Northern Mexican fare & cocktails served in a chic, lively setting with multiple TVs.
"What To Expect: Moe’s in River North calls itself a Mexican restaurant, but it’s actually just a large bar that’s only open Thursday-Saturday nights. There are TVs, big booths, lots of tables, and a massive bar—perfect to host all 100 members of your alumni club until the furniture is cleared away and the place turns into a club. What’s Up With The Food: It costs $13 for quesadillas that are like grocery-store tortillas microwaved with a slab of congealed cheese in the middle. But after enough margaritas, you won’t mind taking advantage of the $4 taco special even if the chicken tinga tastes freezer-burned. Verdict: The music is good and the crowd is lively, so come here for a decent Happy Hour with just-fine drinks. But if you decide to stick around later in the night, when 2005’s Top 40 hits turn into Reggaeton, just subsist on guac and chips." - veda kilaru, adrian kane
"The food at Moe’s Cantina is about as mediocre-to-bad as you’d expect from a multi-level bar in River North (with a sister location in Wrigleyville) only open Thursday-Saturday nights. But you’re coming here for just-fine Happy Hour drinks, not amazing Mexican food. Although, after enough overly sour margaritas, you won’t mind taking advantage of the $4 taco special even if the chicken tinga tastes freezer-burned. There are TVs, big booths, lots of tables, and a massive bar—perfect to house all 100 members of your alumni club until the furniture is cleared away, the music changes from Top 40s hits circa 2005 to Reggaeton, and a much younger crowd takes over." - Veda Kilaru
"Let’s Talk Womxn, a collective of hospitality entrepreneurs, will celebrate the beginning of Women’s History Month with the Let’s Talk & Celebrate Gold Glamour Gourmet event on Thursday, March 2 at Moe’s Cantina. The event will feature 35 tasting stations, cocktails, a drag show, DJ sets, and dancing. Tickets are $125 for VIP and $95 for general admission." - Naomi Waxman
"The Illinois Restaurant Association’s Sam Toia saw the mayor the same day he made the announcement. They were gathered at Moe’s Cantina in River North." - Ashok Selvam
