yelp
Just left Mizu for the first and couldn't wait any longer to share my experience. Absolute 5-stars. The customer service was top notch. Kind, attentive, and intentional. Ambiance is romantic - def a great date night place. The food was EXCELLENT. We ordered the pork belly buns and the Yaki-Tori (chicken skewers), and Brussels as appetizers. The buns were good - just wish the meat was a tad bit thicker slices/chunks to balance out the thickness of the bun. The Yaki was so juicy and flavorful. The Brussels were crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside - so yummy!! My only wish was that the plate was bigger lol For our entrees I ordered the NY strip and he ordered the Pork Chop. Very juicy cuts of meat. The cauliflower puree and sweet potato puree balanced the plate. I wish I could've requested more of the cauliflower puree lol. Clearly by my desire to want more of almost everything I will definitely return. Thank you to the manager and our waitress for the excellent service.

Yelp
Whew. Sexy. I love a restaurant that drips with confidence and the service, food AND PRICE align in one beautiful package. If I could give 10 stars I would. I booked a reservation on Open Table with ease. I booked it for NYE becausseeee I wasn't sure if we would have plans for later and I at least wanted to have SOME plans. Ok sorry focus... Location: It's at the top of a new hotel (sorry I can't remember the name of the hotel ..eek) in South Park. It's in the same shopping meca as Steak 48. (IYKYK and I've got my eyeball on that restaurant to try next.) Take the elevator to the 9th floor and hang a left and you'll be in the restaurant. Ambiance: Please see first few words for my first initial reaction. It's sleek, sexy, dark, mysterious and overall beautifully done. I'm a Scorpio and It spoke to my inner "diva" way. The view is decent in terms of overlooking the area. There was a killer sunset and I saw MULTIPLE people taking photos out on the patio. Yes there is a patio. I didn't , however cuz...BRRRR ...t'was a freezing night for me. Ya'll have fun with them there patio photos lol! Service/Food: ugh. So flipping good. I had two (yes two) Lychee Martinis while Hubbers had a Moscow Mule. Both delicious. We ordered several sushi rolls and they were all delicious. I had the Oysters and for the first time in a while they were NOT fishy and were delicately fresh. No crackers, horseradish or anything NEEDED to cover up the fishy taste. They don't offer those side items with the oysters anyway. That's how confident they are in their product!!! Pure joy. The price for sushi rolls is very on par of other nice sushi restaurants so we didn't break the bank. Hubbers was happy about that! lol Overall: Loved every moment of my experience and food here. Run. Don't walk. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Yelp
Mizu has quickly become one of my go-to spots, especially for their late-night happy hour. The menu may be short, but it's definitely sweet, offering some great options. One of the best things about Mizu is that it's one of the few restaurants that stay open past 10 pm, which is hard to find. Plus, their rooftop provides a lovely view, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing night out. Highly recommend!

Lori S.

Yelp
Came here for the ambiance--twice! Located in a nice area of Charlotte. Perfect for a date night since they have an outdoor seating area and sports bar. Great service from staff. On the more expensive side. Food was good but there are no entrees and few appetizers for vegetarians/vegans. (primarily a seafood restaurant )

John S.

Yelp
Now offering brunch on Sundays. If you are looking for something different and tasty - brunch with a Japanese twist. All the food was good and service was top notch. Quick note - their brunch starts at 11am on Sundays only.

Emma E.

Yelp
Yeah this was not my favorite food - please note I am rating for the food by itself and the prices nothing else. We ordered room service to our hotel room and so I can't comment on the ambiance service etc. I rate base on my expectations - unfortunately, the food was below my expectations - 2/5 overall. We ordered the shrimp crunch roll, the chicken teriyaki skewers and the chicken katsu sliders. Overall we spent $50 for all three, so it was about $15 a piece per dish. Keep in mind we ordered one of the cheapest rolls and the other two are apps, so entrees will run $30-50. For $50 we had plenty of food so portions were overall good. The shrimp crunch roll was very average and kinda dry. The crab on top was real crab which was great and it was fresh the shrimp was also well cooked. It was a lot of avocado in the roll which felt like it overpowered it a bit. The roll was also suuuper warm. So overall not the best sushi I've had but not the worst - 3/5. The chicken teriyaki skewers were good. Flavor was nice the chicken was juicy. Good portion for an appetizer. One piece of the chicken was a big rubbery, overall this wasn't the norm so I may have gotten a bad piece. But overall this dish was good, just very simple - chicken on a stick with teriyaki sauce and some black and white sesame seeds. 3/5 The chicken katsu sliders were horrible. The buns were dry the chicken was so thin it was almost all breading (yes I know chicken katsu is thin breaded chicken but this was like paper thin). The sauce was basically non existent. One tiny dot on the bun. Dry no flavor. Not good. 1/5. Not sure if dining in person brings this up a notch but I didn't feel like this was the best Japanese food I've ever had and probably wouldn't bother going in person.

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mizu for a second time, and I must say, just as much as I was impressed the first time, the second time was amazing! My girl friend was visiting from out of town, so I decided to make reservations here for us. Let me tell you, she was in awe the moment she walked in, and trust me, she has amazing taste. The ambiance is stunning; the lighting, decor, and overall atmosphere were incredibly romantic and alluring. It was the perfect setting for a nice dinner with my friend or a date night.  We decided to order: Tuna Crunch Nigiri (Yellowtail) Maguro Heat Bisol "Jeio" Prosecco Hype Beast When it came to the food, I have to say, it was simply amazing. The flavors were perfectly balanced and the presentation was stunning. The Nigiri was divine - I could have just those as meal. We both agreed that our dishes were absolutely delicious! Aside from the food and ambiance, the service at Mizu was excellent. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive while still giving us enough space to enjoy our meal and conversation. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better dining experience. Mizu truly exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic and delicious meal.

Caleb B.

Yelp
First of all, their steak is the whole reason we came to Charlotte in the first place. Incredible sear, not as tender as it could've been to be "wagyu filet" but still amazing nonetheless. The only thing that I don't like is when I requested sweet wine I got the most bitter and nasty things ever. Granted I know nothing about wine and they did an incredible job with everything else. I don't even know if there is such thing as a wine that is on the sweeter side to be honest because I haven't been to a restaurant yet that's gotten it right. I didn't eat on the rooftop just had room service delivered but when I did go up there it was an incredible looking place with nice lighting and a great vibe. Lovely place all in all, just doesn't seem to know the wine that well.

Nesha M.

Yelp
The 5 course tasting menu was everything a girl could ask for in her special day. The staff chef's and bakers served all of the food and described each course with amazing details. The views from the patio and the kitchen are to die for. We will definitely be back.

S G.

Yelp
I am going to start off by saying this is a beautiful restaurant. The style/decor and lay out is perfection from the hotel lobby and throughout the hotel. The sunset from this rooftop is also quite spectacular. Service: The hostess needs training. She provided a deadpan stare upon our entry with no greeting, simply "do you have a reservation"...I said "Hello" twice before she finally provided a proper greeting. Not a great start. Our waitress was very friendly and informative. I think they may have been short staffed because it took a long time for her to get back to us a few times for which she was apologetic. Food: I was unable to enjoy quite a few items on the menu because anything fried is fried in the same oil in which a popular allergen is cooked in...Shrimp. There's no reason why reused oil contains contents of popular allergens like pork or any type of shellfish. It was quite disappointing. I could not get fried red snapper or the potatoes or sweet potatoes in my roll...it was very limiting. But I'm grateful that I was informed because I did not carry my pen that evening so....that would've been disastrous Cleanliness: Tables weren't being cleared off and cleaned properly and we had to watch our waitress wipe contents off the table with her bare hand for us to sit. My biggest ick was when I went to the restroom and a waitress flushed the toilet, exited the stall and walked right outside the restroom without washing her hands. I was frozen in pure shock. Not a drop of water or soap. The thought of her touching eating utensils, cups, plates, tabletops, cards, receipts just made me nauseous. That behavior is 1000% unacceptable and quite frankly gross. I wish I had followed her to put in a complaint but I did not come to ensure health code protocol. I told my friend what happened and we left. I'm sad it ended this way and would've loved to return but with limited menu options due to a shellfish allergy and employees not washing their hands after using the restroom...I would not recommend.

Shay N.

Yelp
Went to Mizu for the first time during restaurant week & was blown away!!! The food was so so good, and the drinks were top notch. This is the perfect date night / celebration spot and has the coolest views from the rooftop.

Andrea H.

Yelp
We wanted to love it, but couldn't. The service was spotty, she was either all about us or nowhere to be found for 15-20 minutes at a time. We sat at the row of tables when you first walk in- where there is a long banquette on one side and chairs on the other. The tables are way too close together and there is no need to squeeze people in like that where you could literally lean over and eat off the next table's plate! We had people 2 tables away on each side of us and they were listening to our conversation and we were hardly talking loudly, so we starting whispering so they couldn't hear us. Not a good start. We both ordered the pork chop. When the dishes came out, hers was a pork chop, but mine was not. They gave me some kind of red meat. At first glance the shape of the meats were similar, but you could clearly tell they weren't the same meat. I waited for the server to come back but no sign of her. So my friend was happy to take my dish and swap her pork chop with me. (see my photos below and you can tell the difference of the 2 meats). By the time the server did return, it was way too late to be sending food back or even acknowledge the error. No reason to go back and try again.

Maddie K.

Yelp
Went here for my friends 30th birthday with a group of 20 of us. They sat us privately in the side room right by entrance. It was so nice having our own room with this large of group! The service was great. Drinks took a little time but everyone ordered cocktails so that can be understandable. With a large group, they had a prefixed menu for us. They brought out a ton of appetizers and entrees "tapa" style to share. One recommendation I'd make note of is that they really fill you up on the appetizers and small bites before bringing out the main entrees. I wish we didn't fill up so fast before the more expensive items came out! Overall, the place is adorable and the rooftop is great for summertime! It is pricey so make sure you're ready to splurge a little. I'll be back!

Lindsey B.

Yelp
The service and ambiance were lovely. But the food wasn't the best unfortunately. I had the crab fried rice, eggplant, and grilled pineapple dessert.

LaShawn R.

Yelp
Decided to celebrate my birthday at MIZU, and it was one of the best decisions ever very intimate setting with soft music playing in the background. They have floor to ceiling, windows and a rooftop area to see the views of the city. The servers were amazing. The food was delicious. I feel like I celebrated my birthday at the right restaurant this year. I'll definitely be back in the future.

Shari V.

Yelp
This review is based primarily on the service. I can unequivocally say that I have never had such poor service, inconsistent service. I decided to go to this restaurant at the suggestion of the front desk attendant. I was looking to enjoy a good dinner at the bar; which he said they had, so I headed upstairs. Entering the restaurant the low lit and the open kitchen were a vibe. I also noticed a beautiful patio so I asked the hostess could I sit out there, she said yes do I headed out. I sat out there for approximately five minutes and whom I believed was the manager, came out and chatted with me and he was very pleasant. When he left, no one came to ask me for my drink order or to provide me with a menu; however in the section next to me a table was being serviced. So when that waitress walked past me I asked her was she my waitress. She said, "no", and then went on to say I would need to get my drinks and food from the bar, I followed with; "Will I need to bring it out here to my table myself as well"? she said no. I went back inside ordered and collected my drink. This interaction was pretty much the culmination of my evening; self-serve. My food was ok, nothing great and not unpalatable. The most amazing part of my experience: the view.

Kaitlyn D.

Yelp
I've always had a fear regarding sushi after learning that people can get certain infections from raw seafood in sushi. There are only 2 places in Charlotte that I have consumed sushi from: Mizu and O-Ku. I 10/10 recommend this place. Great food and Beautiful rooftop bar

Keshante A.

Yelp
Positive- The rooftop view is unmatched! It basically made up for all the hiccups. We made it in to see the sunset. The decor was beautiful, the vibes and ambiance were great! Also it's in a very nice part of town. Critical- Oh boy. We somehow got in right after a group of 30 and the bar was completely slammed. Our drinks didn't come until after we were finished eating, maybe 45 min later, and this was the case for all the table around us. They did comp them which was nice. As for the food, nothing special. We had the shrimp, fish sliders, wings, and my friend had the raw oysters which he liked. And everything was on the pricier side. The service was eh, our server wasn't around much at all and it was hard to find her when it was time to lay the check, but she was nice.

Yunhea K.

Yelp
My second time visiting this hotel and restaurant and it was so good! I already had dinner so I just came here because I had a sweet tooth. Last time I came they had a really good ginger snap crème brûlée so I knew they would have good desserts. We sat at the bar since we weren't planning on having a big meal and the bartender was so awesome (wish I would have caught good name). He made me prob the best lemon drop martini I've ever had and my hub had a French connection and he too, said it was the best he's had and this same bartender is the reason he keeps coming back to this hotel. I can second that! I ordered the chocolate tahini cake but it was close between that and the matcha dome cuz I love love matcha. But the ginger cake scared me cuz it can either be good or really bad. But y'all this tahini cake was one of the best desserts I have ever had. The cake itself was sweet and decadent, perfect amount of chocolate for a chocolate lover like me. The white chocolate sesame crumble was surprisingly not sweet but it added the perfect texture and balanced out the sweetness of the cake and the black sesame ice cream just tied it all together. It was amazing. Please go try it because I'm not sure how long until they change their menu again. Hubby had a lobster tail and he said it was delicious. They chop it up so it's easier to eat and it was very flavorful. We loved our returning experience here especially with the sweet staff and clean and elegant establishment. I wouldn't mind being a returning customer every time I visit charlotte especially if their menu changes every time. It'll be nice to review different items! Definitely a 10/10 experience

Tristan P.

Yelp
Great spot for an after dinner drink! Service was timely and sweet! Great vibes for any time you want to show off the upscale vibes of the city a little bit. We had a great time and will definitely be back.

Linda B.

Yelp
Mizu is our go to for great food and service. Its our anniversary and Vitres, Savannah and everyone made us feel special. We had the best service and food hands down. Highly recommend.

Byron D.

Yelp
Ok I given this place 3 chances now... I really wish this place was good because is on a great location with cool vibe.. but honestly one of the worst restaurants... specially for price tag...the food just falls massively short from expectations. Every time each dish that we order and we order a lot of dishes is at best ok... with the majority of time just being not great. Was hoping the new chef would make this place improve but still the same unfortunately

Veronica C.

Yelp
Food: fantastic. Here is what I had not pictured: Wagyu beef, chicken Yaka tori. It was hard to take photos bc the food was truly good. Service was great, sadly it look a little while towards the end as our server got very busy. Ambiance: great, sat outside. The sunset looked beautiful. Drinks: legendary ol'fashion and the matcha margarita.

Jackie L.

Yelp
I loved Mizu! One of the best spots in town with a great view of the city and a patio to die for. Our service was also fantastic. All around a great place to dine. Parking is easy, there is valet or a free deck to park in. The restaurant is on the 9th floor of the hotel so you just take the elevator all the way up. They also have a room for large parties/events. As for the food - the cali love sushi role and seaweed salad was amazing. The cauliflowet is also fantastic. Not pictured is the shrimp toast - I had a taste of my friends and that was also amazing. Our waitress was great and very accommodating. Overall I had a fantastic experience and I can't wait to go back!

Christina H.

Yelp
Great place for delicious sushi and drinks! The rooftop is also beautiful as well. The dishes are a little on the pricey side but worth it!

Samantha L.

Yelp
My friend and I came here on a Saturday evening. We made reservations in advance (which you can easily do online). I really liked the location and the rooftop patio seems like it would be fun in the warmer months. For food, we opted to try a variety of items. We started off with the Tempura Cauliflower appetizer which was AMAZING. If we weren't tempted to try other items on the menu, we may have ordered a second one. Then we tried the Cali Love Roll. I was so intrigued by a sushi roll having Brie cheese in it. The flavors came together perfectly. Next up was the Spicy Gyu Buns. I didn't like these as much because they had a sweet flavor to them (in addition to the spice). My friend enjoyed them though. After that came the Firecracker Shrimp and the Negi Maki (steak). I was a fan of the shrimp! We then ordered the drunken pineapple to curve our sweet tooth. We felt like the seasonings were too much and it didn't hit the spot. So, of course we had to order dessert. We couldn't agree on which one to get so I opted for the cheesecake and she went with the ginger crème brûlée. I'm not a fan of ginger, but the cheesecake was perfect!

Takoya L.

Yelp
Nice rooftop view in South Park. The cocktails were refreshing and light. Good for after work drinks on a weekday. Will return.

Carlo Y.

Yelp
A great place for a date night, but yet I was disappointed with some of the dishes!! First of all the restaurant is in a great location at Southpark, it is on the 9th Floor of the Hyatt Centric hotel, the moment that you arrived the environment is so nice and felt so relax. The windows that has a view looking over the city it is really awesome. The staff was excellent, everyone is super nice and has great personality, by far some of the best service I seen in a while. The host explained what the restaurant is about when we are walking to our table. The waitress, she was on point with everything and had recommended us some dishes on the menu. Well we ordered five dishes and dessert. Tuna crisp was delicious, the crisp sesame cracker with fresh tuna, it is on point, it only comes with five pieces, to be honest I can eat like 20 of those. Then the waitress brought out some Hamachi Tartare for us to try, it was like a mini taco with fresh fish, the favor just exploded in my month. Then we got got our Ironman Maki, it was the best dish of the night with beef on top of the roll, crunchy garlic with rice, and the tuna, it was a prefect balance. Then comes the cauliflower, it was good however I think it was too much sauce on it. The disappointment comes when the Octopus and Negi Maki arrives. Negi Maki was a little to salty, it has too much sauce and it was a little over cooked. Then the octopus was under cooked, I like octopus has more texture, but this is too soft for my taste. The last two dish were really disappointing. Lastly the dessert Hojicha Cheesecake was great way to end the dinner, it is not too sweet with salted caramel and chocolate. Overall great experience just two main dishes didn't tasted as good. I will give it another try again.

Yelp
The best rooftop venue and customer service in Southpark! Was pleasantly surprised with the variety on the menu! Sushi was fantastic but the best was our server Kim and the personal touch for my son's birthday! Wow!

Yelp
Sushi and edamame were really good. We had a friend with shellfish allergy and they were super limited in what they could do compared to O-Ku. That part was disappointing.

Yelp
We were greeted by complimentary valet. Then we were greeted immediately by our hostess who was very attentive. I had a Hennessy side car which was made to perfection. I also tried the Saikyo Salmon which was heavenly! The sauce was very spicy but I love spicy! It paired well with the Salmon which was not over seasoned. The crispy fried potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the Inside. This went well with the salmon sauce. The mushrooms didn't have much flavor but were still good. Lastly, the Brussels sprouts were cooked Al dente with good flavor. I love that they still felt healthy and not greasy like most restaurants. The ambiance was very beautiful and relaxing. Perfect view from most tables.

Yelp
This is a hard review to write, because I don't like writing negative reviews. But far too many things went wrong in one visit not to, and for an expensive place, be forewarned. It's a long story but my husband and I are living apart for the last few months and this was our one night out during a two week stay when I visited him while recovering from surgery. I had a pretty big list of restaurants to choose from and chose Mizu based on previous positive reviews, the menu, and the rooftop option. It had rained ALL week and this was the first nice night so we jumped at the chance to sit outside. First, valet couldn't park a manual, but didn't say anything until we were well seated and had ordered drinks and were ordering appetizers. We had to rush through the rest of our order so he could move his car. When my husband went down to move his own car, he found that they had tried to start it but couldn't even figure that out (he left it running so they stalled it trying to drive it - I don't even wanna know how that went). When the server first came to the table, she asked if we had been there before to which we replied, no. At that point, we were told it was a tapas style restaurant, and she described the most popular dishes on the menu. She seemed to really know the menu well so I felt that we were in good hands. But what also seemed odd is that there are some big plates on the menu, which you can actually eat as an entrée which we did. So I'm not sure if they just prefer to sell a bunch of expensive appetizers or what. Also, when I ordered my drink, I told the waitress to pick a rosé for me, to which she asked flat or sparkling. I chose flat, but sparkling arrived, I didn't say anything, just drank it. Appetizers arrived, they were great, we got the tuna crisp and the lemon drop, both were excellent, so we thought we were off to a good start and just had a few bumps. In between appetizers and the entrees they brought over a few 'gifts from the chef' I believe they called it, edamame and grilled pineapple. These were beautiful and thoughtful touches but unfortunately the rest of our experience was so poor this barely makes up for it. Then my husband's entrée arrives, or what we think is my husband's entrée because he ordered the cod and they called it something else. I don't even remember what he got but the runner simply said they were out of the cod, so this was the replacement, we were never told they were out of cod. I sat there waiting for my salmon to arrive for a good 10 minutes before it came. My husband and I do not eat separately so he waited and his food got completely cold, waiting for mine. When my food did arrive, it was so spicy I could not even eat it, there is no indication of that on the menu or else I would not have ordered it, I do not eat spicy food. My husband and I had to switch, leaving me with a dish with a mushroom taste, and I don't like mushrooms. He was even sweating at the amount of spice. We didn't get to say anything to the waitress because she never came to check on our food. We also didn't get to order another glass of wine which we would've liked with our dinner. Oh, and there was a hair in the rice on the salmon dish, we just pulled it out and kept eating. As you can see we are not complainers. Before I even got my salmon, the waitress came and dropped off the dessert menu, which I thought was so weird. I didn't even get my entrée yet, where is my food?! We glanced at it and saw some unique options so we ended up getting the coconut dome, that ended up being the best part of the meal, it was delicious. We got the check and couldn't wait to get out of there, but then that's all we did, wait, and wait, and wait. We finally got up to go inside to pay. My husband then asked to discuss our night with the manager, he has supervised at five star hotels and just likes to brings things like this to their attention, all he got was a bunch of apologies. I just hope they do better.

Yelp
We love Mizu -- every experience is new yet so consistent. Every meal is unique and each dish is so fresh and flavorful. Tonight was no exception. Tonight we came for our one year anniversary - the ambience was romantic and upbeat (and so moody in the best way). We came and we ATE. We are our familiars and some new ones as well -- we loved every bite. Also tonight's playlist was a bop -- we had a great time. Service was wonderful as well Tonight we had-- Edamame (my fav) Firecracker Shrimp Chicken Katsu Sliders Maguro Heat Saikyo Salmon

Yelp
Came here for my birthday dinner and it was everything we could've asked for! The food was good, but it's really atmosphere that really make this place special. Our server, Alida, was so kind and immediately helped to make our dinner special. The firecracker shrimp is your typical bang bang shrimp and was well made. The brussel sprouts were the perfect crispy with great flavor. The tuna tataki was good but I kind of wish they used a different cracker. Not sure how to describe it but still good. The seared bass was delicious!! I'm pretty picky with overcooked fish and this was made perfectly. The grilled oysters could've done without the spicy mayo which just doesn't pair well with the rest of the seasoning so we just scooped it off. We finished off our meal with a nice birthday dessert! The creme brûlée was good but I think I'd prefer a regular crème brûlée over the flavor they had. The food is a bit overpriced but you're paying for the environment and elegance of it so it's still worth it if you're celebrating something special. Overall, recommend!

Yelp
Mizu topped my expectations and I couldn't be happier. The ambiance was great. It was at the top of the Hyatt with great views of south park. The indoor & outdoor areas had a lot of seating with a ton of good vibes. The cocktails we're well worth the price. They were dangerously good. I went to Mizu for a friends birthday and they were extremely accommodating. Our server was 10/10 with going above & beyond to make it a special evening. Mizu is known for their tapas for good reason. They were all delicious. If I had to pick my top three I'd say the firecracker shrimp, prawn cocktail, & Octopus. The Salmon sliders we're so good, but beware they're filling. I'll see you in the near future Mizu. Great date night spot.

Yelp
Modern Japanese-themed with a view -- up top the Hyatt hotel, this is a well appointed space that's best described as upmarket, buzzy, and flashy... definitely the main draw for those into places that make a splash with atmosphere. Their bar is spacious and equally impressive on the eyes. Taken as a whole, this is the type of restaurant that's probably best to impress a first date, business meeting, special occasion (that requires flare), or simply convenient for those staying in house at the hotel beneath... In terms of the menu, the composed dishes are interesting but unmemorable except for being heavy on salt, but presented with showmanship. In particular, seeing as its niche is Japanese, the sushi was surprisingly below average, overthought and under-executed. The rice used for the rolls was noticeably past its prime, overly compacted (caked on?), and disproportionately heavy. Still worth noting that service was very good from start to finish.

Yelp
The BEST food and service. Me and my husband are very picky individuals and this place probably tops all of our fine dining experience. We love the atmosphere and the view of the sun going down. Our server was Chrissy and she honestly makes the best recommendations because all of the food and drinks that she recommended were amazing. The BRUSSELS sprout is to die for. The tomahawk steak was cooked to perfection.

Yelp
Service was subpar. Waitress was not very professional and sat at table for 10 minutes before being acknowledged. Food very average. Very overhyped. Best part was the nigiri and katsu sliders.

Yelp
Great sushi. Some of the best I've ever had. Ginger beer is made in house and is delicious. Great vibe and ambiance.

Yelp
Mizu is located on the 9th floor at the Hyatt Hotel in South Park. The restaurant was very nice but overlooked a parking lot. They do have patio seating but was closed due to the rain. Order: edamame, hamachi tartare, spicy gyu buns, octopus, and ginger crème brûlée Edamame was served with sea salt and a fried onion oil. Haven't had bad edamame before and this wasn't any different. Hamachi tartare was served on a tortilla chip. Since my experience with Mari in NYC, I'm more adventurous with rare fish. The tartare was prepared very well, couldn't tell it was fish or uncooked. No smell and no weird texture. Spicy gyu buns were ground beef served on a bao bun. When I think of "banh bao" (the Vietnamese version of "bao") I think of a seasoned pork, egg, sausage, and mushroom center with a sweet dough. I've had different meat served with bao before such as duck, bbq pork, pork belly and chicken, and they all shared a similar taste profile. I would describe the spicy gyu buns as taco meat served on a bao bun. "Mexican meets Asian" did not pair well. For lack of the proper terminology, the spice were not Asian spices that I could taste. And lastly the octopus; presentation was nice but the meat had a weird texture. Not what is usually expected of octopus. It was gritty; could have been old, overcooked or soaked too long in marinade. The side salad was dressed with what tasted like balsamic. Not sure if balsamic is a common thing in Japanese cuisine but I wasn't expecting it as a dressing. Our server was very nice and appreciated feedback as the restaurant changes their menu quarterly. So after giving her this same review, she offered us a complimentary dessert. I chose the cream brûlée, which was ginger flavored and served with a cinnamon cookie. It was different from what I'm used too but it was good nonetheless. I will return to try new items they add to the menu. Happy eating Yelpers.

Yelp
Mizu an upscale restaurant in South Park Charlotte has an immaculately beautiful interior. Found on the ninth floor of the hotel building it has surrounding windows giving you unobscured views of the city below. When I went it was raining and really added to the vibe of the restaurant. In contrast to the decor and vibe I thought the food was good but not remarkable. The grilled octopus was cooked very well done and was tough when I expected it to be a bit more chewy. The flavor was good but maybe could've used some more seasoning. (3/5) the salmon I thought was cooked well and was decent (3.5/5). The shrimp and grits were a definite highlight, the grits were creamy and the shrimp had tons of flavor, this I would recommend (4.5/5) . Disappointedly I did not enjoy the shrimp toast very much, I thought it was lacking for what it was (2/5). Finally I found the service immaculate, huge shoutout to our server Rob, who made the entire experience amazing and felt very friendly. He was an excellent server who was very attentive and helpful. Overall nice place, definitely a bit pricer but a good date night spot for all the above mentioned reasons. I would also recommend the matcha tequila drink, I thought it was done nicely

Yelp
Mizu located in South Park is finally off my list of restaurants i wanted to try out. I invited the girls out on a Friday night. The ambiance was nice but I was shocked to see when we walked in the score was low rated at 91. Once seated I started with the lychee martini and it was actually to my liking. We ordered a variety of different appetizers and entrees. I will say my favorites was the BBQ Cauliflower Hamachi, Bao Buns, Sea Bass, Shrimp and Grits and last the infused pineapples. The service wasn't the best although our waiter did his best to make sure we're satisfied. We didn't receive all of our orders from some reason so the manager offered dessert for free. So while doing my research after leaving to why the score was so low. I'm appalled and dismayed. I have to be more careful of viewing the fancy ambiance verses is this establishment really clean and are the meals really being stored properly to prevent food poisoning.
