Excellent, old school Italian deli that has been in business for 20+ years so they must be doing something right. Their sandwiches are always sliced fresh to order, (it may take a little bit but worth the wait) and is one of the best deals in town. The amount of meat and cheese spills out of the sub. All of the bread is delivered fresh in the morning and due to their popularity, they often run out of bread later in the day. You can still get a sandwich on sliced rye if you're really craving one. It is still good but not quite the same.
They carry the full line up of deli meats from the numerous ones needed for their amazing italian combos to several different types of turkeys and roast beefs. The parmigiano-reggiano is imported from Italy, you know that because they bring the wheel out with the perforated rind and have to chop off wedges. Their prosciutto is sliced off of the primal cut of the entire hind leg of the pig, with the hoof still attached. Yeah, its that kind of place, and it's awesome. Mona Lisa also has hot subs like chicken parm, veal parm, meatballs and eggplant parm. They also do a robust amount of catering business as well. I've seen large trays of ravioli, rollatinis and lasagna waiting for pick up as well as 5 foot subs for game days.
You can also peruse their dried pastas and italian dessert boxes while you wait for your order. Calling ahead does help though. Lastly, when you go, aside from trying the Mona Lisa (Italian ham instead of prosciutto), try a chicken cutlet wedge with fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, roasted red peppers and marinated artichokes. You will be glad you did.
