The Biggest Los Angeles Restaurant Openings in June 2025 | Eater LA

"A 7,000-square-foot, 500-person capacity concert venue, lounge, and restaurant that opened May 31 in Yucca Valley, featuring a sustainable, locally sourced menu led by former Workshop Kitchen and Bar chef de cuisine Beren Ekine-Huett. The 125-person capacity restaurant serves twists on classics such as lamb meatballs with chimichurri, steak frites, and a smoked date sticky toffee pudding, while the bar applies the same local/sustainable approach to cocktails like the gin-forward Wildflower Sour. The room blends 1970s glam with natural desert tones and complementary Western art." - Mona Holmes

Mojave Gold Is a Swanky New Restaurant and Music Venue in Yucca Valley | Eater LA

"Opened on May 31 in Yucca Valley just north of Palm Springs, this 7,000-square-foot music venue, restaurant and bar was founded by locals and a regional boutique-hotel group to give the Morongo Basin an elevated yet affordable dining-and-music destination. The space seats 125 in a formal dining room and accommodates up to 500 for concerts; reclaimed wood from the Hollywood Bowl (including chairs with original seat numbers) is integrated throughout, and the design blends 1970s glam—disco balls and gold-plated vinyl ceilings—with desert tones, snake wallpaper, velvet curtains and an outdoor lounge with a fireplace. Former Workshop Kitchen and Bar chef de cuisine Beren Ekine-Huett leads a sustainable, locally sourced, zero-waste–oriented kitchen offering starters such as pub cheese and pretzels, lamb meatballs with chimichurri, grilled cabbage with smoked Gouda fondue, bacon-wrapped dates and a cactus citrus ceviche; mains include pan-seared salmon with lemon-butter sauce, steak frites, a grass-fed burger, eggplant lasagna and Jidori chicken chermoula, with desserts like a smoked date sticky toffee pudding, seasonal sorbets and citrus olive-oil cake. A full bar pours inventive cocktails (the Wildflower Sour and a mezcal-based namesake drink with lemon, chile-honey, gold flecks and Velvet Falernum are highlighted) and a crafted nonalcoholic menu (including the Prickly Pop) rounds out the beverage program. The venue plans to add brunch and lunch, serves late-night bites after shows, and has booking already in motion." - Mona Holmes

New venue & restaurant in town, lfg!!! Plenty of parking, handicap spots directly in front of the establishment. We where greeted by a very friendly host, who sat us. Our waiter was excellent extremely friendly & knowledgeable about all aspects of the menu, bar, venue & town.... great job to the staff, always nice to see everyone bringing their A game on the grand opening month. The bartender made us a mocktail and a tequila cocktail with gold flakes, solid...We ordered a few apps, dates, chicken, meatballs, potatoes cakes, pickles , food was good. New opening are always tuff, so always expect a few bumps, at Mojave gold, from the food to the artwork on the wall, this is a great addition to our small tour in the desert. The venue next door to the restaurant is awesome as well as the outside patio. The owners had a free double feature bands going on. The bands were local & the music was great. Beautiful decor, cool vibes, good food, great staff.... we shall return.... ty

This place is a whole vibe. The food? Immaculate. Every bite was seasoned with love and possibly a little magic. The staff? Warm, welcoming, and genuinely happy to be there (which says a lot). Was greeted by the owner when walking in, it started a great experience. ..the decor? Chef’s kiss — stylish without trying too hard. It’s rare to find a spot that nails all three, but they did it effortlessly. 10/10 recommend. Can’t wait to visit here again..

Stopped in for a drink and stayed for dinner! We happened to be there for Golden Hour. Sat at the bar and really enjoyed the vibes. I had the burger and it was delicious! Perfectly cooked and comes with really crisp golden fries. My wife had the Mojave chopped salad and could not say enough good things about it. Some great options for vegetarians. Kim was kind enough to give us a tour of the live music area and patio. What a fabulous addition to the high desert!

So excited to check out the newest restaurant in town. I love all the small details and design. Perfect date night spot, especially if you’re feeling fancy. Quality food and cocktails, I wish I had room for desert. Friendly team and great service. Can’t wait to come back to check out a show and try more of the menu.

Mojave Gold is a stunning new addition to the high desert — a perfect blend of elevated dining, craft cocktails, and live music. We were lucky enough to attend opening night and were blown away by every detail. The food was exceptional, fresh, bold, and beautifully plated. You can tell real thought and care went into the menu. Not just “good for a music venue” it’s genuinely great food, period. The cocktails were just as impressive. Inventive, well-balanced, and made with top-quality ingredients. The bartenders clearly know their craft, and every drink we tried was a hit. The design of the space is stunning, modern desert vibes with a cozy, artistic feel. It’s stylish but not stuffy, making it the perfect spot to eat, drink, and hang. To top it off, McCabe and Mr. Milagro delivered an amazing live set that brought the whole room to life. The sound was crisp, the energy was high, and the music made the night unforgettable. Mojave Gold is more than a restaurant — it’s a full experience. We can’t wait to go back.

Being a vegetarian, most restaurants do not have a lot of options. But even in this small town, they still have great vegetarian vegan and gluten-free options. And the drinks were great.

Delicious dishes, we had the little gems salad, pork chops, gold burger, and chermoula chicken and all were delicious! The mocktails were great too!! Service was friendly and attentive, and decor was classy and fun.

Mojave Gold was a fun night! Great food, great cocktails and stellar decor! Pricing was very reasonable for the quality and quantity. Servers were very professional and well trained. Definitely stop in - you won’t be disappointed! The lamb meatballs were very yummy!

Yelp
My husband and I went to Mojave Gold for a date night. Classiest place I've been in Yucca Valley. Great romantic vibes. Awesome Mixology. We loved the food we ordered. The service was wonderful as well! We will be back!

Yelp
It's difficult to pin the best part of the experience on any one thing, but the vibe in general really seals the deal. We're high desert residents and I never thought a high end, hip, yet casually rock n roll dining experience like this would come to the area. The music venue is great, the lounge areas are great and the dining areas are... great too! We all loved the food and the date pudding was sort of the highlight on top of a pretty excellent overall experience. Will definitely be going again soon!

Yelp
Wow! Wow! Wow! This place is amazing! It's like 3 sick venues in one. Gorgeous bar, fabulous restaurant, and amazing live event venue. I hadn't been here during the last 3 incarnations of this space since it was RibCo. Did I say Wow?! And better than the cool concept and awesome design, I had questions on Yelp and during the Rez process regarding dinner times and show, and guess who responded?! The owners! (I didn't know that at the time) Greg and Cooper responded online and treated me and my friends like VIP (and we didn't know these two previously) I ordered the cactus ceviche because that's a true test right? Awesome!

Yelp
We were very excited about this restaurant coming to the desert area. The interior is interesting with a very cool, hip vibe. I am from Los Angeles and used to higher price, restaurants. The small bite portion of the menu is exactly that- and seemed pricey the very small portion. Dinner came to our party sporadically.. In an interval of about five minutes finally everyone had been served. Two folks in our party got the burger, which was served cold. French fries were very good. I got the veggie burger. The burger had a very weird consistency and tasted more like a vegetable pudding, which sort of drooled onto my plate as I ate it. Had a side portion of broccolini which was cooked well but unfortunately lost in sauce. Hoping this is just wrinkles for a new restaurant. I might give them another try in a few months. Really disappointing.

Yelp
Glamorous beautiful restaurant and event space. Really like the retro + sleek details and design. Beautiful job on all of it. Looking forward to shows here in the future. We enjoyed dinner. Shared just a few things. All was fine, nothing blew my mind or dazzled my tastebuds. I'd definitely go back for dinner to try more menu items. Service was a bit off, funny. Didn't deter much from our fun evening. Overall it's a wonderful addition to the high dez rotation.

Yelp
Got a chance to check out Mojave Gold and while it's apparent that they recently opened and are still working out some kinks it is also clear that they have high expectations for themselves and the food is delicious! We made reservations just in case it was busy so we arrived and were sat right away. Where things could be better is the intensity of the staff. They sort of hang around (and mind you, the place is pretty small so tables and the moving staff are close together) when there's nothing for them to be doing. So that was a little awkward in such a small space. Drinks took a pretty long time to come (compared to other bar style places). But I think this is something they're probably working out. Another ding on the bar was my cocktail (the grapefruit tequila drink) was room temperature at best when it arrived. Almost like there was no nice in the shaker while being mixed. BUT after the ice in the glass melted and it chilled down it was really good. The hot honey and salt rim was a nice touch. On the food... my boyfriend got the steak frites and I got the pork chop. Both were cooked perfectly! My pork chop was SO tender (often an issue at a lot of places) and the steak was also tender and perfectly cooked (ordered medium rare). The fries with the steak frites were delicious! And they looked much better than the thick cut fries that are featured in some of the photos here. The mashed potatoes were seasoned so well and the broccoli was cooked perfectly (still had a good crunch). Overall, despite their bar related challenges and slightly awkward standing staff lol, I'd highly recommend checking it out. I'll be back for the pork chop (and to change this review to 5 stars after trying the bar again) soon!

Yelp
Omg! This place has the best pork chop in town! Steak was tender & delish! Salmon was awesome! Atmosphere on point! Staff was friendly! Brooklyn even came to our table & introduced herself! Of course dessert was amazing! We're coming back!

Yelp
Town first time here ! Beautiful atmosphere. We tried Pork chop and gem salad and it's excellent. Date pudding perfect! We recommend!

Yelp
This is a lovely place to dine at 29 palms and definitely a hidden gem! About 10 minutes drive from Joshua tree the place is easy to find . We were seated immediately, and despite of being what seems like a date night restaurant, they were very family friendly ( we had a 2 yr old) . The food was delicious! I would specifically recommend the cactus ceviche which was beautifully flavorful. The cocktails were well balanced and dessert was delicious as well . Seldom do you find all the flavors spot on across all the dishes you ordered!

Yelp
Not just good for Yucca, one of the best fine dining meals we've ever had. We've been pretty fortunate to experience a good number of truly next level meals in cities like LA, SD, SF, Monterey, Palm Springs, and Vegas. I've even dined at incredible places and enjoyed home cooked European bistro food in Belgium, France, and London. This place is right on par with the very best. Absolutely no notes, discerning foodie approved! Maybe just the hope to see more variety added to the menu in future, and maybe entree options that don't include wheat or starches as the side, or just offer a few different sides to choose from for the entrees, with more green veg, squash, even fruit, etc available. We tried it out last Friday evening on my husband's bday, after seeing the menu and hearing good things. We tried the stuffed dates, cheesy cabbage, and steak tartare tapas, for entree he got the steak frites, and I got the seared salmon. I also tried the beautiful Rose Gold Fizz cocktail. Every single thing is literally bursting with incredible flavor, not even exaggerating a little. The tartare with sourdough was especially a standout, my husband hadn't tried it before but is now a huge fan, and I loved the flavor twist on the traditional of making it with strawberries and fermented egg yolk! Absolutely blown away by everything. Blown away that we ate a meal like that in Yucca as well. The closest thing we've had is La Copine, and we do love them, but I'm disabled, and with it being a farther out drive and not taking reservations, it's just difficult. The space and vibe is really cool/welcoming too, love the way they've decorated, everyone seemed happy and friendly, and we look forward to hopefully enjoying live music here sometime as well! Please please please let this place stay in business forever!!! Go support them if you possibly can! We are thrilled to no longer need to drive down the hill to celebrate special occasions!

Yelp
I CANNOT say enough good things about this place. My husband and I went for opening weekend and the food, service, and atmosphere was amazing! We went again tonight for dinner and brought our family and it was an awesome time. The food is amazing and our server was great! It's a short walk from our house and we are excited for a great place for future date nights!

Molly B.

Yelp
Atmosphere, drinks, food all amazing! Get your disco vibe on. A vinyl record cover reveals the gustatory delights-- Hang out at the bar for some custom cocktails, dine in elegance for a meal that exceeds all expectations. Personally I like the tofu Cesar salad- but if greens ain't your thing, they have pork chops to chicken... enjoy.

Yelp
This place is a must try if you're in the Yucca Valley area. The bacon wrapped dates were incredible, as were the steak frites and the pork chop. The ambiance is excellent and the music is really good. The service is excellent as well. We will be back!

Yelp
Great vibe, beautiful decor, tasty cocktails, good music at the right volume, great service and most of all... stellar food. We've lived in Joshua Tree for 6 months and let's be honest, the food options are very limited. Especially for a nice meal out. It's a very interesting modern Mediterranean menu. This is a great place for a date night or celebration. Lamb meatballs were amazing, kale salad was baller, the broccolini was pretty good, and the lasagne was a unique recipe and was yummy but a little heavy on the bechamel. BlackBerry smash cocktail was delish. Overall we are stoked this place came to town, and you should def check it out. It's not cheap but it's worth every penny, given the quality and overall experience.

Ernie V.

Yelp
What a fun and classy place! Yucca Valley needed this! From the service, the food and the ambiance!! 10 stars!! My wife got to see some friends from her high school years!! Which was fun to see her reaction when she saw them from across the restaurant!!! We will be back!!

Angelina Q.

Yelp
amazing food, a little expensive but really awesome new addition for people who care about good quality food. love love love so many options for veg/vegan people too

Yelp
My son and grandson were visiting and stopped for an early lunch at this lovely restaraunt. Upon entering the restaraunt we were greeted by the owner who couldn't have been more welcoming. We were seated in the bar area. Such a beautiful setting. I especially liked the large windows that provided natural lighting. We ordered the sandwich combo, very fresh and tasty. Our server Stephanie was great and very friendly. All in all a great experience, even my teenage grandson was impressed.

Stacy W.

Yelp
Lunch is now being served and it was delicious. I had the turkey and my friend had the roast beef. Both were served on their in house focaccia bread which was amazing. Had the potato and pasta salad on the side both had very unique flavors. Bartender was very nice. Looking forward to next time!

Yelp
A fine experience but the service was slow and chicken dry. The tofu dip was yummy though.

Yelp
Been looking forward to seeing someone open up a new restaurant in the old Awe Bar/Gadi's building. It's a fantastic space! There's definitely a clientele these days for a high end bar/restaurant in town. Just look at La Copine, they are crushing it. We need more of that!! First impressions.. they've put a lot of work into the decor and got it looking very glitzy and glamorous. The tables and bar area look awesome. As someone that works in the music business, travels the world, and has been lucky enough to eat in a lot of various places (from dreadful to world class), I have a few suggestions (and I only mention them because I so so want Mojave Gold to succeed. And hopefully it will lead to a bunch more nicer restaurants in town). Please please please. So for what it's worth... 1. The menus in album covers... it's kinda cute and fun, but completely ridiculous and unnecessary. The menus themselves look great, they have the cool vinyl logo in the middle, and look classy. Maybe make them round so they resemble a record, but I say just keep them square. They really do look fine as they are. Plus the poor hostess then doesn't have to walk around with an armful of albums, which probably amounts to maybe 10 menus. 2. If you're going to have vinyl and music as your theme, then make it a feature and play some classic rock/pop music in the background, not generic muzak. 3. The wait staff, although friendly and polite, appeared slightly awkward and inexperienced. I mean, you walk into this swanky setting, get given an album with a hidden menu inside, sit at a fancy table with gold silverware... it's all going great so far... then you get a server that's not quite up to par. Very friendly, and I don't mean to be mean, but there's this big build up, then waaah waaah.. Shame. Just a bit more training needed I guess. You're only as good as your weakest link. 4. The food. It's pretty good. So glad to finally have a place in town that's not catering to the lowest common denominator. How many places do we have to have that serve burgers and fries? Jeesh, enough already! So I love that they have a varied original menu. Keep it up!! Although.. I think the prices are a bit steep for the quality. Not that it's bad, it's actually very good, but just not quite at that price range (yet). Either step it up a notch with the quality, or reduce the prices. Personally, I'd rather have the food be outstanding and pay accordingly. So all in all, I actually love that we have Mojave Gold in town. I want it to be a huge success. It's early days, but I just feel there's quite a bit of work to be done. Focus on the right things. Look at Copper Room and La Copine. They don't need gimmicks and frills, they do what they do and they do it insanely well. I loved Awe Bar when it very first opened, their service was superb. But unfortunately it took a bit of a nosedive not long after, and that was that. I hope Mojave Gold doesn't go the same way. I will be back and my fingers will be crossed. Yucca Valley deserves it.

Yelp
The service is impeccable, the food is superb, and the physical plant is beautiful. The salads we had were incredible, and my steak was as good as you could get anywhere, and better than almost anywhere. All around grand food adventure - as was my mezcal-based cocktail.

Yelp
Yucca Valley is not known for its stellar restaurants, something locals have come to accept. Mojave Gold's online presence is much better than the in person experience. Parking is a distance from the restaurant in a dirt lot that has the potential for problems. The layout of the restaurant is a little strange with a retro disco motif. We were seated in a dining room between a separate bar/dance area where live entertainment apparently takes place. The tables are close together with a long bench seating on one side and a chair on the other. The hostess asked who's birthday were we celebrating, wished me a happy birthday and that was the last we heard of it. It became obvious to myself and guest that the staff needed some basic training. The female server approached without introducing herself asking if we would like drinks from the bar. When we declined, she asked if we were ready to order or if we needed more time with the menu. Since we had just been seated, we asked for a little more time. We discovered the server's name was Angie, after asking her. We're vegan, and there was exactly two options: a veggie burger and charred cauliflower. The burger came with fries so we asked the server whether the fries were fried in an isolated vegan fry station and what oil was used. She said she would ask the chef. The meals were served before we discovered the fries were fried in petroleum based canola oil. The charred cauliflower was a 1/4 cauliflower, stalk and all. It was actually tasty but small portion for the price. The veggie burger was also pretty good, but again small in size dwarfed by the large portion of fries. The server, Angie, was not at all attentive, did not know the menu, and gave me attitude for asking questions . We had high hopes for the new restaurant but was once again disappointed with the par for the course experience for Yucca Valley.

Yelp
Hands down the coolest spot to go out in our beautiful desert. The ambiance was perfect, great lighting, eclectic decor, friendly staff, and THEY HAVE VEGAN OPTIONS!!! Take it from a local, you won't find a better spot along the 62 for a night out. Plenty of places to sit and chat if you're on a date, live music (away from the bar so you can hear each other when you're chatting), indoor and outdoor areas to hang, and the food and drink were top notch. My family and I are soooooo stoked to have Mojave Gold in the neighborhood. I had a chance to chat with the owner over the phone and he was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We have a new favorite spot, see ya there!!!

Chris N.

Yelp
Finally made it to Mojave Gold and it did not disappoint! I had the pork chop and my wife had the gem salad and Chicken Chamoule. Both meals were fantastic! I'm mind blown on the flavors and how each bite you found a new flavor! Will and Kim were our servers! They both were fantastic and very knowledgeable about the meals and ingredients. We ordered 2 desserts, the citrus olive oil cake and the sticky toffee pudding!! MIND BLOWN!! Amazing experience! Can't wait to go back to get something different and be mind blown again! Thank you for the spectacular meal and service!! Was so consumed with the meal I forgot to grab a couple photos!

Yelp
Visiting from out of town and happened to pass this place and decided to give it a try. 10/10!! Drinks, food and service were amazing. If you're looking for a nice dinner, good vibes and some legit food. Check it out. They also have live music. We didn't stay for that, as we hadn't planned for it, but the crowd showing up as we were leaving looked like a fun time.

Cindi A.

Yelp
Had an amazing experience at our new restaurant on Tuesday eve! Yay! Congratulations to the owners and staff. Food was soooo delicious. And they have upped that atmosphere as well!

Faith B.

Yelp
Unfortunately the food was very disappointing. We waited 45 mins just for a burger and fries when it was only us and another table that had already gotten their food. For how long it took, my burger was undercooked and super salty. I've had better burgers at Carl's Jr. Not to mention, the menu is a little difficult. It's very unfortunate because the ambiance of the restaurant is amazing but the food can't compare. Will not be coming back.

Catherine M.

Yelp
Great place for a date night! The service, food, and drinks were delicious. We left full and got the steak frites, chicken, and mac and cheese.

Roy D.

Yelp
The restaurant just opened the end of May 2025. Therefore I have to say that they are starting out and probably working out the bugs......but We went to their 6pm Happy Hour. I ordered wine and a bar dish of corn which I assumed was some type of cooked or prepared dish. What I got was was a very tiny (and I do mean tiny) dish of what tasted like and looked like Cracker Jacks. It was vastly over priced also!!!! The price of two glasses of wine hardly was priced for Happy Hour. It was over priced. We then went to a table for dinner. I ordered a hamburger and fries. The hamburger and fries three other members of our party were not impressed with the food portions and price. My partner husband ordered sorbet for desert. He got three minute scoops (very tiny). The portion was small, but the price was not! Lastly, we were seated at a table next the front window. As the sun began to set it glared through the window into our eyes. I asked if they could close the blinds. we were told that there were no cover for the window! I first experience with the restraint, sadly, will be our last. My friends with me also agreed that they would not be back. We were hoping for a much better and less costly experience.

Jenna A.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I just moved into the area and decided to try this restaurant and it was an all around bad experience. We ordered potato cakes $18 and all we got was 2 flavorless potato slices but, on top of that my boyfriend ordered chicken that was flavorless, dry and tasted like particle board. He asked if it was microwaved because it was steaming hot but so dry and the only time that happens is when you microwave it or boil it. He took one bite and didn't touch the rest. I ordered a medium steak and frites and my steak was perfectly cooked medium rare with no flavor, no salt and no pepper so I asked for A1 sauce and he gave me a baffled look and said "we don't have A1 sauce" sir, invest in some because you're going to need it. After that the service from the bartender went down and the attitude went up. We even mentioned that the chicken wasn't good and he just offered more flavorless food. The bill was $120 we paid and tipped but the price is too high for not even having flavor. Before we finished our food we were ordering Togo food from Applebees. My suggestion to anyone that is thinking about dining there is just try an expensive appetizer before spending $120 and if it needs salt then consider weather or not you want to waste your money. The inside was nice, small but not too bad

Bettina M.

Yelp
What a gem in the desert. Food is next level and the drinks were also so good!!! The decor is cool with a 70's vibe. Our experience here was so nice and the service was exceptional. We will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Firstly - the decor! What an amazing makeover! So beautiful and plush. Nowhere else in the MB is as nice! Truly Yucca Valley has been blessed! Food was spot on also and imo fairly priced. I will definitely being going back. We have a new top spot in town!
