The Best Food Trucks & Carts In NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"After pondering this guide for a few minutes, you may have noticed by now that Jackson Heights is home to food truck royalty. Another example of the neighborhood’s crown-power is this Tibetan truck on Broadway. Mom’s Momo makes both fried and steamed momos, each with a plump, thick exterior and vegetable, beef, or chicken filling. Our favorite is the fried, beef variety doused in a combo of spicy, red chili sauce and white sauce to cool you off. You need both for full effect. Mom’s also has a location off of Queens Boulevard in Sunnyside, in case that’s more convenient to you." - hannah albertine

The Best Momos in NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"One of two momo trucks on this list, Mom’s Momos on Broadway in Jackson Heights makes fried and steamed Tibetan versions with plump, thick exteriors and a choice of vegetable, beef, or chicken filling. Our pick is the fried beef dumpling doused in a combo of spicy, red chili sauce and cooling white sauce. You need both for full effect. Mom’s also has a location off of Queens Boulevard in Sunnyside." - carina finn koeppicus, bryan kim

How NYC Residents Are Planning Multicultural Thanksgivings During the Pandemic | Eater NY

"I started the Jackson Heights crawl by eating beef momos at a food truck — the piece says it could have been Mom’s Momo — and those beef momos were the couple’s first stop." - Charu Suri

Google
This was my first time trying Tibetan food at Mom’s Momo, and while it was interesting, I wasn’t crazy about it. I ordered the beef fried momos and yellow laphing. The momos had a nice crispy exterior and decent flavor, but the filling felt inconsistent—some bites were just the dumpling wrapper without much meat inside. The yellow laphing was unique. I didn’t realize it’s meant to be served cold, so I reheated it, but it still tasted good. It came with a dipping sauce that numbed the spice (probably from Sichuan peppercorns), which helped tone down the heat. Without the sauce, it was pretty spicy. Overall, the food was okay, but nothing blew me away. It was a decent introduction to Tibetan cuisine, but I’m not sure I’d rush back.

Google
I’ve been to NYC many times, but these Momos were some of the best things I’ve ever eaten in the city. The dipping sauce that comes with it is extraordinary. Very reasonably priced. Highly recommend taking a trip out to Queens to try these.

Google
My husband and I are loyal to Mom’s Momos. Of all the momos we’ve tried in the area, Mom’s beef fried momo are perfectly pan fried and juicy on the inside.

Owen L

Google
Amazing steamed momos. I’ll have to try the fried next time, but the steamed were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The lahping was great too, but the momos were a better choice. Extremely quick service and very kind people. Highly recommend it!

Google
A momo is basically a soup dumpling thats fried. This food truck has momos in steam ovens so it takes very little time to get your food. Anyone who has gone to a restaurant and ordered soup dumplings know that you will often get them after you are almost done with your main course. The dumplings came out quick, it was juicy and delicious. And good bargain. You will find many other momo places in Jackson Heights. Maybe some are better but if you don’t want to risk it, this is a dependable place to get good dumplings at a good value.

Google
Tried it on a whim. Wasn't blown away but wasn't disappointed either. I got the fried chicken momo. Should've tried the beef version. But that Hot Sauce is fire and should be sold in stores.

Google
So many momo trucks in this intersection, definitely not mad I went with Mom’s! Tried the fried and steamed chicken, both very tasty even a couple days later using my air fryer. Glad I got the chicken, it reminded me of more of a pork/chicken blend, thought it was comforting and easy to eat. If you’re a fan of spice and flavor, you might find it bland. Pay with Venmo, very easy

Google
I absolutely love their momos and the cold noodles.

Yelp
Very plumped and piping hot momos - 8 pieces for $9. We got the chicken and it was very tasty, highly recommend pouring some hot sauce and yogurt sauce for the perfect balance of a savory and spicy. You have to try the Laphing rolls (forgot to picture). These are cold and refreshing noodles made from mung bean (I think?) soaked in this spicy and umami sauce which certainly has a nice bite of heat at the end. It wrapped some sort of tofu and our group agreed that this was a favorite.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed Mom's momos, opting for the delicious chicken ones complemented by a flavorful sauce. The hot sauce added a nice kick. While I wished for outdoor seating, being a food truck limits that. Amidst various momo trucks at the intersection in queens, I'm happy I chose Mom's. I sampled the steamed chicken momos, finding them tasty even later in the day when I brought it home. The chicken was filling and hit the spot. If you love spice and flavor, it might lean toward the milder side so you could ask more extra hot sauce. If you don't have cash, no worries since they also take Venmo.

Yelp
My go to momo spot in Jackson's Heights. They are open late so that's dope. They also take venmo if you don't have cash on you!! The dumplings were chunky, filled with chicken (it's halal!), and comes with sauce. The chili sauce is SPICY. But anywho, they have the best momos in Queens!! I want to try other things on the menu like there spring rolls.

Yelp
Good momos but not excellent. When you order, the sweet lady pan fries them to add a tinge of char and to heat them. What I feel they lack is scallions and the flavorful ingredients other competitors retain. Phayul restaurant and amdo truck are better. Just my honest opinion.
google avatar

Isabel L.

Yelp
First time trying momos and I loved them! It's a perfect cross between a regular dumpling and a soup dumpling. Loved that they are pretty big in size and stuffed with meat. No stinginess here! Warning: the hot sauce is pretty spicy but the yogurt sauce helps to balance that out and add a nice freshness. We got the chicken momos since they were out of beef. I am not usually a fan of chicken dumplings, so I was pretty apprehensive about trying it, but they were surprisingly super juicy and almost tasted like pork. Can't wait to try the beef next time!

Yelp
Not great. Came off the train feeling peckish. Decided to get some momo at the truck as opposed to going home and cooking something. I regret it. The momo was ready immediately. Never had that experience, but kind of shrugged it off as maybe a fresh batch just came out. Sat down at Diversity Plaza and began eating. The momo, tasted unfortunately poor. Felt like it was frozen, not fresh, and the chicken inside had no flavor at all. The plus side here though is that they accept digital payments, so they've got that going for them. If you need to put something in your stomach and don't have cash on you and don't want to go to an atm, I could see coming here. I'm probably gonna continue sticking to Momo Crave from now on. It's fresh, the filling is well seasoned, and the sauce is delicious. I hope this experience at Mom's Momo was just a fluke.

Yelp
I ordered the steamed chicken momos from this food truck after being recommended by my cousin. Having not tried momos prior, I was excited get my hands on their classic menu item. First of all, the flavor was so different (in a good way!) compared to other dumpling-type foods I've had. Each of the momos were fairly large and overall the price point was affordable. I did question, however, how fresh the food was given its texture and presentation (slightly slimier than steamed dumplings I've had in the past and a couple momos were ripped). That being said, I am glad to have tried them. Flavor: the combination of the creamy white sauce with the spicy red was perfectly balanced and definitely elevated the flavors of the momos. If you can handle spicy foods, I highly recommend just drizzling both sauces over the plate.

Yelp
This was my first time trying momo's, it was late night after 2 am and not many options, we had the beef momo & chicken momo. They just ok, the floor around the truck was dirty with trash thrown on the floor. Don't think I would go back here.
google avatar

Kyle V.

Yelp
We ordered some momos when we saw their truck during some type of street festival near Central Park. We ordered steamed chicken momos and weren't disappointed. The staff wasn't the friendliest but they were trying to get through the line. I would have liked some explanation on the sauces that were provided. They also told me they don't have Mountain Dew, even though their menu showed a picture of one. Overall, the food doesn't lie and we really enjoyed trying the momos. They weren't steaming hot once we found a spot in the park but thats not their fault since we had to walk a few blocks. I definitely recommended finding this food truck and giving Tibetan momos a shot!
google avatar

Karina L.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVE this food truck! Their momos are always fresh, taste amazing and they hit the spot after a long night out in the city. My favorite is their fried beef momos. Tip: get an extra white sauce cos it's never enough (at least for me anyway), and be careful with the red sauce!
google avatar

Steph W.

Yelp
The food truck was outside the Fifth Hammer Brewery. We ordered the combo option - which is your choice of momos and then a spring roll. The beef momo was nothing to write home about. The pork buns were hoisin sauce forward and not juicy.
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
Honestly, I was on my way to Potola, but then decided to just default to the truck that was closest to my double parked car! And, I'm glad I got to try Mom's cause their momos are PRETTY DAMN TASTY! I got one order of steamed beef momos at 8 pieces for $6, and later regretted not getting more. (To which the hungry person I was picking up this late night snack for also concurred!) The meat quality and flavors were noticeably tastier and more constructed than other quick in and out places I've had. Now mind you, I've only had momos maybe 3 other times in my life, so there isn't a wide baseline here to go off of (only if I'm isolating Tibetan dumplings over other dumplings, naturally.) But, in my limited experience, these rank as number 2 of 5. Plus, the Chinese-Halal Cart-esque combo of red and white dipping sauces were a fun surprise!
google avatar

Greg T.

Yelp
This place was pretty good! They allow you to mix and match your orders for momos, so I got a bit of everything to try them. The beef is kind of like lamb, but delicious. The veggie ones were decent, but not mind blowing. The chicken ones were pretty good as well, especially with a little bit of soy (which they do not provide). All in all, I would go back!! Why they didn't get 5-stars: Their "menu" of pictures on the truck was pretty apetizing and I was looking for a variety of momos and others. I was the only one on line and I contemplated for a few minutes what I was going to get for us and then was finally ready to order. He then informs me that they only have momos, not any of the other great-looking items. You couldn't have told me that while you watched me overthink the menu!? Maybe put a sign up that they don't have everything or tell the people as they come up to your truck.

Yelp
Mom's Momo is usually parked outside of Fifth Hammer Brewery in LIC on weekends, and they have my favorite momos. I always get the steamed chicken momos, and they are perfection. The dough is thick and slightly chewy, and filled with a delicious and juicy chicken mixture. It goes perfectly with the white sauce and just a bit of the hot sauce (it is super spicy!) They also offer beef momos and pan fried beef or chicken, and I have to get these whenever I'm in LIC.
google avatar

Kimarley L.

Yelp
First on line! A great snack to have, 8 for $6 what's not to like. Taste just like most Asian dumplings. I shared amongst friends. I want to try the pan fried ones next.
google avatar

Yelp
What you need to know: - Found their truck near the 74th Street - Roosevelt subway station in Jackson Heights, where are a handful of momo trucks. - Food was made to order and was fair fast. - Very friendly guy, service with a smile! - Closed on Sundays. - Prices are comparable to the other trucks. What we ordered: - Chicken momos (pan fried), price $6 - This was a clear winner! Pan fried cost $1 extra but is definitely worth the money. Pan fried to perfection and provides a nice contrast of crunch to the momos. The chicken meat was also juicy, but didn't have too much flavor. - Beef momos (steamed) $5 - The momos were juicy, but the meat itself was dry and bland. I also would have enjoyed it a tad more if there were more herbs or something contrasting the meat like onions, it tasted like a ball of meat. The steamed beef was definitely dry compared to the pan fried chicken momos.
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
Got the pan-fried and steamed beef momos. Tasted great overall, but the momos were inconsistent from each other. The filling in the steamed version tasted meatier while the pan-fried tasted blander. The steamed version's skin was dryer while the pan-fried came out juicier. That said, some of the pan-fried momos were very juicy while some were less. Both still tasted great with the sauces. Service was fairly quick and the truck looked clean enough.
google avatar

Tenzing S.

Yelp
LOVE the Beef Momo! So juicy and the red chili sauce is so spicy and delicious. Great option if you don't have cash and need momos quickly!
google avatar

Andrew M.

Yelp
I was very pleased with the selection this food truck offers. I really enjoyed the momos and will definitely go back again!

Yelp
Mom's Momo has two trucks (that I know of), one that hangs out in the 40s off Queens Blvd in Sunnyside, and the other on 74th Street in Jackson Heights. I have been to both trucks, and you would think Jackson Heights had already reached peak Momo saturation, but Mom's is still a fantastic addition. Needless to say, Sunnyside is even more thankful that Mom's graces our streets. Mom's chicken momos are the only chicken dumpling, basically of any kind, that I think stands up to its beef counterparts. They are juicy, and have an essential poultry flavor that is missing from a lot of ground chicken preparations. The beef are still my favorite, and they have so much deep, rich meat juice flavor that you would occasionally be forgiven for mistaking them for lamb. Some sides not to sleep on: The noodles are slightly bland unless you order them SPICY, in which case they suddenly become great. It's a strange thing-- I tried them spicy and loved them, had them not spicy and thought they didn't taste like much, and then tried them spicy again and realized I was just missing heat all along. They also sell summer rolls, which seem like they are on the wrong truck but, hey, they're really good summer rolls, with plump pink shrimp and a highly normal but fairly satisfying dipping sauce. The combo meals are a particularly great deal. I hope they get more trucks and spread more momos all over this great borough.
google avatar

Taxi G.

Yelp
Based on the pan fried chicken and beef Momo alone. They were excellent. I've been to the competition across the street several times and they have started to make theirs too thick. First time here and they are actually tender, flavorful and filling. The white sauce is much better as well. Although they were out of everything but momos I can still judge on momos alone. Check them out. Delicious.
google avatar

Brendan T.

Yelp
4 & 1/2. Wow it takes some serious balls to open a new momo truck on this corner, the literally heart of Momo-land, but boy are these new kids bringing the heat!!! Ok in large, if not all part its likely due to their brilliant decisions of offer the Momo's pan-seared as opposed to just steamed or even deep-fried, but crucially they pan-sear them to brilliant and delicious effect. Think of your favorite Momo's, and them combine them with your favorite pan fried Chinese dumpling and you'll get the idea, not sure if I need to say much more. Well worth the up-charge you cheap f*cks! They also offer the delicious white sauce as the OG Potala truck does, but not all the others do, which MUST be used in combination with the soy and hot sauces, although it must be noted that just a little of the hot sauce, like a few drops, goes a long way. The staff has been uniformly lovely and exceedingly friendly on each and every visit.
google avatar

Zachary C.

Yelp
Got the pan fried momos as recommended by other reviews and was disappointed. Chicken tasted very gingery and overall the pan fried skin was super oily. Will definitely give this place another try, but wouldn't go out of my way.

Peter F.

Yelp
I came in the morning where it was fresh, i got beef and it could have been more flavorful and more fatty(slightly dry) a couple of them have holes which if this was soup dumpling would be a huge no no. It was my first time trying momo and i don't really like the texture
google avatar

Kwok T.

Yelp
I saw their truck on 74 st Jackson Height so I gave them a try. Everything I tried was ok. Everything on the menu sounded very familiar like it was from a Chinese menu. When I got my order, it was exactly like I thought. The momos are basically the same as Chinese dumplings but they added curry or hot sauce flavors. Noodle portion was tiny.

Nidha M.

Yelp
Dry and not very good. There were 3 of us and 1 order of chicken momos which we didn't finish eating. There are better options in the neighborhood.

Todd L.

Yelp
Amazing momos! You can't go wrong with either anything on the menu here. Beef and chicken were equally delicious and I'd be willing to bet the veggie is also really good. Only accepted cash, venmo and zelle when I went.
google avatar

Joseph T.

Yelp
I picked up some steamed beef momo from this food truck while it was parked on broadway near Roosevelt Ave in Elmhurst. The momo was ready within a minute and I was right on my way. They were delicious and reasonably priced. I really appreciated how quick the service was.
google avatar

Plasang L.

Yelp
Somehow this truck has moved to queens (Jackson height). As I was craving for some momo- thought I would give try on this new vendor in the hood. I wasn't really expecting a lot from this as all the momo taste the same in Jackson height. I ordered four orders of beef momo to go for the house. As I got home, took a bite of first momo (pretty juicy - not very bad) but I can tell the Momo has been frozen for long time and not so fresh. Next thing I opened the hot sauce and here it goes - first thing I smell was the bad smell. Then I knew it - sauce has been sitting outside the fridge all day long. It has the yuckiest smell. And I had to throw all my hot spice and didn't even open the white sauce.
google avatar

Rut N.

Yelp
If this is the right Mom's Momo I devoured at DC Veg Fest back in September, then I finally found it! I don't usually leave long Yelp review but the peanut sauce noodle they were selling has such a special place in my heart to me! Suprisingly it was only $5! It's very creamy, peanuty yet has a good acidity level. The weather was gloomy and it was warm. It was perfect! Though it has no meat (it was a vegetarian fest) it certainly subtituted the juiciness! I even looked at the vendors list for the festival and was not able to find much information! I hope they come back again to Washington DC anytime soon!!!
google avatar

Adam R.

Yelp
Best momo place in all of queens it's a must try and the workers are super nice. The beef is super good and they also have a veggie option as well as chicken. Had the fried dumplings and it was honestly really good

Jessie Y.

Yelp
My go to momo truck in Jackson heights.love their Chicken pan fried momo.I definitely recommend try their momo.

Carlos S.

Yelp
I don't have a problem with Mom, I just didn't like the fried chicken momos. Skin was thick, relatively flavorless. Sauce was watery. Not going to try the other offerings here, too many other options in Jackson Heights.
google avatar

Seema S.

Yelp
I just had the veggie dumplings at the Street Fair in midtown - they are amazing! The spicy sauce is legitimately spicy but all the flavors and sauces combined are amazing! Really wish they would be in Manhattan more often - best veggie dumpling I've had!
google avatar

Abhilash M.

Yelp
Really good, authentic momos. They recently moved from 14th Street in Manhattan to Brooklyn. Made the trip out to Brooklyn to have them. Definitely try out both their pan fried and steamed momos. Really good.
google avatar

Mia M.

Yelp
Best momo's in nyc! Always fresh, staffs are always friendly, fast service, cant ask for more.

Sofia B.

Yelp
The vegetable steamed momos were not good at all. There was barely any vegetable in the momos. When you bite into the momo it was sooo soggy. I wasnt sure what vegetables were in the momos itself.
google avatar

Food E.

Yelp
Can't speak to authenticity but enjoyed the steamed beef momos. 8 for $6 steamed, $7 of pan fried. Great with the hot sauce and white sauce.

Owen W.

Yelp
Fantastic! Some of the best veggie dumplings I've ever had and the beef were incredible. Great street food!
google avatar

Angeline P.

Yelp
This is an excellent momo! Their beef momo is a little on the saltier side, and their dough is a bit thicker than Amdo's, making it chewier but also more likely to survive the walk home. Their hot sauce is also much thicker than Amdo's, and has a bit of a different flavor. Amdo is still my favorite momo truck in Jackson Heights, but this place comes close (and is different enough that I'll be craving it every now and then). They are at this location on Saturdays and Sundays, and in Union Square on weekdays.

Ipsh B.

Yelp
Authentic Tibetan Momos. Yum. Try both steamed and panfried. Friendly owner. Current location is Brooklyn Bedford and 8th.

Marko P.

Yelp
Excellent service, very pleased with my meal. I would give it 10 stars if I could. Would highly recommend Moms momo.

Kelsang D.

Yelp
Mom's momo have the "BEST MOMO" out of every momo I have tasted in New York. When you have the first bite of your MOMO you can taste how fresh and delicious it is. Some places have the thin dough layer where they just order it online and doesn't taste like a real home-made but this one is real authentic tibetan style. Prices are very reasonable which is also a plus point. They have beef, chicken & vegetable fillings so you can always get what you desire. For people who are vegetarian there is an option as well so just because you are vegetarian don't mean you cannot have MOMO. If you are foodie like me definitely go to 74th Street-Jackson Heights in queens right in front of the Wendy's. Cannot miss the bright blue color truck. You guys will not regret having this delicious momo and make sure to eat with a spicy sauce and if its too spicy than mix with a white sauce. I travel for one hour just to have this DELICIOUS MOMO so that means it is freaking GOOOOOOOOOD.

Iris K.

Yelp
This momo truck is the best in the area. Friendly service, delicious momos and lapin! Perfect for on the go.
