The food here is gas. Run, get a table, do what you’re meant to do. What is there to life but to eat and enjoy? Mole Poblano is the local neighborhood joint for authentic food and EXCELLENT service. Javier, the owner, is the sweetest gentleman ever. And you get a LOT of food at a very good price. I am a small 5’ 5” ish female barely over 120 lbs. You would not imagine that I could finish a platter of Mole Enchiladas in one sitting. But you know, when you’re getting mole at a restaurant literally named Mole Poblano, anything is really possible.

While I visit 9th St., Italian market quite often for my fresh produce it’s not often I get a chance to sit down and actually eat at a restaurant on ninth Street. It’s actually been a couple of years. It was beautiful out 60+ degrees and sunny and I was hungry and I was on my way back from the Asian farmers market in FDR Park in South Philadelphia and that made me very hungry so I found a spot on ninth Street was in a hunt for fresh tacos. There are many places on ninth Street that sell fresh tacos so this is a random pick and I’ll be damned if I didn’t pick the right place. A lot of these little places are considered hole in the wall, that being said you can find some real gems here. I didn’t plan to do a review on this place. It was just a quick bite that turned into a review when I walked in. I was greeted by a really nice man very helpful and the place was actually very nice looking kinda upscale, actually on the menu, there are a few vegetarian options that can quickly be made into a vegan option along with regular items so this would be a place that has vegan options. They have seating on the inside and the outside. I choose the outside such a pretty day in the gentleman provided me with tableside service immediately brought me a nice fresh glass of water, napkins, plates, and flatware, and not soon after my food was delivered within 10 minutes the pictures say it all just look how fresh the tacos had Fresh sautéed onions, peppers, mushrooms, fresh, shredded lettuce, fresh herbs, and cilantro with freshly whipped up sauce, Verde and spicy red sauce, served with fresh limes, cucumbers, and radishes on the side what a great combination reasonably priced at $13. I asked the gentleman for a takeout container because I thought I was gonna take at least half home…. that didn’t happen, these are up there with the best of the best when it comes to fresh tacos. These were seasoned perfectly. I’ll have to hit this place up again in the future. There are a few pictures.

Pretty authentic Mexican food. Tamales are good, soft, not too dry Enchiladas are great although I would have enjoyed a little more heat. Flan es BEST in town

AMAZING food! The roasted tomatoes were done perfectly. Mole enchiladas and roasted chicken were so tasty! Delivered promptly after ordering online. If I were local I'd order from here regularly.

My husband and I wandered in after spotting tamales on the menu, and they did not disappoint—flavorful masa, plenty of salsa, just fantastic. We sipped on a coconut atole while reminiscing about Mexico City- I think it’s the first time I’ve ever enjoyed that flavor. Sometimes atole can taste over sweet or artificial but this was wonderful. The tamales were so good we ordered extras to take home and decided to split the chilaquiles divorciados with arrachera. Everything was packed with flavor. Service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was really nice. We’ll definitely be back.

This place was really good! When my partner and I arrived, we got complementary chips and beans with pico that started us on a beautiful food journey. We loved the spicy of the mole and the beans TRULY was delightful. I really liked this spot. Right on 9th and Washington and probably a great alternative if south Philly barbacoa is too packed or if you’re looking for something beyond tacos.

Mole Poblano is in the great spot in south Philly. The restaurant is very small but it’s very cozy. They have also outdoor dining areas which is better than inside the restaurant. They are serving really tasty Mexican food. I ordered cactus salad and salmon en crèma de chipotle. Cactus salad was very fresh and delicious. Salmon en crema de chipotle was just excellent. The cooking temperature, the balance of the sauce, the seasoning and the presentation was wonderful. It came with rice and steamed vegetables that were also very delicious. I really enjoyed the food. Btw they served really tasty bread too. The service was really great. Colombiano was really busy inside, but he always checked on me when I was dining outside. The prices were very reasonable. I hope many people will try this hidden gem restaurant. It’s BYOB too. Highly recommend!

Update 6/2024: Came back to Mole Poblano, and it has definitely become one of my top 3 favorite mexican restaurants. Pedro and Fabricio went above and beyond, providing a great knowledge of their menu. They were so accommodating and adjusted a dish to satisfy our dietary restrictions. This time, we tried the Steak Patron (limited time dish). It was out of this world. The steak was juicy, tender, and packed with flavor with a side of nice chard vegetables and guac. My boys had the double-tortilla quesabirrias with a side of consome, lime wedges, and pickled onions. The aguas frescas were as always nice and refreshing. Thanks, Mole Poblano, for making our Father's Day celebration special. Keep up the outstanding work 👏 👏👏 This hole in the wall is a gem located in the South Philly Italian Market. We got there 2 hours before closing, and understandably, many dishes were sold out (barbacoa), but the staff was helpful and friendly and recommended other amazing options. We had the steak nachos consisting of delicious freshly made tortilla chips, juicy savory steak, melted stringy cheese, jalapeños, pico de gallo and cream. I also had (Pancita) a beef tripe soup, very flavorful and hearty garnished with chopped onions, cilantro, and lime wedges. Last but not least, we had the steak tortas, which were huge. I'll definitely be back to try their barbacoa and enjoy their great customer service. Keep up the outstanding work, Mole Poblano. 👏

Yelp
Mmm mmm mmm! I loved these quesabirria tacos. The consume was fantastic especially with some lime in the tacos. The guac was very tasty, and I loved trying it with the tacos as well. Pretty cool that this is a BYOB place, and our waiter was very attentive to us. We went around 8:30pm and ended up being one of 2 couples inside. After the other had left, we were left to just enjoy our dinner. I liked that once we had everything we needed they kind of let us just converse by ourselves. I will say though, if you come when it's busy be sure to be accommodating as they don't have a large number of seats.

Yelp
We did a fair bit of walking around before we found this spot. It's an Italian Market favorite: Authentic Mexican dishes; Affordable pricing; as well as really flavorful dishes. I was quite pleased to find free on street parking too! The location did need a little sprucing up, but the food more than made up for the intimate dining area, which was a little unkempt. They are a BYOB so it wasn't difficult for the girls and I, to finish a full bottle over our meals. In my opinion this felt more like a place to go on a date or even with family. Considering it was 'girl's night out' and we didn't end up in the county jail...I look forward to coming back here in the future.

Yelp
Nice little spot located in Italian Market. Picked those babies up on time and let me tell you...they are hot and juicy. They provided me with 2 different sauces and I prefer the green over red, more flavor. Speaking of more flavor, i wished they gave a bit more seasonings and pineapple for my Al Pastor. Otherwise, all is good. The hostess/server was kind as well. Will be back for other things!

Yelp
We had always just considered this place a cute spot to have a cheap lunch. One night we had a friend visiting from out of town and thought we would give it a try. Everything from the service to the atmosphere to the food was very impressive. It also doesn't break the bank. Kudos that it's BYOB. Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Ended up here while the family was visiting Philadelphia. It's a few blocks from Pats and Gino's! We had the enchiladas (veg and cheese) and our son had the cheese quesadilla with fries. We also had a starter of nachos. Funny story- about 10 minutes in, we get a bowl of chips with refried black beans, cheese and sour cream artistically drizzled on. I looked at my wife and thought uh oh, this is one of those spots where serving sizes are small and they focus on presentation. A few chips in, and our waitress comes over and says these are the complimentary chips and our nachos will be out in a minute. Do what? My stance did a 180 and I thought their "standard fare table chips" could hold its own as a tapas style dish. Our nachos were even better and a larger portion :)- We ate both of these first offerings so fast I did not get any pictures. When our enchiladas and quesadilla came out, there was no doubt left that portion sizes are huge here! The green sauce could be drank on its own and the enchiladas were fresh- with a wonderful pull on the cheese. Our son enjoyed his enchilada and I "taxed" his fries often! Service was fantastic as well! It is not a very large space but they make great use of the layout they use. If any suggestions could be made- I would create a vegetarian section on the menu- though they were polite and stated they could accommodate easily with some substitutions.

Yelp
Once again I found myself traveling for work on the city of Brotherly Love looking for something both local and delicious. Mole Poblano was an absolute dream. It's what we would say in Spanish "muy bueno". The staff and service were incredibly kind and attentive. Now let's talk about the food. Ended up going with the chips and guacamole with the steak burrito. I can honestly say I have never had chips this good in my entire life yet alone guacamole that can be eaten alone with a spoon. The steak burrito had flavors that transported me across space and time. Highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone with taste buds.

Yelp
literal fire mexican food @ a great price (about $20 for most entrees), solid, fast service, and a perpetually christmas?? themed vibe on the inside that's super comfy to sit around in. just all around a place you should def add to your rotation. didn't need a res for 3 people on sunday night, but would call ahead if you're 5-6 ish people because the restaurant is pretty small if they have goat tacos get em BYOB w/ no fees, ~$25/pp after tax and tip

Yelp
Mole Poblano is a local gem. Second to none in every category from service and food to tacos and tamales. The enchiladas de mole was spicy, sweet and filling. Would also recommend the breakfast sandwiches which are a healthy size. Come hungry and leave happy!

Yelp
Excellent Mexican! great service and friendly staff. Loved the shrimp and chicken fajitas. They come out in a sizzling platter and are seasoned perfectly. The chicken and shrimp were tender and the dish was well presented. Nice size portion and it came with rice, black beans and pico. Loved the corn tortillas too. A nice added touch was the complimentary chips with sour cream and black beans. Loved the two spicy salsas as well. Dining here was being transported to Mexico for the day. Highly recommend!

Yelp
There's a reason why this place is often full with a line waiting outside! In my opinion, Mole Poblano has the all-around best Mexican food in Philly. Other places may have a stellar specialty, but at Mole Poblano, whether you're in the mood for tacos, tortas, enchiladas, or mole poblano's namesake, the chicken in mole sauce, you're in for a good meal. (On that note, on the weekends, they make an incredible goat barbacoa - that alone is worth the visit.) Besides the barbacoa, our top three favorite items are the cubana torta (messy, so stacked it's difficult to bite, and jam-packed with flavor), the tacos al pastor, and the mole poblano (tender stewed chicken served in an intensely chocolatey mole sauce). Service can be a bit hit-or-miss; last time we went, the service was prompt, attentive, and friendly, but we've also had experiences where there is a huge delay between when one person's dish comes out versus the other one. Overall though, the hiccups in service don't detract from Mole Poblano's delicious food, and certainly don't stop us from coming back again and again.

Yelp
Recommended by a friend who did not steer me wrong. Really delicious authentic food, good portions, and A+++ service from the staff. Our server brought our water for our dog without asking. The guacamole was incredible and the greens that came with the carne asada were fantastic. Neither of us had tried them before because I haven't seen any other Mexican places serve up a plate like that (and I've been to Texas). Also it's right by Bambino, perfect for dessert!

Fiorella R.

Yelp
Chicken soup was delicious. I ordered a chicken soups from the other restaurants in the area and the one at Mole poblano was the best and the most affordable. The horchata is delicious, not too sweet and has a yummy nutty like flavor.

Yelp
Another place we just happen to stumble upon in the city. We walked by and we took a look at the menu and saw inside that the ambiance was pretty nice, so we figured we would give it a try. Pretty small on the inside but it wasn't too busy when we first got there. We definitely came at a good time. By the time we left people were lined up outside to eat. We decided on splitting al pastor and steak/chorizo tacos. They brought out complimentary chips and salsa, and the chips were covered with refried beans and I believe a cilantro crema sauce. Very good! Our tacos came out pretty fast and both were very good. We did ask for some extra pineapple for the al pastor. Both of the salsas are very good too. I preferred the green as it complimented the tacos more. The red was good too, but I felt the smokiness took away from everything else. Would definitely be back to try more items off the menu.

Yelp
Was craving some enchiladas so I decided to try a new spot, and Mole Poblano has been on the list for a little while. I got the Enchiladas de Mole and they did not disappoint. There was a great mix of flavor, a little bit of heat to the sauce, and a good amount of filling. Service was great and it wasn't too busy for a Saturday night. Really enjoyed this place. Chill, unfussy vibes.

Yelp
A friend of ours who lives in South Philly mentioned this was one her very favorite restaurants, so we were beyond ecstatic to be seated right away (we'd arrived just as the lunch crowd was leaving). The menu is quite large, so we appreciated the advice from our attentive server. We started off with complementary chips and salsa, which arrived seconds after we ordered them and were fresh, crispy and delicious. My wife ordered Nachos as her main dish and absolutely loved them. I tried them and was also very impressed; they were quite loaded up with everything that makes Mexican food so irresistible. But here it wasn't just the quantity; the quality of the ingredients was exceptional. Tacos al Pastor is one of the dishes I use when comparing restaurants and these were among the very best I've ever had. The meat was crispy outside; yet moist and tender inside with a very savory flavor. All in all a great dining experience and we're definitely looking forward to our next visit!

Yelp
Been coming to here for a couple years and I hope this places continues to be here for a long time. their tamales are to die for and are so moist and flavorful unlike some other tamales I've had. literally everything here is amazing but some family favorites are their grilled lamb chops, their mix chicken steak and shrimp alambre, chicken nachos, and barbacoa tacos with their consume. Everything is done so well and the staff is so friendly which is why i can't get enough of this place.

Yelp
Had a good Tuesday here at Mole Poblano. Ended up not getting the Mole Poblano which was a favorite on the menu as the waiter said if it were between the two choices I gave he said go for the lamb ribs so I did and they were great! Loved the cactus salad too and the sope And of course I didn't end up getting tacos which was my main goal of wandering through South 9th street after seeing a milliondy Taco Tuesday restaurant advertisements on Instagram. I wanted to try a new place so stopped here. My partner got the whole fish. Porgy was the option today, which he said wouldn't have been his choice to grill garlic style because the type of fish meat needed a lot more marinated type seasoning versus fried with the garlic sauce on top he would have let them choose how to prepare it without the choice of 3 styles on the menu. But either way they did do an excellent grill and filet to it and crisp of the skin. And it presents pretty with the rice and garden salad. The chips with black bean and salsa for a table starter was nice and different from the usual chips and salsa. I love their verde and roja salsas. Hope they are homemade because it was delicious!

Yelp
If only I could give this 5 stars. We ordered delivery right before they closed, and the service was perfection. We ordered: -nachos -beef burrito -chips and guacamole So authentic and delicious. Will be back again.
google avatar

Retna S.

Yelp
The review is for the tamales that are available on weekends. I tried verde, mole, and rojos, I forgot the other one. The gentleman who helped me with my order was super nice and friendly. I felt really welcomed. Tamales were still hot, decent size. However most of them are cornmeal. Not too much meat and on top of that they lack flavors.
google avatar

Yelp
Phenomenal food, incredibly kind servers... I'm so glad we found this place when we did. I can't say enough good things about our whole dinner experience tonight--gorgeous chips and salsa to start, the world's most decadent torta, the perfectly proportioned tacos, the music, etc. Grateful to have discovered a restaurant like this during the pandemic and thrilled to have it to return to again and again.
google avatar

Angie B.

Yelp
Such a sweet spot on a springy afternoon. Outside tables, great service and welcome break for lunch during the work week. I ordered the carnitas tacos. Flavor was there but a bit too much fat and gristle in the pork for my taste. The guacamole was delicious and my friend said her chicken tacos were delicious. I would have liked less gristle and fat in the taco but it won't deter me from coming back.
google avatar

Ricky R.

Yelp
The food was delicious, and the service was excellent! Very authentic and reminded my dad of home in Mexico.

Yelp
Excellent service and delicious chicken tacos. The guacamole is en pointe! The restaurant has a very comfortable vibe. I shall return again.

Yelp
Was in the neighborhood for lunch during a road trip. Not many places open and ended up here more or less at random. Boy were we luckily! Of all the restaurants we passed, this one was far and away the most covid safe. We ate in a lovely little outdoor booth and our server provided hand sanitizer when we sat down. The menu is more or less what you would expect. I ordered a burrito and my friend ordered their daily special. Without having asked for it we were brought a little plate of fresh made tortilla chips with salsa and some other sauces. Very tasty and gave us something to much on while waiting for our food. My burrito was good, might try something else next time, but overall solid. My friend's special though was amazing. Ended up coming with a bowl of soup and was generally just a lot more food then we expected. When we got the bill, I was shocked to see that our meals were the same price, only $12 each. Great value for money. Would definitely recommend it!

Yelp
Came for the Saturday morning tamales. Look, these were really cheap for a lot of food. I just wasn't impressed with the product. Admittedly I don't know what a good tamale tastes like. But these were really just mounds of steamed cornmeal with a very small percentage being some decently executed pulled pork. While this dish was labeled "mole" tamales, there was was mole sauce or flavor. I found the dish monotonous and uninteresting. But for $5, it was a lot of food.
google avatar

Simon W.

Yelp
Enchiladas De Mole is the best I've had. I come back often just for this dish. The sauce is awesome and I'd say you could put this on anything and it would be delicious. The chicken is moist and the queso adds complexity of flavors. That's not to say Mole Poblano is a one hit wonder, on the contrary, the other dishes, the Grilled Chicken Platter with beans, rice, grilled poblano and cactuses is bountiful and equally delicious. The chicken itself is pounded thin and isn't dry. The Shrimp Taquitos also great onsite not as a takeout order. Chips are complementary if you eat in, you'll miss them if you takeout. It's generally kinda empty on weeknights, I've heard much about their tamales and specials on the weekends. I wish they would make some of these specials on the weeknights.
google avatar

Yelp
Do not let the small and unassuming store front deceived you. Mole Poblano serves probably the best food from the state of Puebla in Philadelphia. The mole is a complete sensory experience. The food comes out with love from that small kitchen, because this is family own. I ordered the special of the night: the ribeye. The ribeye was juicy, tendered and so flavorful. I love the roasted nopales! My husband ordered the enchiladas poblanas, and they were beyond delicious. The service is outstanding and every dish executed perfectly. Such attention to detail from Javier and his staff. Credit cards are accepted and this is a BYOB. Good excuse to bring an aged tequila or a mezcal. Enjoy!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is right up my alley, and I've tried they're mole, suizas, guacamole, and Al pastor. Each were right on target and they had a nice habanero sauce for me to spice my dish up. The staff were very nice as well. Definite returner.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious food. Reasonable prices. Friendly and efficient service. You really can't ask for anything more. There are many places to get Mexican food in the city, but I often go out of my way for Mole Poblano.
google avatar

Yelp
First re-review: Ordered the following items (tamales-rajas and mole; chicken tinga tostadas; enchiladas with mole poblano & chicken; pastor tacos) Enchiladas were phenomenal and are really what the reputation of this restaurant is based on. It is mind-blowingly good and one of my favorite dishes in Philly. Pastor tacos were a pleasant surprise and are now among my top 3 in Philly (along with Las Bugambilias and Tamalex); very fresh and clean flavor to it, and Mole Poblano's might be the best of the lot (not sure if this but not unreasonable). Other two items were just a slight letdown comparatively; tostadas were good, but a couple of notches below El Jarocho's (best in Philly in my view). El Jarocho's has more beans on the tortilla shell and the tinga is spiced rather differently and reminds me of really good Southern (as in U.S.) food in aw ay that Mole Poblano's does not. The tamales were a mixed bag: rajas, which have peppers and cheese, were outstanding, but the mole tamal was rather dry and seemed to lack filling inside besides the cornmeal.

Yelp
I've eaten a lot of Mexican, Colombian, Venezuelan, Dominican...you get it. I only go back to the greats and only those that make life easier by having food my kids always eat. This place is a love story I have been sitting on for almost a year. There are 3 generations of men in the same family that own and operate this restaurant. The grandfather is a dear and always looks smart in his black cowboy hat. He always has a smile for customers and is always moving. His son is very sharp and attentive and keeps the floor moving in a snappy and professional fashion. Two of his sons work with them, one 19 out front waiting tables and another in the kitchen. It's the kinda place you feel good patronizing because you know they're doing something good and special there. The food though?! If you say Screw All That emotional bull you can still feel a deep connection to the food that's served in this small cafe style spot on 9th Street before Washington Avenue. The nachos are crisp and full of serious flavor. We always finish every bite and they always accommodate us with extra chips for any bits that we missed the first time over. The Alambra platter is a carnivores paradise and my hubby orders it every time with a side of guacamole. Yum! The tacos Al pastor are fight worthy. Like Go Outside and Fight over someone stealing one from you. The beans are always well cooked with a yummy gravy that I love to drizzle over my rice. This spot also has one of my favorite features in a restaurant these days and that's BYOB!! Just in case you haven't read any of my other reviews, BYOB has become the quickest way to get my attention when describing a new place to me.
google avatar

Ryan M.

Yelp
Sat inside. Nice ambiance for a date night. BYOB. Staff was friendly. Ordered chicken and pork tacos as well as chicken taquitos. All the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. I would definitely go back again and recommend.

Yelp
I came here with an associate, as we were curious about the various Mexican restaurants that Italian Market has to offer! We found this place randomly and decided that the next time we went to south philly, we'd come here. So we came here during brunch hours, and they have the brunch menu! I got the ham omelette which is perfectly doused in light cheese sauce, seasoned rice, and beans. It was fantastic and not way too heavy, but very filling. My associate had an al pastor taco and beef taco combo, all of which were fantastic and flavorful! Tender meat, juicy. Service was excellent! The guy helped us get to know the menu very well and made sure we knew what we were getting. Even explained the al pastor tacos being a little on the fatty side, just in case we were not into that I guess. That's always nice to know the details of the food we get. I would definitely come back here!

Yelp
We've been trying out all the places in the Italian market and this place was in keeping with the great experiences we've had! Came here earlyish on a Saturday for brunch. The "brunch" offering aren't quite as extensive as some other places in the area; generally very basic egg dishes with chorizo and other Mexican touches. We ended up splitting a bunch of things (there were 4 of us). We had 1 of each of the tamales, the goat special tacos, mole enchiladas and an egg and chorizo torta. Everything was absolutely fantastic. The tamales were fresh and delicious. Corn meal was well cooked but the inside wasn't dry at all and the fillings were delicious. My favorite was probably the bean and pork one. My favorite other dish was the goat tacos. The flavor of the meat really came through well and wasn't covered up by other toppings and there wasn't too much fat, but just enough. Enchiladas were delicious and a nice helping of mole sauce. Torta was good but couldn't necessarily taste the chorizo because of all the other things on the sandwich. Price was very reasonable. Service was quick. Only two small notes if they're reading this - the music was super loud for 10AM on a Saturday when we were the only people in the restaurant, and they didn't have enough breakfast menus for everyone in the restaurant. Regardless, we will be back for sure and have to add this into our rotation for the Italian market.
google avatar

Yelp
The mole was high quality, but still needed more seasoning. Spice level was just right. A bit one-note for my taste and could have used some onions, garnish, and generous portions of chicken. $14 for platter but not that many rice and beans and was under-seasoned.

Yelp
Ordered dinner online at 7. Site said it would be 60-75 minutes. Called restaurant at 8:30 and they told me they didn't have drivers and the delivery app company should have called me to cancel, which never happened. Whoever I spoke to on the phone was pretty nonchalant and didn't seem to care. 10 minutes after I called the delivery company called to cancel. When I asked when they were told my order was canceled they said they were just notified. So the person I spoke to from the restaurant lied to me about my order and only canceled it when I called to complain. Luckily the city has plenty of other options so I won't need to bother with a restaurant that is this sloppy and careless again

Yelp
This is an unassuming spot down the street from the tourist-titans of Pat's and Geno's. I am glad to have stumbled across it. The food is authentic and fresh. I had the goat which was absolutely great

Yelp
Ordered delivery during the pandemic and our food was safety packaged and most importantly- DELICIOUS! The steak burrito was incredible, really juicy and flavorful. The quesadillas were so good as well. The food came fast and was still hot (and delicious as leftovers the next day too!) Can't believe it's our first time ordering but won't be our last.

Yelp
We've ordered from Mole Poblano twice during the quarantine - first, my partner got the mole enchiladas and I got fajitas; second, he got the verde enchiladas and I got chorizo nachos (guac & chips were ordered both times, of course). Of the dishes, the mole enchiladas and the nachos were OUTSTANDING. Seriously, I think the nachos were my favorite ever delivery nachos - lots of toppings, chips were crispy, and the portion was large enough for 3 meals! The mole enchiladas were definitely better than the verde (my partner said the chicken wasn't particularly seasoned well - and I think that had to do with the verde sauce not having a ton of flavor, whereas the mole was incredible). FAST service, good prices, a great menu - highly recommended for delivery!

Yelp
Every few weeks I get a craving to stop by Mole Poblano. Their service is wonderful, their food is amazing, and the portion sizes are definitely filling. I especially come here for the Queso Fundido. They are BYOB and are definitely worth a try.

Yelp
Great! I can't wait to try this place again. Hole in the wall, tiny space, but feels like a hidden gem. BYOB. They accept credit cards which is convenient. I got the $8 tacos al pastor (3 tacos to an order). Really flavorful and filling. The owner gave us a free appetizer just because which was so nice.

Yelp
What wonderful food! This is a great small family place right on 9th street in the Italian Market, just a block from Pats/Genos. We were a group of 6 so called ahead to make sure we would get a table, because this place is very small. Everything was delicious! Tacos al pastor, enchiladas de mole, and everything else. Particularly spectacular was the Molcajete - a large black cauldron filled with grilled chicken, steak, queso fresco, cactus and onion in a delicious sofrito sauce, served with tortillas and eaten like fajitas. Be warned that it is meant for 2 people, which I should have realized because it costs $25, which is exactly twice the price of most entrees (thought the tacos only cost around around $8 for three). Definitely a great place!

Yelp
Favorite Mexican food in philadelphia! Been here many times, never have been disappointed. The mole poblano sauce is amazing and you can even pick how spicy you would like it to be! I've also had tamales, fajitas, nachos, pico de gallo with chips and guacamole. Amazing place. Definitely a hidden gem. Anytime somebody asks me about mexican food in philadelphia I will always recommend this place!

Yelp
It's a small restaurant in South Philly markets section, but the food was very good. Everything tasted fresh & flavorful. Our only knock on the food was that it was very mild tasting - no spiciness to it, which is one of the things we enjoy about Mexican food. The service was very good - they were very attentive and took good care of us. We will definitely find another time to return to this restaurant, and we'll just have to ask if they can make the dishes spicier for us. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for good (but mild) Mexican food.

Yelp
Best thing I've probably eaten in a long time. Mole chicken enchiladas. Do it! Loved the intimacy of this place. Food came out quickly. Server was kind and attentive. All around the place you want to support and see succeed.

Yelp
Stopped in during Italian market fest and got the goat tacos Small space but the tacos were solid and I'll have to come back to try some of the other items many of which I know I can't eat in one sitting. But I would say to definitely come by if in the area. Friendly staff. The one guy had to translate for the girl who took my order but I will b back

Yelp
My friends and I stopped here on a Friday night around 9:30pm and were seated immediately. Let me just start off by saying that the food was absolutely amazing. The waiter brought us some tortilla chips covered in refried beans and cheese (on the house) and was really helpful with the menu. I ended up ordering the steak burrito and it came with a side salad. The burrito was decent sized, packed with ingredients. I'll add that everything seemed well balanced and I didn't find myself complaining about too much rice, or not enough meat, etc. I have no complaints whatsoever with the food, which came out to exactly $11.88. I could tell my friends were similarly satisfied as they ate their entire meals as well (chicken burrito and sopes). We came in about 30 mins before closing so I understand that people were probably ready to get out, especially on a Friday night. But some people came in from outside and just stood around and hung out with the guests at the table next to ours. It was a little bit crowded having a couple people stand next to your table while you eat for about 20 mins, but again, I think they were just waiting for their friends to get off work.
