"This Hong Kong take on the speakeasy is on the fourth floor of the Kiu Yin Commercial Building. Designed to be reminiscent of a library, the vibe here is upscale gentleman's club, sans the buzz that pervades much of Hong Kong's club scene. It's the kind of place you go for a serious cocktail (the whiskey selection is legit) and quiet conversation."

20 Best Bars in Hong Kong

"The sophisticated vibes at this Ginza-style whiskey bar are trumped only by lead bartender Masahiko Endo's white dinner jacket and bow tie. Whether you choose one of his signatures, a nip of whisky, or a custom creation, he'll ensure you love what you're drinking." - Kate Springer

Loved this bar! It has a subtle entrance in an old building but once you enter the space, it transformed the atmosphere into a very nice and polished bar. First time I visited with my boyfriend, we didnt make a reservation but were able to get seats at the bar. It gets busy very quickly into the night. If you want to secure a space I highly you call them first. We went back with our friends the same week and called in to book. They were relatively busy but we were able to get a table for a while. The drinks were wonderful. Many choices of liquor and their cocktails were very tasty. The bartenders are friendly if you want to make conversation. Love how beautiful and elegant the space is, will definitely be back once I’m back in Hong Kong.

If you are a whisky enthusiast you might be interested in trying their private bottlings. I had the Mars Komagatake heavily peated and it was good. Highly recommend trying their seasonal cocktails as well because they use high quality fresh fruits from Japan. Look at that cute dekopon and pomelo from Kumamoto! I loved the strawberry sake cocktail with the Panna cotta below it's the perfect dessert. Service is good, Japanese cocktail bar style. I ordered the Foccacia too and it was so crispy and delicious!

A truly hidden gem in Wan Chai. To find this bar, you first enter the Kui Yin Building and head to the 4th floor. But once inside, the atmosphere is something special—cozy and modern, with a beautifully designed bar and a serene zen garden featuring a black pond on the balcony, making the space feel extra private and absolutely stunning, beyond my expectations. You can also sit and smoke outside. The drinks are crafted with the finest ingredients, staying true to an original Japanese style. You can also customize your drink, and the bartender understands your preferences perfectly. A must-visit for those looking for a hidden, high-quality bar experience. I recommend going a bit later at night, as the bar stays open until around 2:00 AM—later than most bars in Hong Kong.

What an experience. The Japanese style of making cocktails is incredibly beautiful to watch. We had such great drinks and a lovely Conversation with the Master Massimo Himself. It’s worth going! You should not miss this place. Also a lot of Locals recommend us before that it’s there Favorit Bar. Lucky that we made it there!

My best recommendation Whisky and cocktail bar in HK, I celebrate my birthday here with 25 years old vintage whiskey flight. The cocktail is excellent as well. Latest tha bar offers more bar bite options, which gonna hold me stay at the bar for longer.

Yelp
Disappointed with the experience. My friend and I have been to 30+ world best bars and 20+ in Asia but have never witnessed a mixologist treating their coworkers like Massimo. He was very condescending to them and told one staff he needs to learn how to shake better. I'm sure his intentions are good but it just came across rude where we felt very uncomfortable seeing him treat his coworkers. The drinks were solid with a wild selection of Japanese whiskey, swanky decor and patio for smoking. We tried the sandwich which was good too. However, I would not return and won't recommend it to anyone. There are tons of bars in HK that I would recommend such Argo, Darkside and Penicillin. I would not want to support a venue that lacks respect to their coworkers regardless how great the drinks are.

Yelp
One of our friends from Hong Kong recommended this bar saying they have some of the best cocktails in the city. It is a little hard to find, as it is inside of an old building in Wan Chai, but once you find the entrance to the bar and open the door, you will be surprised to find a small bar that is very much like the classic cocktail and whisky bars in Tokyo's Ginza district. Much like the bars in Tokyo, the service here is authentically Japanese. The Japanese head bartender was very knowledgeable and friendly. We each had two cocktails and I enjoyed both of my fruit cocktails. This bar also has a nice garden out on the deck. We didn't go out there because it was raining pretty hard when we went, but we would love to go out there the next time we visit the city.

Yelp
5 stars for the ambiance and abundance of whisky from all over the world. Definitely a bit on the pricey side. Staff was knowledgeable about the whisky they have and nailed the recommendations. I was impressed by the accuracy of the bartenders making the drinks without measuring jiggers - just eyeballing it. Too bad drinks aren't allowed in the garden, but if you're a smoker, it must be nice to hang out and smoke.

Yelp
If you are into fine whisky and cocktails and have some dollars to spend, Mizunara the library is highly recommended. This is a sophisticated Japanese run bar with leather armchairs and a private Japanese garden. Mizunara has a quality whisky selection including some select cask produced especially for the bar. We tried the trifecta of Mizunara the library cask whisky, the Mars heavily peated Komagtake single cask 60% was an excellent dram full of flavour yet super smooth for a whisky with such a high ABV. Mizunara also has a list of specialty Championship cocktails, many of which have been award winners at national and international cocktail competitions. The "Spring Harmony" which won the World Championship Cocktail competition at the all world Open Cup of 2015 was super impressive. Made using Hi gn flavours of tea, cherry brandy, elderflower and lemon. Quite possibly the best cocktail I've ever had and we understand why this won the competition! At $230 HKD (almost $50 Aussie dollars, it would want to be good. The only reason It doesn't get a 5 is that it is too expensive

Yelp
A hidden gem in the cwb area that opens till 3am. Was surprised to find a bar in a commercial building and the decor is very classy with an Japanese garden outdoor patio. Our group had about 8 cocktails total and they were all very delicious and beautifully presented. A number of their cocktails are award wining and they have a wide selection of both Japanese and western whiskies. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet place to have a drink where you don't need to compete with the crowd in LKF.

Yelp
Nice ambiance but pricey cocktails. We did not like so much what we ordered, maybe wrong choices. The bar is fully japanese managed from bar tender to waiters which usually a good indicator of quality. However out of 4 cocktails none impressed us at all. Quite strong in alcohol with no real finesse. Nice little japanese garden to smoke...but despite its a private balcony, it is not allowed to bring the drinks (otherwise I would have probably put one more star).
