Slowing Down on a Fall Road Trip Through Vermont

"If Route 100 is the region's quintessential drive, then the shire of Woodstock is its archetypal town. My mom and I have developed a certain intimacy with the place over the course of our many visits, so we quickly lapse into a routine: maple scones at Mon Vert Cafe, hiking along the trails of Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park, browsing our favorite shops on Central Street."

Where to Eat, Drink, and Visit Around Woodstock, Vermont | Eater Boston

"I refueled at Mon Vert Cafe on Central Street, where owner Samantha DiNatale expanded the chalet-style space into two floors plus a patio; I recommend the Monte Vert Cristo (a savory challah French toast sandwich with pan-fried ham and melty Cabot cheese served with real maple syrup), and appreciated the extensive vegan and vegetarian options using fresh bread from Vermont’s Red Hen Baking." - Valerie Li Stack

Cheese Expert Anne Saxelby’s Grub Street Diet

"A charming café in Woodstock that serves excellent coffee (a praised cortado) and fresh road pastries; the cheese-and-fruit Danish is described as soft, sweet, and nostalgically reminiscent of a 1990s toaster pastry." - Alan Sytsma, Margalit Cutler

Mon Vert Café is an absolute gem. The atmosphere is cozy, bright, and inviting—perfect for a relaxed breakfast or lunch. You can tell right away that everything is thoughtfully sourced and freshly made. I had the avocado toast with a poached egg and it was beautifully done—crisp bread, flavorful toppings, and perfectly seasoned. The coffee is excellent too—smooth and strong, just how I like it. The staff was friendly and attentive, even during the busy morning rush. There’s also a nice variety of vegetarian and gluten-free options, which is a big plus. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick bite or lingering over a latte, this place hits all the right notes. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Woodstock!

This restaurant was recommended by a dozen TikToks and reels, praising their food and how this was a must. Spoiler alert: for us, it wasn’t. Mon Vert Café consists of long lines until you order and bland food. I will say this though: their pumpkin spice latte was incredible.

I stopped in for breakfast while staying nearby attending the Flow State mountain biking festival. I loved the how the coffee shop was setup and also their decor! The service was super friendly. Coffee was very good as was the lox bagel I ordered. The main street it's on looked very nice, too. I'll definitely come back next time I'm in town riding my MTB somewhere nearby!

Great breakfast spot. Very busy and they did a good job serving everyone and getting people in and out. I like how you order at one spot and they gove you a buzzer, then they bring your food to the table and take the buzzer. Good system they have and great environment =]

Want to start by saying if you come during the peak season in the fall expect a wait. I came the first weekend in October and based on reviews I’d read before coming I knew it’d be very busy and I’d have to wait so I didn’t have an issue with that. I had the sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and the maple latte, they were okay but I didn’t think it was worth the high price or the wait.

7-20-25. Extremely popular and very crowded for a lunch scene. Sandwiches are deliciously packed with flavor but I found them small in size. Cheapskate portion of two quarter coin size pickles and no other side Ike chips unless you purchase them separately. Conveniently located water containers so you can help yourself. We sat upstairs and that quickly filled up and became loud and very warm, I suggest eating outside if the weather permits. If the outside dining is full take your meal to go and walk a minute south to the beautiful town common area where you will find benches and tables. If this review was helpful please let others know. Thanks

Nice restaurant for a quick snack, breakfast, lunch or just a coffee. We had the pesto chicken sandwich and the breakfast burrito. Both were fine and satisfied our hunger.

Really friendly service, visited a couple times. Decent coffee and I love the older and ‘not fresh’ bakery items which are sold at a reduced price to stop food waste, great idea. The breakfast burrito was great, my only gripe was that the panini was really quite dry and did not have much Garlic Aioli in it at all. Would visit again!
