"18C writer and women’s education advocate Elizabeth Montagu lends her name to this restaurant set inside the old carriage houses of her former home. The estate is now the Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa and an extensive garden separates the main hotel from the restaurant, making for a lovely early evening stroll in good weather. The menu showcases seasonal produce from the south west, such as Whaddon Grove Farm lamb, with the quality of the ingredients shining through in well-honed dishes." - Michelin Inspector

Thank you Montagu’s Mews for an amazing birthday dinner for my partner. The service and ambience were top notch and the food was absolutely next level in terms of creativity, presentation and deliciousness! We both found our choices absolutely sublime. Yes portion sizes are small as this is fine dining but the food is so rich that you do need the sizes to be any bigger. And we got a couple of sides to share including the delicious creamed potato. We did not leave hungry at all. The bar is lovely to have pre or post dinner drinks in. All round fantastic experience at this top hotel restaurant. As locals in Bath it was a pleasure to dine here after many years of living here.

We had afternoon tea here. It is a lovely venue but did feel like the tables were quite close together and a bit assembly line. Whilst the cakes and sandwiches were nice, I wouldn't say they were quite as nice as other afternoon teas I've had in other places. The service was good but overall lacked the wow factor.

Atmosphere and service was what you would expect from an establishment like the Royal Crescent Hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea. I really appreciated the option of hot chocolate or coffee for non tea drinkers. Scones were served warm and the sandwiches were very fresh and the bread so moist and delicious. Desserts were visually pleasing with a taste to match! When we return to Bath, this place will be our first stop!

The first building most people usually think of when talking about Bath is The Royal Crescent – so I was thrilled to receive a present of Afternoon Tea in the well-renowned The Royal Crescent Hotel for my birthday. You feel like you’re stepping back into a regency drama as you enter through the doors. You make your way through the impressive hotel and gardens to their restaurant - Montagué's Mews. We took our seats and were then given a choice of teas or coffees. I went with a ‘Chocolate Brownie Tea’ which was surprisingly delicious – I would highly recommend trying it. You can try a variety of teas or coffees as they offer top-ups throughout the experience. The main attraction then came shortly afterwards. It featured 3 tiers of delicious sandwiches, cakes and scones. Every element of the Afternoon Tea was impeccable, much like the ambience and service. The highlight had to be the Bath Bun, which was a real sugary treat, alongside the Patisserie items. They also offered a free top-up of the Sandwiches which was generous. We enjoyed a glass of Champagne alongside our Afternoon Tea, and it all felt rather extravagant – but that’s what Afternoon Tea is all about. There was a beautiful outdoor seating area too, which I imagine would be wonderful to enjoy your Afternoon Tea outside if the sun was shining. Overall, the entire experience was superb and I cannot fault a thing. Every element of the Afternoon Tea was delectable, the service was impeccable and the surroundings were wonderful. If you’re looking for a treat while you’re in Bath – I would highly recommend a visit to The Royal Crescent Hotel for Afternoon Tea at Montagué's Mews.

Gorgeous cream teas! Me and my partner have been three times now and they never fail to impress with the service and quality of food. Both the sweet and savoury cream teas are lovely, we want to one day return for dinner service. I would say the champagne cream tea is a little pricey and you only get one glass but it is very good quality champagne so opting for that luxury is a personal choice. The setting is also beautiful and the atmosphere doesn't make you feel awkward or out if place, you're always welcome.

The portion sizes let's this place down. Great setting, service was excellent, tasty cocktails and food tasty except I needed more on our plates for the main. We visited for our 10th anniversary. Starters were good but mains (lamb and venison) were two 3x2 cm pieces of meat each. If that was 30g of meat I'd be surprised. At around £40 per main I left feeling a bit robbed and that's coming from London. Dinner and drinks were over£300 which I expected but didn't expect to leave hungry

Superb food on the dinner menu with fantastic flavours. And the staff and atmosphere were just as good. Thoroughly recommended. Not cheap – but this is very serious food.

One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had in the UK. Left nothing to be desired in regards to dining and service.
