NYC’s New Restaurant Openings

"Mokafe, which has locations in Paterson, New Jersey and in Astoria, now has a third spot in Greenpoint. You can get Yemeni coffee here, as well as some sandwiches and pastries. The space looks like it could be useful for the Greenpoint WFH crowd." - will hartman

The pastries were delicious! The fully dipped chocolate croissants look so tempting but I went with the pistachio croissant which was still such a treat. Great interior decoration in the cafe as well. The one annoying thing is that they use the beepers to take orders so when it was busy, all i could hear was a constant beeping noise.

Love that this place is open late in the city. Came here after a show to grab some coffee and they had a fun selection of pistachio drinks and pastries. We ordered two drinks and both were good. The pastries looked good but we weren’t hungry enough to get any. Also love the wide space and seating.

You can just tell by the color of this STRAWBERRY MATCHA LATTE that it’s disgusting. No strawberry in sight. If you don’t know how to make a drink, don’t offer it on your menu. Tasted like straight up water and grass. To add insult to injury, there were cobwebs on my lid. When I showed it to the worker, instead of her apologizing and offering to remake the drink or change out the lid herself, she pointed to the wall where I can get a new lid myself. SAVE yourself the money and go somewhere else for your $7 overpriced latte.

Greenpoint tea and coffee shop. Not cheap. Not crazy. The drinks are really good. The croissants are really great. The service was friendly. Definitely try it out. ✅

IF I COULD GATE KEEP THIS PLACE I REALLY REALLY WOULD 😩!!! If you’ve read any of my previous reviews you know that I am a big fan of desserts, especially Turkish desserts and this place has completely stolen my sweet tooth. As one of the newer spots to this part of greenpoint, this shop is nice and quaint and perfect for a snack with your kids, lunch with a friend, or the perfect cheat day (my personal favorite lol). There is a nice shaded outdoor seating area out front, indoor seating with WiFi, and even a restroom. The menu is fair priced with a lot of unique options like the pistachio and Biscoff tres leches cake (everything biscoff they have is my fave) , Oreo croissants, Shi Adeni tea( HIGHLY RECOMMEND) , All the refreshers ( personal fav is the mango strawberry), Saba Yah (comes with honey) , and the mini combs (I tried this with their pistachio paste topping and It was amazing!!!!) , and lastly THE TIKTOK VIRAL KUNAFA CHOCOLATE BAR (pistachio chocolate bar)just to name a few, as this store has a variety of pastries, desserts, and beverages to choose from. All the staff here are great but Big shout out to Anna who works here during the week, and sets the tone for a really pleasant experience, as I’ve been here several times and she is always warm and inviting. She is also very knowledgeable about the menu, as mostly everything I’ve tried has been her recommendation ( I haven’t been let down yet , GO ANNA!!). This place is a 20/10 **TO THE CUSTOMER THAT LEFT A LOW RATING** I witnessed the incident that you outlined here on google(you’re an older gentleman, beige slacks and paid in cash that day. I was dining in the back) and I personally think it of low moral character and very disappointing to see you left that review and left out the part where the cashier apologetically admitted the system error and speedily rectified your price. As a business owner myself, I know all too well that mistakes happen. However the integrity of a business is evident in how they rectify their mistakes. In spite of that one half truth review, there are a plethora of positive remarks, And now this one, along with the many to come . Good luck Mokafe!!! And Welcome To Greenpoint!!!! **COOL MENTIONS** - They’re cold beverages cups are reusable (I have 4) -If you dine in they serve you on flatware (love this) -They have a rewards points system for your purchases (ask for a card) -Gluten Free & Vegetarian Options

Absolutely love this gem in Greenpoint! The coffee shop serves up some truly amazing refreshers—perfectly balanced and delightfully refreshing. Their sandwiches are equally fantastic, with fresh ingredients and inventive flavors that make every visit a treat. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff add to the overall experience, making it a must-visit spot for anyone in the area. Highly recommend for a casual meet-up or a relaxing break!

This place is amazing, the coffee is delicious, everything is clean, my favorite part is the service, the girl who works there definitely knows about coffee and has great customer service. Full recommended. I love Knafa croissant!! 🥐

The first thing I noticed was the comfortable and chill atmosphere. I automatically knew my experience with the food was about to be delightful. I heard about them through my family and decided to give it a try. 10’s across the board!

Yelp
I passed this place many times and finally decided to go. I had no idea it was a chain (never heard of it before). I got the cardamom latte and two pastries. The latte was very good. Small for the price, but very good. I got the Danish, which I loved. I got the kunafa croissant. I had no idea what kunafa is/was, but it looked interesting. It was fine, very rich though. All together, nice pastries. A nice place to grab a bougie latte. Not the cheapest place if you want bare bones coffee and a pastry, but a good choice if you want a fancier choice. Limited seating inside.

Yelp
Just want to preface by saying that competition is extremely fierce and tough in the Williamsburg/Greenpoint neighborhood. There's so many unique mom and pop great cafes and bakeries with a strong neighborhood camaraderie. I was really excited that Mokafe opened in Greenpoint since their location in Astoria is still a long trek for me from Greenpoint. I've been eyeing their kunafe chocolate all over social media and came here near opening around 8am on a weekend. I was disappointed in a few things sadly...the radio silent (cold) customer service, the lattes, and the croissants. The mocha and pistachio lattes were made with syrup (I'm not a fan of syrup with coffee as I can replicate this process at home and Starbucks uses syrups) and the croissants were extremely stale and felt a week old. The barista felt almost annoyed at our presence and didn't seem happy that we came in. I'd suggest only coming here for the kunafe chocolate. I hope they can improve their customer service since that's generally an easy fix. A place with a lot of potential - I hope they can improve so they can get good business in this neighborhood. It was an overall 2 star experience but I really like supporting local mom and pop businesses as well as putting them on the map, but this was a brutal $30 spent in really syrupy lattes and stale croissants.

Yelp
This is a cute cafe in Williamsburg! Despite being small it has some seating inside and outside! There are a lot of non caffeinated drinks to choose from - the mango strawberry refresher was very good - especially on a hot day! The pistachio latte was nice as well but didn't taste much different from a latte

Yelp
While strolling on Manhatten Avenuein Brooklyn, go figure, we stumbled on this little spot called Mokafe. It passed my smell test where the scents did not smell overpowering and synthetic. We decided to order the Chagaccino, the cold version... which was not sweet but.. I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was very refreshing not with the over powering sweet additives one might find in other establishments... We also ordered two Dubai Bears, one vanilla one chocolate. The vanilla tasted amazinly rich, which was devoured rather quickly, it's chocolate counterpart we are saving for later. We also ordered another item with orange shavings, cream and, Knafu chocolate - not unlike the famous Dubai chocolate bars - this was really tasty. I saw additional items I must try from the menu. This means I will revisit Mokafe's BK location again.

Yelp
I'm unsure about the bad reviews, but honestly I was having a really tough day today and Anna and Margarita at Mokafe turned it around. Anna, especially, was wonderful and kind. She helped me pick out what I wanted to drink offering suggestions. She made me a pistachio latte inside a cracking cup, probably the most expensive coffee I've ever had to be honest, but it was delicious. I also came for the knafa chocolate bar which was phenomenal. The ladies working in the front were great and there was also seating in the back which would be a nice place to sit and relax, but I was taking my offerings to go. I didn't try any of the pastries this time, but everything looked fresh. I'll be back!

Yelp
this cafe has some outdoor and indoor seating but is very limited! the viral kunafa chocolate was actually worth it and i highly recommend trying it! it's a bit sweet for me personally. the cracked chocolate iced latte was so fun to crack in the cup - thought the coffee was average but was a fun experience. the barista was very nice and helpful!

Yelp
Very clean convenient spot with an amazing menu! The staff's recommendation for the pistachio latte was perfect!
