Mom's Momo has two trucks (that I know of), one that hangs out in the 40s off Queens Blvd in Sunnyside, and the other on 74th Street in Jackson Heights. I have been to both trucks, and you would think Jackson Heights had already reached peak Momo saturation, but Mom's is still a fantastic addition. Needless to say, Sunnyside is even more thankful that Mom's graces our streets.
Mom's chicken momos are the only chicken dumpling, basically of any kind, that I think stands up to its beef counterparts. They are juicy, and have an essential poultry flavor that is missing from a lot of ground chicken preparations. The beef are still my favorite, and they have so much deep, rich meat juice flavor that you would occasionally be forgiven for mistaking them for lamb.
Some sides not to sleep on: The noodles are slightly bland unless you order them SPICY, in which case they suddenly become great. It's a strange thing-- I tried them spicy and loved them, had them not spicy and thought they didn't taste like much, and then tried them spicy again and realized I was just missing heat all along.
They also sell summer rolls, which seem like they are on the wrong truck but, hey, they're really good summer rolls, with plump pink shrimp and a highly normal but fairly satisfying dipping sauce.
The combo meals are a particularly great deal. I hope they get more trucks and spread more momos all over this great borough.
