Stumbled upon this cafe while walking down Astoria and it was so pretty. The green interior drew us in and compelled us to sit inside. The service was amazing and the staff was very, very nice. We ordered a regular coffee with cream, iced caramel latte, a butter croissant and a m&m cookie. The coffees were amazing and the croissant was so flaky and buttery, very tasty! The cookie unfortunately was to hard even though it was warmed, it was really hard to break apart and didn’t seem so fresh but overall we were happy with our experience and would go back!

Second time visiting. This place is very clean and ambience is very cozy and gorgeous. Staff are all super pleasant and accommodating. I had a relaxing and enjoyable breakfast consisting of the turkey and cheddar sandwich which was immaculate. It had arugula and had the perfect hint of sweetness. I could only finish half- great for the price although I hope they never raise it. I give it a 10 out of 10. Protein and greens for the win. Who could ask for more? Me because I needed something to wash it down. I sipped on the adeni tea which gave me exactly the comfort I needed. 9 out of 10 just because I grade teas harshly. I took the Yemeni sabaya home which was amazing. That got a 10 out of 10. Also the food preaentation was so cute. 10 out of 10. Thanks to the entire Mokafe team for the hospitality and scrumptious breakfast!

Got the knafeh croissant and hazelnut mocha. The croissant had a great filling and chocolate shell, chilled so that the chocolate stayed solid. The mocha was okay, didn't taste much hazelnut (and it cost $8). The interior was decorated very nicely and the bathroom was clean, but the floors were sticky. Overall, an aesthetic experience but quite pricey for the quality.

I’ve been to the Brooklyn location before and loved it there. So I decided to visit the Astoria location and Fatima was very welcoming and sweet. I got the mocha in the cracking cups which is my favorite and the croissants was sooo good. Would definitely recommend 😍.

Was not impressed by the drip coffee or the iced latte here. I thought the latte was overly sweet and tasted simply like chocolate milk. The interior design was very modern/upscale and the service was nice.

UPDATE: I’m back again for another review for the viral chocolate bar! And omg sooo good! I had a great conversation with kind staff! And I really enjoyed my experience yet again. I wish Google allowed more than one review because it’s just that good. I also got the lovely pistachio croissant and the beans! So happy with everything and loveeee this spot! So happy they are opening more locations in Times Square!! Everything is made fresh and is so good. They were so nice and informative about how things were made and the coffee origins. My husband loves pour over coffee so glad they had it as it’s surprisingly hard to find places that do around here. We also got some of their beans. I highly recommend the pistachio croissant and loved the Yemeni chai. Everything was delicious!!

Hidden gem in the heart of Astoria Blvd., the vibe was awesome, squeaky clean restroom, very nice seating and overall ambiance. The staff were very very friendly, Salma who took the order, Orcun and Sherif who prepped our drinks were all amazing and accommodating and patient as we had a tall order and changed a few things after placing it. Everything was on spot. They even waited for us to finish eating almost 30 minutes past their closing time with smiles on their faces still as we were leaving which is a rare sight in itself in NY.

The Adeni Latte was Insane! The vibes are awesome in here. Everything is a cream and green themed with a tree like vibe. The latte was pretty expensive but it was so good I 100% justified the price for it. Middle eastern themed drinks and baked goods. Staff was super friendly! Great place to come and work or read a book!

I was almost finished with it before I even remembered to take a photo. *they made it decaf for me and even gave me alternate milk. also their cups remind me of boba style cups which is fun.

I loved this place so much that I had to come back after two weeks -- this time with a friend too! I ordered an iced lavender latte with oat milk ($9) and went back to order a turkey and cheddar sandwich ($11) as a midwork pick me up. The latte was amazing. The lavender flavor was integrated incredibly well throughout the whole drink and it gave me the perfect amount of energy to get through my work tasks. Only downside was that it was a bit pricey, but that's the price you pay when you ask for alternative milk... The sandwich was delicious and flavorful. The arugula felt very fresh. Pleasantly unexpected was the honey and red pepper flakes that gave the sandwich a bit of sweetness and a bit of spice! As for the vibes: When I came in, the cafe was quite busy which was surprised me considering it was a Tuesday afternoon! Almost all the seats were taken up, but I was still about to grab an individual seat along the wall and sit my bag in the nook. Talk about smart design! When my friend joined me, we made our way to the quiet space in the back. It was well air conditioned, filled with outlets, and really blocked out all outside noise. Being in the quiet space allowed me to concentrate and be productive - more places should have this! Mokafe is just so beautifully designed to welcome anyone, whether you're popping in to chat with friends, read a book, or work from home. My favorite cafe so far in all of NYC!

Nice spacious Yemeni cafe. The tea and desserts here are pretty good and not too sweet. Staff are friendly and there are plenty of seats for enjoying some food or working. They have no problem with people staying for a long time. There is even a small outdoor area in the back.

Drove 45 minutes to this Mokafe twice in 4 days from Long Island- was definitely a hike but worth it. This review is solely on the 12 "viral" Dubai pistachio knafa chocolate bars that I purchased from here during those 2 trips. Thanks to Tik Tok & FB, smh. My daughter and I really wanted to try it once, and now she is obsessed with them. The pistachio cream combined with knafa inside tasted rich, crispy & creamy, and reminds me of Ferrero Rocher or Bueno but with pistachio instead of hazelnut. The staff are friendly, and the cafe itself looks very modern & nicely decorated. Besides the chocolate bars, they also have a variety of drinks (coffee, tea, refreshers, lattes), pastries, desserts, and sandwiches. Omg everything looked so good... Back to the chocolate bars- they make them every morning, and there's a white & milk chocolate option. When you pay with cash, there's a cash discount, and each bar comes out to $8.71. Overall, I think it's really good and lives up to the hype. Must try!

Eh. This place is shiny and new and nicely decorated but it feels super over priced for the things they offer. Just getting a plain croissant is more than 6 dollars and I know they aren't made from scratch bakery items. The dough tastes like it's premade and the price isn't wallet friendly. Plain Coffee is also pretty pricey. I tried their sabaya? Which is like a flat croissant brushed with honey... wasn't impressed for 8 bucks. Cashiers were all friendly and there's a bathroom here.

I've been to mokafe quite a few times already because I just love it here! The baristas are so nice and friendly and the decor is super cute! I've always enjoyed their drinks and desserts! This is a nice place to come to after having lunch or dinner or if you just want to hang out and chill. I will definitely visit again!

This cafe is super cute and has an amazinh assortment of pastries. Lots of seating is available, and they have the Dubai chocolates! They also have a cracking chocolate cup that you can get any iced drink in--I got an iced mocha and I will say the chocolate cup elevated the drink to a whole other level. Pricey, but worth every penny. The little chunks of chocolate on the latte add EVERYTHING! This place is a must visit

Ever had one of those "why didn't I find this place sooner?" moments? That was me when I stumbled upon Mokafe Coffee House while cafe hopping in Astoria with a friend. The modern interior decor felt like stepping into a trendy design magazine. If you're a student or remote worker, you'll love the abundance of outlets and the reliable WiFi--it's a study spot paradise. Even though I was too full to try anything (thanks to our previous cafe indulgence), we were drawn here by the positive reviews, and they didn't disappoint. There's also a bathroom available, which is always a plus. For a stylish and convenient place to study or work, I highly recommend Mokafe Coffee House.

Amazing! Delicious Yemeni coffee with special flavors like the pistachio latte and the cracking latte! The chocolate is also great we had white chocolate biscoff. Great aesthetic, clean bathroom. Worth the hype!!!

1st time here, the cashiers are friendly. We got: dark chocolate pistachio knafa, white chocolate biscoff knafa, tres leches cake, & coffee. I only tried the 1st item which was way too sweet. I didn't even taste the dark chocolate. Why is there white chocolate on it? I recommend using 65% cacao, to whoever made it. We should be able to taste the dark chocolate. Tasted like milk chocolate to me. The knafa filling was too sweet. My coworkers liked the items they got. The tres leches looked too sweet, so I'm glad I didn't try it.

My friend enjoyed an iced Shai Adeni, which she loved for its refreshing taste and quickly finished her delicious drink. As we wrapped up our evening, we couldn't resist taking home two TGTG bags, each filled with hot Shai Adeni, a flaky croissant, and the delightful Sabaya. The sabaya maintained its perfect flakiness, was heated for us, and was consumed with an extra drizzle of honey. In conclusion, Mokafe offers not only delicious beverages and treats but also a welcoming atmosphere and top-notch service. They have a variety of delicious looking desserts. They even have the viral Dubai chocolate which was absolutely worth the hype. The staff is super nice and the ambiance is great. It's the perfect spot for a coffee and dessert date or a stop to satisfy your sweet tooth.

We went on a very hot day so it was very refreshing to have a nice cold Matcha, it wasn't sweet so thats a great change from the usual coffee places that make it so sweet !! Note: they give you the matcha in this cup that you can close and take it to go, I even reused it the next few days!! We also order an almond croissant and strawberry 3 leches, I feel the 3 leches was great but could barely taste the strawberry flavor but definitely recommend it I would suggest to try their Almond croissant warm because its better for the texture!

Zaatar cream cheese is so yummy! I had the pleasure of visiting during my trip to nyc and I can definitely say that it's an easy go to. I got the salmon cream cheese sandwich with a caramel latte and it was delicious! The cream cheese was a little salty but still yummy! Coffee was creamy and delicious The service was super friendly and fast! The ambiance is easily instagramable! Aesthetically pleasant

Really cute spot in Little Egypt. Perfect for studying and chilling with a cup of coffee. I went for the drip coffee and tres leches cake. Total was about $14. I enjoyed the coffee and the cake (it is very sweet, fyi). In terms of the seating, it seemed there was ample space. My favorite part was the mini cubbies spaced between the tables. This is clever as the bar stools don't allow you to hold your handbags. Will come again!

I've heard tons of great things about Mokafe, and when I saw the featured on Righteous Eats, I knew I had to visit. I had the chance to make the trek to Little Egypt during their recent pre-Eid Festival hosted by Malikah. I was too thirsty for coffee, so I opted for a strawberry cucumber mint refresher ($7.28) and the very last slice of their honeycomb cake ($8.32). I really enjoyed the refresher and there was a lot of pulp so I knew everything was made with fresh ingredients. There wasn't a lot of cucumber in my drink so it tasted like a paler strawberry lemonade with extra mint. The honeycomb cake was really delicious, especially warmed up with honey drizzled atop. The dough was a little denser than I expected, so it is quite filling. The cafe space is gorgeous and inviting, and I loved the center bar with electrical outlets as well.

Beautiful coffee house in Astoria that is Yemeni and Palestinian owned. The vibes there are very chill with modern decor. It's spacious but it gets busy! I went on the weekend so it was to no surprise that it was busy. I got the sabayah bread (my favorite on any day) and the honey comb bread. Both so good. I never had sabayah drizzled in honey... but now that I have, I can see why it is needed/the norm. The honey comb bread is similar in taste to the sabayah but more like a loaf consistency rather than buttery layers. It is also filled with cheese. We tried the pistachio tart. I liked the pistachio filling but definitely too sweet for me to eat the entire thing. We definitely shared that with our family when we got back to the house. lol. So tiny but packed with so much flavor/sweetness. I regret not trying a croissant. They are huge and look soooo tasty. The coffee that I got was a maple oat latte. I was just interested in trying it that day. It wasn't jampacked with sweetener. It was a great balance of sweet (and it wasn't too sweet at all) and bitterness from the espresso. I'd get it again! But like I said, I'll be back to try more of their coffee. My friend got their raspberry matcha latte. She liked it but had to drain out the raspberry when we got home because she said the raspberry made it taste more bitter than it needed to be. She would have preferred a fruit that was more on the sweet side to play with the bitter matcha flavor. This is the reason why I give it 4 stars. Can't wait for my next visit to see what else they'll have on their drink menu and excited to have another cup of coffee with sabayah here!!

This place appeared on my Instagram a couple of times as the hot spot cafe to try. Glad I did. A Yemeni coffee shop. So cute and loving the green vibes. Every part of the decor was well thought out, especially the unique menu items. The winning part for me at this cute little establishment is the unique drinks and pastries, and the fact there was a cafe opened until 3am. Now that is a win in my books. Price wise the norm for a unique latte now is around $7 bucks. And the same for my pastry, around $5. I added a tip to support this cute and vibing place. Asked the Barista for recommendations on my first visit and got their popular Honey Cinnamon iced latte. Very good choice and had that cinnamon toast crunch taste and bitter good coffee mixture. Thanks Mokafe for the great suggestion. The pastries were also a hard choice to choose from. Went with my instincts because green is my favorite color so I went with the pistachio tree leches cake. So moist and rich in flavors. Tasted the pistachio and that special sweetened condensed milk you get in any great tres leches cake. My friend did order a pastry herself and because she can't have too much dairy, she chose the carrot cake slice. This was a bit on the dry and hard side and we had to leave the crust out. Think it wasn't a popular choice amongst the customers and was sitting out for too long. That was the only ok-experience we had here but everything else was fantastic. I would have to come back to try everything else because it was impossible to get everything done in one visit. The next on my radar is the Honeycomb cake and the French Toast latte.

Very cute coffee restaurant in the heart of Little Egypt! The decor was really special, and I really liked the color palette... It was really busy on a Sunday afternoon because there was an event happening at the same time. There was just one guy behind the bar making coffee, so it took a beat to get our drinks and impossible to find seating. However, we could tell it was a really beloved coffee shop in the community and definitely wish we could have spent more time there! The coffee selection was expansive, and they had great Yemeni coffee and a delicious looking array of pastries. Prices also felt in-line. I would come back!

It's very beautiful here. There are plenty of seating and outlets for a wfh day. Theres free and fast wifi also. I really enjoyed the complimentary cucumber water and free sample during my visit. The honeycomb dessert was very delicious. It was warm and had the perfect amount of sweetness. I recommend that. Unfortunately, you can barely taste the lavender in the lavender latte which is a bit disappointing. My friend ordered the Nutella latte and there was barely any Nutella in the drink.

Ordered: Pistachio Croissant (~$7) Honeycomb Khaliat Alnahal (~$8) 12oz Iced Yemeni Latte (~$7): with whole milk and house-made lavender syrup Aya's take: There's definitely been an influx of Middle Eastern cafes & coffee shops in NYC which is great to see as a Middle Eastern myself. We stopped by Mokafe on a cold day and it was almost entirely full. The owner was super friendly and explained some of their top items. I was a bit indecisive about which drink to get and he mentioned their house-made syrups. I was pleasantly surprised that they had just made a batch of lavender which they were testing out; I decided to give it a try. The Iced Yemeni Latte was super delicious! The Yemeni coffee beans were fresh, the lavender was delicious and came through in every sip, and it was super creamy. I kind of wish the default milk option wasn't whole milk as it makes the drink a lot denser. They do have other milk options that come at an up-charge. The Honeycomb Khaliat Alnahal was good but could've used more filling, in my opinion. The Pistachio Croissant was outrageously good! The owner also told us that all their pastries are made in-house. The pistachio tasted authentic without additives or that fake pistachio taste that you typically have in pastries. All in all, Mokafe was a good try and I would consider coming back. Also love the decor and color palette they have throughout.

Mokafe Coffee House deserves all the praise that they've been getting lately as their coffee and refreshers really are fantastic. As I was fasting for the Holidays, I opted for a refresher rather than a coffee but I saw many people who opted for the latter instead. FWIW, Mokafe Coffee House is open very late anyways at least during Ramadan. The refresher I got was the strawberry mint (I believe it was mint)? and it was really nice. Best part is it wasn't 90% ice like other places' refreshers. I didn't have room for dessert from Mokafe as I had brought some knafeh from Al-Sham's nearby (and the owner was very kind and let us bring outside food) but the desserts do look fantastic. I will 110% be back next time I'm in Astoria.

This place is sooo cute. I like the green and tree theme. The coffee was also really good. I had a hazelnut cracking cup. Although it was a little too sweet for my liking it was very fun cracking the cup and the drink was also good. I also had the viral chocolate with pistachio inside. Sooooo good, again slightly sweet for my liking but it was still really good. Highly recommend it.

A new cafe in the heart of Steinway has entered the chat!! This one in a kind place has multiple drinks to choose from. My friend and I ordered a hot chai on a cold rainy day and a triangle shaped pastry. I'm not certain what the pastry is called but it was topped off with honey and tasted like a croissant. The chai was amazing, I usually am picky when it comes to chai but this place does it right. The tea is brewed perfectly and it does not take concentrated or artificial like many chained cafes have sometimes. The service is friendly and accommodating. As for their seating arrangements there are so many seats!! Not to mention there is wifi and outlets if you ever want to study here. There's also a bathroom for the customers; I will be coming back here to try their other tea and to relax and study.

It's just a hype. Very Pricey! Theres way better cafes where I could get a better coffee than this in Astoria. Im very disappointed bc my drink was serve in a "disposable cup" considering we were dining in. Service is nothing special. A typical grab and go coffee. Thats what I have expericed. They call your name like youre in Starbucks. No top notch service. Again for the price this is very frustrating. Ok, the pistacio chocolate bar is delicious--for 11.00 dollars?! Again, for that price?!..it better be good! Sorry but NOT going back again!

Great coffee shop! Wide selection of coffee including those from Yemen, also many pastries and desserts. Music was low and enjoyable while I had a pistachio croissant and a Yemen cold brew and did some work (free wifi). I love a croissant and they had at least four different flavors when I visited. Main dining area is huge and adorably decorated, they even have outdoor seating and then another area indoors labeled "quiet area". Staff is sweet and friendly. Pay with cash for a discount. Great addition to Steinway and will be my new go-to spot for working and coffee!

This women that's on the phone that works here, was screaming to the top of her lungs for a good 30-40 minutes on her phone before this recording was taken place. Imagine what you're hearing but 5 times louder, there were people sitting in the quiet room and the small back outside area trying to get work done and literally 8 people left the back / place due to her. She has no social awareness of her own work place and most likely incompetent at her job if she can't seem to respect her own place of work where customers are sitting in the back mostly to do their work. She should be fired and replaced, everyone else that works here are good except for her in the front of the house.

Really wanted to love the kunafe and pistachio croissants, but both were stale :( It's disappointing, especially when you expect a $10 pastry to be fresh. The Dubai chocolate was good, though.

I only tried a medium (12 oz) drip coffee and did not enjoy the taste. Also, $4.53 for a not so great 12 oz coffee is a lot even in 2023. On the bright side: it's large and spacious and the restroom is clean.

Good coffee in a beautiful space -- with lots of seating! The pistachio croissant is delicious and not overly sweet. They also have Yemeni tea and sabaya, a flaky pastry drizzled with honey.

I recently enjoyed a coffee and pistachio croissant at Mokafe, and it was fantastic. The coffee was rich and smooth, with just the right amount of sweetness. The pistachio croissant was perfectly flaky and buttery, with a creamy pistachio filling that wasn't too sweet. The bits of pistachio on top added a nice crunch. Together, they made for a delicious and satisfying treat. I will definitely be back here to study when my college semester starts!

Got here 2 hours before closing and they didn't want to make another pot of chai for me and some friends. I wouldn't recommend this place and wouldn't come back.

Service is always top notch i really enjoy the sandwiches and hummus toast. Definitely try the Adeni lattes they are so good! This is a great spot to work or study from.

New store opened, really nice area to sit down, have your coffee and work remotely. Staff very friendly and the coffee was great. They have a small bakery, second several pastries to accommodate your coffee fix. Decor is nice and well thought out!

I love this place!! Everything is amazing and delicious. My only complaint is that the people at the registers should learn how to tender cash. I was charged an extra card fee twice because they chose the "card" option instead of "cash". It's pretty frustrating, either stop accepting cash entirely or make sure workers know how to tender cash. Still love you guys though!

Super strong and rich coffee. This is the first time I felt a little jittery after coffee cause it's the real deal. It's really pretty inside and there's lots of seating if you want go sit and study. I also really liked the staff and was offered free samples of their baked goods.

this place is seriously amazing. so cute and staff are very nice. BUT and I feel bad for saying this but it's a HUGE disturbance... the staff takes loud and long speaker phone calls. I even saw a guy move tables to try and be more comfortable. they should absolutely be able to talk on the phone watch videos etc during slow times but please please please can they just use headphones?? it makes an otherwise lovely cafe feel like the subway.

Was looking for authentic Palestinian treats like they claim they have and all I found was tres leches cakes, croissant and Dubai chocolate. I understand that the Palestinians have only been around since 1963 but I thought that by now they would have their own cuisine. Disappointing to say the least!

The croissants are amazing! Coffee is really tasty but the prices are high. $30 for 2 lattes and 2 croissants. The design of the shop is super cute and the chairs at the table are SO comfy!

All the drinks taste amazing the place is so clean and comfy, the service was alright :\ ,the cookies and carrot bread and sapaya taste old, i taste the sapaya before and it taste amazing and fresh.

The service is great! The barista who served me was the sweetest! She recommended a salted caramel latte which was SO good! I got the chocolate bars of course, because my kids (and yes I admit it, myself) were dying to try them! They were so good! I can't wait to go back and try more! Such a gem! Aesthetically it is very cute (and clean), plus there are a LOT of places to sit. Price wise, we spent around $14 for two cappuccinos and a pastry. The drinks are tasty and you have the option to try coffee from Yemen or Guatemala. The cakes slices are yummy (but a bit too sweet, so be warned). And, the best part is that they are open until late (around 2am-ish). If you're a night owl and looking for a coffee fix this is the perfect spot. It also seems like it's a lovely spot to study at--however, I've been twice and it gets pretty crowded around 10pm. Parking is not the best as it's a pretty popular area! Overall such a great spot!

Ever since I've had the adani chai at Hadramout a year back (which was long overdue because I've been meaning to try it for a few years) , I had to try it at other spots and see how close they got it to my first sip. Always chasing that first high, IYKYK. Nonetheless , we stepped in and the art deco vibe to the cafe interior was on point, populated with patrons on their laptops to add to the background aesthetic. They had a decent pastry display case and their iconic bubble cake looking dessert, shaped like a pizza pie sliced up into triangles of sweetness (thanks to the honey drizzle). But let's just skip all the fluff and get to the star of the show, the chai. Was it that similar flavor? Oh yeah! Did the tea have body ? OH YEAH! Was it satisfying ? * kool aid man breaking through the wall OH YEAH !! Look Yemeni chai/ coffee/ tea chai/ chai tea/ whatever you wanna call it , is here to stay. And mah fellow pakis, (derogatory term in UK, endearing word in the U.S.) we need to up our own chai game or as the Emirates call it "KARAK" probably Arabic for "CRACK" chai. It definitely tastes different cooked in big pots compared to you making it all on your own. Just not the same. Here's the bottom line, more Yemeni chai/ coffee spots popping up and it's going to be the new Middle Eastern/ Asian/ Desi hangouts and meet and greet spots. Make sure you support them , drink their chai and converse with the patrons... you might find your partner/ situationship/ relationship/polyamorous/ethical nonmonogamous partner here !

this is a beautiful cafe in astoria. I stopped by because i was in the area and my friend wanted to try the yemeni cafe. I ordered the spiced latte and it was delicious but a bit overpriced. The service was friendly. I would stop by to sit in this beautiful cafe but not really as a grab and go option.

Visiting from out of town and found this cool coffee shop. Excellent service and super clean place. The pistacho croissant was on point.

I love this location. I have gone to the Paterson location twice expecting the same vibe and service I get at the Steinway location and it was not the same at all. Mokafe on Steinway is the best! Chill vibe to grab coffee or tea with friends or to study & work. The staff is so friendly and inviting and also funny :). Wael is the name of one of them and he is very kind. They are always smiling. And the Shay 'Adeni is always on point! They always ask if I want sugar added when I order a pot (which I didn't realize how much I appreciated until I went to Paterson NJ location asking them to put sugar in the pot and the guy said "there's sugar on the table" with a lil 'tude lol :/ ). Their desserts and pastries are also really good and fresh.
