First time but won’t be my last!! This Mexican restaurant has more flavors than any other in BR! Can’t wait to go back! Birria Fries- wow! Gabriel was a great server!

Name might be Mexican but the food is NOT ordered the aguachile expecting a plate lemon serrano flavored brined shrimp and received an olive oil sweet flavored brined shrimp it was not what I was expecting also had the carnitas escaveche and very disappointed i was expecting a jalapeño vinegary spicy escaveche what i received was again a sweet soy sauce flavored pickled carrots this is not mexican food

Dylan was fast and attentive. Order was put in accurately (picky eater so lots of modifications) and food was great! First time here. Will be back.

Great little eclectic Tex Mex vibe. The menu is short but the taco selections are spot on. It’s oysters season, so tried the fried oyster torta! They also had brunch (Sunday) with really great options. A little pricey, but that goes with the ambiance and vibe. Definitely will be back to try more. Highly recommend giving it a try if in the College town area. ❤️

All 2024& when I say ALL 2024 me and my friends came here to Participate in their happy hour. Margaritas 10/10 I couldn’t even tell you how the food tastes because all we literally did was drink. My last visit rubbed me the wrong way though because when did they start adding automatic gratuity? But if you want a Good Margarita Modesto is the way to go.

We had a party of 30 people. They allowed us to come in and put decorations up. We had buffet style supper, and the staff (Steven and Julie) was amazing and so kind.

Always a great experience when I come here! The brisket birria taco is my personal favorite. They have great queso and an awesome margarita menu. Staff is always helpful and kind. One of my favorite restaurants in Baton Rouge.

Best Mexican food we have ever had, ever! Highly recommend! We did the steak and shrimp fajitas for two and the steak was absolutely perfect, melt in your mouth, not overcooked, perfect! The salsa, don't even get me started! We live all the way on the other side of the US and believe me when I say I'm sad I won't likely ever get to taste it again! (I'm a bit of a salsa fanatic!) Everything was amazing from the tortillas to the rice to the steak and shrimp and of course the salsa! The service was also wonderful and friendly!

I've delayed going here just because I simply did. Well I finally caved after we were trying to find a place near the river center for dinner. I walked in to no wait which was great. It's a little dark in here but that's the ambiance they are going for. I really like the bar setup. Off to the food, we ordered the queso, brisket enchiladas, and steak fajitas. Not gonna lie. Everything was pretty tasty. The steak was seasoned and marinated. The brisket in my hubs enchilada was cooked very tender. I also got a blood orange colada and that was ok. I would return if needing something near downtown.

I cam here with coworkers on a Friday at lunchtime. We were seated quickly, and the waitress was super attentive. The chips are so good, and the salsa has just the right amount of spice. Such a great combo. I ordered the lunch special- Dos tacos, which comes with a side. I got the fried avocado taco and portbello taco, both on corn tortilllas, with a side of black beans. I also ordered a side of rice. The portobello taco was my absolute favorite. So much flavor and the green sauce was bomb. The avocado taco was fine, I just wasn't a fan of the texture. The rice and beans were also top notch. As a vegetarian, it's so hard to find beans I'm able to eat at a mexican restaurant. These were so good. Overall, I had a great time. The service was fast and the food was amazing. I will definitely be back to try something else (maybe the veggie fajitas or one of the salads).

The space is very eclectic. Nice ambiance for friends to meet for a bite and come cocktails or a first date. It does have a sports bar feel too and the patio seems nice when it's not too hot. The salsa and chips are super delicious. The chips are coated almost like Doritos. I had a drink - the blood orange colada. It was ok. Had 4 tacos- I enjoy and would order again the carna asada and al pastor on corn tortillas. I had the cabo (grilled ) shrimp and pork belly escabeche - I did not enjoy. Shrimp were blah.. no seasoning. Pork belly was too fatty. The black beans were delicious and prepared differently. I would return but try something different. Price point is decent for a Mexican joint near LSU. Service was good. My waiter please other wait staff were very attentive. Try it out and let me know what you think.

I finding new Mexican restaurants to love. This place has amazing tacos. The chips and salsa were a bit lacking but the food made up for it. I got the Al Pastor and Shrimp tacos and WOW tasted so good. My friends enjoyed their orders too. We definitely have a new favorite spot that we all can agree on. The service and the vibes of this place were impeccable especially considering we went on cinco de mayo. The service was fast and very efficient. Definitely give this place a try if you haven't before.

Food 10/10. Drinks awesome! I think they also have the best table chips I ever had! Tacos omg to die for. Sometimes they have the birria fries as a special you should try! Also I know salad isn't what you think of when you go to a Mexican restaurant but omg that Caesar salad is probably the best I've EVER had. Service is typically pretty good. If you have a large party you should absolutely make a reservation bc it's sometimes hard to get a seat. And the patio is really nice! Try the lunch menu if you're on a budget! Whole lotta bang for your buck

Modesto - Baton Rouge Lunch: Brisket Birria , Al Pastor , Baja Fish --all solid. Plus, that creamy queso . Brunch: Birria Fries , Chilaquiles w/ Brisket Birria, Pastry War , Bloody Mary , Jalapeño Marg , Champagne with a frozen orange ball --a little boujee, a lot of fun. Also, don't sleep on their Tortilla Soup and the Bacon, Egg & Cheese Breakfast Taco --because sometimes, you just need the classics. Mangonado on the Rocks: Chamoy & Tajín inside the drink, but let's be real--a Mexican spot that does a full chamoy & Tajín rim WINS in my book. That said, Modesto is still a close favorite--because when the food is this good, I can let it slide... for now.

This place has excellent tacos. Had an issue and management corrected it. I'll be back soon.

I loved my service and food I dined at the bar and had the bartender/ server Silva . She was a great server and made sure our lunch went smooth and understood the menu. She even let us taste some of the frozen drinks ! Modesto is cute and chic and has a Spanish American flair to the decor . Would dine here again

You have to try this restaurant! The steak tacos are the best by far of anyone I've ever had anywhere. If you get the steak on the salad, ask them for the same steak meat preparation they use for the tacos as it is slightly different normally and you want the one that they use on the tacos!

Being from Baton Rouge but now a resident of San Diego, CA. I think the flavors and textures were not consistent with authentic Mexican American cuisine. The location seems as if it has potential to be great. Near LSU's campus therefore, steady traffic is not a problem. I got an opportunity to watch soccer... Service was nice and knowledgeable....

Absolutely awful service! The one waitress I think was named 'Adalyn' was extremely rude and disrespectful, if I'm not mistaken as she walked away from my table she mutter under her breath, "of course it's one those n*ggers". I find that utterly disgusting and distasteful. Racism in this day and age is unacceptable. Do better.

Some of the best Mexican food and margaritas in Baton Rouge/St. George. Great, well-trained staff. Happy Hour prices are spot-on.

The tacos where good I had a steak a lil chewy but flavor and shrimp it was tasty rice on point beans standard berry Rita best thing I'll go back during the crossover of lunch and happy hour great deal if you dine between the hours of 2pm-6pm

The service was amazing. This was our first visit and our waiter was extremely attentive. I thought the food was okay, but I guess I didn't order correctly because everyone else enjoyed their food. It's a nice spot, with nice decor and we'd return again.

Ambiance is beautiful and colorful. Service was always great. Waiters are patient and kind. Food is always a 10/10. I go here on the regular.

The taco varieties are a highlight, especially the portobello mushroom taco, which I order almost every time. The empanadas are a definite must-try, packed with flavor. The place has a steady flow of patrons, including college types drawn by the approachable price point and trendy vibe. It's not just the food--fresh and well-executed--but the lively atmosphere that keeps it a go-to spot for me and my crew, offering a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.

My friend and I got tacos on Cinco de Mayo. They were pretty good! I enjoyed the food. It wasn't extraordinary but if you're looking for a relaxing spot to eat and maybe get a margarita, this is a good spot. The service was fine! The we were seated fairly quickly (we sat at the bar since there was a 30 minute wait). There was a slight mistake with my order but it was minor (the wrong type of taco shell). I liked that the food seemed authentic. The music and ambiance is what you'd expect for a place like this. Clean, simple, etc. There was a patio but we didn't get to sit out there.

There was a table for six, which was open when we arrived, but they refused that table to us saying it wasn't enough seating. That table remained empty the whole time. We watched as two families with older children came in, ordered, ate and left when the corner table that we were waiting for was emptied. Just then two couples came in and the manager gave the corner table to that party of four right away. We saw as the hostesses speak to the manager letting him know that we had been waiting over 40mins for that table. Both hostesses looks disgruntled as they set the same empty table for six that we watched the entire wait time with another chair. I stopped them immediately to say that we were told to wait for the corner table, but both hostesses explained that the manager made the change last minute. Which he in turn lied to us saying that the reservation was made five days ago. We tried to leave but the manager came out offering to comp us a free appetizer which we declined. Pretty confident he was slid some cash to bump those couples up to our seat as I overheard one of the men say, "the best he can do is that corner table". We decided to leave and eat elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend eating here with children, because it felt awfully like we were being discriminated against!

The best steak fajitas. Great service and atmosphere. We amaze vet the fajitas for 2 and it's delicious.

Love this place! Taco tuesdays are great and we are a big fan of the dip trio for $10 on tuesdays. Love their chicken and asada tacos

I came to Modesto for my birthday on July 5th and a guy i believe named Greg served us. His energy and attentiveness was immaculate. Very quick service and food was very tasty!! We thought about going to the new Mexican restaurant down the road but I'm way more impressed with Modestos quality of service and food. Oh and they gave me a complimentary bread pudding! Delicious!! Thanks for a great birthday dinner. Will be back :)

The BF wished they had burritos but the chimchurri steak he got hit the spot. Loved the barria fries. Good experience...would go back.

I rate my experience with to go orders based on these conditions: presentation, taste/quality, and if i received everything I ordered. I've visited this establishment twice and both times were to go. I've had the fajitas, tacos and salad. The steak fajitas were soo good ya'll! And the Cilantro rice is very good. Each time I've ordered, they did not forget ONE thing in my order. I got my Guac, salsa, sauces, and the chips. BTW they season the chips and they are crispy and wonderful right out the bag. You can thank me later! Give this place a try!

Loveeee the Carne Asado and Fried Avocado Tacos. The new dining room they built in the back is so cute! Addy is my favorite server. I ask for her every single time i go!!

I will start by saying the tacos are good, so i mean, that is the main reason for going, right? I had the tinga and the grilled baja fish, both on corn tortillas. Both were good and full of meat and veggies. The prices were good for those, and I think we must have gone when a special was run, so they were a little less than usual. I plan to go back and try additional items when we have more time. Our server was really friendly. I would caution him that some people may thing addressing women as "lady" could be taken as offensive if someone did not realize that his first language was not English. We knew and had no issue, i just know how some people are. He did a great job though. I was not too impressed with the facility itself. Maybe it's the time of day we went, but the restrooms were unacceptable - it smelled like wet dog and trash was everywhere. I would have hated to have even seen a staff member in there because there's no way washing your hands in there would have gotten them clean. The floors throughout the restaurant were really slippery and felt almost greasy too. At my table, it just felt like i was moving my feet in kitchen grease. I do look forward to returning to try something else, or maybe I'll get some take out.

10/10! Slept on this place for far too long, and now I'm there once a week. Hands down best margaritas in town, and I've yet to eat anything that wasn't fantastic. Special love to the watermelon and shrimp ceviche. Has no business being as good as it is. Super clean inside. Service is always so friendly.

The place was packed, but we went on the 4th of July. The food was good and the service was still fast. We order the fajitas for 2 and the portion was small, seemed for for 1 but it was good.

I've left a review before but just came back to reiterate that you CANNOT GO WRONG with Modesto. The food is delicious and worth it every time. Their margaritas are also my favorite thing so definitely get those!

Modesto has great cocktails and margaritas! Their queso was really good and so were the chips! The food was prepared well but not much flavor in my steak or the brisket enchiladas. Bread pudding was just ok as well. Really great bartender and service was excellent.

I think that it is a great place to have a date because the decor and aura is very nice! However I will say I was a bit disappointed with the tacos because I felt that they weren't that flavorful especially because the price is a bit high. The staff was friendly and I also liked how they have alot of chips!

I came here with a group of 10 while in Baton Rouge for a basketball tournament at LSU. It is conveniently placed about a mile from LSU, which is why we chose it. Our server was helpful and energetic even though we were a large group. I got the cheese quesadillas with a side of elotes. The cheese quesadilla was nothing special, but I wanted something more classic. It came with guac, which tasted fresh and was the perfect texture. Their elotes was to die for. The corn was perfectly sweet, warm, and coated with Mexican cheese and seasoning. Some people at my table were a little disappointed with their food, either because of price, serving size, or taste, but I was not. However, I was disappointed with their form of payment. When it came time to pay, we didn't get actual bills to fill out and sign with our cards. The server had to walk around and have us pay on a portable checkout reader. This made payment awkward and feel rushed. With a group of ten, gratuity was included into our bills. This was completely fine, but this was not clearly stated when paying on the mobile reader. Because of this, our entire group tipped about 20% on a bill that already had a 20% tip added onto it! Lastly, the reader was not clear on tip amount, which caused me to type in my total cost with the tip added on, rather than just the tip itself. I was the first person to pay at the table, but multiple people almost made the same mistake. Even though we got it situated, it was a frustrating experience. It was also frustrating that it was not clear that gratuity was included in our final bill. Nearly all of us tipped double the appropriate amount. Overall, great experience until payment. If taking in the experience of my entire group, I would give them 3 stars. However, the only issue I had was with the payment process, which is why I think 4 stars is appropriate.

I am always weary when eating out in a different city, especially Mexican cuisine. I was so pleasantly surprised! The staff, including our server Steven was kind, professional efficient. Chips were amazing and plentiful. We ordered the trio salsas and especially enjoyed the black bean one that was perfectly spicy. The tacos were made with fresh tortillas and very fresh. I had basic cheese enchiladas and was so happy when not just the plate was hot but the enchiladas were hot and the tortillas were substantial and not watery. The place is spotless and the music was not loud so we were about to enjoy conversation. One last thing...the selection of tequila is outstanding. I am so excited that this place will become a regular go to when near LSU.

The food was unique but delicious and fresh. Even my white husband liked it. The vibe was very cutesy and photo-worthy. Service was nice and easy.

FINALLY!!!! A place that offers less Tex more Mex Mexican food lovers this is the place that gives you that real authentic flavor of Latin food- You have got to start with the queso it's blended with pico and it's addicting!!!! If you are looking for something refreshing and light order the campechana I promise you will love it . The tacos are amazing as well and they give you a choice to get it on corn or flour tortillas (as a Latina corn is better) and don't forget to get the full experience squeeze that line on your taco trust me it brings all the flavors together- oh and not pictured is the michelada that I order with a dos X - you have to try it it's really good

Been wanting to try this restaurant and I think it's spot on. The ambiance definitely has the Hispanic culture and Mexican music with a modern twist. The service was very friendly and super quick. The food was extremely good and very good portions. Great food and will be coming back to try other items on menu

A warm greeting at the door every time we have been! The hostess team offers exceptional hospitality and flexed to make us comfortable! There is Mexican food and there is MODESTOES!! The chips are the best in any Mexican restaurant in Baton Rouge! The "extra seasoning" that is added sets them apart! You can't stop eating them once you start! The guacamole is served with jicama; a nice compliment! I have not had one "chefs taco" that I have not enjoyed! Happy Hour? How bout a 2-6pm happy hour??!!! These people know how to do it right!!

I love love loveee Modesto! However, I went here for a Taco Tuesday recently, and it just wasn't a five-star experience like usual. I had a reservation for 8:15pm and my party did not get seated until 9:00pm. By this point, we were starving, but our waitress just seemed super stressed and busy--we didn't end up getting our order until 10:00pm while the restaurant was closing. We also had to wait awhile for drink refills and our checks. It was Taco Tuesday so I was expecting it to take longer than usual, but I think they maybe needed another server to accommodate the amount of tables/people. I will definitely come back to Modesto (since the food was amazing as usual), but maybe not on a Tuesday.

Good open atmosphere. I love a well lit place with outside seating. Even though in a shopping center they made a nice outdoor area for seating, Friendly staff, good food, good drinks. Plenty of parking.

Another delicious meal. Got two of the Al Pastor tacos and they were fabulous!! The salsa was not spicy this time and I really enjoyed that. The queso blanco enchiladas that my mom had were also really good that I might actually get that next time! Love Modesto!

Modesto is quickly becoming my favorite Mexican food in BR (sorry La Ca and Superior). Their prices are fantastic (I'm looking at you, happy hour) and the food always tastes fresh and delicious. Happy hour or not, I definitely recommend their house marg - it's not too sweet or too sour and has a great booziness without putting you down for the count when you want more than one. Love their chips and salsa, and the guacamole is a MUST. Shrimp tacos, birria tacos, mixed fajitas (my personal favorite), you can't go wrong with anything! I can't wait to check out their Brunch soon!

Good services but the tacos doesn't feel Mexican the flavor is 3/10! Is looks like a really fun places for drinks but the food no thank you
