"High atop the Hyatt Centric in Charlotte’s SouthPark neighborhood, I visited the forthcoming Japanese restaurant Mizu, which is ready to open any day now. Coming from Indigo Road Hospitality (the group behind O-ku, Indaco, and Oak Steakhouse), it will focus on wood-fired seafood with a robatayaki—the traditional izakaya grill—serving as the main inspiration for the menu, used to create dishes ranging from mushrooms to Yellowtail cheeks and lobster, according to chef Michael Chanthavong, and the menu will blend Japanese flavors with Southern produce and products. The dining room pairs midcentury-modern design with upscale izakaya touches and offers sweeping views of the Charlotte skyline, a large terrace for rooftop dining and drinking, a chef’s table, and lounging areas; a tour was available before the imminent opening on Thursday, August 12." - Erin Perkins
