"This vibrant River North spot is named in honor of the capital city of Somalia. Mogadishu is known for its hearty portions, and happy hour deals, so bargain hunters should be thrilled. Of note is the lamb shank, which is seasoned in special spices and accompanied by fresh vegetables and rice or pasta. It’s only served between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m." - Audarshia Townsend

Fabulous lamb shank tender succulent eith lentils, jasmine rice, and spiced vegetables. The fried samosa resembling pastry and sweetish fried dough are ok, no longer crispy if for take out.

It was nice to experience a different cuisine and culture. It looked like everyone who hangs out here were really close and are regulars. The food is served like cafeteria style so it wasn't as fresh as I was hoping for since all the other reviews talked greatly about the food. The chicken itself was very dry and did need to be seasoned more. I wasn't impressed with the lamb shank it looked like it was boiled so it made it unpleasant to eat. With that being said the lamb shank was bland. I did think the rice, veggies, and the split peas were tasty. The samosas did not have any crunch to them but I did think the filling was good. The highlight of the dinner was actually the black tea, it had so much flavor and warmth I could drink that every day.

“Somali beeen weey sheegta laakin been maku maah maahdo” is a famous Somali proverb which means Somalis may lie but they never lie with proverbs. - The crepe/bread with honey was great. I was the only gringo in the place with lots of Somali chatter, and they made me feel welcome. The ambiance is as real as it gets.

We shared a large platter for three, which had fish, chicken, and lamb. Absolutely delicious. Super friendly service. The place got packed with locals at 6pm on Wednesday. It was pretty awesome.

I ordered th chicken to go and it was great. The rice was moist and I also had veggies on the side. The chicken was very tender as well and extra tasty. Will come back and recommend especially considering the portion size and pricing.

The food was really great. We wanted the lamb shank but there wasn’t any so we tried the goat which was great! The menu is awesome and very affordable- $15. The food pictured served two people and we were really full. The tea was amazing for $1! The sitting is small so ideal for two people to dine in but not for large crowds.
