Molly's Cupcakes

On a whim I stopped into Molly’s Cupcakes. I ordered a Ron Bennington (chocolate cake with peanut butter filling) and a Creme Brulee. The Ron Bennington was disappointing, the chocolate cake was plain and the peanut butter filling was literally plain peanut butter out the jar… it was also supposed to have crushed butterscotch topping on the ganache but mine came without. I didn’t notice this until I got home since I got it to go. The Creme Brulee was good, there were parts of the top that went past ‘caramelized’ into ‘burned’ territory and tasted bitter. But the rest was good. Neither cake is too sweet, which I like. The inside has a cozy vibe, there are books to read and board games if that’s your thing. Lots of seating, ala elementary, probably a nod to the origin story I read on their website (Molly was the owner’s teacher who would bake for the class). I can see this being a 4 star place with some improvements but I’m not feeling it right now, especially at $4.81 per cupcake. Strong *maybe* for the Creme Brulee, definitely not for the Ron Bennington (I also got a Cake Batter for someone else but I can’t speak on that taste wise but it seemed pretty plain/straightforward presentation wise). Idk if I’ll be back.

Ordered a red velvet cake to celebrate my mom’s birthday and it was super delicious! The only complaint I have though is that the cake to frosting ratio wasn’t too great. It was way too much cream cheese frosting in the center. If they had reduced it a bit it would’ve been perfect!

The “cupcakes” are disgusting. They are pure cheap sugar, cheap margarine and very little fruit. I would advise anyone with a little bit of love for themselves and their own health to stay away from this place. The coffee is crap but that doesn’t matter since you are already plainer by the hydrogenated fats on the creams. Also the service is messy and not all the staff is “welcoming”

Love this place! It was a stop on our food tour and the cupcakes were awesome! I grabbed a huge sugar cookie to go! I loved the butterscotch caramel and chocolate caramel. So much so that the following night, we got on the subway for 15 minutes each way to go back for more!!! Crazy!

Good. I may have made a cupcake choice that just died not connecting- peach cobbler cupcake. It was more quick bread, like a banana or zucchini bread, but sweet like a cupcake. Expected a more light and cakey experience. The peach experience was subtle - too subtle for the name and the spices were the same ... not at the expected level. My friend got a Samaos cupcake. She enjoyed it. Worth a visit, but may not hit the mark with everyone.

We got a blueberry cheesecake birthday cake, but unfortunately was nothing like the picture online, it had a VERY thick layer of icing on top (was supposed to have little/none). Because of that, didn’t taste anything like the blueberry cheesecake cupcake and was super sweet. Most of our guests did not like it. (Note, rainbow decorations are our own!) The employees were very nice and helpful, and we love the cupcakes from here. Would not recommend the cakes though.

I think I found my new favorite bakery in NYC! We got the peach cobbler, Cookie Monster, and a chocolate cupcake. They were delicious! I will definitely be making trips from Queens to this place because it is just that good! The staff is really nice too, which is always the cherry on top of a great place.

I’m gonna start by saying the people who work here are incredible - they are fun, witty and personal which is so not the vibe of service people as of late. The moment you walk into Molly’s you know you made the right choice, and the cupcakes speak for themself. The strawberry shortcake is the most INCREDIBLE thing I’ve ever tasted and any of the chocolate flavors you can’t go wrong. Mollys is my and my companies go to spot for all things sweet. We love the service, quality and everything in between. Shoutout to the Bleecker location and the gems in that store - we love you ❤️

This is such a cute spot for a little sweet treat. There are so many flavors to choose from and it's really difficult to decide. I ended up getting the Ron Bennington (PB Chocolate) and the Cookie Monster (cookie dough). There were both so good and have such a nostalgic cake and frosting. I'm definitely gonna have to come back and try more flavors.

Not sure the hype here. Came here to grab a few dozen cupcakes. Service is lovely but the cupcakes themselves are denser than normal, and frosting is very heavy and sweet. For me it wasn't the right balance of flavors for either the cake or the frosting. Glad I tried but not sure I would come here again.

I recently picked up a dozen cupcakes from here to celebrate a coworker's birthday. All the flavors are so good! They have plain build-your-own options (ex.: vanilla cake + vanilla frosting, etc.) and a ton of more special cupcakes (ex.: Boston Cream Pie). Good customer service and pretty affordable for how high-quality it is.

No exaggeration, the salted caramel butterscotch cupcake is the best cupcake I've ever had in my life. A coworker brought them into work so I can't speak on the customer service or anything else but that damn cupcake is awesome sauce!

Once you eat one of these cupcakes... you wouldn't want to go back to any others. Their cupcakes are full with flavors. Try it. I got the peach cobbler, apple pie, peanut butter Nutella, and Boston's crème flavor cupcakes. I enjoyed the peach cobbler the most. My least was the Boston crème one. I would say the peanut butter Nutella came second and apple pie third place. Boston crème was good but needed more crème in the middle. I went to an event two days later and they had stop and shop cupcakes. I could not bring myself to have one stop and shop cupcake. I remembered the taste of Mollys cupcake. What makes Molly cupcake special is that , not only do they taste scrumptious, they are original. Mollys was inspired by a third grade teacher. I will say that it is certainly worth to try! They do not disappoint. Staff were very kind. Lovely ambiance. This location is located in Bleecker street, Manhattan. Near West 4th!

These cupcakes are so yummy!! I have a new favorite .. they're light fluffy, crispy.. all the flavors and textures hit!! They are SO good. The filling inside ... ahh they have it down to perfection here. Trust me try it. I keep thinking about the strawberry one but they were all delicious and I stopped in 3 different times in the last month.. such a treat. I want to order a cake from here soon .. so happy I found this shop :)

We love Molly's. Stopped there to get a few cupcakes for my kids. Usually I get buttermilk icing. Very yummy. Sitting there is ok but can feel loud & is always very stuffy. But the girls serving are usually nice & helpful although they can let their hip attitude take the better of them. Still my family's fav local place.

This is the ultimate cupcake shop. I first heard of it from Oprah's favorite's list. These cupcakes quickly became my favorite in NYC with just one bite. My must try list: Cake Batter, Creme Brulee, Peach Cobbler, and Blueberry Cheesecake. The service is always quick with a smile unless they are delivering the sold out news. Come early!!!! The ambiance is casual and inviting. Stay for 5 minutes or an hour you are always welcome.

I will preface this review by saying that I am not someone who goes out of their way to seek out cupcakes. As a dessert genre that is sort of designed to be cute, I so often find them to be more aesthetically pleasing than delicious. Molly's, though, is located quite close to me, and one night recently when passing by I was compelled to stop in and get an assortment of cupcakes for no particular reason. My partner and I cut them into pieces and did a fun little taste test. All of the flavors were good, but the most memorable for me was the "Ron Bennington" (chocolate cake, peanut butter filling, chocolate ganache, crushed butterscotch topping). Part of what I don't like about a lot of cupcakes is the cloying sweetness- and this one is less sweet and more rich. This is definitely what I will choose next time I want to indulge in solo cupcake and Netflix time. Surprisingly, another favorite for both of us was the plain 'ol chocolate mini cupcakes with white frosting. They are so simple, so classic, and perfectly executed with just the right balance of rich chocolate cake and sweet icing. This is definitely what I'll choose next time I need to pick up something to bring to a dinner or party. Overall though, the most notable thing about all of the flavors we tried was that Molly's cupcakes taste of REAL ingredients. You immediately notice that the frosting is made of real butter --so... much... butter-- and that nothing appears an unnaturally bright color or bears the unmistakable aftertaste of food coloring. I think this is what sets Molly's apart from some other nearby purveyors of cupcakes like Baked By... well, you know who.

Wow. These were legit the best cupcakes I've ever eaten. The cake itself is delish and has fun, flavorful fillings. The frostings and toppings are complementary and beautiful! So lucky to have had my company cater them for a work event. Will be ordering cupcakes from here!!

I really enjoyed the cake butter cupcake. It has a surprise so make sure you have napkins. The cake was very soft and warm. The decor feels like I'm in an episode of friends. Ladies this is definitely a place you wear your uggs to and get sweet treats. For my guys this is definitely where you take a girl. You'll get points for this. Shout out to Molly's cupcake but not Molly at the counter because she seemed like she didn't want to be bothered today but I guess that's just New York right?

A favorite of mine in West Village. Quality cupcakes that are moist and delicious. Regardless of the flavor cupcake you get, I'm sure it'll be a hit. Even if there's a line, service is quick and easy. The restaurant has a decent amount of seating and is nice too. A place I've gone to multiple times!

Stopped in on a food tour and WOW! The flavors are creative and all sound delish. My taster cupcake was perfectly moist and flavorful. The mini was plenty for me - I assume you have to ask for these? I'm not a red velvet fan but the one I tried here was delish. Great place to satisfy a sweet tooth!

I was in the neighborhood yesterday and always looking for dessert places that offer gluten free options for my wife. Came across this one place that serves cupcakes and was told they have flourless molten chocolate cupcake that is supposed to be scrumptious. I bought one of that and a blueberry cheesecake regular cupcake. Both my wife and son enjoyed their treats. Each was going for about $3.75 plus tax when seems fair. Aside from these two, they have at least 10 other options for selection. You can also get a plain cupcake and add your choice of frosting and topping.

The cupcakes were delish - I especially liked the buttercream ones. My favorite was the chocolate cupcake with buttercream frosting and white chocolate shaving. Decadent, moist, and yummy goodness. The red velvets with cream cheese filling were my second favorite. I am normally not a cupcake fan, because I had my fair share of overly sweet frosting, with dry cupcakes. However, this was love at first bite. The cupcake was moist all the way through. The buttercream was just the right amount of sweet and fluffy.

My new favorite cupcake in town!! I have been wanting to try this place for years ever since I heard they had a cake batter-filled cupcake. I loooove anything cake batter/birthday cake/funfetti vibes, so I'd been dying to try, but I somehow just hadn't made it around to trying until tonight. But boy, it did not disappoint! The filling literally tastes like fresh cake batter straight from the mixing bowl; so nostalgic! I liked the buttercream frosting, but it wasn't my favorite part (though my friend thought it was a little much/ too thick, and I noticed some other people had scooped their frosting off of this cupcake, too). I thought it overall was perfect though! I also liked that the cupcake itself was lighter / not too dense. I would use a fork next time haha; it got a little messy/out of hand once I got to the center (but it was sooo good). I am 1000% going to make this a new go-to; I don't think I'll be able to walk past it again without stopping in for a cake batter cupcake! Also, bonus points for their cute swing seats :)

Everything you want in a cupcake! Moist, tender, decent frosting. What's not to like? I got the key lime pie cupcake and it was great. Nothing to complain about. Plenty of seating inside. Service was good.

The best Double Dash find ever! Each cupcake is its own work of art. The most moist, light, and airy cake I have ever eaten, hands down. The creme brûlée was my favorite... the glaze retained the iconic crack sensation of its namesake. The service of the packaging was perfect, recyclable, and preserved all of the delicate masterpieces. I can't wait to try more flavors.

The first time I ever visited this place, I tried Creme Brulée, it was so good that I kept coming back for the same flavor. Yesterday, I tried Chocolate Decadence, and now it's my new favorite! These are honestly the best cupcakes I've had in New York. They are soft and moist with the perfect balance of flavors without being too sweet. There's still so many different flavors I want to try!

This place is so cute! We love the "school" theme with all the décor. The tables look like old school student desks and the "bar" area seating is made up of swings that give a nod to the playground. The names of the flavors are given superlatives such as "Best Smile". They have some great flavors and if there isn't one that fits your fancy, you can also do a build your own by choosing from the cake flavors and icing flavors on their menu. What we ordered: - Blueberry Cheesecake "Best Smile" - Vanilla cake infused with classic cheesecake, cinnamon graham cracker crumb, pastry cream and glazed blueberry toppings - Crème Brulee "The Foreign Exchange Student" - Vanilla cake, classic crème brulee custard, caramelized sugar coating and glazed berries - Samoa "Class Trouper" - Vanilla cake with coconut caramel filling dipped in dark chocolate ganache topped with caramel buttercream and shortbread chunks - Ron Bennington "Most Likely to Succeed" - Chocolate cake with peanut butter filling, chocolate ganache and crushed butterscotch topping - Build Your Own - Carrot cake and Cream Cheese frosting. We even got a little sample of the Brown Butter frosting on the side and it was divine. We came in pretty late and it looks like some of the flavors were sold out but we still managed to snag a good amount, looking forward to coming back and trying out more. Only thing I would suggest is more drink options that don't have caffeine, for those who are coming later in the day. Possibly some school sized mini cartons of milk, to play into the theme? Eating all of these sweets did make us pretty thirsty. My partner ended up ordering a coffee and although they did not sell milk per se they did have it for the coffee drinks and they were nice enough to give us a half a mug of milk on the side which he gave to my sister. They also have cups and a self service water dispenser for you to use as well.

I was so excited to find a Molly's in NYC! I have been to the one in Chicago. It is by far my favorite cupcake spot ever! All of their cupcakes are moist and delicious! Their icing is perfect--oftentimes for cupcakes the frosting is super sugary--too sugary that it overwhelms the cake--not here--at Molly's the icing is a perfect pairing for the cupcake. Get the Ron Bennington--thank me later. Its my favorite cupcake!

I really love the cupcakes here. Service is always excellent, everyone is friendly and helpful. I recently stopped in to pick up some cupcakes to bring to work. The minis are great because they aren't too small but just enough to have a little treat. I love that you can mix and match the frosting and cake flavors. I absolutely adore the French buttercream, it's almost like whipped cream and goes perfectly with the vanilla or red velvet cake. I love hanging out in the there when its quiet and enjoying a cupcake. I used to order the filled cupcakes-love the cake batter and especially the peach cobbler. If you're in the area, definitely stop by. It's in a pretty easy to find location right on Bleecker and 6th ave.

I thought the cupcakes here had good flavor, but the cakes were a little dense for my taste. I loved their selection of flavors, but I wish I got to try the creme brûlée cupcake, but they were unfortunately all out by the time I got there. The shop itself is cute, and they have a good selection of cupcakes. I ended up getting the blueberry cheesecake, salted butterscotch caramel, chocolate sea salt caramel, strawberry shortcake, Boston cream, and raspberry cream. Some of the flavors I didn't love, like both of the caramel cupcakes. but I really liked the raspberry cream cupcake and the blueberry cheesecake cupcake, although the cakes were denser than I would have liked. I would probably come back here sometime if I ever want cake in New York City, as it is pretty good amongst cakes I have tried there.

Tried a variety of different flavors from Molly's Cupcakes on a food tour. I would say that the carrot cake cupcake was the best by far. Loved the entire atmosphere of place.

So delicious!!! The cupcakes were so moist that you absolutely needed a fork to eat them (in a good way!). We tried a 4 pack and all of the flavors were delicious but the flourless chocolate one was my favorite. The best part of the cupcake was the frosting! It wasn't overwhelming sweet and really let the cupcake shine!

I'm not usually a cupcake gal, but ever since I had Molly's cupcakes more than 10 years ago, it has been my fav cupcake place. I love the fact that they stuff it with filling which makes for a more delectable experience. My fav has to be the crème brûlée. The moist cake, with the sugary delicate top, and creamy filling was cupcake heaven. They make custom cake orders to the size you need as well! I had a crème brûlée cake for 25 people done over 5 years ago and still remember all the guests saying how delicious it was. The interior is quite spacious with a bunch of tables to sit on as well swinging chairs by the bar counter. 10/10 I do recommend! Get the crème brûlée!

Move over Magnolia Bakery (though I still love your Banana Pudding). Molly's is hands down the best cupcake I've had in town. You really can't go wrong with any of their flavors. The cake itself is very moist, and I love how most of their varieties have a filling which increases the frosting to cake ratio (the fatal flaw of most cupcakes). They have a wide range of flavors from rich and decadent to light(er) and fruity, depending on your hankering of the day. Grab a friend and split several varieties. You'll for sure have yourselves a time :)

Our Greenwich Village food tour ended at Molly's, and we popped in for a sweet treat after some delicious savory foods. The shop is named for the owner's elementary school teacher, Molly, and there are elementary school themes that run through the shop, like indented areas on each table for pencils and the use of school bus yellow. Super cute. There are also swings at the counter as seating - they were surprisingly comfortable! The cupcakes themselves were fine. I use red velvet and chocolate as my barometers at any cupcake shop, because they're prevalent, but also easy to mess up. These were a little dry. In all, the cupcakes were good, but nothing special. I would go back just for the theme, but I probably wouldn't go too far out of my way to return.

They lured us in with a sign that said "Cupcakes that Sleigh" (and they had a bathroom). We were steered toward Cookie Monster and Cake Batter when inquiring about the most popular ones, so we got both. Cupcakes were delicious with an extra surprise of filling in the middle! The cake batter & cookie dough filling made the cupcake. Cupcakes were great, however, the best part of Molly's cupcakes was the swing seating at the bar!!!

This is the 2nd time I ordered cupcakes for some of my staff. The people here are so nice and accommodating and they have great prices. The cupcakes are delicious. I wanted navy blue cupcakes. I love the way they frosted them differently like I asked (extra fee but worth it). I did the gold edible beading myself as they don't do that kind of decorating, but if I can do it any one can!

Still my favorite cupcake spot of all time! I've been coming here for over a decade. They have timeless, classic flavors and also fun limited ones on rotation. The interior is pretty wide but feels larger thanks to the larger mirrors. The peach cobbler cupcake here is my all time favorite! These are pretty amazing cupcakes! Tried the blueberry cheesecake and crème brûlée, both were so good and not too sweet. The crème brûlée is my favorite cause it had yummy custard inside, was so delicious with coffee! I got two cupcakes with cortado came to around $13. Staff were friendly, and school theme decor inside, I can't wait to try the other flavors!

They won cupcake wars and for a reason!! Came here to try their infamous peaches and cream cupcake and it was fantastic. Not to sweet and the perfect embodiment of a peaches and cream pie inside a cupcake. Will definitely be back when I'm craving a sweet treat!

I got the peach cobbler and cream cheese cupcakes and they were sooo good, especially for $4. NYC is expensive af and I've recently been to a place that sells cupcakes tinier than this for $6 so having something more affordable and delicious definitely put thus as one of the better cupcake places I've been where I don't have to walk away with too much guilt. Service is pretty quick when there aren't lines and the servers are so nice. The bakery has a lot of seating and even cute swing ones near the bar area. I recommend if you're in the area and want something sweet!

Molly's isn't your basic grocery store cupcake. They are rich, dense, and packed. Maybe a little too packed. Some of the cupcakes feel a bit too thick and sweet, and a few of the flavor profiles lean so nuanced that they almost overcomplicate things. They're still high-quality and creative, and the fillings are a nice touch. If you prefer a lighter, more balanced cupcake, you might need to be selective with your choices, but if you love bold, indulgent flavors, this place will hit the spot. Try not to overboard like I did and eat 6 in one sitting. You may regret it.

My brother and I stopped in here for cupcakes and I ordered the salted caramel butterscotch and s'mores. He ordered cake batter and s'mores. I am not a cupcake person as I did not understand the hype UNTIL... I had these cupcakes. The cupcakes were perfectly moist, light, the frosting was amazing as was the filling. I have NEVER had a more perfect cupcake in my life and now this place is my gold standard. The only problem is I live in Houston which makes it a little bit of a far trek however it's worth it. Best cupcakes EVER!!

The place is pretty big too, with a decent amount of seating, so you can take your cupcake to go or grab a drink and stay awhile. Service is always quick and friendly. Best cupcakes in the city! There has not been a flavor I have not tried. Every time I go to West Village, I try a new flavor. Favorite flavors have been the samoa, the peach cobbler, and the crème brulee. The place has a lot of seating and the staff is friendly. They also have great drinks that pair well with the cupcakes.

Ambience is very upbeat and the cupcakes were super delicious, as well as the mocha. I definitely would love to stop by here again. Service is excellent and the lady working here is very cheerful and sweet. Only comment is bathroom needs some help and cleaning.

These are excellent cupcakes - not too sweet, and very moist cake. I've been to the original location in Iowa many times and had nearly every flavor, these are identical. The best I would say is the creme brulee, very subtle flavoring, just fresh and delicious. The only negative for me was that the counter where the swings are was totally covered by dozens of Tupperwares of unfrosted cupcakes. I don't know if this was temporary or they just don't have the storage, but I thought it was messy looking and you couldn't sit at the bar.

I'm usually very anti- cupcake as they're usually dry, or have too much icing, or just are pretending to be a piece of cake and don't succeed. Mollys Cupcakes rock. I got the peach cobbler cupcake, and the icing was light, the cupcake was moist, the inside cobbler was just the right amount (somehow not making the cupcake soggy?). They also have coffee and various hot beverages. Although many people come through, there's plenty of seating and the workers are efficient. You can also build your own cupcake but I didn't want to choose poorly so I went with what was the award winning cupcake. You should too.

Stopped by randomly and it is so cute in there. They have swing seating and the tables look like desks. Gave me classroom vibes and the staff was friendly while I tried to figure out what I wanted. I'm not a big fan of cupcakes with filling inside which is why I gave it a 4/5 stars but if you like that, Molly's is the place for you. I ended up choosing the cake batter cupcake one and the filling inside tasted like cake batter. I love cake batter so that was an exciting flavor to taste. I'll definitely go back to try a couple more because the cupcakes are cute and not ridiculously sweet.

I should preface that I am biased because I am not a big cupcake person. Molly's Cupcakes has very interesting and a variety of flavors! Taste is better than your standard grocery bought super sugary sweet cupcakes. You can really taste the richness of the buttercreams. The actual cake is soft and not too sweet. The frosting however can be too sweet depending on which one of the cupcakes you get. I could not taste much of the center filling sadly.
