The 11 Best Restaurants In Marina Del Rey

"What this casual spot lacks in curb appeal (it’s under a block of condos on the Playa Vista/MDR border) it makes up for with its concept. Mom, Please is part coffee shop, part Ukrainian restaurant, and part frozen dumpling supplier. In addition to the beef-filled pelmeni and varenyky slicked in olive oil, the massive bowl of borscht is a must-order. The ruby-colored beet soup arrives hot with chunks of cabbage, potatoes, and carrots, which turns pinkish once you swirl in the whipped sour cream dollop on top. There’s seating inside the small dining room—which we’d affectionately describe as "coastal cottagecore”—but the umbrella-shaded sidewalk patio overlooks a peaceful little park, so grab a table outside if you can. Google
Horrendous parking, but the outside had this cozy sunflower wall and the food was perfect! I've never had Ukrainian food before and didn't know what to expect, but everything was so delicious and savory that I went back inside to order dessert. The cheesecake was also one of the best I've had, it has little crust so it was light and moist!

If you want to eat real delicious Ukrainian food, you have to go to “Mom, please” restaurant in LA. It has modern interior and cuisine, really good looking traditional Ukrainian dishes and amazing service, where client is always right and sutisfied. My recommendations are: borsch, holubtsi, mlyntsi(crepes) and syrnyky

Tucked away in the heart of Playa Vista, MOM, PLEASE feels like a warm hug from your babushka--if your babushka was a master in Ukrainian comfort food. We tried the mushroom dumplings in a rich cream sauce--pillowy, earthy, and full of flavor. Each bite was a nostalgic blend of hearty ingredients and home-cooked love. Next came the savory crepes, perfectly golden and crisp on the outside, wrapped around a tender, savory filling and swimming in more of that addictive sauce. A generous sprinkle of herbs on both dishes brought brightness to the richness. Everything here tastes like it was made with care, right down to the plating. The setting is casual, cozy, and perfect for a leisurely lunch or comforting dinner. Portions are generous, so come hungry--or bring someone you love and share. Must-try: The mushroom dumplings Perfect for: Comfort food cravings, casual date nights, or catching up with family over soul-satisfying dishes.

If you’re craving authentic Ukrainian comfort food, Mom, please is an absolute gem. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with beautiful sunflower decor that instantly lifts your mood. We tried the syrnyky (cheese pancakes) — perfectly golden, soft inside, and served with fresh berries and a delicate cream sauce. Absolutely delicious! The borscht was rich and hearty, paired just right with slices of salo, rye bread, green onion, and garlic — a true traditional experience. Whether you grew up with Ukrainian food or are discovering it for the first time, this place is a must-visit.

This place is terrific! Both modern and authentic traditional food, trendy Ukrainian music, and good design. Both food and the atmosphere were very home-like and our American friend also loved the selection.

This place is a small part of Kyiv and its great food culture in LA. Delicious & good looking, just like anyone from Ukraine is used to! Love it every time I come here. 🥹 Great job to the team and the founders!

A warm, cozy… Thank you for food. It brought back familiar flavors I’ve missed so much. savoring every bite, as it was both tasty and filled with comforting memories. We stocked up on pierogies and syrniki to take home. We’ll definitely be back again…

Such a cute location. Playa Vista is one of fave cities in LA. For families, Playa Vista is a dream. The neighborhood is clean, safe, and loaded with kid-friendly parks and community events. Pet owners also love the area for its dog parks and welcoming atmosphere. Nature lovers will appreciate the Ballona Wetlands and the nearby beach bike path that connects all the way to Santa Monica. This Ukrainian restaurant nestled beneath a residential complex has become a cherished spot for both locals and Ukrainian expatriates. Founded by a Ukrainian family who sought refuge in LA, the establishment serves as a culinary homage to their homeland . My most fave is the syrnyky—lightly sweetened cheese pancakes accompanied by fresh berries and honey—a must-try. The best pancake I’ve had—small, and not too sweet. Authentic, and very homey!

Yelp
As good as it gets One of the best lattes I've had in a while and the cabbage perogies were excellent

Yelp
An excellent neighborhood spot in Playa Vista... note, it's the first floor of an apartment complex on a weird roundabout street. There is limited street parking but there are several parking structures nearby. Also note... it's a counter order--server delivered place. There are only 4 tables inside but most are outside on the lovely heated patio (they even have blankets for cooler days). The coffee is excellent.. barista made, freshly ground roasted beans, all around a-plus. The food is good. Portion sizes are excellent. Ok.. some of the food is premade and warmed...I had cabbage rolls, dumplings and blintzes... but they were all excellent. If a home cook made these items at home, most likely they would prep a lot of these items and warm them for serving... that is what happens here. The food is fresh, comes out hot and delicious, and has great presentation and flavors. The staff is kind and warm. I recommend it as a cute and out quiet little corner of Playa Vista. (It was very busy on a Saturday afternoon at 1230pm in January).

Yelp
one of the worst restaurant experiences, total disappointment with the taste of the food. 1. potato dumplings - what you put inside is some kind of tasteless liquid with grains. 2. cabbage rolls - they were frozen and not heated inside, the taste of the ground meat was also not tasty. 3. Deruny with salmon. only the salmon was edible. the deruny themselves tasted and had the texture of a rubber boot sole. 4. bagel with caviar - only this one was normal, because it is difficult to spoil this dish. only because of this one I gave 2* instead of 1*. $140 with n/a drinks is not cheap for such tasteless food. Unfortunately, all the dishes ordered were tasteless. Ukrainian cuisine has a completely different pleasant taste, but this restaurant does not have it.

Yelp
Cute little place! First time trying Ukranian food. Ordered the popular items. All were delicious. Service is great. A little on the pricey side.

Yelp
Dare I say - one of my favorite lowkey, cafe spots in my immediate neighborhood. Mom, Please is serving Ukranian food, an under represented but incredibly flavorful cuisine of food in the LA area with a very cute neighbood ambiance tucked away in Playa Vista. As a lover of all varynky and dumplings and coffee, it reminds me of my boyfriend's grandma's home cooking! The dumplings were amazing and the beef rolled cabbage (Sorry I'll spell it wrong) was amazing. They're all light bites but satisfying. I'd even love to come and try their pizza. This place needs more attention and love because of its unique food that's done right!

Yelp
Fabulous experience this weekend, definitely coming back ASAP! We love Ukrainian food and this place did not disappoint! I absolutely devoured my potato dumplings (varenyky). I loved my mom's crepes with mushrooms. And I mega loved the cherry varenyky for dessert. Also had the kvas and morse drinks which were the perfect compliment. Service here was great. You order at the counter and take a number for an outdoor table, they will bring it when ready. The outdoor patio has space heaters and blankets and felt so cozy.

Yelp
Food 5/5: my favorite restaurant. Period. I don't want to say too much because I don't want this place to blow up so I can still enjoy my peace and quiet here and eat without waiting. But oh my goodness SO GOOD. The price is on the little high side but honestly everything is SO WORTH IT! Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5

Yelp
The restaurant is low-key and very small. But the restaurant is fresh and clean. You can park at the parking garages that says "GUEST PARKING". So parking is super easy. You don't have to park on the street or in front of the restaurant like other reviews said. The staff said the garages are available. I would say the beet soup is very good and hearty. It has beef and comes with a side of pork belly, and tea bread with sour cream. The chicken and mushroom is the thing you must order because that is their signature! Other dishes are much less important. I also had the beef cabbage rolls but the mushroom chicken crepe is the better dish. Overall the staff is friendly. The dishes are small for an expensive price though so I won't be coming here often.

Yelp
This place is beautiful and the ambiance is very welcoming. I am not familiar with Ukrainian food but I saw that they serve breakfast so I gave it a go. I ordered my go to Flat White and their espresso delivers on quality and taste, I ordered 3 items on their menu with my friend and all 3 were delicious! We're definitely heading back for another brunch visit to try other items on the menu. I still am not sure what Ukrainian food is because our plates looked very American breakfast and the flavors were more California brunch-y but good nonetheless.

Yelp
Extremely rude service. I waited for ever at the counter, standing right in front of them, yet nobody is there to take my order or even talk to me. While all of them seem to work at the counter taking orders, they also are busy with other things like making coffee/ delivering food to other customers, or doing whatever. Yet, that is no reason they don't even address me and just let me stand in front of the counter. Not even a "one moment, we'll come in a min". Even after I try to get their attention, nobody even gives a f*ck. See attached photo, no one at the counter.

Yelp
I've never had Ukrainian food ever but this place makes me want to try more! Everything felt more home-y comfort like to me. It was all so good!

Yelp
My first experience with Ukrainian cuisine at @mompleaselabrea was spectacular! Each dish offered a comforting blend of flavors that transported me straight to the of Ukraine We started off with Pelmeni- delicate beef-filled dumplings that were perfectly tender. The buttery texture paired w/ a rich cheese sauce was a delight in every bite. A dollop of sour cream on the side added a tangy note that complemented the dish beautifully, while a sprinkle of fresh parsley provided the perfect finish Mylntsi- crepe filled with savory chicken & earthy mushrooms, was equally impressive. A warm, satisfying dish that managed to be both hearty & refined, w/ each bite revealing layers of flavor that left me craving more Borsht- deep, vibrant broth w/ tender beef and vegetables. Each spoonful was a comforting, flavorful experience, enhanced by fluffy pampushka bread and salo. The sour cream also provided a creamy balance Syrnyky- fluffy cottage cheese pancakes in berry sauce that offers an explosion of sweetness and tartness, complemented by a crunch from nuts Strawberry Matcha- refreshing surprise, blending earthy matcha w/ the sweetness of strawberries making it a perfect palate cleanser Passionfruit Mango Cake- a visual & culinary masterpiece by the talented @dinarakasko , this geometric cake had tropical flavors beautifully balanced Everything was so good that I had to bring desserts home! Ukrainian cheesecake- rich & creamy, offering a delicate balance of sweetness. The tiramisu, equally indulgent, brought a familiar yet distinctive touch to the meal. The walnut cookie w/ its hazelnut filling was the perfect finale - a sweet, nutty treat that left me thoroughly satisfied The service at Mom, Please was impeccable, w/ every detail and question thoughtfully attended to by the warm & welcoming staff. The cozy ambiance made me feel as if I was dining in a Ukrainian home- surrounded by friends & family. If you've never explored Ukrainian cuisine, @mompleasela is the perfect place to start. The love & care poured into every dish makes it an unforgettable dining experience that I highly recommend. Instagram: @hungrytamale

Yelp
AN AWESOME FIND TUCKED IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE!! UKRAINIAN FOOD ANYONE??? OMG! What a find! We visited this restaurant on a friend's suggestion and were we amazed. Great food, great environment and friendly, cute staff too. I had the HOLUBTSI with TURKEY which is Turkey Stuffed Cabbage and PELMINI with CHICKEN which is kind of like a pierogi stuffed with chicken. The filling kind of had a chicken mushroom taste. All food served was EXCELLENT. I then decided to spring for a desert which was ABSOLUTE HEAVEN!!! We had SYRNYKY WITH BERRY SAUCE OR CUSTARD these are a light crepe dough filled with a very smooth cottage cheese. AMAZING does not do this dish justice. Outdoor seating is great and I would highly recommend this place.

Yelp
The Borscht and their coffee was Chef's kiss. I am happy I found this lil restaurant. It is in a really nice location near a quaint lil park.

Yelp
The food was delicious. Our server was very helpful since we were not familiar with the cuisine. We sat outside on the patio with heaters around to keep us comfortable. Indoor seating is very limited with only 3-4 person tables available. We had a 5 person party. I had the borscht. So good! Served with rye bread. YUM! My husband had a salmon dish. He inhaled it! We got dumplings for the table. Found out you can buy frozen ones to have at home. Can't wait to tell more people so we can go have a party again!

Yelp
We were up in LA running some errands and wanted to grab something to eat. After a quick check on Yelp, we found this place. What a cute and charming spot. It is kinda hidden within a residential area so you won't see it if you're not specifically coming to this area. It was my first time having Ukrainian food. I've had Russian and Romanian food before and it's similar, but this place really does a great job. Everything we had was delicious and light. *Borscht served with a light fluffy roll and little pieces of cured meat (bacon-like) *Mlyntsi (crepes) with salmon *Varenyky (dumplings) stuffed with potato, in a mushroom sauce and lots of chopped parsley. I would definitely come back again if we were in the area!

Yelp
The cutest Ukrainian cafe around LA! Prices are definitely high but the food is high quality and prepared fresh form your order. You can taste the love and care they put into everything. The restaurant is a quaint shop with a fair number of outdoor tables and a couple indoor. You order at the counter and they bring the food out to your number. The food is made fresh and that is reflected in the wait time, we waiting around 15-20 minutes for even our lattes. We ordered the holubtsi(cabbage rolls), chicken pelmeni, deruny(potato pancakes with salmon) and potato dumplings. It was all amazing!!! The portions are on the smaller size but we were still very satisfied at the end of the meal. Our favorite was the Deruny. The potato pancakes were so crispy and tasty, and the smoked salmon on top was some of the best smoked salmon I have ever had. The dish was topped off with a dill sauce that was incredible. A close second we're the cabbage rolls. They served three rolls in a sauce and each was packed with flavor. The dishes were a little on the pricier side for their size and the wait was slightly long. The outdoor tables were in front of a park and the place is so cute we didn't mind waiting at all while we chatted. I would recommend this for a breakfast or brunch date! Plus most of the staff are Ukrainian so I appreciate supporting them.

Yelp
Cute place with great tasting food! Not a lot of space inside, but more tables outside, good for brunch. You order at the counter. street parking available Having never had Ukrainian food before, this was high on our list of places to try, and we are glad we did! The dumplings, cabbage rolls, and cheese rolls (can't remember exact menu name) were all super tasty and well cooked. The sour cream gave it all an extra layer on top of the existing sauces. Reminded me of home cooking that an old eastern European coworker would bring for us, doesn't get any better than home styled cooking! Would come back and try some of the other interesting dishes and sweeter breakfast items as well!

Yelp
This is first time to eat Ukraine foods. It's amazing foods and atmosphere. It was great service also. Definitely recommend here. I will coming back again.

Yelp
Very beautiful interior, most tables outside, but cozy and stylish. There are blankets if you get cold. Polite and friendly staff. Insanely delicious food, beautiful table setting. We were very pleased. And we will definitely come again.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm not too experienced with Ukrainian food but growing up my best friend was Ukrainian and even though her families food was the only experience I had I'm glad I got to come to this spot to explore the culture more. The food was slightly more elevated yet was still comforting. We got the syrnyky and potato varenyky with an espresso shot on the side. The varenyky was savory, creamy, earthy and filling. The syrnyky we got with the berry sauce and it was moist, slightly cheesy and sweet. The sauce was mild and not over powering which I was worried about. Overall lighter than expected in a good way. Reminds me of a fluffy cheesecake. The only thing that was a bit of a miss was the espresso shot. It was quite sour but if you're into that you will like it. TIP: there is a parking garage in the back of the parking lot. Food: 4.5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambience: 4.5/5

Yelp
We were in town from out of state for a wedding, and the state we're from does not have the luxury of having ultra specific (or even just regular specific) international cuisines. We jumped at the opportunity to try Ukrainian food, especially one with such great reviews as this one. We got all sorts of things from the menu, wanting to try everything. We all fell deep in love with the dumplings. They were so wonderfully tender and juicy and perfect. However many you get, get more; you won't regret it. Any of the varieties they have will be great. The atmosphere is super cute, we got to eat outside in their patio. The staff was friendly and helpful. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Yelp
Cute rustic spot in Marina Del Rey. This was my friends and I's first time trying Ukrainian food and we all loved it! We ordered: Holubtsi (cabbage rolls) w/ beef ($18): 5/5 tender beef mixed w rice and vegetable wrapped in cabbage and stewed in a warm tomatoey sauce - so delicious! We kept dipping the varenyky in the sauce because it was so good Varenyky w/ potato ($22): 4.5/5 comforting dumplings filled w mashed potato in a mushroom cream sauce good, but even better dipping it in the holubtsi sauce Deruny (potato pancakes) w/ salmon ($22): 4/5 tender potato pancakes in a creamy dill sauce served w salmon - reminded me of a hash brown but not as crispy - felt light and delicious tho! Medovik (honeycake) ($10.50): 5/5 caramely, graham crackery flavor that was not too sweet and paired so well w the berries! Waffle Roll w caramel ($3.50): 3/5 dulce de leche type caramel wrapped in a soft waffle cone - a little too sweet for me but really great texture that didn't stick in your teeth plenty of parking in the guest lot a little past the restaurant is a plus!! I want to come back to try more varenyky and the crepes!!! - also service was amazing and quick, our food came out within ten minutes of ordering. The total for 3 of us was about $70 without tip, but for the quality of food and to experience a new cuisine a must try!!

Yelp
**February 2024: Monday Night Visit** I've never had Ukrainian food so when my friend asked if we could try it I was on board! Parking is a challenge given the location of the restaurant. However, after driving through several streets we eventually found street parking and walked over. The shop itself is small, but homey. There were three tables inside with 2 chairs a piece. My friend and I decided to share the following to get a taste of the culture. Food Borsht ($18) - Beetroot cabbage soup - This soup had a beautiful purple/pink color and was a great way to warm up on a cold day. Caesar Chicken Salad ($18): The dressing was tossed well with the lettuce and spread evently throughout the dish. The chicken was also moist, not dry and worked well with everything. Varenyky with Potatoes ($22): Dumplings with a thick potato and mushroom filling. This was extremely hearty and flavorful. I think among all the dishes I would happily order this again. Syrnyky with Custard ($14) - 3 mini cottage cheese pancakes - I ordered this as a dessert to end the meal, but didn't care for the pancakes. It was really dense, but lacked flavor even with the custard sauce. I only ate the fruits that it came with. Summary Overall, it's a cute authentic mom n' pop shop in Los Angeles and I think it's a welcomed addition to the neighborhood!

Yelp
Everything is top notch. Love their coffee and breakfast options. Their pizza and dinner options are so good as well. Highly recommended

Heeju S.

Yelp
One of my favorite places for brunch near my neighborhood! I absolutely love their food!!! Go hungry because the portions are pretty big. I also love that they have a coffee bar and baristas that really know what they're doing. It's not often you find a place that does both coffee and food really well. Highly recommend visiting for your next brunch!!

Yelp
I have a love and hate relationship with this cafe. The ambiance? Perfect. Staff - amazing. They're so friendly that you'd think you'd known them for years. Seems like there could be nothing wrong with this place and I truly wish the owners and everyone who works here nothing but success yet I will not be back. We ordered their crepes and dumplings, each dish being very well made, but all portion sizes delivered to the table left my and my friends' stomachs very unsatisfied. Three tiny crepe rolls for around $20. As nice as it is this is not the kind of place where I see myself going to when I feel hungry. Even with a tiny plate of soup on the side, unless you fill the table with a ton of various dishes that will cost quite a bit it's just not a very satisfying lunch experience at "Mom, Please". My wife and I went to grab lunch at another place afterwards in a bit.
google avatar

Shannon N.

Yelp
I enjoyed our food here (though it took a really long time to come out, including a long wait for my friend's iced tea oddly). We shared the potato vareniki with mushrooms and the chicken pelmeni. This was enough for two of us, though the pricing seemed high. The dumplings were all cooked appropriately, and I adored the mushroom sauce on the potato vareniki. I really, REALLY wanted to try the cherry vareniki, but they do not offer a half portion and I didn't have any way to heat up leftovers later. I also was intrigued by the cottage cheese pancakes. I'd definitely return here, hopefully with more people so we could order more dishes. ;)

Yelp
Fantastically delicious and a bit of a hidden gem! Stopped by here when looking for somewhere to eat by LAX and thought this sounded unique and different - I haven't really had Ukrainian cuisine before, but decided to see what it was like. It's a small space, but also beautifully decorated and with a very cozy feel both inside and out - warm lighting, heaters outside, and fun artwork and decor lining the walls outside! The lady inside was very friendly and offered to explain anything on the menu to me if I had any questions, after asking me if it was my first time there. I decided to give some of the Varenyky dumplings a try, and found them to be absolutely delectable! The dumplings were ready within a few minutes, came with some sour cream on the side, and were such a simple and delicious light meal to enjoy! There's lots of other Ukrainian food staples available to order here, although I found the dumplings to be more than enough to leave me full! I had a great time enjoying the ambiance and the delicious food here, and I plan to return in the future and try more of the items - I'd love to see how the brunch is! With that being said, I certainly recommend checking it out!

Yelp
This place is AMAZING!!! Smaller indoor cozy seating vibe. Outside has one large seating but largest party is like 6 or 8 people. Such good comfort and home made food. The Potato Vernyky was so delicious- rich flavor with the mushroom sauce! The cottage cheese pancakes with the custard are a must try as well! My friend got the beet soup with the break that comes with the meat (soooo flavorful). Will be back again!'

Yelp
Mom Please is a solid option for good, ol' Ukrainian food with beautiful decor & tasty food. My family and I drove up from San Diego. We loved their halubtsi and vareniky. The borscht was great, too. Yet the menu still lacks several Ukrainian dishes like solyanka, chicken kyiv, deruny, linivi vareniky, nalisniky, etc. I was also hoping for more drink options like kisel, uzvar, and kvas. Most importantly, they do not serve real salo... just regular cured bacon. The frozen vareniky are $25 for 700ish grams. Rather outrageous pricing for so few pieces. The restaurant itself is pretty small though with only a few indoor tables. There were outdoor seating options; however, it was still cold despite the heaters. Only one of the servers spoke Ukrainian, and I believe he said that he wasn't even from there. Wish they hired more Ukrainians, especially with the mass influx of refugees.

Yelp
My first time having Ukrainian food. There were old Ukrainian couples celebrating birthdays and some other Ukrainian groups dining there so I assume it's authentic. The food service come out very slow but extremely delicious. Very cute plating as well.

Yelp
Loved it. So cute and hidden away at the ground floor of an apartment complex. Came on a weeknight and most tables were taken. Majority of seats is outdoors with heat lamps. We ordered at the counter. Loved the chicken and mushroom crepe bursting with mushroom flavors. Very much enjoyed the dumplings with the chewy skin. Loved the honey cake for dessert, sweet but not overwhelmingly sweet like some cakes. Will be back

Yelp
I had the absolute pleasure of frequenting this fabulous restaurant, alone for breakfast, while visiting family in Playa Vista. My server, Kateryna S., provided excellent customer service and suggestions. I ordered the Ukrainian Breakfast (Potatoes, mushrooms, two-egg omelette, chicken sausage, mixed salad with balsamic sauce, and tartare sauce on the side), Avocado Toast with Salmon (Sourdough bread, avocado spread, cream cheese, pesto, cherry tomatoes, radish, pickled pepper, lettuce leaves, arugula, salmon), and Espresso Macchiato. It definitely ranks in the top five breakfasts I've ever had in my entire life. What a wonderful gift to receive on this Giving Tuesday 2024! I eagerly anticipate returning during my next trip. Budmo!

Yelp
Excellent food! Excellent customer service! Super cute, cozy and clean. All about this place was a delight. We had a wonderful time. The food was fresh! You could taste the care with which was prepared and the the quality of ingredients. It was beautifully presented. I will definitively be coming back. Parking is a bit tricky, but do NOT be discouraged... there is a parking garage across the street and there was plenty of parking there on a Saturday afternoon. They are in Instagram and you can order via there and they deliver HIGHLY recommend.

Yelp
My friends and I were looking for dinner in the LA area. Upon looking for food options, we immediately stumbled across Mom, Please Ukrainian Food. We were drawn to the restaurant by it's unique name and excellent reviews, so we decided to drop by. The service here is fast. Despite the restaurant being half occupied, I was able to quickly place my order; I also received my food in a very reasonable amount of time. As for the food, it is absolutely delicious! The dumplings were skillfully wrapped and seasoned perfectly. Moreover, all the dressings on my savory crepes perfectly complemented the crepes. Overall, I would highly recommend Mom, Please Ukrainian Food for the cheeky name and excellent food.

Yelp
A very nice cafe-style Ukrainian food restaurant. Beyond 5 stars! The decor is very pretty. The server is very friendly. They have free wifi too. Parking was a bit tricky, not a lot of spaces when I went. I had some of the reccommended Ukrainian dishes and the traditional sweets. The cabbage rolls are my favorite. It's in the tomato sauce, very delicious! The sweets are very nice and worth a try. They have both cafe menu and food menu. A whole new experience! Really love it!

Yelp
Had dumplings, pizza and some dessert options. I accidentally ordered too much food but didn't feel sluggish and gross after I ate too much which I think is always a great sign. Customer service was also top notch. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Was craving slavic food, borscht in particular and this was the only available option on uber eats so i gave it a go. I ordered, Varenyky with potatoes: delicious. 9/10 they are both harty and light, as they should be. The dumpling dough was perfect and just enough filling. Borscht: 7/10 very good, hit the spot but not quite as flavorful as i like it. Waffle cake: great lil dessert bite. The condensed milk really comes through Would definitely recommend this business and i will be back to try more items certainly. I cannot comment on service nor ambiance but id imagine it is excellent. Slavic people usually really pride themselves in cleanliness and top service, i would know as i am slavic lol

Yelp
If you use Google maps like we did to try to find this place like we did you may become a bit confused as to where this place is. So here's a written version of how to get there from HWY 1. I also uploaded a section of Google maps for a visual. This place is located inside an apartment complex area. From HWY 1, make a right onto W Jefferson Blvd. Then make a left on Playa Vista Dr and then a left onto Fountain Park Drive. On the right hand side on Fountain Park you'll see an underground parking structure where there is guest parking. That's where we parked. Then walk up the ramp and swing a right and you'll see it. I must warn you - If you sit outside, particularly closer to the street area, there will be A LOT of flies. This isn't their fault, but it is super annoying when trying to enjoy their delicious food. In fact, it was so annoying that I think it distracts from the actual dishes. Next time I'm sitting inside or near the door (but because of the air conditioning, and they leave the door open, it's super loud). They are also on the more expensive side. We bought two matcha drinks at a little over $7 each and they weren't good. Not sure what grade matcha they use, but I wouldn't get this again. I took off a star because of this. Otherwise their food was fantastic. Just a note: There is a table outside with water, cups, napkins, and silverware. It's self served. You go inside to order and pay, they give you a number and you seat yourself. A server will come out with your food and any special drinks you order at the register. This is what we got: Carnivora ($26) - Creamy sauce, cheese, bacon, broccoli, chicken, pickled onions. I don't go for pizza but I would go back to try their other two pizzas because it was that good. Creamy, the dough was soft and fluffy, cooked evenly. Its a thin crusted pizza but there's some weight to it - so sometimes we forked and knifed it. Chewy, whatever cheese they used went really well with everything else. What's interesting is the pizza wasn't overloaded with ingredients and it was super delicious. Mlyntsi with Chicken and Mushrooms ($22) - Chicken, mushrooms, sauce, microgreens, parmesan. This was filling and very flavorful. I think they grounded the chicken and with whatever that sauce was, my goodness, it was good. Varenyky with Potatoes ($22) - Potatoes, mushroom sauce, butter, parsley, sour cream on the side. This, to me, tasted better than the Mlynsti. It was creamy, I loved the sour cream with it (in fact I dipped the Mlyntsi and pizza in this) and I really enjoyed the mushroom sauce. I really enjoyed the mushroom sauce in both dishes but it worked better with this dish. This restaurant is a gem. Go here and you won't be disappointed in the food. I really want to go back to try their pancakes!

Yelp
Not the friendlies stuff. Food was plain and overpriced. I'm Ukrainian and this is just not it. I would try to give them another chance in couple of months but this is the experience for now. Also asked for an ice tea and somehow they didn't have ice! What food place, that doesn't have ice? Apparently this one.

Yelp
It is a charming place with a delicious Ukrainian kitchen! The food, dishes, and atmosphere are excellent. I'm coming back here for the third time since I first opened this place for myself two weeks ago. Keep going!

Yelp
Such delicious food! I have been meaning to try Mom please Ukrainian for a while and just ordered this evening. The borscht was incredible and tasted just like babcias. The palmini were beautiful and the holubtsi so flavorful. I will definitely order again.

Yelp
First time trying Ukrainian food, really good first experience. The service was awesome, they gave really good recommendations about what to try. Went with a group of friends so had the opportunity to try various different items. Lost of unique flavors, little bit of everything.

Yelp
In a city with a dearth of Ukrainian food - I seriously couldn't name another Ukrainian restaurant with 100% certainty it's Ukrainian - this small cafe serves up what I believe are the staples of Ukrainian cuisine. You walk in and stand in line to order from some really friendly people and you find a table either inside or outside. The vibe, much like the area it's located in, feels lively and bright. I feel like I ordered well, even though I'm not really familiar with the cuisine. I got the borscht, syrnyky (pancakes) with berries and custard, and the pelmeni chicken dumplings. I loved the comforting, earthy taste of the borscht. I'm a big fan of dill, which I believe it's an underrated herb, and it really shined in this dish. It came with some bread, slices of pork, and a side of sour cream. I really thought this was just really well done. The pancakes were great. There is almost a tart flavor to it and love the texture and the mix of flavors from the custard and berries. I'm a big fan of dumplings in any culture. The pelmeni were structurally sound and had great flavor. Super well cooked and lovely with the side of sour cream. I would say a tad bit on the pricey side, but overall just a great experience and great food. If you're hankering for Ukrainian cuisine or just want to try it out, this place is the place for you.

Yelp
Cute little mom-and-pop place that was bustling with customers. As busy as they were, they were mindful of the customers waiting to place orders. We took our time browsing through the menu at the counter knowing that it would be a minute before we'd be helped, but we were kindly acknowledged by a number of the staff members as we waited. They were all friendly and helpful throughout our ordering and dining experience. We sat outside and thoroughly enjoyed the Borsch, Chicken Dumplings, Syrnyky with Custard and Berries. I'd give the food a solid 4.5. There aren't many Ukrainian joints in the area, so this was a pleasant and welcoming change-up in cuisine to the typical options around.

Yelp
Flavor+culture I got the chance to try Ukrainian food for the first time and I was not disappointed! The borscht was so flavorful that I used the bread to wipe the bowl. They even split it into two portions for my friend and me. The beef holubtsi (cabbage rolls) was killer! I didn't think I would like this so much. I had to stop myself from not splitting the 5th piece with my friend and from using a finger to wipe up what was left of the sauce. My mouth is watering just writing this. We also tried the medovik (honey cake) which reminded me of something from childhood that I still cannot put my finger on. I can't wait to go back to try more items on the menu!
