We dined here yesterday and while the setting and service were genuinely lovely, the food itself was disappointing overall.
From a vegan perspective, the menu was fine but slightly underwhelming. Flavours were very muted across the dishes and the portion sizes were small. The one real standout was the beetroot dish, which was also the only warm dish I was served and, unfortunately, the most memorable part of the meal for the right reasons.
My wife is gluten-free and her menu was tailored, which we appreciated. However, the compromises made weren’t ideal. Additional vegan dishes were added for her, but these were also small and lacked depth of flavour. A cheese course was served before dessert, which felt a little odd, and the dessert itself had a grainy texture that didn’t land well.
From a food perspective, the experience didn’t quite deliver, especially given the expectations.
That said, the restaurant itself is beautiful, and the staff were exceptional – warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which made the overall experience far more enjoyable than the food alone would have allowed.
