I come from Lancaster CA to check this food out and I like soul food but most times it's not done right. But WOW Mom's Haus does it right! I got the fried ribs and they were amazing. Seasoning was fantastic. At my table was bbq chicken, greens, corn bread, Mac n cheese, and potato salad. My party overall lived the food. The peach cobbler was also very good and sweet😋 . But the absolute best thing about this place was our host/waitress Vanessa she was absolute a delight and had such a wonderful attitude and presence about her. Please bring this place to Lancaster/Palmdale.

So happy to have a new restaurant in the neighborhood. There’s definitely nothing like it around. I had an AMAZING meal tonight, the atmosphere was amazing, decor was beautiful and the New Orleans music was the icing on the cake. My server was a very nice young man who was very accommodating. I will be coming back for the Big Easy Jambalaya I arrived a little too late and it was sold out, to me that’s a sure sign that I will be VERY PLEASED when I do get my hands on a bowl. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Google
It was very pricey for the portion but the food was great. I hate how their processes are antiquated. There is not online ordering nor is there a system for determining how long of a wait you will endure. I was told by Vanessa my food would be ready 20-25 minutes, it ended up taking close to an hour(exact total wait time 55 minutes). Most of the food was warm except for the shrimp, it was cold. As for the brisket, request lean if you don’t want fat because they will give you the pieces with fat and not good at all if you’re a meat person. Macaroni salad was amazing. The fries were also good. The shrimp was good too. I like how thick the shrimp was. The pork chop was plain it was still good. Overall the food was great. The customer service was alright. I believe I wouldn’t go back due to wait time because it was too long of a wait on that side of town after ordering.

Google
The first time was a great experience. The food was good. Give it a 9/10. Collard greens had a turkey bone in it, but besides that, it was A1. I loved the Mac and cheese.

Google
Absolutely amazing. I had the fried chicken with baked beans, potato salad, and corn bread. I also had lemonade and peach cobbler. The chicken was absolutely perfect - clearly freshly battered and fried, with a crunchy skin and moist, tender meat. The beans were superb, with a tangy barbeque flavor. Potato salad was excellently seasoned with a great texture. Cornbread was fresh, warm, and moist. Lemonade was great, not too sweet. Peach cobbler was not what I expected, but amazing nonetheless - it was served in a bowl as a type of hot soup. Overall I'd give this place a solid 5/5. I'll be telling everyone I know who visits Los Angeles to visit this great soul food place!

I recently visited Mom's Haus Hollywood for a dining experience that left me with mixed feelings. Here's a breakdown of my thoughts on the various aspects of the meal. Let's start on a positive note. The catfish nuggets at Mom's Haus Hollywood were undeniably a hit. With a perfect blend of crispy exterior and tender fish inside, they stood out as a flavorful and satisfying choice. The black-eyed peas, too, were a delightful surprise, offering a rich and tasty experience that added a positive touch to the overall meal. Unfortunately, the sides left something to be desired. While the catfish nuggets and black-eyed peas shone, the price point for the sides seemed a bit steep for the relatively small portions served. A reevaluation of the portion-to-price ratio could greatly enhance the overall value of the dining experience. My original choice of cabbage was met with disappointment when I was informed it was unavailable. Opting for the greens instead, I found them lacking the depth of flavor and tenderness I had hoped for. While not terrible, they certainly didn't elevate the meal as much as I had anticipated. The yams were another item that fell into the "just okay" category. While they weren't necessarily bad, they didn't leave a lasting impression. It might be worthwhile for Mom's Haus Hollywood to consider infusing a bit more flavor or creativity into this particular side dish. On a logistical note, the absence of to-go utensils was a surprising oversight. In the current environment, having these essentials readily available would undoubtedly enhance the overall customer experience. Despite these hiccups, I must commend the restaurant for its stellar customer service. The staff handled the situation well, and the wait time was reasonable, contributing to a positive atmosphere. In conclusion, Mom's Haus Hollywood offers a mixed bag of culinary experiences. While the catfish nuggets and black-eyed peas are definite winners, there's room for improvement in terms of side portions, consistency, and the availability of essential items. The fantastic customer service makes me inclined to give the restaurant another chance, but for now, I'd recommend an in-person visit to truly gauge the overall dining experience.

Google
First time having soul food in LA, it was LIT!! This was some of the best shrimp I've ever had. It was tender, crisp & fresh!! I had the catfish too but the shrimp is where it's at!! The customer service was bomb too, shorty with the locks gives good recommendations.

Google
Definitely, good vibes, the place just opened up. It is located inside parking lot complex behind Burger king. I order Mom's fried chicken with Mac and cheese and collard greens. The chicken was cook to perfection crispy and flavored well. They also have few selections on beer and wine with limited selection on hard liquor. Great place to watch sports they have 6 TV and they do offer happy hours monday to Friday 4-7. Definitely worth checking them out they also offer brunch. Ps. Junior was so welcoming and well knowledged. It was a pleasure being served by him. Will be back ASAP

Yelp
This place opened a few weeks ago and we live nearby and decided to go check it out today. The staff is super great. Service is fast, and the menu is large but not so large as to be overwhelming. The food is AMAZING. The best macaroni salad I've ever had. I got the Boudreaux Starter (shrimp and catfish with fries) and it is a very large portion. My bf got the bbq chicken. He loves it. Super great and reasonable price. Definitely check it out. The restaurant itself is really nice too. Good music and just a really nice setup.

Judy G.

Yelp
We love the food at Mom's Haus. After checking Yelp and their website (open 7 days) we headed over there yesterday, 6/16/24. Locked up, no sign on the door, nothing. So we made what for us was a long drive only to find them closed. Owner, please put something on your website indicating what's up. Are you permanently closed? Had there been a family emergency? No note on the door, nothing. Finally, silly me, I pitched Mom's Haus on KABC on Friday as having the best fried chicken in town. I hope listeners didn't waste their time driving there like we did yesterday only to find them closed.

Yelp
This was hands down my FAVORITE place that I visited during my trip to LA!! The food was fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. Our server was NEXT LEVEL!! She was very attentive, gave us everything we needed, had great recommendations, and went above and beyond!! The restaurant itself was decorated beautifully and they had the best music playing! We tried a few dishes and each did not disappoint!! From the pork chops, shrimp and grits, catfish, macaroni, to the cabbage......chef's kiss!!! And the dessert.....AMAZING!! I had the cheesecake, and I'm not a dessert guy. It was drizzled with pralines caramel....OMG!!! Check this place out of you're ever in LA!!

Yelp
I recently went her for Sunday brunch and it was possibly the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. We arrived at noon, and they had just opened one hour earlier. Despite only being open for one hour, we were informed that they were out of chicken - not a particular chicken dish like fried chicken... ALL chicken. They were also out of catfish and down to their last order of shrimp. I tried to order salmon and was informed that they've been out of salmon for weeks, and the waiter wasn't even sure why they kept it on the menu. So basically 75% of the menu was unavailable. We should have just left, but my friends wanted to stay. I ended up ordering the Red Snapper which I was excited for. It came with 2 sides so I chose green beans and black eyed peas. The snapper was so flavorless, i barely ate half of one filet because it wasn't worth the calories. Such a let down when i was expecting some tasty Louisiana cuisine. The green beans were equally bland and very limp. The only thing I like were the tasty Black Eyed peas. We also shared pickle chips and the deviled eggs for the table (we got the last 2 shrimp). Both were tasty but you didn't get much deviled eggs for the price. The ambience is only okay. There was a game on, and they decided to have the volume up so high it was hard to hear my friends. Another good thing I can say is that the waiter was good. He came by an refilled our waters regularly and was nice.

Kiki A.

Yelp
Look at earlier review found the pics in my Amazon photos. You look at that gravy , chicken, pork chops, sorry I didn't take the rice it didn't come with he rest of the disappointing food so I forgot.

Francis V.

Yelp
My family and I went to Mom's Hause on a weekday night around 5 o'clock, it wasn't crowded at all, which was great because we were seated right away. We were told that the crowd gets heavy later at night. I went to the previous location, this location is set up different and really nice. There were several of us in our party, and everyone basically ordered fried ribs, fried snapper and fried catfish I ordered the fried ribs, green beans, potato salad, and oysters which were all very good. It is always hard for me to find potato salad that I like and the salad that they serve is so good and they make it from scratch. The food did not take long. There is a parking lot that is shared with other businesses, so Parking can be a little bit of a challenge, but with patience you will find a space. They seem to have different theme nights, like comedy night which I plan to attend soon. They have plenty of TV's all around the restaurant if you want to watch the game.

John L.

Yelp
First time going to Moms and it was for a comedy night. Staff was extremely attentive and accommodating throughout. The comedy night was also pretty fun and a new experience for me with dinner. Small intimate indoor seating but was confused by the large LED TVs that played nature and architectural 4K videos. Didn't seem to fit the vibe of what the restaurant is. Food was decent. Enjoyed the fried chicken a lot and the Mac and cheese was very flavorful! Green beans for me were cooked to mush and was not a fan of that side. Overall would go again but try different sides.

Anton F.

Yelp
I was nearby for a meeting, saw the name, so stopped in for lunch. Familiar with the restaurant but wasn't aware of this location. In a small corner strip mall on Sunset Blvd, the parking lot was tight, crowded and slightly difficult to navigate. At the entrance, the sign read Grand Opening (June 2023). I walked to the bar, had a good conversation with the waitstaff about the menu and establishment. Was informed this location was under new ownership and recently opened. She was very nice and helpful. I wanted to sample a few items so I ordered fried shrimp and catfish to go and a Modelo while I waited. The place was empty, dimly lit but clean. A few TVs on the wall, open The bill was higher than expected at $35. Both the catfish and shrimp were good, seasoned prepared well.

Keith J.

Yelp
Culinary perfection! I ventured into the new Hollywood location for a quick lunch. THE FOOD WAS SO DAMN GOOD IT MADE ME CURSE!!! Slap yo mama good. I had the best Shrimp and Grits of my life, with beautiful bold and nuanced flavors, perfectly cooked shrimp and a topping of fried catfish nuggets that had perfect texture inside and out. It was truly insane. The new place is tastefully decorated and the staff is warm and attentive and top notch. Thank you Janessa for your welcoming service. The cooking here has always been good, but this was exceptional.

Akeem B.

Yelp
Ordered the gumbo and a side of catfish. Catfish was excellently executed. Gumbo was not good. It was barely warm. The crab legs were tiny and had an off putting smell & taste. Couldn't even finish it. Server asked how it was and I told him about it. Kinda gave a me a shrug and that was it. At the end I asked to have a lil something taken off the bill because of it but the server said he had already talked to the chef who said the dish was perfect so he was unwilling to ask about a discount. I paid full price for a subpar meal I didn't finish. Not a great first experience but again, the catfish was excellent.

Tabitha T.

Yelp
We weren't able to try the food. We traveled from DC for my son's bday. He wanted to try one eating establishment, my daughter who is a vegetarian foodie wanted to try Mom's. We took an Uber all the way from the airport and were told my son couldnt have outside food inside Mom's. We left disappointed and hungry. Fortunately the staff at Nick the Greek took care of us.

Yelp
On Friday, my friend & I had a Girls Night In; catch up, watch TV & movies at her place in Van Nuys. When dinnertime arrived, we ordered to go via Mom's Haus, which was nearby. She had gone recently & was raving about the Louisiana cuisine! Fried Catfish: Incredible: Highly flavorful! Both crispy and soft within & seasoned to perfection. String Beans: They had me at hello & completely took me by surprise; so much flavor & and had me craving more, even though I was full! Haha! You know when food is good enough that it makes you want to dance? This is it! Haha! Macaroni Salad: Unique & unlike any macaroni salad I've ever had before. A different flavor with every bite! Decor: Lots of mirrors inside, instruments installed on the walls; you can easily tell their love of music & plenty of seating inside, as well as a few seats & tables outside. Overall: Great customer service as well & incredibly welcoming. I already want to go back. The food packs a flavorful punch & I loved it. Next time I want to try another dish, perhaps, the shrimp Poboy, looks delicious!

Ian D.

Yelp
The Voodoo chicken is the best fried chicken I've ever had. Get it with the hot sauce. The brown sugar in the coating balances perfectly with the hot sauce. Chicken was cooked to perfection, including the breast. I can't figure out what they did to the black eyed peas, but they are incredible. Best I've ever had. Collard greens are also excellent. This place is by far, has the best Cajun food in so cal, and I've tried a lot of them. Kudos to the chef!

Terrell W.

Yelp
I live in Van Nuys and have been a frequent customer to the mom's haus there, so I was super enthused to try their new Hollywood location. I came in on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't crowded so we were seated immediately. First thing is the ambiance. I had been in this space when it used to be a pizza place and they have done a great job remolding. The scenery feels as though it can transform into a happening night spot without compromising the integrity of the place. Now I'm a huge fan of New Orleans cuisine so first thing I had to do was try their chargrilled oysters. Flavor was cool but I tend to like mine swimming in butter. Now this may not be a big deal to those who have never had them but if you've been to Dragos or Acme in NO then you know that's standard. Also didn't realize until after the fact that they don't serve grilled bread with the oysters but you can buy is separately. That's a given in NO so my recommendation would be just charge a little extra for the oysters and throw some bread in there. For my fried rib dinner I have to be honest and say that my ribs a were a bit over cooked. I've had the fried rib dinner at the other location and they were perfect everytime so maybe it's just a different cook or it was just an off day. Overall I'll probably stick to the valley location since it's closer to home but I hope they're successful and a soul food establishment in Hollywood is a welcomed addition.

Keith M.

Yelp
I ordered the pasta here and I enjoyed it. It was a decent price and great amount of food and spiciness , the Mac and cheese and macaroni salad were bland, needed salt and pepper. I mentioned it they said they will work on it haha We also had salmon which was good. The atmosphere was nice, a little loud but it was a Friday and I'm used to it. Also my drink was good, a whiskey something. I would recommend. Just don't get the Mac haha

Sequoia C.

Yelp
The food here is amazing! I ordered the catfish dinner and sides of creole Mac & cheese and hot water cornbread. The catfish was fried to perfection! I believe my food was ready within 10-12 minutes after I ordered --and it tasted exactly how it looked. Yummy! I also had an extremely refreshing conversation with one of the owners of the restaurant. The staff was professional, kind and courteous. I love to experience and support Black owned Business --especially when they are doing the right thing for their customers by delivering delicious food as promised.

Sammy B.

Yelp
Replying to the owner- it was not updated on your Yelp page bc I clicked the address from your Yelp page also, maybe having a sign on your past location saying you moved would've been helpful. I am new to the area and I was hoping based off your yelp page.

Clyde W.

Yelp
I tried to order from here about a month ago for lunch and whoever picked up the phone told me that want I wanted was only on the dinner menu and I couldn't order it until several hours later. Today I decided to give it another chance and ordered online. It said that it was a 0 minute pickup time so I waited about 20 minutes and went in to pick up my food. There were two people eating together who were leaving and I'm not sure if the server saw me and ignored me or just didn't see me but I had a wait a few minutes before anyone said anything to me. She told me it would be another 5-10 minutes. I ordered Mac and cheese and jambalaya, both of them weren't that good and I've made better at home. It wasn't really worth it for the price. I'm pretty sure I would never eat here again.

Amber W.

Yelp
I ate at this spot 2 days in a row. They were out of shrimp the first time, so I ordered the fried catfish and I wasn't disappointed at all. Crunch and flavorful! I call back the next day to see if they had shrimp and they did, ordered the boudreux's platter again, and I was in heaven being from Louisiana..I felt at home. The service was amazing and the ambiance is nice. I wi be back to dine in for sure. First 2 tries, I ordered to go.

S C.

Yelp
Great vibes good music , decent food , service was great I can't complain .. the sides were mediocre but the fried chicken is good!

Monique C.

Yelp
Closed!!!! Does not answer phone. Drove to location doors locked. No signage. Security guard stated have not seen them open in a week.

John F.

Yelp
Ordered the catfish and oxtail plate. Both were seasoned, cooked perfectly and extremely flavorful. One of the owners was there to take my order and he was very helpful navigating the menu giving his suggestions.

Yvonne M.

Yelp
TERRIBLE!!! This was an absolutely horrible dining experience. This place should be called NO NO NO NO! They had NO lamb chops, NO oysters, NO Mac n' Cheese, NO yams, NO oxtails and NO hot sauce! ALSO, they had NO crawfish for the Etouffèe! Get this! All of these things were on the menu!! LMFAO, you can't make this up. And the greens were terrible. I will NOt be coming back. Waste of a good Sunday.

Tia B.

Yelp
The yams were baby food nasty, the chicken not edible, the corn and mac and cheese smelled and tasted like dog sh$t!!! ...My dogs wouldn't even eat it!!! We waited two hours for this horrible bs!!! The workers were rude asf.....Everything was out that day. DO NOT GO THERE...RUN...

Hila S.

Yelp
90% of the menu items were unavailable because according to the waitress, "they forgot to go grocery shopping." Without substantial food choices, we ended up with waffles as well as biscuits and gravy. The gravy was sparse and overly salted. The waffles were dry and inedible. Service was poor despite there being only 3-4 tables occupied during our meal. The waitress never came to check up on us, refill water, or ask if we'd like more drinks. If you're home and you open a nearly empty fridge feeling unenthusiastic about anything that's available, you are still in a 100% better position than dining at this place. It's "soul food" only in the sense that it kills your soul.

Naetyiona W.

Yelp
I Would Not Recommend This Place To Anyone I Know. There Is A 20% Gratuity On Groups Of 4 Or More So Even If They Don't Deserve It They're Still Getting It. RUN & Go Anyplace Else . Maybe In N Out Next Door! Upon Arriving (1:00pm) We Walked In On Time For Reservation , Was Told We Can Sit Any Where Great!, As We Are Walking We Say Hello To Server (Jessika P) Before Sitting Down & Got Ignored First Day Of Black History Month Crazy I Know. Mind You There Wasn't Anyone There But US. As We Were Ordering That's When We Were Informed That Almost Majority Of The Menu Was Sold Out, Not As We Were Walking Into Establishment. She Comes Over With An Attitude And We Kept Trying To Keep Our Cool & Enjoy Our Brunch After An Hour Is When Homegirl Tried Losing Her Attitude Cause We Were Ordering A Lot & Because They Didn't Have Food Fr. It Also Took An Hour For Our Food To Come Just For It To Be Disgusting. We Ordered Champagne For Table , As You Can See It Is Cooks Champagne Which Is Very Nasty And No More Than $10, I Get Selling It For An Upcharge But $60 Was Crazy. They Should Have A Better Selection If They're Going To Charge A Arm And Leg. This Is There Smothered Pork Chop Meal As You Can See There Is No Smothering Going On Lol, Black Gravy Ok, It Also Didn't Come With Rice So You Had To Order Extra With A Side Of Gravy As You Can See, Shit Was Not To Any Liking Two People Got This Meal & Sent It Back. The Mac And Cheese Was Soooo Nasty Didn't Have Any Flavor, Seasoning, Nothing! The Greens Were Good To Some But For Me They Also Needed More Seasoning They Had More Juice In Greens Than Greens And The Juice Was Thick More Of A Gravy Consistency. Also The Whole Place Is Wine Based So There Isn't Hard Liquor Like Most Would Think. Looks Can Be Very Deceiving As You Can See. Only Thing Great In This Place Was The Music #SorryNotSorry!

D M.

Yelp
A lot of these reviews are old. This place reopened in the last year, and while the food is good the service is terrible unless you catch them on a good day. Between not being open the hours they say they are and disconnecting the phone it's quite disappointing. When the business acumen catches up with the quality of food, they could be a nice establishment,

Allen Family Childcare I.

Yelp
OMG the food was amazing. The oxtail meat was falling off the bone. Our waitress Paris did exceptionally well. Her customer service was 5 star. She was very detailed with describing the menu, alert to our needs and move at a rapid place. I can see myself coming here every week. But back to the food. The chef is bomb.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Are you guys serious? First and last time I'll order takeout from this restaurant. I never leave reviews but this is wild.

Steve S.

Yelp
This food is super yummy. Every thing I tasted even the sweet tea was amazing. I'm so lucky to have legit southern food here in LA! The catfish was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside with lovely seasoning. The collard greens were out of this world. And the macaroni salad surprised me as a favorite! It was that perfect al dente and had a really nice vinegar flavor. I liked it so much I ordered a pint of it to go after dining in.

Marisol M.

Yelp
Nothing gives me more pleasure than paying good money $$$, for exquisite service and meal with my family. However, a first time dinning experience must be exceptional. While the Hollywood location appeared to be pleasant and we were even invited inside by the "owner" himself. The wait to take our order was much to slow. The overall food experience was a disappointment and not worth the cost. Our food took 45 minutes to arrive (after 3 inquires) and the owners interference. Once it finally arrived our order arrived in pieces, incorrect and incomplete. Again, interference was needed after another 15 minutes went by and two dishes including my husband's meal were still missing. Finally, I asked to speak with the owner (who was outside in his Rolls Royce) to cancel our order as we were late for our show. As for the food, it failed to meet our expectation. We ordered Mama's chicken, Gumbo fries (which were cold), catfish, rice/beans with Red snapper (which never arrived) nor did the appetizer. The owner did offer to remove items from our bill, we still left hungry and disappointed. Now my husband did not allow me to see the so-called "reduced bill", until in the car, let's just say if that was a "reduced price" we definitely pay his ride. Advise to management, learn how to put value in what matters. The ambiance matters, but the quality, service and taste of the food should be spectacular and unique to match the cost. Take the time to taste the dishes and you would find: the sweet tea is not so sweet, the side dishes lack flavor, and the portions do not fit the bill. For a satisfying Louisiana experience; we will stick with Lucille's.

Candice B.

Yelp
I spent $20.10 on catfish nuggets and corn - this is what I got. I reached out to DoorDash about this because ... this is robbery.

Carmen P.

Yelp
My coworker and I spent $75 on lunch - I ordered the jambalaya and catfish poboy sandwich. The size of the sandwich was large, the bread was soft but had way too much mayonnaise and it came with Mac and cheese. The fish itself was fishy and hard. The seasoning was good but I could not enjoy it Because of the fishy taste. The mac and cheese was spicy..... not your traditional Mac and cheese and just not my preference. The jambalaya was AWFUL. First, it was $17 and it came in a 8oz container specifically used for sides (that's robbery). The taste was nonexistent, there was no taste at all and it was dryer than the Sahara dessert. I had about 4 small pieces of sausage and rice in a small cup. DO NOT ORDER THE JAMBALAYA. - my coworker ordered pork chops, fried chicken, Mac and cheese, and fries. The pork chop was extremely dry but had flavor. The fried chicken was "ok", nothing we would brag about or go back for seconds. The fries were cooked well but no salt at all. We are extremely dissatisfied with our lunch and sad that someone would sale food of this horrible quality.

Melvin H.

Yelp
Unfortunately u wanna more delicious food. The plate was so big I don't have enough room.It delicious, not to spicy. And so good u wanna slap somebody ss say it's good

Vanessa P.

Yelp
BeSt Mac n Cheese! Drive from Newport Beach to Van Nuys just for the Mac n cheese!!! Everything is real good.

Chanel C.

Yelp
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! they stole money off my card and would not refund it even after acknowledging their mess up. Management was rude and the place unsanitary. THERES A REASON THE VAN NUYS LOCATION WAS CLOSED DOWN! Avoid food poisoning and chose a different place to eat.

Allison A.

Yelp
Came here after seeing a video on Instagram. This place was amazing. Truly a hidden gem. Tried many things and the items that stood out the most was the sweet tea, fired chicken, shrimp and grits and collard greens. The sweet tea was perfect and now overly sweet. The shrimp and grits were creamy/cheesy and the shrimp was seasoned really well. Fried chicken was excellent with the hot sauce. And the collard greens were hands down the best I've ever had. I almost drank the liquid lol. We will definitely be coming back with family and friends to share the great food. The service was excellent as well. The woman who helped us was super friendly and helped us order as first timers.

Lisa Y.

Yelp
Yum! I really liked this place - their fried chicken had a slightly spicy batter but very tasty. I really like their black eye pea side, it was so flavorful with smoked turkey. Their hush puppies were pretty big and very tasty. Order ahead via phone and show up later than their expected time - their service is slightly slow.

Clarissa H.

Yelp
This place recently opened near me and I thought I'd give it a try. I've came a few times, each time I sit at the bar and order food or to go. The place is nice and clean, the bar is right at the entrance with 3 seats. The catfish is SO SCRUMPTIOUS... the only thing I'm not a fan of is it takes a while for the food. That's cus everything is made fresh, the last time I ordered appetizers and it took about 45minutes. I was ordering drinks and talking to the bartender which happened to be his last day. I'll def be back, there's so much more on the menu I want to try

Jon D.

Yelp
It was my first time attending this restaurant yesterday I ordered chicken greens macaroni and cheese and cornbread they omitted the cornbread from the order and each item that I ordered it was over S The chicken was undercooked with no crust I will never go back again well I'm dissatisfied.

Mary B.

Yelp
Food was tasty!! Ambiance nice background music. Server was friendly and kept checking on me. It's a little hard to find ....it's the corner of Sunset and La Brea in the "v" center of a strip mall. Parking is limited and a little pricey for the portions. The smothered pork chops and collards were very good!

Daniela P.

Yelp
Food was absolutely delish, made fresh to order & service was phenomenal! Will be back next time we're in town!

Destiny O.

Yelp
I miss the previous owners. The food quality and taste, customer service, and restaurant ambience will never be the same.

Tina M.

Yelp
The server was great. We went on Saturday afternoon and many food and drink items were unavailable, including desserts. The food took a long time and some food items we ordered were missing. St claude's chicken did not have gravy but had ox tail jus instead and was not good. The greens weren't fully cooked. Also portions were small given the prices.

Yelp
Diggin it! Creole / Cajun and BBQ in one spot?! Sign me up. First time in...gettin at it! Tried a medley, Beef Ribs, (Tangy delish BBQ sauce) tender; Fried Chicken, cook just right, nice n crispy; "Fried" pork ribs. Crsipy n Goooood. Jambalya, seasoned extraordinarily. Black eyed peas and Collard Greens!!! Let's just say they ain't skimpy bout FLAVA! Unfortunately, hit it up 4th of July weekend, so out of a lot of menu items. Understandable. Darn. I gotta go back for mo?! Staff was helpful and friendly. Just the kinda spot you can call "home."

Yelp
Parking is limited, restaurant is located in a strip mall. Food, service and ambiance were excellent.

Yelp
Fried chix: Flavor was underwhelming and skin was like rubber. Mac salad: watered down flavor. Crawfish etouffee: lukewarm and bland. Our stomachs after dinner: upset and filled with bubbles Avoid this overpriced place

Yelp
Looking for a pretty good soul food restaurant in the valley? Well, you found it, or I did first. :). I ordered the 2 piece all white meat fried chicken dinner w collard greens and potato salad. Fried chicken was juicy, but by time it arrived home it sweated too much and the skin was soggy. :( Otherwise it was seasoned fine w a mix of herbs and spices reminiscent of my time in Nola. Please note however, it tastes as if it's fried in the same grease as their fish. Just a heads up because I know that really bothers some people. I'm fine with it. The greens were also heavily seasoned, but a tad on the salty side for my preference, but good none the less. The potato salad was fairly good too, but a bit sweet. I don't mind my potato salad having a hint of sweetness (relish) but I'm not into adding sugar. Tasted as if there might be a little sugar added. A guess ... My hubby ordered the rib tips and he liked them. He unfortunately didn't care for the potato salad. He really enjoyed the hot water cornbread. BTW Don't expect "traditional" hot water cornbread. There's is made more like a pancake and I enjoyed i@much more prepared this way! Lastly, the woman who took our order over the phone was great. Very pleasant and helpful. Overall the food is good, customer service is on point, so this place checks off the most important boxes. I will return and will likely try the fried fish time.

Yelp
Food and service is amazing, I will definitely return to this location again to try the fried ribs which I heard were amazing. Unfortunately on my visit today they were unavailable so I I got the lamb chops and was very pleased with that.

Yelp
I came here after they opened up the store only a few months ago, so I don't know how they have 400 reviews (?) however, I will say it's disappointing how little food a portion is- it also took almost 30 minutes after the food was ordered-- I was the only person in the building. Sadly, I had to go to Starbucks to get a sandwich to fill up... Probably call will not return, even though I wanted to support the business.
