Amazing experience overall. The atmosphere is great, very welcoming and perfect for a night out. The service was excellent; our server was extremely friendly and attentive. The drinks are outstanding, especially the Dirty Little Martini, which is a must-try. The sushi was just as impressive — the Drunken Tiger Roll was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and perfectly balanced. Highly recommend this place. I’ll definitely be coming back.

First time here, my wife and I, had an impromptu date, and definitely will be back. It happened to be a Happy hour (Thur) 5-6:30pm - we ordered 6 different sushi rolls and they’re fresh & delicious. The hot sake & prosecco didn’t disappoint either!

Food and drinks were amazing as well as the service. Very fresh ingredients and more premium sushi quality. I definitely recommend and will be back!

I love this place so much! The food is always delicious, fresh, and consistent. The cocktails are really good and the staff is always welcoming. My favorite dish is the love me tender and the bartender makes a really good amaretto sour. I miss the peppercorn shrub on the charming snake!! But that drink is still delicious on its own too.

I got to know this restaurant through the introduction of Chef Chiori and visited there. The atmosphere of the restaurant was clean and modern. The cocktail was delicious, the sashimi was fresh, and the rolls were delicious. It was nice to grill cod with vegetables and rice, but it was seasoned a little. Strangely, the appetizer came out the last, so I couldn't eat it all, and it's a little expensive, but overall, it's a restaurant I want to go back to.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My boyfriend and I went to Monkey 68 for a birthday dinner and did the Omakase experience ($95 per person), and it was absolutely worth it! Our chef, Gustavo, was amazing — very knowledgeable about each fish, gave great recommendations, and truly made our first Omakase experience wonderful. The general manager was also fantastic and surprised us with a special birthday cocktail, which made the night even more memorable. The fish was incredibly fresh — my personal favorites were the salmon and tuna. I highly recommend Monkey 68 if you’re looking for a high-quality Omakase and a memorable dining experience around downtown Alpharetta. I’d also suggest going on a weeknight when the crowd is smaller for a more intimate vibe. I’m already looking forward to coming back for their Bluefin cutting experience soon!

I ordered the Ba Ba Bu roll (which was half off during happy hour!) and the 5 Sashimi platter (15 pieces in total, 3 of each). Fish was fresh and delicious, melting in my mouth basically. The Ba Ba Bu roll had a delightfully bright note with the lemon! Overall, such a great experience. Would definitely recommend!

Came by on a Sunday to try their rolls since they are half off then. Huge restaurant with lots of seating and good for a date. Service was friendly. We ordered the rainbow roll, ba ba bu, salmon lover (forgot the name), and big tempura (also forgot the exact name). Rolls were not amazing and not bad either. Quite westernized and good as an intro to sushi for those not familiar. Likely won't return but glad we got to try it!

My best friend and I randomly chose monkey 68 on a Friday night when we couldn't decide what to eat (and everywhere else needed reservations at 7:30). We did call ahead but didn't make reservations. It was right near downtown Alpharetta, but tucked away a few blocks ahead with its own parking lot. It was pretty crowded (again peak time on a Friday night) but we were sat at a high top without any reservations. We ordered two rolls (Ba ba bu and one whose name I forgot) and the bang bang shrimp. If I could eat that bang bang shrimp has the only meal for the rest of my life, I would.

I'm a huge fan of Chirori so I was excited to try Chef Jackie's new restaurant, Monkey 68 Kitchen & Bar in Alpharetta. Apparently, there's a Monkey 68 in Roswell as well so don't make the same mistake I did & go to the right location lmao. I visited last night, which happened to be Alpharetta Restaurant Week & tried their tasting menu. OMG, everything was soooo goood & I left feeling full & satisfied. My fav new drink is the Matcha Highball, Japanese Whiskey & Matcha is a match made in heaven!! The Iheartdogs cocktail is very refreshing as well!! Do yourself a favor & come check it out (: you def won't be disappointed! Thank you Chef Jackie, Misty & Daniel for your hospitality & impeccable service. I've always had a great experience with Chef Jackie & his team. Food, service & ambiance always on point! Can't wait to come back to try their other menus as well! ^^

Wow, what an unbelievable afternoon of a culinary delight. I finally got an opportunity to go see my favorite sushi chef, chef Jackie Chang, at his new sushi restaurant Monkey 68 Kitchen And Bar in Alpharetta along with my mom, Ron, Chef Aaron Phillips of Lazy Betty and his lovely wife Lai. Chef Jackie's Omakase course was bar none the best I have ever had; Chef Aaron even joked that Chef Jackie was working towards a Michelin star and that would not be an understatement. Thank you, Chef Jackie, and Misty for your incredible hospitality and for accommodating my eating time window and opening an hour earlier than the usual business hours. Cannot wait for our next get together to explore more exotic culinary concoctions.

Ignore all of the old reviews. Since 1/22/24, Monkey 68 is under completely new ownership, and it shows. Chef Jackie, who helped open Umi and Oku, as well as his current restaurant, Chirori, has taken the helm and steered this ship right. My friends and I are hugeeeee fans of Chirori, so it made sense to attend their soft opening. We don't trek OTP for no damn reason, but it was well worth it. I need everybody to come and experience it because it's one of the best meals I've had in a very long time, and ya girl likes to eat. We all opted for the decadent omakase. This is a 15 course nigiri omakase, which is similar to their offering at Chirori. They also offer the signature option, which includes an appetizer, 10 pc sashimi, hot course, 8 pc nigiri, and likely dessert and soup (I forgot what he said). Both options cost $130 and while it is a steep price tag, it's on par with the other omakases around town. This one, though, is worth every penny. Chef Jackie sources his fish fresh (like uni from Hokkaido or these stupid good jumbo oysters from LA), and you can definitely tell. Each bite of nigiri completely melts in your mouth. My god. I kept thinking the bite I was eating was my favorite, but then I'd try the next and change my mind. Absolutely outstanding. They are like butter when they hit your tongue, and you almost get upset because you wanted to savor it for so much longer. Chef created the black magic roll at Oku and brought it to Monkey 68. YES. MAAM. still as amazing as I remember. God bless. We also got to try the asparagus tempura, Brussels sprouts, and squid ink sashimi box from our neighbors, and you guessed it...all delicious. Cocktails were just as good. Each drink is modeled after one of the Chinese zodiac animals. Between the four of us, we tried the pig, rabbit, horse, dog, dragon, and goat. Each has a unique flavor profile, and we loved them all. The horse was my favorite with the muddled strawberries and ginger beer. So refreshing. The goat was my second favorite. Like a warm hug. Talk to the bartender. She's got a back story for each drink, and I was too lit to remember them all. But for instance, the snake drink has a numbing effect since when you're bitten by a snake, you often get numbed. Or the goat drink has a kick to it because...it's a goat. Our servers were amazing. Staff from top to bottom were so pleasant. Free onsite parking. Entrance is in the front (we walked to two different "doors" only to be redirected. I hate driving out this far, but I will gladly do it to eat this food again.

Monkey 68 is seriously one of the best Japanese inspired restaurants in the area. The place is under new ownership in 2024, and chef-owner Jackie brings a real passion to his work. I eat at Monkey 68 every time I'm in town, and I request seats at the bar to watch him and his crew perfecting their craft. I ask Jackie to serve me whatever inspires him, and I've never been disappointed. The wine list is very good, but I recommend to try the craft cocktails. The food is the star of the show, as it should be. Some of my favorites have been wagyu & toro, smoked Spanish Mackerel, smoked cod, and a delicious raw tuna dish on special seaweed. The service is also very good. Our water glasses remained full and our plates were arranged between courses. Highly attentive staff. Check out the DutchCrafters furniture showroom at the back of the building too.

Brand new management and went to the soft opening today. Chef Jackie has proven himself as a savior of restaurants because the service and food quality we got tonight was above superb. Shoutout to Swan and Ethan who took so much care of us tonight! The music and the finishes of the restaurant was such a vibe. When dining here you feel like you are part of the upper echelon without breaking the bank. The parking is easy just make sure you enter from the front entrance as there is a furniture store entrance that can get confusing. Overall amazing experience. DRINKS WERE SOME OF THE BEST IVE HAD! They have zodiac drinks, so my goal is to try the entire calendar!

TLDR ; food was not bad, experience was facepalm ‍ It had been a few months since we've been to monkey 68, but we heard it was under new management so we decided to give it a try. I understand new restaurants go through growing pains but what we experienced was pretty rough. We were sat promptly on a Saturday night but we were only given 1 menu for 3 people to share. The drinks were lacking, the same cocktail menu as the previous owner, but far less tasty, and weak. The food came out extremely slowly, the first orders showed up about 42 minutes after we placed our order. I timed it . Some of our food didn't show up so we had to ask another waiter to check on it, and 20 minutes later the rest of our food arrived. Small restaurant but it seemed extremely overbooked and understaffed. I hate to leave bad reviews but the experience we had was not pleasant. The food was definitely not bad, but the service left much to be desired

Very good! Our waiter was amazing and gave us amazing service! The ambiance is really cool at this location, and it shockingly was very empty on a Saturday night. All of the food was amazing. We loved the Bang Bang Shrimp as well as the a Double Decker roll.

As a longtime and loyal customer of the Roswell location, my wife and I were excited to try this new location because it's closer to us. Unfortunately, we did not have a great experience. Made a reservation, arrived on time and the restaurant was basically empty on a Saturday night -- there were maybe 4 other parties inside. Despite all the open tables in the room, they sat us at the worst possible table. Right next to the kitchen entrance / exit under a bright white light (different color temperature than the rest of the house lights) that felt like we were sitting in a doctor's office waiting room. My wife went to ask if we could sit somewhere else -- maybe at one of the SEVERAL other open tables -- and they didn't know how to handle this request. So they moved us to the bar area to a table that had the same exact off temperature bright light above it. What a mess. Those lights are such a vibe killer and they give my wife migraines (she told them that when she first asked if we could move). So, we got up and asked if there were ANY other tables we could sit at -- they said "unfortunately not, this is what we have available". I politely said we were going to leave and they just said "ok, sorry". Listen, I know this sounds like the pettiest complaint, but if I'm going to pay upwards of $150 for a meal -- VIBE and CUSTOMER SERVICE is EVERYTHING. Details matter, it's why you pay to come to a place like this instead of a strip mall sushi joint. You guys got it all wrong and we won't be coming back. We'll stick with driving the extra 10-15 mins to go to the Roswell location. You really should try harder to create a quality experience for your customers.

First time I went it was sooooo good. Chef Jackie Chang tool care of us at sushi bar. I loved it so much so I slwent back the next week and sat at the regular table. Sushi was so bad. It was not fresh and was really bad, I stopped eating and went to other restaurant to finish my lunch.

We pulled into the restaurant on a Saturday shortly after they opened. The parking lot greeted us with trash and an opened beer bottle. Their grounds were not properly maintained. Parking however was easy. We were greeted immediately but there was a smell indoors that wasn't pleasant, and we choose to sit outside. The outdoor tables were pretty small and dainty not making our dining experience pleasurable. At this point not a good first impression. Our server was not knowledge on the menu or drinks which made it a bit confusing. We ordered the Sex in the city, Toro, Baja, and Dragon roll. All were good. We had two cocktails that we enjoyed as well. We came back Monday during happy hour to try the rolls again. Beer bottle was still in the parking lot and the restaurant was closed when typical business hours indicated they would be open. Disappointed in service and cleanliness. Overall it was good, and hope they do better.

The new team at Monkey 68 is absolutely phenomenal. I stuck to the fantastic sushi options, but the rest of the menu looked great going out as well. Chef Jackie and his team are as good as anyone in delivering delicious, fresh, and creative sushi. The long list of tasty cocktails sure doesn't hurt either. Very cool vibe, and couldn't recommend it enough.

Let me preface that I have never given a negative review and it pains me to even be writing this one, but our service and wait time was so astoundingly bad that this review was necessary. First, we ordered drinks and an appetizer (calamari) within 5 minutes of being sat. At this time another couple was sat next to us and 5 minutes later a gentleman came in and sat at the bar. Our calamari arrived punctually, but unless we got a bad batch, I do not recommend this appetizer because it was small and extremely overcooked. We ordered our rolls and short ribs roughly around 10-15 minutes after our appetizer and drinks arrived. Another waitress filled in for our waiter half the time because he was no where to be found. The table next to us was taken care of by the waitress in our area and they ordered within 10 minutes of sitting down and the male at the bar ordered around 10-15 minutes after he sat down. The couple next to us received their rolls (4-5 of them) within 25-30 minutes after ordering and 5 minutes after the couple received their meal, the male at the bar received his dinner. Now pan back over to my husband and I! We were still sitting in disbelief asking our waiter (who finally emerged for an appearance) where our 2 rolls were and he simply said they were on their way. We've now been waiting just over an hour for our 2 rolls at this point!!! The couple next to us who was sat after us has now been served, eaten, and paid the check; as has the gentleman at the bar and yet, we were still without our rolls we ordered for our main course. Now, we are extremely patient and understanding people, but this was getting ridiculous so my husband casually went over the area of the kitchen where the sushi was made and simply asked what they were making. The chefs were delighted to answer, but it wasn't the answer we were looking for. My husband informed them that we had been waiting over an hour for 2 rolls and requested that they complete our order next. Lo and behold, we received our rolls within 5 minutes! We ordered the wagyu and the lobster rolls which were insanely delicious, but the negative service experience will keep us from ever returning. It's one thing to be understaffed and have slow food delivery times, but it's a whole next level of insanity when you are left without your meal while others around you are served, eaten, and paid for their food all while you're looking around for your MIA waiter to give you answers regarding your food whereabouts. An added level of crappy service is that both the waiter and waitress acknowledged how sorry they were for our long wait time and yet the bill had zero discounts applied. That was honestly insulting after such a bad experience and no manager attempted to talk to us either when we clearly expressed (politely) to the wait staff that our dining experience was awful. My takeaway, order your food to go so you can enjoy the delicious rolls and not be subjected to the poor service.

Such an innovative restaurant! Monkey 68 is located at the end of the Downtown Alpharetta strip on Main St. I came here for a date night on a Sunday and it wasn't busy, very quaint. The decor and ambiance is lovely and they offer a variety of Asian fusion dishes. I loved the cocktail menu which features the 12 animal zodiac signs based on Chinese astrology. I ordered the laughing horse cocktail, very fruity and refreshing. My date had the dragon cocktail, which was presented really nicely as our waitress poured it at the table from a smoky carafe. Unique presentation. For dinner, we shared a few small plates which were very filling. The dishes are served tapas style and come out in the order they are received. We had the: Kimchi fried rice with egg served on top, a lot of spices and excellent flavor Sex and the city roll, very fresh with spicy tuna and mango Korean meatballs served with bread and melted cheese, the meatballs and cheese were delicious For dessert, we finished off with the Korean pancake. Delicious! It was topped with ice cream, syrup and strawberry. We really enjoyed Monkey 68 and would definitely return.

Food was a 10/10! The rolls tasted fresh and they had a large selection of unique rolls. Service was also fantastic. We had a larger party but the service was great. Ambiance was also lovely- great for a girls night out!

I've heard about this place (The roswell location though) for some time so we decided to check out the Alpharetta location for an early Father's Day dinner. Its off the beaten path soo not exactly walkable from the rest of the downtown Alpharetta area. I liked that there was dedicated parking but didn't like that it was valet only. The building itself is very cute but the outdoor area leaves much to be desired as there was no landscaping. The inside is incredibly small for a building of this size. There was a small area with two bar height tables and seats and then a small dining area. We made reservations and were seated at one of the bar height tables. Overall I felt like the appetizers were pretty good. We got the Brussel sprouts ($9) and the short ribs ($17). I honestly felt like only the ghagnam style sushi roll was worth it. I was so disappointed in the lady in red roll, and the rolls royce was fine but could have been better. IMO the rolls were small and not exactly the most flavorful. Service was decent, and it was a cute place overall!

I came here to meet some friends on a chilly Friday night. Let's just say that COVID here is a bit more freeing. The seating is pretty close together so if you're worried about it I would recommend to take that into account. Otherwise since everything is starting to get back open, we came here on a chilly Friday night to try this spot out. And we ordered an assortment of things. Starting as an app we shared: Angry Ribs Korean styled fries. I believe it was KBBQ. Kimchi Fried Rice Korean Meatballs The apps were alright, the angry ribs were heavily sauced. It was pretty much fall off the bone and also because of the sauce was well flavored. The fries I would have to say if you're thinking of getting it to pass. It was alright, nothing special. The fried rice, well it was definitely a version. I would say it was very catered to the American taste buds. Meatballs were pretty well flavored as well, but it was alright. For my main, I was simple and got a roll: Toro on Fire Sushi - it was alright. I enjoyed it, but was it absolutely amazing? It was alright in my opinion. How to make it more exciting? I think there's only so much you can do with sushi though, so I understand. This was only my thoughts on this one roll as well. Overall, the service was nice and the group had a great time. Some of the dishes I thought were a little overpriced, but I guess it's because of all the inflation and well supply restrictions. But other than that, I thought it was great. If you don't mind close seating with other people, and you want some decent sushi/Asian fusion.

Found on TikTok so had to check it out. This place is in downtown Alpharetta so there's lots to do after eating here. Came for dinner and tried the Bang Bang Shrimp, Korean Meatballs, Toro on Fire Sushi, Lady in Red Sushi and the Mt. Ebi Sushi. All were delicious. I think the Korean meatballs are a must try and we really liked the Toro on Fire sushi as well as the Bang Bang Shrimp. As for drinks I had the Charming Snake and my friend had the Run for the pigs. My drink I highly recommend if you like a proper smoky mezcal. My friends drink was good too and it was cool because they lit it on fire. I defo recommend my drink more because my friend ended up ordering it on the second round lol Service was also good. Our server had great recommendations.

It was our first time there since they switched the menu. And let me tell you it is even better then before. We made reservations with are a must on Friday nights. People came in and were told to wait for the dining room, but you could have sat at the sushi bar with no wait. The music is great and the right level for you to have a conversation. The drink menu is outstanding and of course a deep list of other options. We had sushi and an appetizer. Do not miss the Waygu dumplings. Their phenomenal! We ordered some individual sushi which was great the chef made it right in front of us. Everything was prepared perfectly and the quality of the ingredients was evident in the presentation and taste. We also ordered a sushi/sashimi sampler which comes from the chefs recommendations. The Tuna was cut perfectly and very flavorful. The Salmon was a close second in the serving. The roll was their house Spider which is a twist on the traditional with Tuna (if I remember correctly). Sitting at the sushi bar the Spider Roll was the most ordered roll they seemed to send out during our time. The Chef Jackie took time to make sure everything looked great and the presentation was 5 star. Don't sleep on the Foxy Lady roll. It has no rice and is wrapped in cucumber. The texture is so unique that it makes it worth ordering every time.

SLOOOOWW SERVICE...The kitchen gets so backed up they can't serve the guests in their restaurant. We had reservations at 7 pm, were seated at 7:08 pm, placed an order at 7:15 pm and it's currently 8:04 pm and not even the appetizer has made it to the table. I can see the se era rushing around but the kitchen has to be the slowest we've experienced in the area. Don't waste your time.

Food was delicious but the service was slow. My dinner came out first and then my husbands dinner came out 10 minutes later. The wine menu is getting updated. We will be back but will try the sushi bar next time. .

My fiancé and I went here tonight expecting the tried and true good sushi and drinks. The drinks were great (as they should be for over $10 a pop), but the sushi was completely blah. The fish tasted a bit fishy, and underwhelming when the average price of a roll is $16. They are under new ownership as well and the rolls, apps, and dessert changed. They used to have a phenomenal kimchi fried rice they removed from the menu. They also changed the delicious waffle/pancake dessert. We ordered the A5 wagyu roll ($20) and ended up taking off the wagyu because it was it was greasy, fatty, and mostly gristle. It's hard to justify paying $230 for an average at best meal when Tanaka is down the street with a far superior sushi menu at half the price. We won't be coming back. We miss the old menu. Service was good. Ambiance was decent.

came to celebrate valentines, the sushi's were amazing, had the toro on fire and the Rolls-Royce, or entrées we had the shrimp and the brussels sprouts which were absolutely delicious, you must try them, drinks were awesome as well, I had the charming snake which is at Mezcal-based drink, it is absolutely amazing, service was good despite the restaurant being full because it was Valentines, food took a little while to get there but everybody was very attentive, about three blocks away from downtown Alpharetta but they have their own parking though a bit limited, will definitely be coming back.

I've been looking forward to trying Monkey out forever. A good new sushi/sashimi place in my neighborhood is always welcome. I finally got the chance tonight. I got take out but I did order at the bar and had a drink while waiting. The space is pretty cool though a bit off....sushi bar/kitchen and some dining on one side and the bar and dining in a separate room but it works. And both spaces have great, big, nice bright window that I love. As I mentioned I got take-away so really only interacted with the bartender. But she was great. Quick, fun and helpful. While I waited on order prep I watched the service in the "bar dining" and the staff at the bar pass and they all seemed great and very focused. When I got home, a little disappointing. I got the Sushi/Sashimi platter...6 nigiri and 12 sashimi. Very fresh and good quality but portion were almost laughable. 18 pieces, $40, on a 4 x 6 take out tray (see photo). In total, I'd guess 5 ounces of fish. Very disappointing. I literally had to go dinner round 2 to get full. Bottom line ...great space, great service, good quality, very poor value compared to nearby options ....Sushi Uchi, Natsu or JP Sushi (a bit further but so good). Monkey nearest my house, I was hoping to be my go-to. ‍

I sometimes forget to do reviews after I visit places and I am writing this review a week after I visited here. I came in here on a Saturday night for my son's birthday party. He loves sushi very much and was very excited about his special dinner. My son, wife, mom, and my son's ordered some fried asparagus and bang-bang shrimp as appetizers. For the main course we all shared some rolls. Our server was very very nice and he even offered to take pictures for us. He came to check on us multiple times asked us about the food. On the way out, staff thanked us for coming in. Overall this was a very very good restaurant and I would most definitely come in here again.

Hubs and I celebrated Valentine's Day with a late dinner at Monkey 68. We made reservations beforehand and arrived a few minutes early. We were greeted and seated right away. The space is beautiful. High ceilings and bright, unique decor and elements. Casual atmosphere. Plenty of seating and ample parking. Monkey 68 serves sushi and tapas style items with Asian influence. We were pretty hungry when we arrived, so we ordered quite a few things: Run for the pigs $15 A.K.A. Mickey $12 Yellowtail jalapeño shots $15 Mushroom salad $12 Brussel sprouts $8 Lady in red $17 Mt. Ebi $14 Hodduk $8 We started with drinks, run for the pigs and A.K.A. mickey. Both were strong and delicious. Run for the pigs was served with a flaming lime. It was very cool! Drinks were followed by yellowtail jalapeño shots, mushroom salad, and brussel sprouts. Then, we shared two sushi rolls: lady in red and Mt. Ebi. We finished dinner with dessert, hodduk. Everything was excellent from start to finish! The dishes were full of flavor and textures. Presentation was visually appealing. Difficult for me to choose one or even three favorites! I would order everything again. For "tapas" style, the dishes were pretty generous in serving. A tad bit pricey, though. Service was wonderful. The staff was on top of everything. Our food arrived in a timely manner, and our server communicated with us throughout the entire evening. We had a lovely experience, and look forward to returning in the future!

TL;DR Delicious collection of small plates and sushi in a modern, stylishly appointed setting. First of all, there is actually parking here; however, it's valet so bring some bills with you. Let me first remark on the Hidden Dragon cocktail. It arrived with quite the bit of fanfare, trapped in a bottle with hickory smoke injected into it. The server brings a nice whiskey glass with a large ice cube table side and uncorks the bottle, releasing the smoke, and pours the drink over the cube. It's a nice cocktail with a very clean taste. For a sushi roll, we ordered the Toro on Fire. This was really delicious. The seared fish on top gave it a nice, unusual flavor. Paired it with the poke trio which I found a bit bland. After pouring a little soy sauce over the top, it livened up well. The wasabi in it gives it a nice kick. The kimchi fries is a must try. I mean French fries with kimchi, meat, and cheese. What can go wrong? Paired it with the Angry Ribs. Spiced well and pretty much off the bone. To finish off, a brown sugar latte and the ho dduk ice cream dessert go very well together. Definitely going back. HOW TO READ MY REVIEWS: 1 Star - Does not approach edible. Enter at your own risk. 2 Stars - If I'm in the area, I'd pick something else. 3 Stars - I would stop by if I happen to be in the area. 4 Stars - I would pick this place out of other places nearby. 5 Stars - I would go out of my way to dine here.

The food was outstanding. Seriously. Order the Brussels sprouts and the dumplings. They're life changing!!! The double decker roll was great too. The service, cocktails, and ambiance were above average as well. I'd recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning.

My wife and I finally got to eat at Monkey 68 last night for her birthday and we were not disappointed. The service was excellent and the Sushi is 5 star some of the best if not the best Sushi we have ever had. I must eat at while in Alpharetta

This was our first time visiting the Alpharetta location, and we had a great experience! We absolutely loved that there is ample outdoor seating at this location! We sat outside and had amazing service and the quality of food and presentation is just SO impressive. Every item we had was so delicious! Some of our favorites are the Bang Bang Shrimp, LOL roll, and the double decker roll. This time I had a strawberry-basil ginger beer and it was so good. Parking is a little tough and tight in this area because they do share the building with other businesses, but don't forget there are 2 parking decks in downtown Alpharetta area and it would be the perfect to stroll around before or after dinner! They do take reservations, and I do recommend having one since it is a smaller restaurant. Great spot for girls night, date night, or just wanting some great sushi!

Overpriced menu, strangely placed tables, charged for rice, charged for truffle oil...not impressed !! Won't be back!!

We've been to the Monkey68 in Roswell and really enjoyed it. This location, however, not so much. The space is really loud. There were less than 30 people in the dining room but the noise level was through the roof. The design is cold and that makes the sound even worse. The hostess was curt and made us wait to sit at the bar for no reason. She just didn't want us to sit before the people who were waiting for a table. But there's no waiting area inside so we were in the way. The avocado salad was just a mixed green salad with a few slices of avocado and a syrupy dressing. The bang bang shrimp was good. The bar stools were ridiculously uncomfortable. My recommendation: order takeout.

We recently went to Monkey for the first time in a couple months for my birthday since it was my favorite sushi restaurant in Alpharetta. I was excited to try the new menu items but was disappointed to see some of my favorite sushi rolls and appetizers taken off the menu. We ordered the bang bang shrimp and it did not even come with enough sauce on it. The sushi roll I ordered was not impressive in taste or appearance. It makes me sad that they changed a delicious and simple menu to make it fancier for Alpharetta. I never had a bad meal with the old menu and management for the Alpharetta location. Guess we will be going to the downtown Roswell location from now on.

My husband and I checked this place out for my birthday dinner. I would highly recommend this place for a date night. The service was great. The food was really good. We had the dumplings and the bang bang shrimp for an appetizer. We had two cocktails that were great! My husband ordered the Nigiri and I order the She Sho fresh roll. It was so good. We also tried the Sake! They had Valet parking. There isn't much parking other than that unless you want to walk.

Beautiful restaurant in the downtown Roswell area. I came here for my birthday and it was the perfect choice. Every sushi roll, drink, appetizer we had was excellent. The service was impeccable and I can't wait to come back again to try more dishes. The parking is awful considering it's downtown, so you'll have to find a spot and just walk towards the restaurant. The wait and space is limited and also not very accommodating as there's nowhere to put you. But once you get in, it's worth it. The bar when you walk in is stunning. Decor is lovely and all the drinks have their own Asian twist, you read each one wanting to try them all!! Service was great! And food came out in a timely manner considering they were slammed that night. It's a perfect place for a date night and they do have plenty of seating. I suggest making reservations or getting there early if you can to be the crowd.

The food was good but very overpriced. The service was slow and the atmosphere was loud. It seems to be a popular place but I won't be going back.

Everything we tried was phenomenal across the board! We started with the shrimp and the meatballs. The shrimp was a perfect mix of sweet and just the right amount of spice! The meatballs were hot, cheesy and delicious. Moving on to the stars of the show, the rolls. The Gangnam style was sweet and almost Smokey! The twilight although the weakest of the three was still amazing. The Red lady was my absolute favorite. There was a definite kick but the flavor was unbelievable. Freshness personified. Our server Vicki did a very good job and was knowledgeable as well as attentive! We will be back.

There were good and bad things about our experience here. I'll just go through our evening chronologically so you can hear both sides. Hang on as this might get long! After being quarantined for the entire year we needed to start getting out for our own sanity. We appreciated all the safety measures Monkey 68 was taking with their operation. We saw plenty of sanitizing equipment, employees with gloves and masks, tables distanced out, and they took your temperature on the way in. All great measures. They also require a reservation due to limited seating. We called and made a reservation and they reserved a high chair for our little one as well. The first thing that happened was when we got there, we told them about our reservation and we were told that they only have one high chair and even though we had called and reserved it, another table was currently using it. I get that this is a nicer place and a lot of kids aren't coming here, but I've never seen a place only have one high chair. Plus we were told we had it reserved which is why we felt good coming here with a little one. If we were told they only had 1 chair and it's not guaranteed it would be available, we might have saved this visit until a date night without the child in tow. Anyways, we sat holding the carrier in a chair until the high chair was available which was less than 10 minutes after we sat down so we didn't have to wait too incredibly long on it. We started with drinks. We went for cocktails, but were told they were out of an ingredient for the one we wanted to try first. However, the waitress was fantastic in her suggestions of what else we should try. She asked what I usually like and I said typically bourbon drinks. She recommended a drink called the Hidden Dragon. It was perfect because it was bourbon based but it also was smoky like the Mezcal drink I wanted and if you want a presentation that makes you go WOW then order this! What a perfect suggestion! My wife decided to go with sake and after describing what she liked, the waitress as well suggested a drink that my wife loved! Off to a good start here. We started with a couple of the small plates. The food came out incredibly quick. We were surprised and especially because every dish was so beautifully plated. I was impressed at the attention to detail they made when assembling the plates. We had the yellowtail shooters and the Angry Ribs. We loved the angry ribs. It had great quality meat, delicious sauce with perfect amount of heat, and fall off the bone tenderness. Yellow tail shooters are hard to describe how delicious they were, but I'd recommend both. The one small plate we did not enjoy was the one we ordered with fish served on top of a thin slice of cucumber with some garnish. I can't remember what it was called but I posted the picture. The reason we did not enjoy it was because wasabi was added to it and way too much. The menu didn't even say wasabi on it so it was a surprise. When we ate it we both immediately had that burning sensation that makes its way into your nose and waters your eyes. Because too much wasabi was added, we just couldn't taste anything else. Finally we ordered three sushi rolls. The first roll that was brought out was Sex and The City. The problem is that we didn't order that roll. We told the waitress and she asked if we wanted to keep it. We asked if they were just going to throw it away and if it would be taken off the bill. She said it would be thrown away but they couldn't take it off the bill. If we keep it we would be charged, or if she took it away the restaurant would make her pay for it. Getting brought a wrong roll isn't a big deal. Just take it away and no harm no foul, but now there is a lot of pressure to either buy a roll we didn't order or make the poor waitress pay $14 for a roll that was an honest mistake. We had to talk about it for a minute but decidedly sent it back. We felt bad knowing the waitress would be charged for it, ultimately putting a damper on the meal. Anyways, the rolls we actually ordered came shortly behind. You can tell they just use high quality ingredients here. They were well made rolls with multiple components that use great fresh ingredients. The only roll we didn't enjoy was the OMG. It was a warm roll with something cooked inside of it. The menu didn't say anything about that so we weren't expecting it. I think we would have probably picked another roll if we would have known that. Anyways, we thought some of the food was simply fantastic. Others missed the mark or just missed our expectations from the menu descriptions. The waitress was fantastic except for the one sushi mistake that made us feel bad for the rest of the dining experience. Overall I think a 3 is a fair rating and our experience didn't make this a place at the top of our revisit list, but we would enjoy returning again if it happens in the future.

This was my first time at Monkey 68. There is a second location in Roswell that I'll have to visit one day soon, apparently their sushi options is much better and bigger variety. The inside of this restaurant is quite unique, very high ceilings but not a lot of space, I would never bring a large party here - the most would be a party of 6-7. I'll try to be as detailed but not too lengthy. Everything that I ordered and enjoyed from this place - Brussel sprouts, calamari, yellowtail jalapeño shots, red snapper carpaccio, Smoked toro (I didn't get a picture of but was very delicious with both sauces that's given with the dish), my laughing horse cocktail, the sweet potato chips dessert and the KOREAN PANCAKES WHICH WERE SO UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING!! I would literally come back once a week just for this dessert. Everything else that I ordered was only.. okay. From both sushi rolls - Picante and selfie. I tried a friends toro on fire which was good and slightly spicy. The sushi-Sashimi platter was also only okay. It was really down to the quality of fish for me, though I understand that this place is more of a tapas style restaurant. So don't come here expecting the best sushi you've ever had. THOUGH - like I said before the red snapper carpaccio, yellow tail shots and smoked toro were absolutely amazing. Would order again, not so much the rolls, sashimi and nigiris. Everything was good up until half way of our dinner, we waited a very long time for the sushi dishes to come out. But we did come at the start of the last hour to closing, so maybe the kitchen got backed up for a little bit trying to catch up, not 100% sure. But other than that, our server was great! She didn't have to hesitate on anyone's questions, she was super informative and descriptive of everything. There were a lot of other items on the menu that looked super good, so will definitely have to come back and try those :)
