This was by far the most delicious and beautiful cake ever!!! The cake itself was moist and delicious, not too overly sweet. The icing was absolutely to die for!! My boyfriend got me this cake from them for my birthday, and everybody was raving about it! We added some of our own decorations ontop of it, but it turned out absolutely beautiful! Will definitely be using them for other celebrations in the future :)

Google
Wedding cake was beautiful! Guests raved at how delicious it was. The white cake, raspberry center and cream cheese icing was a perfect pairing. Thank you Moeller’s, our family has trusted you for over 35 years and you never disappoint.

Google
This place is fantastic. I know my family has been using this Bakery since the 1960's and onward. Everything here is freshly prepared, using old family recipes and it is well priced. You gotta pay attention on your way there or you will pass right by it. I like the white cake, the chocolate is good too but the white cake just has a perfect taste to it. If I ever get married, my wedding cake HAS to come from here. I carry on the family tradition by getting birthday cakes and holiday treats from here. Stop in and get a treat, you'll be glad you did!

Google
I’ve been coming here for years and y’all never disappoint!!! Y’all did a fantastic job on my daughter’s cake for her baptism and now her first birthday. Thank you!

Google
The staff are friendly. I got here for the snowballs. They are my favorite. They are typically soft and moist and dreamy. The other day the snowballs were a tad bit dry. The experience wasn't the same. I bought 4 and only ate 1 due to the dryness of the cake.

Google
Great service. Old school bakery serving up amazing treats. The cake in the cupcake was moist and rich with great flavor.Definitely coming back. My son asked to go back practically the moment we left

Google
After a customer of ours gave us a pack of gingerbread cookies as a thank you gift for the work we had done at her house I instantly fell in love with the cookies. With that being said that is now a favorite bakery of mine to any time I am in the area I have to stop for the cookies. They simply are the best gingerbread cookies I have had in my life and will continue to go there as long as they are in business

Google
Such a wonderful gem I was introduced to!! Love this place! The staff is so friendly and go out of their way to make for a perfect experience at their bakery! Everything I have tried is over the top delicious!! My absolute favorite is the Amazing Cherry turnovers!!! So yummy! When I told my Bible study girlfriends where I went they were so excited, some knew about this place and some now have a new favorite bakery!! Great place!

Yelp
Been coming here for almost 20 years and enjoy all their offerings. Would have given them a 5-star rating, but the pricing quoted does not match the website. So do your homework to prevent them over charging you! I phoned in a recent order for a 8-inch round cake and was quoted a price of $74.00. Although I was floored at the price as it seemed much higher than what I had been paying before, I went ahead and placed the order. Subsequently, I visited their website and saw that the price for a 10-inch cake was $74, but I wanted the 8 inch which was showing $50. When I went in to pick up the 8 inch cake, they had written the price of $74.00 on the ticket and that is what they wanted to charge. I spoke with someone who identified themselves as a manager and he told me that a "plain" 8 inch cake "without decoration" was $50, and "with decoration" it was $74. 48% more to decorate? I didn't want a Rembrandt; just "Happy Birthday". When I pointed out that their website made no distinction between prices for a decorated/non-decorated cake, he reluctantly relented and charged me $50.

Yelp
This place is a Houston treasure! I can't believe how long it's been since I walked in... My parents have come in here for decades. It's still delightful and delicious!

Yelp
I'm old enough to remember the original Moeller's on Almeda, with Mrs Moeller herself running things like a boss. And then their store in the Village. Unforch, their superb cream bread and rolls are things of the past. But we came for the sugar cookies and I'm pleased to say that they taste unchanged from my childhood. These are the sugar cookies by which all others should be judged. Whatever else you come in for, be sure to get a dozen cookies. BTW, for those who don't remember, the Moeller's pad site building started life as a Howard Johnson's.

Yelp
This place is considered a staple but I don't know why? I've visited 3 times and ordered 3 desserts in order to understand why people love Moller's bakery. The first time I visited, I got petit fours and they were grainy. The second time I ordered a cupcake and it was unremarkable except for the sweetness - it was remarkably sweet and one note. The exact same can be said about their cake. I live close by but I drive elsewhere for baked goods. I just don't get it.

Yelp
I called and told them I need a white cake with white icing in a Christmas "let's get lit" theme for a "lights in the heights" party. This is what was waiting for me at pickup. Moellers is AWESOME! And their ginger/raisin bars are amazing too.

Stephen Stein

Yelp
It's a great old school bakery, a Houston staple, got our birthday cake from them And lots of cheese straws

Yelp
Awesome bakery! One of the best in Houston. Cakes are fresh and have this unique taste that I love!!! Cookies are awesome too, especially the ones with sprinkles. This place has been around forever and they have got baking down! I've never met a rude staff member either. Also shout out to whoever does the art on the windows for holidays!

Yelp
I am a native Houstonian and have grown up with Moellers. Since 2011, I have lived in Cypress, so the bakery is not in my direct path. I recall it being for sale back in 2016/2017, and I guess it sold because I got a cake for my husband's birthday and it was horrible. It was dry and had an odd taste, like it had been stored uncovered for days in a refrigerator. No one finished their piece of cake and I threw out the remaining half. So disappointed.
google avatar

Naomi H.

Yelp
I just stopped by to see what they got!! I couldn't decide everything looked so good I bought different pieces and they were all soft and yummy what surprised me the most was these cookies. Usually decorated cookies like this are hard and not really delicious I've started to think they're just a gift as decoration and not really edibles WELLLLL THESE ONES were very very good the filling on the top was "cake like" and so soft and the cookie crumbled but nice to hard as a rock ! Lovely I really liked this place. Thinking on going back today

Yelp
Engagement cake was pretty but cake was bland and dry. I ordered a cake for my engagement party which was like a bridal wedding style cake. The staff was very friendly and helpful in guiding me to decide on what kind of cake to order. We decided on a simple but elegant one-tier white cake with some decorative flowers and gold flakes on the top. The end product looked wonderful and elegant just as promised, and was a great complement to our engagement party. However my guests and I found the cake itself to be rather disappointing. The cake was so dry that I needed to drink water between every couple of bites. The cake was also rather bland in flavor. In contrast, the white frosting was too sweet, and did not have much flavor other than a sugary sweetness. In all, I have mixed feelings about my experience. Moeller's delivered on the appearance and aesthetic, which was probably the most important thing for my occasion, but definitely underperformed in flavor of the actual cake. As a foodie I find that to be rather disappointing - when food tastes so much worse than it looks. If you are to engage their services, just don't expect too much in terms of flavor. But if you're just looking for pretty decorative baked goods, they will execute well.

Rachel S.

Yelp
Great fresh cupcakes! Friendly service. I called and they answered right away. Got my order placed and picked up efficiently. Kids don't usually like the cupcake (just icing) but these got fully eaten.

Yelp
Pardon me, but this experience was absolutely weird! I'd passed this bakery on my way home from work for a few months and figured I'd take the family by on a Saturday we'd visited a nearby park. It looks pretty inviting from the outside, but we walked in and it was a small establishment with cakes and a very, very limited assortment of pastries. I wanted chocolate chip cookies. The weird thing was that when we walked in there were about three young women and one young guy behind the counter speaking Spanish and laughing (my girlfriend, who was with me, is Hispanic). We looked into the glass cases filled with whatever they had and didn't see choclate chip cookies or ver many any other cookies. I was confused. The staff stayed at the end of the counter and talked in low voices and didn't offer any welcome or assistance until we were leaving. I asked if they usally had cookies and they said not really. Maybe I'm the one who is weird, but I've NEVER been to a bakery that didn't have cookies. Wah-wah-wah!

Yelp
Sadly, Moeller's is not what it used to be. I stopped in today to pick up some bakery items to share at work. They have always been a go-to and I was excited to share these with my work colleagues. However, today, everything had a weird, musty taste to it. Like, the air in the bakery is dirty or something. I've never experienced this there or anywhere for that matter so it was really disappointing. For reference, I purchased the cinnamon pecan coffee cake, the orange rolls, peanut butter cookies and petit fours. I only tasted the peanut butter cookie - which had a strong musty taste and a petit four - also a strong, musty taste. Employees are just as nice as always but the actual baked items were not good. It's sad that Moeller's has dropped in quality. Houston is short on bakeries as it is!

Yelp
2023-02-11: I had Mr. James at Moeller's Bakery craft me this valentines-themed, king cake for my wife and daughter. It was absolutely outstanding. Once again, you absolutely get what you pay for at Moellers! It was moist, delicious, and wonderfully sweetened. I rarely, rarely eat sweets. So if I'm going to eat them, they have to be "top-notch"... and Moeller's is absolutely top-notch!
google avatar

Yelp
I was excited to try a few items from here because I'd read a lot of hype about this place over the years. The intent of the trip was to get a cupcake for my son, but since I can never just buy one thing we ended up leaving the store with a chocolate cupcake, a dozen Mexican wedding cookies, and a lemon meringue pie. Overall, the items were fine. The cupcake couldn't compete with cupcakes from specialty cupcakeries, the cookies were tasty, but a little bit soft for a Mexican wedding cookie imo, and I really wasn't a fan of the lemon meringue pie because it had a really artificial lemon flavor. I think we paid ~$35 for everything, so fair price. Its definitely possible that I just didn't get the right items this time. I do think they're known for their kings cake which I haven't tried, so I definitely will plan to try that in the future. They also had what looks like a pretty good selection of fruit kolaches, and I'm still in the market to find a good, true Czech kolache place in Houston. Essentially, not super impressed yet, but open to redefining my experience next time

Yelp
I bought a birthday cake from here just recently. It was a 6 inch Devil Food Cake. It was very delicious with a very soft, very flavorful cake holding a great amount of chocolate taste. The icing was great, sweet and thick. The flavor, freshness and quality of this whole cake were all on point. The service was great n friendly on this visit. I also definitely recommend the yellow cake with chocolate icing from here as well. I haven't had the strawberry, lemon chiffon or pineapple u.d. cakes here, but I'm sure they're great too. Moeller's is a great bakery for cakes.
google avatar

Grace C.

Yelp
This bakery has cakes and assorted ready-to-eat baked goods from their display case. Cookies, fudge brownies, cupcakes, petit fours, and more. Cupcakes and petit fours are good! My kids always get the crystal sprinkle-covered sugar cookies. Their gingerbread man cookie is supposed to be popular but it wasn't my favorite. Guess I'm just not a great fan of gingerbread.

Judi M.

Yelp
It's always good - too good. Love their pettifores. People are pleasant and helpful Ambiance is fine - not great but their food is

M S.

Yelp
As always, Moeller's is FABULOUS! Petit fours, cup cakes cheese straws, cookies and Heavenly white cake never fail! Truly a Houston treasure and a favorite of countless Houstonians for the past several decades! Moeller's NEVER disappoints!

Yelp
Picked up a beautiful, fresh Raspberry Cream Cheese King Cake to celebrate Epiphany in 2022. My NOLA native hubby proclaimed it "great", as the top is generously covered with colored sugar. I found it to be fresh, soft, sweet and yeasty. The creamy cheese played really well with the sweet, tart raspberry filling. Great for breakfast or dessert. The price for the small cake is $44, which is on the high end (we picked up a luscious dark chocolate King Cake from Brennan's in New Orleans last year, and it was larger and cost 40% less). Best King Cake that we have found in H-town.
google avatar

Tad W.

Yelp
Best bakery that I've visited in Houston out of eight. Perfect fresh petit fours which which should be a must in bakeries but seemingly lacking in HTX bakeries, perfect apple strudel. Very good king cake that could sell well in New Orleans, kind of like a baked donut with premium fillings and sugar crystals on top. Great rec by NOLA's Phil M.

CJ S.

Yelp
Friends bright over an assortment of cookies for our house - all were so good and fresh. Cant wait to get more items.

Brittany B.

Yelp
Best petit fours town. Recommend getting a mix of all flavors keep cold until ready to serve.
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Moeller's has been our go to bakery for many years. We wouldn't go anywhere else. The petit fors are to die for.
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
Got the carrot cake for my wife's birthday and all in all it was okay. I'm use to the cake being more of a spiced cake and this one was more blond and didn't have a bunch of flavor. Additionally there where no walnuts and the frosting was more of an iced then cream cheese.
google avatar

Rex C.

Yelp
I have actually never been to Moeller's bakery but I've eaten so many of their treats because my cousin has been going there for many years and at his house parties he always has stuff from their location. I absolutely love their cheese straws. They have a little bit of spice to them but they are absolutely amazing. I've had so many desserts from there where do I begin. I've had their Italian cream cake, I've had their lemon sofan farm, I've had their Super Bowl cookies, I've had their pecan pie, I've had their apple pie, I've had their blueberry pie,. I've had every single pie they make I'm pretty sure. I've had several of the cakes. They are all extremely tasty but full of flavor and they also use high-quality ingredients. If you were in the area and have a sweet tooth I highly recommended you stop by at Moeller's bakery, you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
We got a 1/3-sheet white cake here decorated for a birthday, and although I was not the one who paid for it, I heard that the price did not meet the expectations of what we got from the product. I did eat the cake, and it was your standard white cake with white icing (notice I don't say vanilla because I don't honestly know if it was vanilla flavored). Tasted very much like what you could get from a local grocer, and the piping/icing decorating work was nice but nothing outstanding. Again, comparing this to the price made us have the feeling of an "Ok", 3 star experience. The place was packed and doing a big business, so I do plan to come back in the future to try some different items and will update my review accordingly as needed.
google avatar

Anj G.

Yelp
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this bakery. It's my go-to for special occasion cakes. They are amazing, and the price is moderately above average. Check out the Elsa doll cake we ordered - sooooo beautiful! I found this place while looking for petit fours, which are probably the best treats at this bakery, and was sold ever since.

Mary N.

Yelp
This place is expensive without the taste. We spent $100 on a birthday sheet cake. The icing is like pure sugar, no buttercream taste here! It has a chemical aftertaste and even the chocolate has no taste of chocolate? The cake was also under flavored! No red velvet taste here! Their decor of the cake is juvenile. Really, there are some good bakeries in Houston but this one seems like people keep going because its been there. They don't even seem to try anymore
google avatar

Ada C.

Yelp
When my husband was at the store picking up a king cake, he came across an old gentleman who was also a customer picking up a king cake. My husband asked him whether the king cake here was good since we had never had one from Moeller's, and he told my husband that he was from New Orleans and that Moeller's king cake was the best that he had ever tasted in town. Wow! *Grinning Face With Star Eyes* No doubt, Moeller's King Cake is good; the strawberry preserves and cream cheese filling is light and not too sweet, the icing is not dry or hard, sweetness is just right and not overpowering, and the dough is not greasy at all. It has come with a nice Mardi Gras fun pack including the throw beads, a mask, a chocolate coin and a plastic baby. However, Moeller's king cake is not the best that I've had *tsk tsk tsk* In my opinion, it sure is better than Whole Foods' and la Madeleine's but perhaps not as good and not as rich in flavor as the competitor Acadian Bakers'

Yelp
Horrible experience. I placed a cake order in advance and gave the employee precise details on how I wanted the cake to look. I even emailed two pictures so they could see exactly what I wanted. I asked for an ombré cake and the associate assured me that it was doable. The cake that was made did not have an ombré effect it had 3 colored stripes. It was ugly. I asked if they can fix the cake by blending the icing colors together. They told me that it wouldn't be possible that they would have to completely remake the cake. At one point the baker was putting the blame on me saying that that's exactly what I asked for. I asked them to just scrape the icing off. It looked like a naked cake by this point. But way better than what it did before. I ended up paying 74 dollars for the ugly cake. But I was hopeful that the cake itself tasted amazing. NOPE. The devils food and white cake were extremely dry and crumbly. I'm honestly blown away by how many positive reviews this bakery has. There's no way that all of those reviews are real. Out of all the employees, there was only one gentleman that was willing to help me figure out my cake situation. The original employee who set up my cake order, Instead of owning up to her mistakes, she hid in the back and never came back out. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BAKERY AT ALL. 74 dollars wasted on a dry cake. Ridiculous. Now I'm having to order another cake from a different bakery (El Bolillo) and have a redo for my birthday. Moeller's needs to refund me for their mistakes.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the worst place to get a cake. We ordered a cake for my 80th birthday. When we arrived to pick up the cake, it was not even like the picture or the 2 tiered cake we ordered for $60.00. Then when they decided they could fix the cake, like it was supposed to be they said it was going to be $125.00. Fine, I said because the party was in 3hrs. Then once we served the cake, it was so dry, and nasty could not even take the chocolate or then icing even. I will never order from this place again, and we have been going here for over 20yrs. We will be calling, the manger in the morning to get our money back. So disgusted and disappointed.

Jonathan W.

Yelp
It's really rare for me to give a one-star review, but this place earned it. I ordered an 8 inch Italian Creme cake for my mother-in-law's birthday over the phone. When I got there I searched the tables for pickup and didn't find the cake. I was ignored for a while until someone decided to see what I wanted. I told them I was supposed to be picking up an 8 inch Italian Creme cake. After standing there for a while, I was told they couldn't find it but they could fix me up. So I said okay. They gave me a cake and it looked okay and I got charged for an Italian Creme cake. At the birthday party, it turned out that it was a spice cake (like I couldn't tell the difference). The cake was dry, the icing was very brittle, and while my MIL said she liked it, she insisted we take the rest of the cake with us when we left. The cake is going to the opossum that lives in the backyard. I should have read the reviews.

Gil G.

Yelp
Great service , delicious cake all is always great at Moeller's. The quality of the cake is totally unmatched. Thank you Moeller's for making a special day extra special

Tom C.

Yelp
I bought a chocolate pie on Friday. First of all, they are not full size pies, but considerably smaller. Price was $20 which would have been ok, except the pie was like something you'd get at a grocery store. The chocolate was not dark enough-milky, and the crust to me was not even a crust. I don't know what it was. I'm sure they buy these. I know they have been there for 100 years, but really what does that even matter when they turn out products like this. I do like to go there, but will never buy a pie again.
google avatar

Cindy S.

Yelp
Moeller's has been around for a really long time from what I understand. I called recently to place an order for a lemon chiffon cake (my absolute favorite from here!) and was pleasantly surprised to find that they can get one of these babies baked for you with less than 2 hours' notice. Amazing. The bakery itself isn't huge and looks like it could use a facelift but is cozy and welcoming. The selection they had on hand the day I went was sizable. I can't wait to return and try the petit fours and carrot cake!
google avatar

Emma B.

Yelp
We had an excellent experience with Moeller's. After helping a friend out of a bad situation, we wanted to celebrate a full year of their 'freedom', and Moeller's pulled through with an excellent carrot cake. The cream cheese frosting wasn't greasy or sickly-sweet, and the cake itself was moist, delicious, and (matching our friend's preference) didn't include raisins. The only real problem we had was that while a cake had been reserved for us at the time we asked, the message we asked for had not been iced on it when we came to pick it up. Thankfully we weren't in any hurry - but it was a little inconvenient to stand around for 10 minutes while they were completing the work. Perhaps a miscommunication happened somewhere along the line. At $30 for an 8-inch, Moeller's wasn't our cheapest option, but for an everyday cake that's 'off the shelf', the quality was very good and definitely a cut above any grocery store cake. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it, and we're looking forward to our next celebration - an excuse to buy another!

Yelp
Always worth my "cheat meal" LOL! Service is always good and the desserts are mouthwatering!
google avatar

Beth B.

Yelp
They make awesome cakes. Petit fours too and lots of other treats! They are very fast to respond on FB messenger ( I believe they are working on their website- this place is charmingly old school). Great service. I bought petit fours for my daughter's 6th Birthday Tea Party- so adorable. I bought a fresh strawberry sheet cake for her 10th and Today I picked up this one for her 13th that I custom designed. Fresh strawberry cake. So delicious! Thanks Moeller's !
google avatar

Caitlyn T.

Yelp
Moeller's saved the day! Another bakery messed up my dad's birthday cake and Moeller's was able to have a replacement one ready day of! Not only was it the correct cake (Italian cream), it looked beautiful and tasted amazing!! The service was also amazing and I was waiting for the cake to be boxed, they gave me a Petit Four to try which was also very good! I got a six pack of the cinnamon rolls without raisins cause I'm a sucker for sweets and WOW! Don't sleep on the cinnamon rolls, they're AMAZING! All around great service and even better sweets!
google avatar

Joyce K.

Yelp
This was my first time ordering items from this bakery, I had heard it was good but never made the time to check it out. I wanted some nice sweets for my husbands birthday and yesterday just happened to be the last day they were open (before closing indefinitely until coronavirus is through). We got the apple tea ring, some petit fours, and a lemon meringue pie. The apple tea ring is amazing, each segment is full of delicious apple filling. The lemon meringue pie is the right amount of tartness. The petit fours are incredibly soft and moist. Everything was a hit. I hope they are able to open again soon.
google avatar

Sammy B.

Yelp
Very kind service, the girl had no problem having to explain to my family and I what most of there beautiful creations were. The food is delightful every recipe perfectly done and I love how you can actually taste each ingredient. These are most of the little treats I picked out and everyone of them surprised me. Highly recommend!!
google avatar

Bradley R.

Yelp
Everything we tried was delicious - and we tried way too much. I have never tasted a Petit Four (tiny 2 bite cake) better than those made here. If you only stop by for this reason you will NOT be disappointed! Their iced Christmas cookies were better than big store bakery offerings and beat all the other bakeries around by far. The sugar cookie is not super hard and the icing tastes like butter cream, but is more sturdy. I'm sure I am not describing either very well, so you will have to go try for yourself - you won't regret it! (Big fan of their gingerbread as well).
google avatar

David N.

Yelp
Wikipedia's definition: A petit four: is a small cake generally eaten at the end of a meal or served as part of dessert. The name is from the French petit four, meaning "small oven". David's definition: A petit four: a small piece of heavenly goodness!!! With the rise of these trendy cupcake places it's nice to have a classic bakery still around. These little pieces of cake will cost ya about 2 bucks a piece but they are absolutely the best thing ever. The employees are as sweet as the items they sell. I came in here looking lost and confused, so asked what's popular. She said the petit fours, I had no idea what that was so she said here I'll let you sample one. After one bite my eyes lit up! I want to eat the whole tray! Their cakes are about 10-20 bucks and if their petit fours are any indication of their quality this is the only place I'll be buying from.

Yelp
Moeller's Bakery is Delicious! I regularly drive from Sugar Land just to go there. It's the only place that my family gets their birthday and other special occasion cakes from!! Highlights: petit fours are perfect two bite cakes, the gingerbread men are completely addictive, the lemon chiffon cake is light and refreshing, the orange rolls are a great breakfast treat, the dinosaur cookies (sugar cookies) are a kid's favorite, the coconut cake is my father's favorite, the cheese straws are extremely popular... other things to try: the cupcakes, molasses cookies, any of their cakes, Italian cream cake, carrot cake, fruit filled tarts... Can you tell that the place is the best? It's located next to Palace Lanes bowling. There is limited parking in front of the bakery, but many people just park in the palace lanes lot and walk over. Make sure to call ahead and pre-order cakes so you get exactly what you want. Closed Sundays!

Yelp
Ordered mince pie , it was an apple pie with maybe 2 spoon of mince , never again, and for 20 dollars I'll make sure all my circle know about that

Yelp
I've passed this bakery many times but never stopped. My 89 year old mom said she had a taste for a slice of lemon meringue pie. On our way from the doctor's we stopped and went inside but unfortunately they only make lemon meringue on the weekend. They did have apple and pecan and we purchased the apple pie. It was simply delicious. That crust is to die for with that sugary topping. I'm waiting for the weekend to return for the lemon meringue pie!!

Yelp
We have been going here since 1982! They baked our wedding cake, and our daughter's. We love every thing here! Carol is the best. I hope they are in business the next 90 years!

Yelp
Moeller's did a fantastic job on cupcakes and petit fours for my sister's baby shower. There ended up being a lot of back and forth with the woman who helped me but she was extremely patient and kind, I wish I could remember her name. When I picked the desserts up I was pleasantly surprised at how accurate they were to the picture I had sent in and also impressed at how delicious they were. I would definitely recommend Moeller's to anyone who just has a sweet tooth to someone who is hosting.
