"Despite its name, this 220-room hotel on West Avenue is several blocks from the South Beach melee. What the curved tower lacks in SoBe Deco charm it more than makes up for with a Biscayne Bay view and Marcel Wanders’s surreal decor. His theme is Sleeping Beauty’s castle, which would be pretentious were it not transfixing: Giant chess-piece pillars grace the glossy white lobby; a black filigree staircase sweeps up from the Mondrian Caffe; and the beauty, presumably—a manga-style cartoon waif—pops up everywhere from the lobby to the suites. Pool cabanas, with piles of cushions, look like stage sets, and rooms have a monochrome palette and the odd splash of yellow in the form of a Droog (Wanders’s design firm) armchair or sofa."

The hotel lobby area were beautiful. Rooms were well maintained. Staff for extremely helpful upon check-in and helped accommodate us with a late check-out when our flight was cancelled. A few things that caught me off guard: Resort fee of $50 per night- when I went to go kayaking or paddle boarding-very limited hours of operation, I was told it was only for 30 minutes. At 3:20 they were closing soon and the worker would let me go. Bikes were not around to use. 200 per night security deposit, pool was only open until 7:00am to 7:00pm. Finally, I was told that $200 per night fee would not be back on my card for 5 to 7 days. Not sure if that is a Hotel issue or a credit card issue. Upon check out, the desk was very upfront about this, but not at check-in. I have an excellent stay and if I return to Miami, I would stay her, unless I found a place that had better policies regarding Resort fee and $200 per night hold.

Beautiful resort, lovely pool area overlooking the bay. The room and balcony overlooked the water. There is some signs of wear and tear, rusted patio furniture, chaise pillows with tears, and some water scale on shower fixtures. There was a lot of blank space and area that could have used decorum but other than that, quite lovely. Beautiful fragrance in the halls. Really adequate gym facility. A true mini suite with lots of options to purchase items while still leaving a shelf in the fridge to put your own leftovers and snacks in. Very attractive and polite staff. Easy proximity to everything we wanted to do and go, without any obnoxious crowds or noise. Wonderful mother daughter experience.

Visited for my birthday, Vibe, atmosphere and service was good. Food excellent!! Rooms need upgrading. Overall experience was very good . Security manager Max ensured we had a great stay and provided us excellent customer service. He made sure we had a room that meet our expectation. Once our accommodations were in order our stay was delightful. Will definitely revisit.

Really enjoyed our dinner great vibe and great service. Daria our waitress was fantastic we are vegan and she took the time to explain to us in detail all of vegan options and modifications. By the way the sunset is the best we have seen with full views of downtown. Great experience we will return surely.

The room cleaning staff was HORRIBLE! I was in 1514 on 6/92024. It was our anniversary and my husbands birthday. They didn’t come to clean our room nor bring fresh towels until 4:45 pm. I had already requested service 3 times. Come to find out the attendant lied to her supervisor saying we wouldn’t leave the room for her to clean. We were on the balcony for at least 2 hours we would not have been in her way. We ordered breakfast asked for my eggs to be over hard they came over easy. Really spoiling the moment. I really appreciate Marc Reid for setting up an amazing experience for my husband and myself. He really went above and beyond trying to help me make this a memorable experience for my husband!

Google
Outstanding property and the staff is even better! Carlos our attendant at the pool was the best. We had to deal with intermittent rain storms and every time the rain stopped, he made sure all of the towels and bedding was replaced on our day bed. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was equally great. I forget our server's name (was originally from Bosnia but came to the states 12 years ago) but was equally amazing. I am a lifetime Platinum Marriott member and I have over 1,100 lifetime nights in hotels. The property here and the staff is a MUST EXPERIENCE!!! Can't wait to go back!

Daria was the most wonderful waitress we could’ve had. She was so friendly and kind and made our first time at Baia one to remember for sure ! Huge thanks to her for also staying late night as my girlfriend and I were the last customers. She even recommended wonderful spot for us to visit as well.

Google
The rooms were great and beds were comfortable. The pool was amazing and all of that. When checking out, Sander took our luggage to the back room so we could workout upstairs and utilize the pool before our departure. Great service, clean lobby and overall hotel.

Yelp
This hotel was clean. I usually stay at the Mondrian when I go to Miami, as the area is quiet, the hotel is clean, has a gym, a great pool area, robes and slippers, and more. Highly recommend! Also, love the fact that you get a glass of bubbly upon your arrival.

Yelp
We come to Miami a lot. We've also stayed in other Mondrian locations (LA, NYC...) and the actual hotel and amenities are nice, but the room was a disgrace. I am not convinced that it was cleaned...at all. Hairs everywhere, dust everywhere, hugs globs on dust on light fixtures, broken lights in the shower (have fun showering in the dark), flooding in the bathroom every time you shower which causes water damage everywhere, broken lamp shades, food and crumbs on the windowsill, and the most disgusting matttess pad I've ever seen. The couch was covered in huge stains. Gross. Rundown is an understatement. I don't need fancy, but I do need clean, and this was not clean despite them sending housekeeping "several times". I saw housekeeping chatting and on their phones in the hallway - maybe they should have been cleaning because I am convinced they don't even run a vacuum in the rooms. We spent a lot of money at the pool/bar and the service there was very good so that was one redeeming quality. The 2 stars is for the staff - friendly and warm and the pool staff was great too. But I just can't get over the condition of the room. Absolutely unacceptable. I got sick of asking housekeeping to be sent to the room over and over again. For the record: room 323 - the photos are just the tip of the iceberg - the couch would make you puke (maybe it was puke on the couch) Side note: why is there one tiny mirror in the bathroom? No full length mirror unless you want to see the world through an orange mirror. Also, the door lock didn't work. See video.

Yelp
The Mondrian is a solid stay. Here's what I like about it: the beach club!!! It really is one of the best in Miami. You will have fun with a big group or on a date. Secondly the view here is just stunning!!! Probably my favorite part. The vibes here are always pretty good as well. Really cute decor and the food is tasty. Rooms are spacious and modern, but not overly fancy or luxurious in my opinion. However it's a fun place to stay! Compared to other hotels in the area, the Mondrian can be somewhat more affordable.

Maddy B.

Yelp
By far the best part of staring at the Mondrian is the ocean view! The beach club was so fun and trendy! I loved the poke bowls! I was able to walk to the beach in 10 minutes from the hotel.

Edna G.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel, amazing pool, and GORGEOUS view. My daughter loves this hotel, and stays here every time she is coming to Miami from LA. This time, she came with us, family with small kids and me, her mom. To my opinion, although the hotel is amazing, the service is outstanding (!), and we had a wonderful time here, I wouldn't recommend it to family with kids. It is a little bit far from all the restaurants, shops etc. ( Collins st. , Lincoln st. ) It is about 10-15 min driving, and far from the beach. I think it is better to book a hotel on Collins st. for example, when you have downstairs the main streets, and the beach. All in walking distance. With that being said, for young men and women, group of friends, bechelor/ette party, new wed , and everyone in their 20th, 30th, 40th - this is heaven.

Yelp
The room was big and spacious but lacked of proper closet space. Bathroom was modern in design but a tad run down. No dishes or silverware or pots for the kitchen. Paid $3,500 for four nights, which included the dreadful Resort Fee of $205 ... I expected a little more luxury

Meegan M.

Yelp
This was my original review: "My family(husband and two teenagers) had a very nice stay here. There are many nice things about this hotel: great location, nice pool, large suite and friendly staff. However, I paid extra to get a suite with a kitchen but I was not able to cook in the kitchen. The kitchen comes with nothing-no silverware, no plates, no pots, no pans, no can opener, no colander etc. You can ask for some items but they did not have many items required for cooking. For example, it was not possible to get a cutting board. It's pretty hard to cook without being able to chop anything. I couldnt even make a salad. No cutting board.?! After being told it wasnt possible to get a cutting board, I abandoned all hope of cooking for my family. This was very disappointing." In May I was contacted by the management about my review and asked if I had seen the sign, located int he kitchen, that says "utensils upon request." I had. I requested a cutting board. In May, as during my visit in March, I was told that cutting boards are not provided. So if you are going to pay for a hotel room with a kitchen, I recommend that you ask specifically what you can get. If a cutting board is not possible, what is? A cutting board is a pretty basic kitchen need. 1. Can you get a can opener? 2. Can you get a mixing bowl? 3. Can you get measuring spoons and cups? 4. Can you get a grater? 5. How about a colander or a blender? From experience, I did find you can get plates, and silverware, and pots. But if you want to cook, it seems impossible, or at least extremely limited. I would not recommend staying here if you want to cook for your friends and family.

Yelp
Nice hotel, our room was big and beautiful w/ ocean view and balcony! It had a little kitchenette too complete w/ a mini fridge, microwave and stove. Our room was very nice and clean and loved the bathroom rainfall shower. It's in a cute, safe neighborhood too with lots of people walking their dogs outside. It's right next to a WholeFoods and walking distance to some of the cutest Miami brunch spots like Pura Vida and Joe's coffee! We loved our stay so much that we extended a few more days :) Now we have a go-to hotel in Miami! Thanks Mondrian :)

Yelp
I really wanted to give them more stars. I just couldn't and here are the good and bad: Good, beautiful hotel and very bougie. Always a steady stream of people coming and going and on the weekends, the place is PACKED and you'll see a lot of expensive cars. Maybe you'll even see someone "famous". The pool area is gorgeous with a water/sunscreen station. Sun beds are numerous and comfortable along with towels and covers for them. Very clean. Great bar and gorgeous views. Bad: food and drinks are expensive! It's one thing to charge $12 for a mojito that is in the tiniest cup, and there's no way there's some alcohol in the drink, BUT this drink is $20!!!!!! A grande coffee at Starbucks is bigger than that drink. There needs to be more booze for $20 and a larger cup which is taken over by ice. The food is also very expensive although you do get a good portion. Let's move onto the rooms. Even though I had a do not disturb sign on the door, housekeeping came in three times while I was on a conference call to try and clean a room, but I did not want to be cleaned yet. Then when I did leave the room to go to the pool they never showed back up. I had to call and find out what is going on. The shower didn't work properly the back of the couch is broken which means somebody stood on it and probably jumped up and down. The curtain kept falling off the rod I could barely lock the door Because the bolt is off center. They sent up maintenance to fix the shower. It took him almost an hour and a half as he stood on a trashcan that he put up upside down banged on the shower, swore at the shower and finally was able to fix the shower. Housekeeping did show up. The only thing they did was remove my dirty towels and put new towels in. They did nothing else to the room. There was no compensation by the hotel or the manager. Just a lot of "sorry". Also, we had two separate reservations and upon checking in they did not tell us that we would have to re-check in with our ID and with our credit card all over again like we did the previous day to get back in our room. They also deactivated our key card. That was a real shocker when I couldn't get back to my room If you have trouble getting up from a low position, do not stay here. Our bed was literally 15 inches to 18 inches off the floor. You better have strong thighs or someone to pull you up if you want to get off that bed. The 2 nights we spent here were ridiculous. Noises, loud music, room issues, etc and nothing done about it maybe just maybe...a free drink, would have at least dampened the issues. All my travels, worst hotel so far and I've stayed in 100's. Such a shame. Hope they work out the issues so nobody else has to deal with this. Oh $50 a night to park a car and $45 for resort fees per day.

Aaron C.

Yelp
Since this was our first visit to Florida, we were a little lost as to how everything worked. However, thanks to Ashley and her fantastic customer service, our stay was much more enjoyable.

Yelp
Updated review because I returned to Mondrian to give it another shot and so glad I did! The hotel seems more elevated from the grounds to the restaurant and the crowd. I'm so impressed by the staff and hospitality. Marc and Greter in guest services really cared about my experience and the customer service has been unparalleled this stay. To feel a hotel really cares about their guests satisfaction means the world and will keep me returning for many vacations to come! The restaurant is on the bay with stunning views and tropical vibes. The pool is always a good time. The gym is great and they have a small spa. My favorite are the bay suites with balconies! Best view in Miami at competitive costs. And you can't beat the location! Walking distance to Lincoln Road, Sunset Harbour, South of Fifth! Everything. I wish I could stay forever :)

Yelp
I'd like to preface this by saying that this hotel should really get one star but I'm giving it two because I was able to work with the front desk to receive a partial refund. So we booked 5 rooms at this hotel for 3 nights each for a work-related event. Additionally, we had a meeting room booked. Each room was approximately $400-$500 + resort fees, taxes, etc per night and in total our original bill was about $8k. The first room we were given was absolutely filthy. Bugs everywhere, dust, visible dirt and coffee stains....it was disgusting. We were quickly moved to a larger room on the PH floor which was marginally cleaner, but it still had crumbs all over the floor, drawers and cupboards that wouldn't close, the bathroom was full of mold and had a cracked window, and the entire place smelled like mold. Note that other members of our party mentioned the same issues: including the prevalent mold smell and poor housekeeping. After working with the front desk we were able to get a partial refund of $1,500 on our total bill, which is why this property gets more than 1 star. On the plus side: the restaurant is beautiful and the food there is good, staff throughout the hotel is very friendly and helpful, the view is superb, and the location is great. The bottom line though is that I would never stay at this hotel again and would hesitate to stay at any Mondrian property based on this experience.

Juliana C.

Yelp
Where do I start? Me and the girls spent a good amount of money on the Mondrian expecting it to be everything the pictures entailed! We experienced something very different, a dirty room, unsanitary sheets, broken glass, bed bugs, non shampooed carpet and couch! It was just absolutely filthy . I requested the manager to come look for themselves and HOURS later they sent the housekeeping manager!!!!! She SAW EVERYTHING and said herself it was unacceptable. She told me she would talk to the hotel manage to see what they could do and the BEST they came up with was giving me the resort fee of 200.00 back ??? 200.00 back after we spent easily over 2,000.00 on the room, jet ski's rentals and dinning at their hotel! I'm so upset and I'm the process of writing head quarters because this is not right!

Michael B.

Yelp
There is a lot to like about the hotel, but It was missing the awe factor to make it 5 stars. First off the location is great and central. 11th street is smack in the middle of the action and the bay side is a quick walk to the beach. The hotel isn't cheap and the staff is friendly. I like that there is a Whole Foods right next door. The gym is nice for a quick workout and the pool area is great, but it fills up quickly. The small things that could be improved might be: mopping the floors, fixing the shower head location (water hits right at the edge of the glass door), fix the toilet knob - small stuff. The one thing I didn't have was the food at the hotel.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
The only reason I am giving this hotel a 2 is that the staff is amazing. Everyone was super kind, friendly and attentive. The pool area is also nice. Now for everything else: 1. The rooms are very dated and have not been well kept. 2. The lighting in the bathroom sucks but they probably don't want you to see how gross the bathroom is. Mold in the showers, peeling paint from the walls due to water damage and the soap bottles that just fall off the wall cause they used double sided tape to make them stick. 3. The beds are super uncomfortable and have no mattress pad. 4. They require a $200 per night deposit, plus $50 a day for the resort fee (PS the Wi-Fi sucked) and $46 for parking per night. 5. The TV is probably 20 years old. Definitely never booking here again and do not recommend.

Ali R.

Yelp
Believe all the reviews about the dirty, run down rooms yall!! This hotel definitely needs an immediate renovation. This hotel opened in 2008. We stayed here in July 2010 and we are back in February 2024 and there is a huge difference in the rooms. The owners have no integrity for Dutch Designer Marcel Wanders, who delivered a beautiful minimalist modern concept. We booked 3 rooms this time. All the TV's are still from 2008!!! The shower door and tiles all have hard water stains. This is definitely due to deferred maintenance. Stains on the sofa, burn marks on the toilet seat, dust all over the chandeliers, dust on the base boards (also hallway baseboards), missing bedside table lights, stains and water marks on all surfaces, dirty finger marks on all doors, noticeably poor paint touch ups, tile flooring has not been scrubbed properly, green glass doors to on-suite looks like they have not been cleaned in months, carpet in living area has rolled edges...see all the photos. It is clear that the cleaning staff is not qualified, and are not well trained. No attention to detail! The entire cleaning staff and whoever is supervising them needs to be replaced immediately! They threw away my son's shoe inserts and left a cleaning spray bottle and blanket crumpled on the floor. All this was on arrival and after house keeping left during the stay. Unacceptable. It is easy to get caught up by the location, ambiance, restaurant and pool, the spa was very nice also. The Mondrian ownership is relying on this and the design concept, but not delivering across the board. They can do so much better, but it seems like greed has set in or this hotel has been bought and sold too many times, and/or is owned and managed by parties outside of the USA without oversight.

Yelp
Edited and update: First let me just say I feel almost awful at how honest this is going to be...I hate complaining but this was just a nightmare so we're back to two stars (only bc mark tried but that even went to shit) Manager addressed the shit show below and gave me accommodations. However, the food was horrible as well which is just the worst bc I had to tell them. Nothing is more uncomfortable than already calling twice then again about the food they were crediting me. Lobster so over cooked you couldn't bite through it. The salad and dessert was at least edible. I asked to switch lobster for some appetizers because I had to eat something. I feel bad but I have to be honest. There were also other random fees on the bill literally listed as "other". When I asked, she said it was automatic 20% gratuity and delivery fees. The manager said he would deliver it because of the situation but they charge me prob like $100 extra in just tips and deliveries for about $100 in food because they kept fucking up my order. They basically would come back with a fixed item and recharge more fees. I asked to talk to manager, Mark but he has not responded. They're probably thinking I'm just making it up but I'm not. I'm fact another rude staff member was like, did you eat the lobster? I said no and gave it back to her (picture below). Original review: 1) There was blood and dirt all over the first room. Moved us rooms. Lights not working. 2) they had me pay resort fees and the pool isn't open... in fact, I did not know that because the front desk just showed it to me and another staff yelled they were closed and forced us out (as if we were like breaking a rule) 3) the staff here is terribly rude. I went to the restaurant. No one was there at check in. Went to ask staff and hostess comes and says "you need to check in" I said you weren't there, she said "someone was there" (literally no one was there). 4) manager never apologized or accommodated us 5) this place is literally a shit hole and the food is overpriced for what appears to be garbage 6) this is a dump and I'll make sure to tell all my business partners and associates who work in hospitality

Nia A.

Yelp
I am so disappointed. This hotel has gone down the drain. The service is terrible, the bathrooms are gross, the shower curtain has mold, I asked the maids to change the sheets and one of them literally told me no, every time they come in they only refresh the towels and make the bed. Last night I asked for utensils and napkins and it took them 3 phone calls within an hour and half time spa for them to only bring me 2 utensils. The food comes without plates. It's in takeaway bags. It's just so freaking sad to come here with my gfs and get such disappointing service. We still another two more days here so fingers crossed it gets better.

Lance Y.

Yelp
Nice hotel but needs a renovation rooms are kinda of tired, the pool and views are nice, the gym is nice, the rooms just feel ten years old. Great location would not recommend for families, good for couples or party weekends

Michelle L.

Yelp
Amazing Spectacular view. You must get a balcony suite facing the bay. It is worth everything and especially if you are from out of town, this is a beautiful view of Miami and its gorgeous sunset. Like in everything, there are pros and cons. Sometimes the pros so outweigh the cons that you can let cons slide. For the cons: The building and it's amenities are a little outdated and the suites can be refurbished. Balcony noise can get loud if you are not in the party mood, be aware. Pros: Everything was clean, check in a breeze, very nice front desk assistance and concierge, room upgrade for the win, complimentary check in champagne, nice pool DJ vibe, and wonderful views. I can sit in that balcony for hours and even inside your suite the double glass sliding doors have a perfect view. It's the glass balconies. So nice. I enjoyed my birthday stay here. Oh and they have complimentary bikes and other things that are part of the resort fee. Not bad would definitely recommend. It's far from the ocean but it's a nice escape out of hectic crazy south beach.

Yelp
Everything was amazing and beyond All our expectations! Stacy is just an amazing manager and I wanted to thank her a lot for treating my family and I so kindly. The pool here is amazing and the water is warm. The rooms are amazing and I recommend everyone stay here as the location is close to everything!!! Very recommended

Yelp
Stayed here one night for work. I'm usually at the W on South Beach but this month the W seemed like I'm they wanted to rape my wallet. I mean comm'on!! $850 on a Monday night?!? Anyway decided to try Mondrian and I was very pleasantly surprised! I was told they recently renovated their pool and restaurant area and it was beautiful! The food was good too! The crowd was a bit hype, heard it was quite the spot for parties. I was a bit jealous as I sat in my room working, but people watching like a creeper from my room was enjoyable hahah! I'm not yet ready to get out and mingle anyway during Covid era.. to each their own, still good to see people enjoying themselves! I would recommend this place if you don't mind party noise. If you're looking to hit the beach it's quite a walk so be prepared to uber.

Alanah D.

Yelp
Hotel was VERY dirty. 100% sure the towels were used but folded and put up. There was makeup and hair on the sheets..... stains everywhere... if you want to park your car at the hotel it's 50-100 $ PER DAY... there's so much more. Bad experience will never come back.

Allyx s.

Yelp
ROACHES!!!!!!!! I wish I could give zero stars. The lobby and pool area of the hotel are beautiful but the rooms are NASTY! This place is infested with roaches! We were afraid to bring our luggage inside when we returned home, in case there were any stowaways. We grabbed dinner on our first evening in Miami and when we opened the door to our hotel room and turned on the lights, roaches scattered everywhere! One roach got stuck in the table so i took a picture of it. The bathrooms were dirty and the toilet seats gross. I would not expect this for a hotel charging over $900 per night. And after all of this, management would not refund us! Don't support this hotel.

Yelp
My experience here at the Mondrian has been nothing more or less than a mess. I've stayed at the Mondrian in Los Angeles, and definitely had the luxurious experience. Here in Florida I chose to go and stay at the Mondrian because of my many amazing experiences, in Los Angeles. 1. We had dirty dishes in our room and had to rewash them in order to use them. Our coffee pot was filthy and had spilled coffee all over it from whoever stayed before before. The robes that were hung in the closet one of them had make up on it still. The following morning we ordered room service, and our waffles were like bricks. My coffee was so hot it left white bumps on my tongue. They were very accommodating and gave us a complementary breakfast. Andrea, was amazing in that situation and continues to be amazing every time we see her. I appreciated how much she cared in that moment. That same day the hotel caught on fire, so we were then rushed out of the building and had to stand out in the heat for quite some time. The following day, Our Hotel hall way smelt like human poop for a few hours all the way into our room. After our second day here, I started noticing little bumps on my body. I was getting bit up by either fleas or bedbugs. I have not been to the beach or walked through any through grass to have accumulated bites any where else. I basically ate out , slept in my bed and spent time at the pool. I have not been anywhere to get mosquito bites or any other kind of bites. At this point I am so sick and tired of complaining about things here . I thought I would just save it for the end of my trip to see how the rest of things go. To top it off our ice maker down the hall did not work, and the front desk had their moments of being rude about telling us to go down and get our own ice. I am not impressed at all by the customer service, the room service food, or the amenities. This is definitely not luxury. The carpet in room 712 is old and musty leaving the room with a musty smell if u do not leave the door open while u are gone. It's disgusting and the TV looks like it's from 2010. Hopefully if you choose to go to this hotel, you will have a better experience than we did. It definitely put a damper on our vacation. Lastly, I want to compliment Andrea, Janina our bartender, and Sander the bellman for being the best part of our stay at the Mondrian. They definitely are three people who give top-notch customer service.

Yelp
Called in advance to inquire about accommodating an early checkin. Was asked what time to be expected, I said 2:00-2:30PM. Arrived at 2:15, was told the room wasn't ready, understandable. However, checkin is at 4:00PM. We watched as 4:00 came and went and other families checked in and directly received their accommodations. The room itself while large is dated and in poor condition. The kitchenette has a mini fridge but it's packed full of for purchase items leaving no room for use defeating the purpose. No utensils, plates, cups, pots, or pans, although a sign states utensils available upon request. Outlets are busted, shower is lousy. Well, that's the physical.... The staff is cold and unwelcoming. "Family friendly" absolutely NOT. First come first serve extremely limited pool seating, day beds and cabanas for rent are the only way to guarantee a spot to "enjoy the pool". Sunrise to sunset are the pool hours but don't get in the way of staff as they prep the for rent day beds because officially the pool won't open until 11:00AM. If you have kids, make sure they practice library etiquette at the pool because we're the only ones in it at 10:00AM and my children were asked to quiet down. Maybe they should try telling party goers to quiet down when they start blasting music at 5:15AM because I'm sure that is far more disturbing than my kids laughter and excitement in the empty pool. I can say with 100% certainty I will never recommend or return to this establishment. Three more nights to go; on the bright side I don't believe it could get worse so it's only up from here for the Mondrian. (See photo) Who were we disturbing? If the answer is guests, then perhaps they'd like to switch rooms because I'd much rather a 10AM wake up to a child having fun in the pool than a 5:15AM wake up to house music and insanity in the halls.

Yelp
My wife booked two deep tissue massages after the 305 half marathon for her and me. The spa is small, dimly lit, and has a very relaxing vibe. The employees were nice. You are welcome to drink some relaxing tea containing CBD while you wait for your service. But that's about all the good that place offers. The massage therapists did not know what massage we paid for: Swedish or deep tissue. After some clarification, and then checking their sheet, we confirmed deep tissue. Neither massage was deep tissue; not even close. I'm not even sure I would call it Swedish massage. My therapist was named Juan. He was a nice and soft spoken guy, but I dare say he doesn't know much about anatomy. He rubbed my back more laterally than vertically (in the direction of the muscle fibers, which deep tissue requires). I think he attempted to hit pressure points, but the scalp, knee cap are not locations where one can do deep tissue massage. I mentioned he could go harder, which he did for one stroke, and moved on. We both left disappointed and wishing we had a deep tissue massage that we had ordered. The bill automatically adds a 20% tip, which could be worth it if the service was good, but it wasn't. We wanted to use the pool (which other hotels allow), but we're told we could not do that. Afterwards, we wanted to get a drink at the outside bar. If you are not a guest at the hotel, good luck with that! We finally got an explanation that we could go outside and ask to be seated. The hostess said that we could sit at either bar, so we headed to the pool bar. Another employee promptly stopped us from going to the pool bar, saying it was reserved for hotel guests. We returned to the other bar, which was full. Other available tables in the shade were "reserved for guests coming shortly". They offered us another table in the sun, but it wasn't worth it. It seemed like they were more interested in kicking us out rather than serving us, so we left, probably to never return again.

Yelp
I came here with a friend on a Spa Day. If you spend $150 or more you have access to their pool and spa services (although because of Covid, we weren't allowed to use the sauna, lockers, or shower. The pool view is beautiful. The chairs have seen better days, but they cover them for you. We were going to sit in a bed, but were quickly shoo'd away by a worker and told we needed to order/spend $500 to sit there minimum. I wasn't really bothered by this as a lot of hotels put minimums on the premium beds around their pools, although I thought $500 sounded excessive as this hotel isn't really high end. But it's cool we chose other beds to lay in. My gf wasn't pleased to see the people who did lay in the same bed who were not shoo'd away and also didn't order anything, as now she was curious what single person would spend such an amount at a pool. Well, she was convinced they were not told about the price to lay there because they were white. (I'm on the fence about the whole thing, but it did put a bit of a damper on our morning.) They told us wait service by the pool would begin at 11am. It really didn't start til about 11:40. Most of the wait staff were just standing around visibly shooting the breeze. Once they did begin service, they were all very attentive and professional. We ordered beer and fries, because we didn't have much time before our massage appointment. The fries were very yummy. The massage parlor was nice enough. We had bought a Yelp deal, but the spa would not honor it or give us any credit as they stated they had just gone through a renovation and they were no longer the GuyNGirl Spa. We were upset, but decided to go through our massages nonetheless as it was my friend's bday. (It was sad that they didn't even try to at least give her something for the misunderstanding but again, what could we do, we were there to relax, so we were doing our best to just let it roll off our backs.) we are still waiting to hear from Yelp about a refund or compensation :( My massage was decent enough. Not the best nor the worse. My friend really enjoyed hers and spoke very highly of her masseuse and his knowledge. After the massage we went back to the pool but opted to sit at their bar and have drinks. Although, the drinks were pricey, they were well done. When one of the bartenders found out it was my friend's bday, he gave a round of shots. (Very cool ) Overall, there were moments when the day could of been soured by some of the inadequacies around us, luckily they do have staff that are quality, which could be this establishments saving grace, that and the view.

Yelp
Unfortunately, the place is extremely loud in the pool area that you can hear it daily from the 10th floor. You cannot work during the day comfortably from your room nor have some peace because the music is banging techno at all times even morning and night. The valet team does a wonderful job though.

Yelp
filthy rooms, old and outdated, bad service. we arrived at midnight and planned to stay for just the night. It took 20 minutes for us to check in because the system was down, and when we asked for a later check out because of the inconvenience we were greeted with an attitude and refused. The lobby and room were so filthy. It looked like nobody had vacuumed for weeks and the carpet was several years old with cigarette burns and stains. The hand held shower did not work and we could here water dripping all night. we tried to call room service and it took about 10 tries before somebody picked up. for $600 a night I expect at the very least a clean hotel room. very disappointed in my stay here.

Yelp
The Mondrian South Beach is clean, staff is friendly and helpful. It's about 10 min walk from the beach with a view of the ocean from both sides. The rooms are big and comfortable. Definitely recommend if you're looking classy yet low key hotel, Mondrian is where you want to book.

Erin S.

Yelp
We were booked at the Mondrian for 1 night before leaving on a cruise. Staff and restaurant were great but there were some issues of them not having my reservation that took a few hours to sort out, but it was fixed. The biggest downside is that the hotel, and particularly the 6th floor, reeked of mold and mildew. It was so bad that the smell permeated the PJ's I had worn to the point they had to be cleaned several times to lose the smell.

Yelp
I enjoyed my massage for the most part, but what left me with a terrible taste was the audacity for a male employee to be in the female locker room without ANY acknowledgement. I was changing after my massage to hear a scuffle and as I went back to use the restroom I found a male employee standing there. I was literally just changing thinking only ladies were in here to having a male presence. I felt so uncomfortable with the whole situation. On top of that after we were paying the lady told us the total was 540 with gratuity already added and she emailed us the receipt. We left. Then 40 mins after leaving the spa I get a second receipt and email charging us more than what we talked about. No explanation or phone call asking us to recharge the card or anything. Regardless if she made a mistake which I'm assuming that's what allegedly happen then you need to call and explain. I didn't give any Consent to charge my credit card twice. Ladies be careful when using the locker room. I guess you need to check to make sure it's only females in the locker room. And check your credit cards that they aren't charging it more. We tried calling. I hope someone gets back to us.

Yelp
If I could give this hotel a negative rating, I would do it 10000000000 times over. Where do I begin? I will start from day 1 .... We checked into the hotel to find dirt in the sink, dust all over the floor, stains on the bedsheets, stains on the blinds, and dirt in the drinking cups. We called the front desk immediately and their response was "we're a little busy right now" also one individual literally responded saying "that sucks" yeah no shit Sherlock. We finally went down to the front desk and they offered us another room and then stayed "there was something wrong with that room as well" I'm sorry but if there are so many things wrong with your hotel, maybe you should be fixing them. The bellhops even said that the rooms were dirty and that we weren't the only ones to complain. We weren't asking for much... all we wanted was a clean environment, I didn't realize paying over $400 a night would give you trash as a hotel. Our toilet was making so much noise in the middle of the night we had to close all the doors to both our bedrooms and bathrooms. We also got bottles sent to our room from our work at 3:00PM and at 6:00 PM they came to our room and asked for a bottle back that was paid for because they "accidentally" sent it up to our room. I immediately thought something was suspicious and asked them to bring up a receipt for proof, the girl told me that I would have to go down for the receipt? I then told her how funny it was that they sent someone upstairs 3 hours later to get the bottle but they wouldn't bring up the receipt to show proof to my room. She then looked at me dumbfounded and later brought up the receipt, they charged us for both bottles!!!! They freaking charged us for both bottles but came to retrieve one, so we had them reimburse us for the bottle they took. At checkout we were looking at our bill and they charged us for alcohol that was supposedly taken, we literally ordered Instacart for bottles of tequila and vodka but they managed to say we drank their Jack Daniel's? We fought it with the manager and she removed it off the bill because it was clear we did not take anything from the minibar. The most they did for us was waive the resort fee which is what they should do for everyone considering resort fees are charged to keep the hotel up to par which clearly it was not. Oh let's make matters worse, we ordered an Uber and all 9 bellhops literally were going to jump their Uber driver because he wasn't moving up because there was a line .::: there was no line, it was a Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM. The only good thing about this resort was Carlos from baia beach, if you ever need anything there, he is your man: best attitude and friendly service. Overall, this hotel is trash..... do not stay here... ever... even if it's for free. Unless they get a new manager and new staff and deep clean the entire hotel.

Yelp
I don't know what has happened in the past couple of years but wow. I celebrated my bday here in 2021 and it was amazing. Just tried coming here for a 3 night stay in July and it was absolutely terrible. I had no idea, wish I had read the reviews before coming back! Only stayed a night and then went somewhere else. Only reason we even stayed is because it took forever to get into a cleanish room and it would waste more of the day trying to go somewhere else. I would never stay here again. First of all, we had to change rooms 3 times upon arrival. First room smelt of mold, mold in the bathroom, on the curtains, dirty toilet, thick layer of dust everywhere. 2nd room, no mold smell but mold on the curtains & shower, super dirty and dusty and pee on the toilet seat. Door was broken. 3rd room was acceptable clean, so we took it. Everything just looks soooo old and dirty everywhere though. This hotel has not been taken care of in the slightest, besides the pool area. The balcony was so close to the next room with no privacy divider, that we literally felt like we were sitting all together. So awkward that we didn't even get to enjoy going out there. The bed is so uncomfortable I woke up in pain every hour. The pool was a trashy nightmare, I'm not even going to go in to detail but my safety was put at risk by some staff members. We seriously couldn't wait to get out of this place!!

Yelp
The concern I have for the hotel is how dirty this place is. In the picture is specifically the bathroom. The bathroom was small and dark overall. The shower has so much soap build up and not being scrubbed clean it was disgusting. I felt like I need shower shoes. The room was outdated. There was no other mirror than the dark bathroom. The food at the hotel was overpriced and disgusting. I also wouldn't recommend that. The only good thing about the hotel was the customer service and the view. I would NOT recommend staying base on cleanliness. I was disappointed to have paid $1,500 for Friday to Saturday for the terrible location and cleanliness of this place. Location: My friend and I ended up taking a ride share everywhere else which was about a 20 mins every time.

Yelp
For casual food and drinks next to the pool, and experience the vibes of a pool party this is the place to be

Yelp
I can't even properly describe how horrible our 1 night stay was at this hotel. Checking in was a disaster and here are photos of what we encountered. This is worse than a Motel 8.

Yelp
Chantal Is impressive! We are here for a bachelorette party. The Mondrian is beautiful not too mention the pool area. Sever Chantal, was super friendly and efficient. Before I had to ask for anything extra, she was on her way to assist. We appreciated that extra awareness in service. The burger was great, our drinks were perfect!. We will definitely stay here again and would recommend sitting with Chantal.

Yelp
I'm sad that I have to leave this review. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, the hotel was DISGUSTING. I stayed for a total of 3 nights, but divided into two trips. When you first walk in, the hotel looks beautiful. Their pool and outdoor dining area are gorgeous. When you get to the room, it's hard to believe that you are in the same hotel as the beautiful pool and restaurant downstairs. There was a huge stain on both of my sofas, food stains on the floors, mold and hair all over the shower, one of my showers did not work well. I had to use the hand held shower. One of my toilets did not flush properly. I had to flush twice in order for it to work. One of my floors were broken in the bathroom. There was a whole in my headboard and they used TAPE to fix it. It was raining outside so we decided to stay in one night and watch movies. My TV did not work, and a technician had to come in and fix it. It worked for about an hour and stopped working again. There was SO much dust everywhere and my headboard to the bed had several stains. The curtains also had several stains. I really dreaded staying there. If it weren't for the fact that I already paid, I wouldn't have stayed there. This place is not worth the price. Management needs to do a better job with the cleanliness of the rooms. What we experienced during our stay was completely unacceptable.

Yelp
Black colored mold in shower and the worst service ever. Will Neve stay again. When contacted about how my stay was, all I got was nonsense replies. No action. Room service and front desk don't answer calls or hung up on me. Then when room service finally called me back it was 8 am and I was checking out. All I wanted was some cream or creamer for coffee. They gave me packets of crappy powder, same as you would get at a Motel 6. Lame NEGATIVE stars

Yelp
Love this spot. It's one of my favorite places to come when I visit Miami. Their Poké bowl is amazing as well as their "Smackdown" cocktail!

Yelp
When you first enter you will be in awe of how beautiful the hotel is. The security, valet and front desk staff are top seniors at their job. The way you are greeted makes you feel as if your stay will be phenomenal. I booked this hotel for my daughter's surprise 10th birthday and wanted it to be as a amazing as it was when we checked in. Upon going to the room we were handed Prosecco, we were greeted with the beautiful hallway decor and sweet smelling scents. We were delighted to see the sticker of cleanliness approval on our door. Sadly, the beauty wore off when we saw confetti on the floor, hair in the closet and sink, stains in the sofa, something pink on the bed and remnants of the last party on the walls... In this day and age of Covid-19 cleanliness should be every hotels TOP Priority! I'm aware we are all human and of course we can make mistakes and miss a few spots but when its blatant and in front of you, you can't help but think that housekeeping needs to be revamped at this 4.5 star hotel. The hotel needs to have a better policy for when something like this happens and the guests ask to switch rooms or stay in it. We opted to stay and have housekeeping come an clean the room however no one showed up for 40 mins . We then requested to switch and was told we'd have to exit the room have them store our luggage and wait 1 hour or more for another room to be ready or pay $30 extra a night for a double occupancy room that was available. Once someone did arrive to check they did right by us... I believe she is the housekeeping manager, and if she's not she needs to be! Her name Rose; she did her thing in the room. Her level of care vindicated my review from a 1 star to a 3 star. She came in saw the nonsense and was so apologetic given we literally just checked in and was greeted with the mess. The staff and stay was better everyday after. Thank you for making our experience better than it started off.

Yelp
When I heard the name, I was ready to be wrapped in Luxury! I mean the lobby is beautiful but I was rather dissapointed with m alll the small things. Some people stay at hotel for a place to lay they head but in there for ambiance and for the other aesthetics. The lobby is beautiful. Nice chandeliers and many opportunities for nice photo opps. As you go into the pool area, where it was packed for most of the weekend. I was shocked to see that the carpet was weathered and tatered. It looked old and unkept. My mouth dropped to see this. So now to the room. We had a white keather couch in the living room area, the leather was torn and worn. I couldn't believe that this was in someone's hotel. The carpets in room also felt dirty and I was relieved that the whole room wasn't carpeted. The cleanest place in the hotel for me was the spa. I opted to bathe there after my spa treatment becuase I wasn't pleased with the bathroom. I appreciated that it was spacious but the bath curtains were not the best and the windows in the shower were not opaque so whilst bathing you can be seen by someone out on their balcony . Not sure if I would return to a Mondrian. I was very disappointed and I guess my expectations were very high and I was let all the way down .

Hannah W.

Yelp
Ok, everyone knows this spot. Of course it's gorgeous and has one of the best waterfront pools in Miami. BUT, where is the bathroom counter space?? The entire counter is one giant sink. How are the girls supposed supposed to get ready when our curling irons are submerged in sink water? Also, no room for cosmetics or essentials because those too will get wet. Lastly, there are no drawers or closet spaces for our clothing, so we are all living out of our suitcases. The irony is that we have a stove and kitchen, with no pots or pans. Very good use of space, Mondrian. Other than that, great food, pool servers are excellent, and of course the views. That is all.

Makalah J.

Yelp
I had such an amazing time here! I had a package delivered and was having a hard time locating it. The front desk especially Josh was so helpful and communicative in solving the issue. He even remembered my name which was so surprising considering the amount of guests! I felt so comfortable and at home, definitely going to stay here every time I'm in Miami.

Nina J.

Yelp
Hotel guests couldn't barely Get sat at the pool without a minimum. Place was ok, won't be staying at Mondrian again.

Joanna C.

Yelp
I can't believe it's a 5 star hotel but I find it the worst of all. First of all the rooms were disgusting. There was stains on the sofa, the bathroom was rusty, the balcony had water which is a hazard because hello anyone could slip especially with the slippery floor they have. The service was terrible oh my god. The manager there I think it was a girl I can't remember her name but she had dark brown hair. She was so rude and told us basically we have no options to switch out my room again because once they changed my room the first time the second one was still disgusting. We finally changed rooms but we're still bad. We just didn't care at this point because we saw no difference. I'm very disappointed in the service and how the ambiance is here. The restaurant service as well was bad. They took forever to bring me a salsa I asked for and napkins. I wouldn't ever come back.

Dianne M.

Yelp
DO NOT STAY HERE. You are better off paying a little bit more elsewhere. Mondrian hotel is DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEWARE. I repeat.. hotel rooms here are disgusting. Upon check in my hotel room was 82 degrees. The smell was musty and heavy. Not sure how to even describe it. The floors were dirty. They have a rug under the bed for decor which looks like it has been thrown outside in the mud, dipped in the bay, and brought back in. Smallest hotel closet I have ever seen. My medium checked bag and carry on didn't even fit in there zipped up standing. Neither alone fit inside laying down. Closet rails were rusted. No hangers. No iron or ironing board. Countertops and tables, night stands, and bathroom all had noticeable smudges left by the last guest... or past five. No wipe down or even dusting happening in these rooms. I wash my hands after touching anything in the room. That is how dirty and gross it was. Found tiny hairs in the bathroom sink and shower. WTF Once again, the floors were so disgusting that I kept my shoes on in the room most of the time. White socks were BROWN after on the few times I walked around the room without shoes. The decor is extremely outdated and cheap. Furniture (chairs nightstand table lamps etc) look like they were bought in bulk from a 90's garage sale for 50 cents each. The chairs squeak when you sit on them. Nightstands have peeling paint and the one fabric chair had stains on it No full body mirror but they did throw orange film on the only useable mirror aside from the bathroom. Nice TV only has cable. About 15 channels max and apps like Netflix (which also has it's own button on the remote) don't actually work because the room TVs are decades old and not compatible with subscription apps per the front desk. Why mislead your guests? There is a random "kitchen" in every room and a stove top? This was the most confusing since they don't even provide kitchenware like pots or pans or utensils. PLATES? Anyhow, who the fuck is cooking and even then with what? Could you imagine going on a vacation to MIAMI BEACH and packing pots and pans because Mondrian said every room comes with a stovetop Top con of my stay: every door has a 2 inch gap. I heard every door on my floor slam shut, people talking and walking past at all hours. If I wanted to, I could put my head on the floor and see clearly into each room. That is how big the door gap is. Huge safety concern but great for peeping toms or sketchy hotel employees who can easily tell if guests are in their rooms or not. This place is a health hazard I am truly in awe people willingly stay here and pay 300-500+ a night. From a sincere stranger, take your money elsewhere than this motel 6 in disguise. I would imagine this is what it's like. Calling this hotel a dump would be a compliment. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
