The Best Korean Restaurants in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"Modoo Banjeom in Lynwood (with a second location in Bothell) is a noodle house that offers a variety of Korean-Chinese specialties. Silky, chewy, wheat noodles feature in a few versions of jjamppong, with the classic seafood version sporting a slightly spicy and smoky broth from gochugaru chili powder. Also popular is jajangmyeon, in which the noodles are topped with stir-fried pork and fermented black bean sauce. Dumplings, deep-fried pork with sweet and sour sauce (tangsuyuk) help round out a meal." - Jay Friedman

This is our family’s favourite place to have a quick dinner. Their noodles are good to 1 Adult and 1 kid for one order. We tried different dishes on the menus, all taste very good! The staff are always welcoming and friendly.

We stopped by Modoo Banjeom on a whim, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to our expectations. The food was just okay, nothing stood out in flavor or quality; overall, it felt below average compared to other Korean spots we’ve tried. It’s not a place we’d return to, but it might work if you’re just looking for something quick and convenient.

If you watch K-drama, you've witnessed that mouthwatering slurping of a bowl of 짜장면, 짬뽕, 탕수육, etc. Not only the favorite of police & gang bangers but college students & white collar office workers (if wearing a white shirt, wear a large bib) and many Korean people. Black bean noodles, spicy seafood noodle soup & sweet-n-sour pork/beef are Korean-Chinese comfort food staples that are easily accessible & affordable in S. Korea. Unfortunately, there aren't many of these restaurants in the US, so Modoo Banjeom in Bothell is a must when you crave this food. They also serve 깐풍기 (marinated fried chicken) & 마파두부 (spicy tofu). The prices are nowhere as cheap as in Korea but reasonable for Seattle area standards. The ingredients are fresh and offerings are prepared well. The waitstaff is friendly, attentive & prompt. Outdoor free parking lot; very popular so expect to wait for a table. Vibe is casual dining. Clean, cozy & contemporary interior. Recommended! Support your local small businesses & restaurants 👍

Clean restaurant in an American strip mall with plenty of parking. Staff is friendly and mostly young and actually speak English. Very busy on a Saturday lunch with almost all Korean customers. They also do pretty good takeout business where the containers are solid. The food tastes clean and fresh. The 짬뽕 (seafood noodles) was good. The spicy shrimp dish wasn’t anything special. We need to try other dishes, but think sticking to the main noodle dishes is a good approach. Went back and the other dishes are great!!! Highly recommend the Friends Combo 1 - a classic!

We tried this restaurant for dinner and it was pretty good. They don't take reservations and the restaurant is understandably small in this complex so tables for a larger party are all near the front door. Hot tea and pickled radishes are included with every meal which is nice. A pork black bean sauce is used quite a bit in their dishes but we found it a little bit salty for our taste. We also found the garlic sauce for the bok choy cloyingly sweet for a vegetable dish. Dishes not containing eggs could still be contaminated with them. I ordered only after asking many clarification questions about ingredients. Just beware of the cross contamination issue if anyone in your party has serious food allergies!

Exceptional service and incredibly fast! The staff is very attentive. They even gave us extra radish without us asking. It’s like they can read my mind! My favorite dish is the Jajang; the noodles are perfectly soft, and the sauce is so tasty. I also love the fried chicken. It’s crunchy, flavorful, and not too sweet. The place is very busy, and by 5 pm on Friday, it was almost full. Highly recommended!

I can’t believe this Korean restaurant which is literally only ONE mile from our house, has been open for close to two (2) years and I just discovered it today 12.28.2024‼️ 😮 I’m glad I did because their food is delicious, their staff is attentive and friendly, and you know it’s authentic when most of their customers are Korean (it’s not an Americanized restaurant) 🙌🏼💯😋 They served a tasty Jasmine tea with some yellow pickled radish right off the bat so I could refresh myself before I even placed my order. I ordered their delicious Jajang which had plentiful noodles with black bean sauce, onions, and pork. I’ll definitely go back and bring family and friends. 👍🏼😋

Modoo Banjeom in Bothell offers an unforgettable dining experience with its outstanding ambience and exemplary customer service. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a cozy, inviting atmosphere that immediately set the tone for a wonderful meal. The Fried Dumplings were a crispy delight, perfectly golden on the outside and bursting with savory goodness inside. The Tangsuyuk was a standout, with its tender, juicy pieces of pork coated in a delectably sweet and tangy sauce that left us craving more. The Seafood Gan Jajang was a symphony of bold, rich flavors, featuring an exquisite balance of fresh seafood and velvety black bean sauce. Every dish was a testament to the chef's skill and attention to detail, making our dining experience truly memorable. Modoo Banjeom's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction shines through in every aspect, from the delicious food to the impeccable service. This is not your topical Korean restaurant as they do not offer kimchi or other side dishes. However, I Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a fantastic meal in a charming setting.

Yelp
Delicious!!!! I tasted "wok chi" (a stir-fried food flavor from the wok) in a Jjamppong for lunch. The soup base was rich with flavors and just right at spicy level. They gave a good portion of food that I felt so full after finishing it all. I used to like the jjamppong from a Korean famous foodies' chain. But now I know I have a new go-to place for jjamppong. The two ladies working there are really nice. They give you exactly what you need at the time you need it. I totally recommend this restaurant while at the same time I hope there will not soon be a long line outside when I visit again.

Yelp
Disgustingly bad food. This place has either changed management or owners. I have been going to this Bothell location for years and have dined in with friends and family a lot. I also get take out often here...never again. It was so bad that I called to ask if the owners changed. She said that it's the same owners and the same recipes. I said no the recipe is NOT the same. Why are you now throwing in disgusting frozen bagged vegetables (you know that cheap lazy fried rice mix: corn, peas, beans) in your jjahjangmyun? And the creamy shrimp is so disgusting now!!! It's mushy and not edible! Whoever cooked this meal doesn't want to work there. They definitely need to do quality control. I told her there was no way that the same people made these dishes. Then she explained that the chef from the Lynnwood location switched shifts. I went to the Bothell location knowing that the food wasn't as good at Lynnwood so I guess the jokes on me. Don't go here, go to Paik's in Bellevue. I can't believe I paid over $150 along with a generous tip for this food, insane.

Yelp
This place is consistently delicious, accommodating, and the service is excellent Service aside, the noodles are also amazing. Kudos for the quality food, quick service, and happy demeanor. Places like these deserve to be recognized! Highly recommend jajaing and janpong!

Yelp
We have eaten a lot of Korean food, but this is our first taste of Korean Chinese food with their popular black bean sauce noodles. Modoo Banjeom in Bothell is known for serving gigantic portions at very good prices. The night we went was cold and wet. That steaming platter of noodles and the spicy noodle soup were perfection. Their food is very crave-able. We arrived just before 7, and we seated soon after. The restaurant is modest sized and clean. Our server was chatty and explained everything to us, giving us extra pickled radish for our leftovers. The staff worked very well together and readily met our eye contact for water refill and take-out containers. Thanks! The Food: Seafood Jajang Platter, $29 - 5 Stars Menu: 해물쟁반짜장 - Stir-fried noodles in black bean sauce, seafood, pork, and vegetables Their version of black bean sauce is slightly sweet, which is normal. You need to look at the photo to understand what this platter is about. It's insanely good and super satisfying with the mixture of ingredients. Everything is cooked just right. Jjamppong, $18 - 5 Stars Menu: 짬뽕 - Spicy noodle soup with seafood and vegetables This spicy seafood noodle soup is so, so good on this cold night. Theirs is a spicy clear broth version well stocked with seafood, veggies, and noodles.

Yelp
Delicious, mouthwatering Korean food! My second time eating at this restaurant. The first time I was at the Lynnwood location and I forgot to post about how good this restaurant was. Just like the Lynnwood location, the restaurant is clean, welcoming staff, and the food is comforting. We had the C1 combo friends A, and chili shrimp. Lots of food for two people. Definitely it could easily feed 3 maybe 4 depending on how much you can eat. Great foodie option to try out!

Yelp
Great flavors at this little Korean restaurant in Bothell! We had their Combo A which includes a spicy seafood soup, a black bean noodle dish, and a deep fried pork dish with a sweet dipping sauce The Korean names are hard to pronounce and remember, but all were generous sized and delicious. The spicy soup was overflowing with squid, shrimp, and other shell fish, and the soup was rich and perfect on a cold evening. The deep fried pork was my favorite, not overcooked and also good portion size. The black bean noodle was decent but I wish it had just a bit richer sauce. We had enough to take home for leftovers which were just as good the next day! This is not a very big place, maybe 9-10 tables plus a small bar, so there might be a little wait. But they get people out pretty quickly, and staff was all friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back for more of their menu.

Yelp
First time here and it won't be my last! I have been hearing about this place recently and wanted to try this place out. So my partner and I decided to trekked our way up north to Bothell to find this hidden gem. The restaurant is located in a plaza shared amongst with other businesses like Starbucks. As we entered the restaurant, we were seated immediately by the front door. We were instructed to scan the QR code for the menu. We decided to order the combo A which included the jjangmeon, tansuyuk (sweet and sour pork) and jjamppong. Here are my thoughts on each dish. Jjangmeon: The black bean sauce were sweet and saucy. I like the noodle chewy texture where it reminds me of spaghetti noodles. I do wish there were more flavors added to this traditional dish. Tangsuyuk: This was our first time trying this dish and we thought it was pretty good. They give you a bowl of sweet and sour sauce to pour over the pork. The pork was lightly battered and deep fried. I asked our server if we could sampled the mala sauce version and he kindly gave us a small bowl of the sauce to try. Overall, I would order this again but with the mala sauce instead since the spiciness made a difference to this dish. Jjamppong: Hands down our favorite dish of them all! The broth was flavored very well and it was spicy. You can taste the wok flavor in the broth. I also like having noodles and seafood in this dish. Really enjoyable to eat especially on a cold day! Will for sure order again when I come back! Overall, a great hole in the wall restaurant! The service was great and the staff were very attentive. Definitely will come back again! FYI they have another location out in Lynwood.

Yelp
I don't often search for Korean food, but this place is pretty good overall. Although it doesn't scream the most authentic Korean menu (which would intimidate me anyways), it's still a viable option. The best dish IMO was the baek jjamppong; the (giant portioned) savory white broth hits the spot on a cold night, and that alone wants to make me return. The classic jjangmyeon was a bit disappointingly sweet and lacked the more traditional savory taste. The Tangsuyuk/ sweet and sour pork great light, airy batter, but the sauce was a bit too sweet as well. I do like how they offer combo dishes to sample and share things too. Service was great and friendly for our dinner party that included younger 5 kids too.

Yelp
I have been driving by this place for months and never bothered to stop in, and I finally decided to make it a point to do it since the word noodle is in their sign. I'm so glad I did... At first I was a little thrown off by the fact the noodles were not what I was expecting, and there were so much unfamiliar things on the menu, but I was wowed by their shrimp fried rice (accompanied by their pork with bean paste which f-in' blew my mind). The soup that comes with it is spicy but so flavorful. Highly recommend! Their noodles are good too, but not nearly as flavorful as the friend rice.

Yelp
We never been to a Korean Chinese fusion place like this and we had to say everything was a hit here. The server was super patient with us. He explained all of our questions and made great recommendations. We ended up ordering 3 dishes and all were flavorful. The sweet and sour pork was super crispy. And we felt the meal was really cheap considering how much protein we got. Definitely will come back soon

Yelp
I keep coming back for their jajangmyeon and tangsuyuk! The portions are enough to fill me up and sometimes I end up taking leftovers home. Service has always been efficient and friendly. I love that they offer aprons during the meal because eating really saucy dishes can get a little messy. Their jajangmyeon is a bit on the sweeter side and the dipping sauce for the pork is the perfect sweetness and tartness. I just tried their fried dumplings for the first time and it was super crispy and I love that they have japchae in it. My belly is always happy after eating here!

Yelp
Came in Sunday about an hour before closing. Place was still packed. My wife and I got C1 Friends combo A which consists of jajng, jjampong, and tangsyuk Both noodle dishes were prepared well as the noodles had that proper level of chewiness Jjampong was by far the best dish. It was savory and spicy enough. Everything in the dish was well flavored. I would definitely come back just for this dish. The jajang noodles tasted just okay. There was nothing special and might have been a little too sweet for our liking. Tangsyuk was decent, but I feel like it's just that. Crispy fried pork dipped in sweet sauce. It's a traditional dish that I think is hard to improve. It didn't taste bad, but for two people, feels like it's too much haha. If you like sweet stuff you'll probably enjoy this a lot Anyways Jjampong for the win!

Yelp
Tried once so far. This place is definitely become one of my favorite restaurant! When I arrived, I saw lots of ppl waiting. Also, it seems Modoo Banjeom is loved by Koreans. So those two are great signs of a good Korean restaurant :) I ordered Friends Combo A + Kkanpunggi. I loveee their food. It tastes amazing eventhough I ordered it for to go & ate it at home. I couldn't stop eating Kkanpunggi! Delish! Jajang Noodle was amazing. Jjamppong Noodle could be better because I couldn't taste enough kick in seasoning. Tangsuyuk was good, but I wonder if they can make it crispier, it may be better? I may come here often on the weekend :)
google avatar

Yelp
Hidden gem. Menu items are fairly priced for the portion sizes. We ordered Combo A to try the Korean-Chinese trifetca (jajangmyeon + jjamppong + tangusyuk) which easily feeds 4 people. Jajangmyeon perfectly balanced the black bean sauce with noodles, and jjamppong featured an abundance of seafood. Sweet & sour sauce for the tangsuyuk is on the light side for my tastes and found myself craving bolder flavor, but the pork was fried perfectly to my liking. This was a guilt-free meal and will definitely be visiting more often.

Yelp
We visited on a Sunday for an early dinner. The staff was friendly and very efficient in serving our food. They also offered aprons for eating the jajangmyun, which made for a fun experience. We each ordered a JaJang (N1) and shared the Mandarin roll (A1). The Mandarin roll was delicious--crispy on the outside--with a thinner condensed milk compared to what you might find at a Chinese restaurant. The restaurant was clean, and it was popular among Koreans, which is a good sign of authenticity. Parking was easy, thanks to the available parking lot.
google avatar

Yelp
We ordered seafood jajang (N3) and Jjamppong (N5). The food was great. The portion is really big. We would come back again.

Yelp
Theee best jajangmyeon I've had so far. Portions are generous and the noodles are nice and chewy. Walked in on a Sunday night and there were no tables luckily this location has a bar so we did get served rather quickly. Workers helped us celebrate our friend's birthday amidst the crowd.

Roger P.

Yelp
Cute spot for authentic Korean food! Staff was friendly and helpful. M4. KKANPUNGGI was my fav. The chicken was perfectly crisp and not too breaded. The fried rice was delicious as well that came with soup and black bean sauce on the side. The black bean noodles were good but enjoyed the other options. Look forward to heading back again soon.

Yelp
solid jajang spot !! my cousin and I decided to come here on Friday for dinner. Parking was easy to find as they have slots right up front in an accessible, free parking lot. It wasn't too busy around 4:30pm with only 3 other small groups inside the restaurant , so we were greeted right away and seated. The restaurant gives mellow, family dinner vibes. It's more on the quiet side and has a good amount of seating: not too close to each other. The menu is pretty concise with only one vegan option which is what I ordered. We didn't have to wait long for our server to come by either and they kindly checked on us often throughout our meal. You pay up front when you're done though. Vegan gan jajang noodles: I was expecting tofu or vegan meat for some reason, but the black bean sauce has baby corn, yellow corn kernels, green peas, and green beans inside. The black bean sauce itself is well salted and has a rich, savory flavor, but I felt like it needed more of a kick which is why I added a lot of the pepper on the table. The caramelized, diced onions inside the dish are plentiful. Therefore, if you usually hate onions like me, I would ask for less. They weren't raw, but rather soft which made it less noticeable. Though the noodles were long and had an addicting chewy texture. I also thought it was cool that the presentation of this dish keeps the sauce separate from the noodles because I hate over bloated noodles and it lets you control how much you want. jajang noodles (regular): my cousin really liked her dish noting pretty much the same sentiments as me. It was rich and has that black bean aroma wafting throughout the meal. There was a really good amount of pork in her sauce as well. They were cut into thicker slices, but still bite size. The meal was well balanced flavor wise and a good portion of sauce, but we wish there were more noodles. There was so much sauce left over at the end of the both of us, another portion of noodles or rice is necessary to finish the sauce. That was my only critique and the fact that the onions were a bit excessive in my opinion. I also wouldve loved to see more vegetarian/vegan options like veggie dumplings, but that's not a deal breaker since the noodles were good on their own. We especially loved the complimentary sliced yellow radishes that came on the side as they added a different crunchy texture to the soft dish and acidity to cut through the richness. Some other things to note is that they are closed everyday from 3-4pm for break. Therefore if you want a late lunch, this isn't the place for you. Otherwise, we left full and happy we decided to come here for dinner. Would def recommend if you're craving jajang x

Yelp
This review is based solely on the food since I ordered this to go. Stopped in here while returning home from Snohomish and I'm glad I did. Hands down best jjajangmyeon I've had. Period. I'm actually sad it's so far north from where i live. Need to come back and try the rest of the menu!

Yelp
Came here on a Thursday afternoon thinking it wouldn't be busy. It was busy! Service was prompt and the food was great. Brought my family and it was a perfect ambiance for that. Everything tasted fresh and I'm so happy they opened one in Lynnwood! My new favorite Korean/Chinese food spot at the moment.

Yelp
Gives large portions perfect for sharing. Definitely one of the better korean fusion foods in the Washington area. The staff was very friendly and always checking in. The food came out pretty quick. The place has plenty of seating but it can get busy during some hours, so you may have to wait a little. The space is clean and looks pretty new!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! We got the seafood pancake (elite - generous on the seafood, crispy edges, light batter, not too salty or bland), yukgaejang for me, and bibimbap for my very pregnant friend who no longer can hold down spice for some reason. My yukgaejang was so good - very generous portion also. I ate a bunch of this the next day for lunch AND dinner. The banchan here is generous, and everything is also very tasty. The fish cakes and potato salad were my faves. Potato salad banchan was mustardy but in a very very positive way, coming from someone who isn't a mustard enthusiast Very friendly - we came on a weekday at 4:30pm LOL. No wait then, but my friend said the waits can end up being quite long

Yelp
This place is consistently delicious, accommodating, and the service is excellent - one of the reasons why our family frequents this restaurant. With a handful of squirrely little ones, it is easy to feel self-conscious in a restaurant setting. However, whenever we come here, the staff is so sweet and even offers kids coloring sheets and crayons. Service aside, the noodles are also amazing. I believe they make it on-site and the texture is on point! Kudos for the quality food, quick service, and happy demeanor. Places like these deserve to be recognized!

Yelp
On tonight's episode of I love dating myself I had the opportunity to enjoy Korean food : Modoo Banjeom Korean Wok House : Friends Combo A Jajang, Jjamppong, Tangsuyuk It was a nice quiet evening & the food was served fresh & hot! I really enjoy eating food family style and this did not disappoint at all.
google avatar

Janet Y.

Yelp
Wow- the food here is excellent. I normally would have just gotten the staples- jjajang and jjampong but I was with a group and ventured to try other things- all excellent!! The ambience is a little more casual and diner-like. It can be pretty crowded and not many seating options for large groups. But if wanting a quick, delicious bite that doesn't break the bank- this is a delicious Korean/ Chinese option!
google avatar

Alex N.

Yelp
One of the best places to get Korean-Chinese food. Highly recommend the crispy pork, soup, and black bean noodle. We got the mapo tofu too which we were all impressed with. That was the only dish that came with rice so I would order more if you want. Overall the amount we got was perfect for 4 adults that just went on a hike. Great service even when the place was packed.

Yelp
We were in a mood for some Korean food and decided to give this place a try. The pics on reviews were tempting and hence decided to visit. The service was really good, they kept checking with us frequently if we were doing good.We went early for dinner (around 6ish) and found a spot quickly, the place got crowded after that. Parking was available right outside the restaurant and didn't have any issues. The ambience was also good. We ordered the following (we wanted to try the mongolian beef but it wasn't available) - Tangsuyuk Brisket Jjamppong Chili Shrimp Gochu Japchae We liked all our orders and would be definitely visiting this place again.
google avatar

Vivian L.

Yelp
This is probably the best Korean-Chinese place that I've tried. Their jjampong is really spicy but has a great flavor and includes lots of seafood. If you don't want spicy food you can get it in a non-spicy version. The jajang noodle was also really good! I usually don't really like Korean jajang compared to the Chinese version because the sauce tends to be too sweet, but theirs is perfectly balanced. We came on a weekend and it was pretty busy, so you might need to wait if coming at peak times.
google avatar

Bruce L.

Yelp
Not a big fan and unlikely to visit again. Being fusion between Chinese and Korean first attracted my visit; however, I feel the food was super overpriced. We tried the (creamy?) shrimp, that's like the traditional walnut shrimp without the nut, the shrimp was good, but it's way overpriced. We also tried a pork dish, I forgot the exact name, it's similar to the traditional sweet and sour pork, but not as good. Again, overpriced. We also tried a noodle dish, which is not bad. I guess food wasn't terrible, but given the price, I'm not a fan.

Yelp
I went to Modoo Banjeom on a Wednesday evening. Most of the tables were full but we were greeted and seated right away. It was my first time here and because of that, we ordered the most basic Korean/Chinese dishes. We ordered the combo 1 which is Jjajangmyun, jjampong, and tangsuyuk. Jjajangmyun: good flavor but little too sweet and salty for my taste buds, although I loved the chewy noodles! Wished there was just a little more sauce to mix. Took a little longer to mix because there was barely enough. Jjampong: Decent flavor profile but lacked the fiery smokey authentic jjampong taste. Despite the lacking flavor, the texture of the noodles were great. Tangsuyuk: this was great!!! Pork was tender and not over cooked. The batter was just the right thickness and the oil tasted fresh. Overall, service was great and food was decent. I was pleasantly surprised how quick our food came out but I'm just not sure if I want to drive 30 mins to eat super sweet jjajangmyun, mediocre jjampong for $52 +tax + tip.

Yelp
A group of us decided to try Modoo recently on a cold night after seeing they offered some Korean staples - jajang, jjamppong, tangsuyuk, and more. It's a casual eatery with a decent amount of seating, though it was quite busy on a weekday night and they appeared to be doing a reasonable amount of take-out. Overall, I thought the food was decent, but nothing really wow-ed me and inspired me to come back, yet. The prices are a bit higher, but it's because the portions were HUGE. My jjamppong was enough for our dinner, and another couple meals, easy. My friend ordered the creamy shrimp and she was a little disappointed by how sweet the sauce was. I thought it was quite good, but agree it was on the sweeter side. We shared everything, but I think next time I'd come with a group and opt for one of the combos to really sample their selection. Realistically, our experience was closer to a 3.5 stars, but I'd like to return back and try some of their combos. I think maybe we just ordered the wrong thing for our taste preferences, so I'd love to give it another shot!

Yelp
If you love classic Korean Chinese food, this is a great spot to go! I love stopping by whenever I'm in the area for a good bowl of jjamppong but otherwise the other food, I'm not sure I'm a fan. Sometimes it is really busy here and so that can feel really chaotic but I find it worth it every time I'm done with my food. It has been my first time going to a restaurant that serves Chinese Korean food that doesn't serve kimchi but that might be my only complaint! It's sooo good otherwise.

Yelp
I have been searching for a good Korean-Chinese fusion spot in Seattle for months...MONTHS! Korean-Chinese food was developed by early Chinese immigrants in Korea and is today a huge part of Korean culture. Collectively it's called 중화요리 (junghwa yori) and is one of the most common delivery foods. Luckily Modoo Banjeom opened not too long ago so it was time to call up some friends to check it out. @jgk____ , @mylifeaskat_ , @eatwithbaobae , and I shared a few classic dishes 1. 짬뽕 / Jjampong: spicy noodle soup with seafood and vegetables (5/5) 2. 깐풍기 / Kkanpunggi: deep fried garlic chicken stir fried in sweet, sour, & spicy sauce (2/5) 3. 자장면 / Jajangmyeon: noodles topped with black bean sauce, stir fried pork, and vegetables (5/5) 4. 탕수육 / Tangsuyuk: deep fried pork with sweet and sour sauce (2/5) The heart of any Korean-Chinese spread includes these dishes. The 짬뽕 here was superb A famous Korean chef, 이연복, who specializes in Chinese cuisine emphasizes something called 불맛 , or literally taste of fire. It's the unique depth of flavor you can only get from stir frying at intense heats over a flame, traditionally in a wok. And wow the 짬뽕 has it! The broth is so rich with umami and the spices blend perfectly with the noodles, seafood, and vegetables. We regretted not ordering a second bowl. The 자장면 was also outstanding, the black bean sauce being rich and not too thick with a lot of meat and vegetables. It could have a little more noodles though. The 깐풍기 & 탕수육 were a little disappointing. The 탕수육 sauce was good but the actual fried pork pieces were not that crispy, which I found odd. The 깐풍기 is not spicy at all and includes a lot of vegetables you normally don't see in the sauce, like corn. Overall, I highly recommend the 짬뽕 & 자장면 (1 & 3). Try the other two dishes if it's your first time but I personally wouldn't get it again. Follow my Instagram and TikTok @thephotographerfoodie for more eats! :)

Yelp
Stopped by Modoo banjeom for lunch on a Sunday and it was packed! We put our names down on the kiosk by the front and we waited for about an hour before getting seated- we were 7th in line but the restaurant is pretty small with not too many tables inside. We ordered the combo A (jjampong, jjajang and tang su yook) and ordered an extra jjajang to split between my family. Portion size was decent and the food was delicious. Jja jang was a bit sweet for me but wasn't overpowering and greasy like other places. Jjampong was my personal favorite- it was packed with seafood, sprouts and cabbage and the broth was just SO flavorful and a bit spicy. Tang su yook (not pictured because I was so distracted by how good everything was) was also very good. Just enough batter coated onto the pork and it was so chewy. 10/10 recommend this spot for a cozy meal

Yelp
Have been going here every Wednesday night for nearly a year now! Absolutely love their kkamppungi (I sadly don't have a picture), but the food and service are amazing. The environment is great for late dinners!

Yelp
Stopped by Modoo Banjeom for lunch and this small restaurant was really busy, with multiple groups waiting to be seated. We opted for takeout rather than waiting for a table. This is Korean cuisine, and the restaurant's sign displays Modoo Banjeom, K-Noodle House. So, noodles seems to be the specialty here. Tried the jajang and the japchae. The jajang noodles had a great texture and the jajang sauce was good, and despite the dark black color was not overpoweringly strong in black bean flavor. Surprisingly, the japchae was spicy rather than sweet and used wide flat noodles rather than the typical rounded thinner noodles. Personally, I'm not a fan of this version of japchae, unfortunately . However, it is a variation that was fun to try.

Yelp
Cozy spot in Bothell. Wouldn't expect to have stumbled upon this. Friendly staff and great, attentive service. Food was yummy and warm, perfect for the cozy rainy weather. We got the Combo A which gave us a variety of things to try. It was perfect for 3 people, either some leftovers even! The jjamppong and jajang noodles were super soft and chewy. Flavor weren't too overpowering or overwhelming. Portions were great value! And the tangsuyuk had chewy batter, yet not too battered where I still tasted the pork in it. Reminded me of Chinese sweet and sour pork. I'd recommend it for some Korean Chinese fusion and a cozy meal!

Yelp
Casual eatery ambience. Ok option if in the area for the typical Koreanized Chinese noodle lunch of: N3. SamSun Gan JaJang eggy (ramen-like) noodles with black bean sauce & story fried seafood that you mix together yourself. $18 4* N5. JjamPpong slightly spicy eggy (ramen-like) noodles in a nice seafood broth $17 4.5* M2. TangSuYuk slightly crispy (glutinous rice batter) fried pork with a side of sweet & sour (we added more vinegar ourselves) dipping sauce. (Can substitute beef for the pork for $3.) Med$25. Lg$30 3.5* BUT watch your step for their slippery floor! Told 2 wait staff 3 times that the floor was oily and slippery but was only told to be careful about it! They pointed to the rectangular mat that covered only part of the slippery walkway and 2 yellow floor signs propped up. Safety is a 1* Directions -Hwy 405, exit 124, -Turn Right at NE 195th St, -Turn Right at 120th Ave NE for 1/2 mile. -After passing 185th St, turn Left into the strip mall on the left.

Yelp
Hands down-- best jjamppong/jjajangmyeon in Washington. Jjamppong broth was so rich and flavorful and ACTUALLY spicy. I think it is probably the closest thing you can find comparing to these dishes in Korea. I liked the jjajangmyeon sauce (very thick and rich also). I think combo is a great deal if you want to order extra dishes on top of your main meal to save some bucks! Parking lot is big with plenty of space. Servers were very attentive and nice. They check up on you every 5 minutes. Lol. Price is reasonable. I will say this is my favorite new restaurant in Bothell! Will definitely come back here. And recommend my friends to come.

Yelp
The food here is delicious! We went for the C1 Friends combo A, which is a steal considering what you get - Jajang, Jjamppong, and a medium Tangeuyuk. Jajang is those black noodles topped with black bean sauce, stir-fried pork, and veggies. And let me tell you, that sauce is just spot-on, not too salty, not greasy at all! Then there's the Jjamppong, the red soup-based dish. It's a spicy noodle soup packed with seafood and veggies. It's like a flavor explosion in every spoonful, with the perfect balance of heat and flavor from all the ingredients. But my absolute favorite has to be the Tangeuyuk, which is deep-fried pork with sweet and sour sauce. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and that sauce? More tangy than sweet, but it just makes the fried pork taste even better! The place itself is adorable, and it gets pretty busy during dinner rush. But we were seated in no time, and the staff super friendly, always making sure our tea was topped up. I will definitely return and visit again when I'm in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Friends Combo B ($55) comes with: - Jajang (Black bean sauce noodles) - Jjamppong (Spicy seafood noodle soup) - Kkanpunggi (Deep fried chicken with sweet spicy sauce) When asked, waitress said this combo serves 2-3 people so we also ordered another dish as we had 4 people. Realistically, this combo alone would have been enough for all of us, so we didn't need the extra dish! The Jajang was slightly sweet and didn't have much of a strong black bean flavor. Noodles were a bit mushy. Not the best jajangmyeon I've tried (and i dont even like jajangmyeon). Jjamppoing was flavorful and had a deep spicy / peppery flavoring that covered any seafood taste. It was fine. Kkanpunggi was crispy even after being tossed in sauce. Chicken wasn't dry. Pretty solid. YANGJANGPI ($45) - described as "Cold, chewy noodles served with a variety of seafood and vegetables in spicy mustard sauce". This was a LARGE platter of stuff (meat, seafood, veggies) that you mixed up then served. Definitely sized for sharing amongst 3 people. Rather plain without the horseradish-y (not-really-wasabi) sauce. This was decent!

Yelp
While trying to figure out what to eat for dinner I found Modoo Banjeom on yelp. It's been a minute since I had Korean Chinese food so figured I'd give it a shot. I arrived around 5:30pm on a Friday and ordered the friendship combo A for myself knowing I'd have leftovers. In the time I was there, there did start to be a waiting list for seats. It was already fairly full when I had arrived. The staff does speak Korean and majority of the cliental was also Asian. 1. JaJang- I liked the Jajang noodles. There is visible veg in the sauce and the noodles were done just right to me. There isn't too much for me to say about it beyond I liked it. 2. Jjampong - I've never tired Jjampong before this so I didn't have any expectations. It wasn't bad but I don't think it was quite my taste. There are a decent amount of veggies in it which is a refreshing change from most takeout. That being said, if I were still a kid and sharing this dish, I would have def made a face or made an effort to avoid the black fungus in the dish. Also the mussels had broken when served to me so there was that to also look out for. 3.Tangsuyuk - All the comments saying that this isn't that crispy are right. It's not terrible but it doesn't quite hit the way like Korean fried chicken does. I did enjoy the sauce. Like everything else, you could see full pieces of veg and it had a pineapple slice!

Yelp
Definitely found my new favorite spot for Korean Chinese food. Came here on a Saturday night around 7pm and it was pretty busy inside. They have mostly table seating, with a few seats at the bar, but the overall space isn't that large so expect to wait if you come here with a larger party. We ordered the kkanppunggi as well as jjajangmyeon, and it was SO good. The kkanppunggi was hot and fresh out of the fryer, and had really good flavor. Jjajangmyeon noodles were perfectly cooked and super chewy. They do not skimp on the portions and sauce either. Service was really friendly, they checked up on us multiple times and were really speedy. Our food literally came out in 5 minutes or less after we ordered. Prices were a bit on the higher side but can't complain given the taste. Will definitely be back in the near future!

Yelp
Come with a group so you can order the family style combo options. Everything is amazing. The chili shrimp are jumbo shrimps on top of clean greens. What a good match! The jjajangmen does not disappoint, super moist, chewy noodles, and lots of seafood and sauce! The servers are also very kind. Group of 5 or more has tip included in the bill

Yelp
Great spot for Korean Chinese food! Everything we got was tasty and a good portion. The restaurant is a bit small but very clean with great service. Bathrooms available and parking in the plaza. Food -baek jjamppong: good broth and they give you lots of seafood and vegetables. It is a bit salty but that's pretty normal for jjamppong. -jajang: great black bean sauce with lots of toppings. Solid dish -fried rice: also very solid dish and they give you a side of black bean sauce and jjamppong soup to enjoy with your rice

Yelp
I would give this restaurant a 4.5 rating but I can't do half ratings on Yelp. It's a bit odd to say "Authentic" Korean-Chinese restaurant but that's exactly what this restaurant is. I got to try a variety of dishes and they were all decent to great. I will cover each dish in detail below: 1. Seafood JaJang Platter - this was simply amazing. Best Jjajangmyun I have had in years. Portions are big enough for 2 people so the price is actually quite good. They put so many shrimps, squid, and mussels and I thought the seafood went very well with the dish. What is amazing about this though is the sauce. It is a tad bit on the sweeter side but I didn't think it was sweet. In fact, it was very well balanced and packed with flavors . Also the noodles they used were just perfect. Slightly thinner and chewier style noodles compared to some other Jjajangmyun places use. I highly recommend ordering this dish. 2. Modoo Jjampong - this dish was also great but I tasted a bit too much msg. I love msg but I think they put a bit too much on ours. What is impressive about this dish is that it has that "fire" smoky taste. I think this is the first Korean-Chinese restaurant in WA to serve Jjampong with smokiness. They use the same noodles as Jjajangmyun so they were perfect as well. I would also recommend this dish. 3. Chili Shrimp - I thought this was good but not great. For breading, I believe they use some sort of rice instead of flour. The texture is quite chewy. But because of this, I feel like it lacked crispness. Maybe some people may prefer this type of texture but I do not. The sauce was good but I thought it was a tad bit too sweet. I personally would not recommend this dish. 4. Tangsuyuk - Similar to Chilli Shrimp, they use what appears to be rice for breading. I do not know yet how I feel about this. It definitely does not taste like the traditional tangsuyuk but I know some Korean-Chinese restaurants in Korea make it this way too. The sauce is great. I liked the fact that it was not overly sweet. I do recommend this dish but I have had better tangsuyuk before in WA. I think this is currently the best Korean-Chinese restaurant in WA. This place reminds me a lot of Chui Hong in Surrey BC. The restaurant closes between 3pm and 4pm. We went around 3:50pm and waited 10 minutes. We got seated right away but the line was very long by the time we were done eating. So be prepared to wait. The place is not very big. Highly recommended. 4.5 stars for food. 4 for service. 5 stars for portions.

Yelp
Delicious food! Best jjangpong I've had in WA state. The broth is smoky and flavorful. Lots of toppings. Jajangmyeon is a bit more plain compared to other places but still good. Noodles is chewy and bouncy. The pork in Jajangmyeon tasted a bit gingery, but not bad. I forgot to take pictures of the sweet and sour pork. This is not something I will come back for, because it's a bit dry and the sauce is a bit too sweet. I will come back for the noodles. Restaurant is quite small so expect a wait on the weekend. Staff is very nice and attentive despite the crowd.
